"False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes." Cesare Beccaria via Thomas Jefferson. When will the AG decide that water is too dangerous a substance to be allowed in the individual's control...5 points

A cannibal was walking through the jungle and came upon a restaurant operated by a fellow cannibal. Feeling somewhat hungry, he sat down and looked over the menu... Tourist: $ 5.00 Broiled Missionary: $10.00 Fried Explorer: $15.00 Baked LIBERAL, Grilled CONSERVATIVE or Sauteed NDP: $100.00 The cannibal called the waiter over and asked, "Why such a high price for the Politicians?" The cook replied, "Have you ever tried to clean one? They're so full of sh-t, it takes all morning."4 points

From the bill, found here : SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-17-1351( B), is amended by adding the following language to the end of the subsection: The holder of a valid handgun carry permit issued pursuant to this section shall have the same rights, privileges, and prohibitions regarding the carrying of firearms, as permitted by state law, of any law enforcement officer, as defined in § 39-17-1350(d), who is not engaged in the actual discharge of official duties. SECTION 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2015, the public welfare requiring it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Given Matheny's current positioning in the eyes of the leadership, I'd hazard a guess that this one has less chance than the proverbial snowball...but it is an interesting approach.2 points

The Pig doesn't need a crush washer, since it doesn't need to time to a certain orientation like say a birdcage flash hider. The only reason to use one is if you're anal enough to want the markings to line up in an exact certain place. - OS2 points

No someone says it. You know how every legislative body is always talking about how they're gonna do this and pass that. I wish for one session they'd try this: just say "we're not gonna pass nothin' new. We're pretty good on laws for now. Let's just pass a budget, then sit this time out on new laws and see what happens 'til next session." What catastrophe would happen? OMG, not a damn thing.2 points

If you're a stranger and you approach me in a parking lot, you're not going to get close enough to put your arm around my neck if I see you first. If you catch me unaware and do it, you're probably going to get your ass kicked. Hard. We can sort out that you love me for being an NRA member after you pick your teeth up. This is how people get mugged, or worse. Don't ever let some stranger who appears friendly put their hands on you. You forfeit too much control of what happens next when a person gets that close or has their hands on you. Period. Friendly appearing or not.2 points

It's the way it should be. The public and law enforcement shouldn't have any distinctions on what type of weapons they can carry and where.2 points

This would be nice if it stands. In a ruling issued today, a Federal judge has declared that the longstanding ban on gun dealers selling handguns to residents in different states is not only unconstitutional under the Second Amendment, but also violates other fair trade provisions of the United States Constitution. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/02/foghorn/breaking-federal-judge-declares-interstate-handgun-transfer-ban-unconstitutional/1 point

Ive been wanting to pick up a DW1911 ever since a member here let me fondle his Dan Wessons a couple years ago after I bought a Kimber Eclipse from him. I found this one on Buds. Ordered it Monday night, and it arrived at my ffl today. It was a trade in but you can barely tell it. Plus it saved me about $300 on a new one. Cant wait to shoot it!1 point

I'm curious if these are any different than other Internet bargain basement type trusts... I would think that a specialty silencer company wouldn't want their name on something sub standard. That could be HORRIBLE press if someone got hung up because the trust sold to them by SilencerCo sold them.. Could prove to be a business killer?1 point

If you were wearing an anti-NRA shirt and this happened, (judging by the description) I'd say you met Rosie O'Donnell in that parking lot! But like David said, I would love to trust that anyone approaching me would have good intentions, but these days it would end with hurt feelings for the stranger.1 point

I would be willing to go in on this barrel idea. I'd probably be up for a case of the juice as well. I don't want the barrel ... and as far as who gets it, well ... we all wouldn't be here talking about an order if it weren't for the one guy who set up and maintains this place, so ... I'd say the choice is obvious in my mind1 point

I wrote to my Rep (Casada) and Senator (Johnson) this morning. I sent the email at 7:37 and had a response from Glen Casada at 8:28. Not too bad. Below is his response. While not unequivocal, it is encouraging. I would recommend anyone in their district (Frankin, Brentwood) do the same so we get a good show of support. Hi Jamie, Thank you for your letter and thoughts. I will pull this bill for study, but I feel confident this is something I will support. Please continue to contact me on this or any issue of importance to you Sincerely glen From: Jamie H Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2015 7:37 AM To: Glen Casada; Jack Johnson Subject: Support for HB0320/SB0628 Dear Representative Casada and Senator Johnson, As a law abiding citizen and HCP holder in your district, I am writing to you asking for your support of HB0320 and SB0628 respectively. Today, without any ill intent or willful disregard for the law, HCP holders are at undue risk of breaking the law due to poorly and/or overly burdensome laws with regard to when and where we can carry a firearm for personal protection. I believe these bills would not only make the law easier to understand, but would also improve the overall safety of Tennessee citizens. This in no way prevents a person, business, or government agency from asking an HCP holder to leave if so chosen, and as long as the HCP holder complies, there can be no legal grounds for prosecution. We need clear, concise laws that give law abiding citizens the right to self protection without the fear of arbitrary prosecution. I would prefer constitutional carry as the law, but this will improve the existing laws until that time comes. Thank you for your time and support.1 point

I heard of this forum on another that I’ve been a member of for a couple of years and decided to join you folks since I’m also a Tennessean. I was born and raised in Oklahoma just south of Tulsa but finished up my military career here and decided to stay. I spent just shy of 21 years in the Navy, retired and went to work for the Postal Service ( I can already hear the boos and hisses) as an electronics technician. I worked there for 26 years without going Postal and retired 6 years ago. I’ve dabbled around with just about every aspect of guns and shooting, including reloading, casting and muzzleloading, but in my opinion, am only mediocre at any of them. As you can tell from my user name, I didn’t get a lot of shooting experience while in the Navy. Our small arms proficiency test was to surface out in the middle of nowhere, go topside and try to hit the ocean. :D I’m looking forward to learning on this forum and maybe even meeting some of the members. "The statute does contain specific defenses for military or law-enforcement use, for use related to a lawful industrial or commercial enterprise, for dramatic performances and scientific research, and for display at museums." I believe the key words in this paragraph are "scientific research." That's what I do when I go to the shooting range, scientific research! :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point
