  1. Wow.  This is the first time I have shot it.  It was a pleasure to shoot.  The gen 4 frame feels great and is easy to control in my small to medium sized hands.   I was shooting wad cutters and was impressed at how accurate it was.  On top if that, it was just a blast to shoot.  I am very happy with my 20.

  2. ARE WE THE ONES WITH DEMENTIA? ARE WE THE ONES WHO ARE AGING? Recently, I went to McDonald's and I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets.  'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the teenager at the counter.  You don't?' I replied. 'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply. 'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?' 'That's right.' So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets (Unbelievable but sadly true...) (Must have been the same one I asked for sweetener and she said they didn't have any, only Splenda and sugar.) (And they think they are worth $15.00 per hour)

  5. I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car.   'Do you need some help?' I asked.   She replied, 'I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door un-locker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?'   Hmm, I don't know. Do you have an alarm, too?' I asked.   'No, just this remote thingy,' she answered, handing it and the car keys to me.   As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, 'Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long      walk.....'

  7. So what you're looking at is probably one of the best shots I've taken. This was shot around 225 yards, one shot, in about 5mph wind. It's not so much the shot, but what I shot it with. This was made with what some of you will remember as "the redheaded stepchild". It's my beater AR that I'm at almost 600 rounds without cleaning, that I built simply to beat the crap out of....Very cheaply, at that. Some of you could shoot like this with a slingshot, but I just got some land cleared this week so that I could shoot past 100 yards, so I'm pretty excited. Don't laugh too hard.

  10. Sounds like a really bad idea.  I think that if someone needs to be shot then they need to be shot, not hit with a ping pong ball and a firearm should never be seen as both a 'lethal force' option and a 'less lethal' option in the same package.  This isn't Star Trek where they can set their phasers on stun.  I foresee several potentially bad outcomes:   1.  Causing a mindset in officers where they begin thinking of a regular duty gun loaded with regular duty ammo as a 'non-lethal' or 'less lethal' option, causing them to draw their firearm when doing so might not really be warranted, at all.   2.  Causing a mindset whereby an officer, out of a desire not to use deadly force, opts for the 'ping pong' ball when he should really just shoot someone's a** - and the officer ends up getting hurt or killed in the process.   3.  Causing incidents whereby the officer intends to use the less lethal option but either doesn't attach the device properly or, in the heat of the moment, forgets to attach it and ends up improperly and unintentionally using deadly force.  IMO, any 'less lethal' option needs to be an entirely separate device.   4.  Instead of alleviating the problem of public outcry when deadly force is used I think this would actually make the situation worse.  Just like some people now say, "Why didn't they just shoot him in the leg instead of killing him," if an officer made a judgement call that deadly force is required then the family and friends of the 'little angel who loved everybody and wouldn't hurt nobody' (and anyone else looking for a BS excuse to loot someone else's business or destroy someone else's property) would be saying, "Why didn't they just hit him with one of those ping pong balls?  They didn't have to kill him!"   This idea also breaks one of the basic rules of firearm safety - never point a firearm at something you aren't willing to destroy (or kill.)  To me, that rule is clear, concise and makes sense while this attachment simply confuses the situation.  If there is room on the officer's belt to carry this attachment in a pouch then there should be room for something that is completely separate and self-contained.  If there really is a place for something like this, how about something like one of those single-shot 12 gauge flare pistols built to handle a 12 gauge 'rubber slug' load and colored florescent green?  They could call it 'The Noisy Cricket".  Just a thought.

  11. In full disclosure I need to state that I do know the owner and designer of this Item. This is not a attempt to drum up sales, I just want to pass on a great item that will change the way you train with your AR.   I purchased a Dry fire device made by Friendsville Precision. It has completely changed my attitude about training with my AR. Before I got it I hated having to rack the charging handle after every trigger pull. I was only doing drills with my AR about 1 or 2 times a month. When I did it was only for about 10 minutes because I just felt like I was wasting more time racking and reacquiring my target than actually pulling the trigger. Since I have gotten it I have been training every night and have found myself actually enjoying it. When I heard about this I was a little skeptical about the ease of use, a lot of things for guns that say they are easy tend to be harder because I have smaller hands, this was super easy to install and use. Here is a video of it being used.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiacwLw3jS8&feature=youtu.be  I think this should be something that EVERY AR owner should have.

  12. TWO I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those dividers that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed. After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the divider, looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it.   Not finding the bar code, she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?'   I said to her 'I've changed my mind; I don't think I'll buy that today.'   She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left.   She had no clue to what had just happened.   (But the lady behind me had a big smirk on her face as I left)

  14. Perks of reaching 50 or being over 60 and heading towards 70!   1.      Kidnappers are not very interested in you.   2.      In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.   3.      No one expects you to run--anywhere.   4.      People call at 9 PM and ask, "Did I wake you?"   5.      People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.   6.      There is nothing left to learn the hard way.   7.      Things you buy now won't wear out.   8.      You can eat supper at 5 PM.   9.      You can live without sex but not your glasses.   10.    You get into heated arguments about pension plans.   11.     You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.   12.     You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.   13.      You sing along with elevator music.   14.      Your eyes won't get much worse.   15.      Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.   16.      Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.   17.      Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.   18.      Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size..   19.      You can't remember who sent you this list.   20.      And you notice these are all in Big Print for your convenience.

  15.   Nope.  Just the standard barrel that came with it.     Didn't take any pics.  I was doing most of my shooting at 7-10 yards.  It was no problem keeping a 2" group at that distance.  I then moved back to 20 yards and shot it offhand.  I was using 6" shoot n see targets.  Out of a ten round mag 7 were within a 4" group, 2 others increased the group to about 5" and the 10th shot I rushed and missed the target by several inches.   Overall I was very happy with the results.

  18. Owl Hollow will still fill a very nice nitch as a nice relaxing range with opportunities to shot at 100 yards and less distances. Newer shooters might find it a somewhat less intimidating atmosphere. Strategic Edge is an excellent facility with a somewhat different atmosphere and manner of operating. Its two rifle ranges lean strongly towards longer range shooting. It might appeal more to intermediate and above level shooters. Of course they have training for and encourage new shooters. We're fortunate that mid state shooters have both style ranges at hand!

  32. It is been mostly reviews on line and I try and take that with a grain of salt. The complaints have been mainly about their newer shotguns, the 700 and it's variants. There have been a couple of people on this sight allude to problems. This is the only sight that I am a member of and I actually know people here so I wanted to get their opinion and not one of some random person on line. I also have heard people in gun shops, including the one I was in yesterday, grip about them. Not trying to rile anyone up, I just want to hear from someone who owns one of these before I spend the kind of money on a Remington, when I could get a Kimber or Colt for close to the same amount. Before yesterday I never considered them a viable option in the 1911 category and had not done any research on them.

  36. Good ole JC...liberal university town nestled in the hills of TN.  A recent line of mayors that make Bloomberg look like Charlton Heston when it comes to matters 2A.  Yes, they finally lifted their ban on BB guns, air rifles, and the like.  But, if you visit there, beware - they chose to opt-out of parks carry by resolution, but few (if any) of the parks have even the first hint of a posing to that effect.

  37. congradulations.   I will chime in with our experience.   We are early 60's and reasonalby good health. Bought a bit more land than you, but otherwise in the same boat. You will find the physical part of homesteading more draining than you are thinking, so think about that and plan accordingly.   I know you are chomping at the bit, try to control that urge and make a 5 year plan.   Go ahead and start some small things - chickens for sure (check out Buff Orpingtons) and a very small annual garden. Check out BioIntensive Gardening. http://www.growbiointensive.org/   I will differ on owning a tractor. It is a huge capital cost that can be spent elsewhere. Find a neighbor you can hire to bushog and do other tractor work. Get a rototiller instead.   We have bees and they are great and in addition to the honey the make your garden and fruit trees more productive, but there is a whole lot of knowledge required - don't recommend for a newbie.   Do some research on Permaculture. Basically plant perenials like bushes, fruit trees and perenial veggies like Asparagus. Basically plant once harvest many times.   Good luck. Be patient, but hang on to that enthusiasm.   Work hard to make friends with the locals.

  45. Islam is neither a race nor a religion. It is an ideology, one that promotes violence and death to those who refuse to convert to it. As such it is inherently evil and has no place in a free society. The now well-publicized interview by Sean Hannity with Muslim cleric Anjem Choudary revealed that he believes all "infidels" should die.   Like many of you, I am firmly on Ms. Morgan's side of this issue. It has nothing to do with the Constitution, as the Bill of Rights only specifies what government can and cannot do.

  49.    I've said this several times before, and it's happened several time before, once the dust settles form the latest VA scandal, and the politicians have all had their photo-ops, it'll disappear ffrom the news, and nothing worthwhile will be done. I was involved in the "colonoscopy" scandal. Fortunately for me, mine turned out ok. Some weren't as lucky. The VA medical debacle is too extensive to "fix". Way too many people involved & watching each others back. My solution would be to do away with VA medical facilities, and give each vet a card to go where they choose, and the VA pick up the tab. Other than that, give each vet the same medical coverage the Congress has. Not going to happen, just keep kicking the can down the road, getting more dents with each kick. I had the misfortune to have to spend 4 days in the VA @ M'boro last Apr.2014. It was a nightmare that left me worse than when I went in. Doctor was awful, nurses were good. Won't do that again. Anything serious, I'll go private. I have Tricare and Medicare, which should take care of most expenses. As another poster said, and it's true, the VA is a national disgrace. Vast majority of the doctors are foreign. Rare to see a white doctor @ the VA, M'boro or Nashville. The administrative leg of the VA is just as bad. Honestly had better care at the hospital in Quinhon in '67. As for waiting lists and claims, wait til we die, then no problems.
