  3. Guys, I promise I am not casually dismissing your preference for Tapatalk, but I really have no desire or intent to go back to using it on TGO. The software is very problematic from a server-side perspective, and it is very limiting to the user even though you guys may not realize it yet. You only see what Tapatalk wants you to see, and can only experience the features that Tapatalk wants you to experience. The minimalist presentation of TGO on a mobile device is currently bone stock. We haven't even started to explore how it can be customized, improved upon, etc. Remnants of Tapatalk being installed very nearly wrecked the forum database Thursday night during our upgrade. I seriously don't think anyone really believes that the conveniences of Tapatalk are worth obliterating nine years worth of TGO.... do they??? We came really close to that happening.

  4. Okay, I'm still having major TT withdrawal. Unless you guys are using a different mobile version than me, I'm not seeing anyway someone can say it's better than TT. Maybe you were using a very old TT version because the current version gives you a ton of viewing and navigation options that the mobile version doesn't seem to offer.

  5. I can't think of more to add other than someone has taken a fine looking gun and every piece of history related to it.

  6. Pass. The Siminov rifle is a wonderful all around gun to have.....in stock configuration. Aftermarket magazines suck. Stripper clips and the original magazine is the only way to go IMO.

  7. Managed to get the scales glued up, pins installed, shaped & finish sanded over the past couple of days. ¼" stainless pins, G10 scales with white & blue liners. All I need now is for my leather to arrive & I'll get a sheath made up.

  8. Something about these little 100 plus year old wheel guns that is intriguing. With a working one in my hand, I often think it may well have been assembled by an old Civil War vet. Well anyway, I picked this up on GB about a year ago for about a hundred bucks. Last month I did a similar rebuild on a little 22 short called a Captain Jack. The Ranger is a good choice for a rebuild since it uses coil springs for the cylinder latch lever and cylinder locking lug. Also the hand is sprung very nicely with a strong spring arm pined into the hammer. Many of these early mouse guns used tiny leaf springs that would be a real pain to fab up since they are usually shot. As with a lot of these, I had to beat the cylinder pin out of the gun. The cylinder had about .016" end shake so the picture shows the building up of weld that will extend the length of the cylinder and I will turn the weld into a thicker bushing face. The original diameter over the cylinder pin was very thin allowing the hammer to beat the cylinder forward over the many firings. Heres the turned cylinder with a new pin made from oil hardened drill rod. Once the cylinder is fit into the frame with virtually no forward to back play, The barrel face is turned back and drilled out to .250". Then a new 22 sleeve is turned to fit and epoxied into the barrel. most any of these early guns will have the hammer and or the trigger sear wiped out as seen here. The fix is once again a build up of weld and recutting the hammer sear notches. Reshaped and the trigger spring was trimmed to lighten it up to a far more comfortable let off. After the trigger is re-timed with the action, I simply hardened it with Kasenite. The front sight was missing so I soldered in a new blade and trimmed it down to POA. The target is a 7 round cylinder string fired off hand at 6 feet. The only rounds that I would say is safe to fire in a well functioning BP mouse gun are CCI #0026 22 SHORT CB rounds. These round have no powder in them. only a primer charge. I'm always on the look out for those CCI #0026 rounds. I use them in an old Belgian Flobert type rolling block I have. You gotta love putting life back into these grand old guns! I sure do

  10. Okay, now that I know I was indeed viewing in the mobile version, I'm definitely going to have to disagree in the differences. With TT I get a tab selection to allow me to view: Trending, Subforums, Timeline (most recent posts), Unread, Subscribed, and my favorite, Participated. In the various sections I get a preview of the last viewed post in all the threads, and if there are any pictures in the OP, it shows that too in the preview. I also like their notification feature that tells me the specific notification and which forum it came from with a swipe. Also, on my TT home page I can quickly switch between various forums with one touch. And as you mentioned, the ability to embed pics directly off the phone. So in all I've found TT very useful for me. YMMV.

  13. You will want to center the object, in this case the dog. If you know how to crop your photo, then crop it so he(?) is centered with enough space around the center to account for the cut corners. Be sure to save the original so you can test it a few times in case it doesn't turn out the way you like. Edit: the upload allows you to crop and resize your picture, so use it to center it as above. I just did Yoda from a larger picture:

  14. My wake up call was when I got life insurance and I weighed in at 381 lbs, thinking something was off I ignored that and continued about my life. I estimate I was around 395 before I took control. I've lost 50 lbs since Nov 1st. I use the fitbit charge hr as well. And yes it's off a bit but what helps me most is tracking everything I eat. I've cut out most sodas. I might drink 3/4 a 16.9 Oz bottle a day, most of the time it's closer to 1/2 bottle. I drink plenty of water 5 to 7 bottles a day. I'm down to 340 and my goal is 265. I'm 6'4" so it was not apparent I was that heavy. My knees quit hurting and my aches and pains have diminished substantially.

  18. So I have to brag on my wife a bit! I have been wanting a SIG SAUER P320 for a while but been putting it off due to the price.I decided to sell one of my other pistols to help fund my new one. I sold my Taurus and was going to just save up the rest. Well I when i got home today from selling the Taurus My wife walked up and handed me the rest of the cash( she hides money around the house worse than squirrels hide nuts) for my new SIG and said "I know its the one you have wanted for a while, go and get it !!!!" I was completely floored so i drove straight to the gun store and was like a kid in a candy shop ...... now all that is left is to put in the trigger time and break it in well.

  19. We're Baaaaaaack! Welcome back to TGO, folks! Our software upgrade went pretty smoothly considering how massive our database is and how complex a lot of the things that make-up TGO really are. I kicked off the upgrades last night (Thurs 3/12/16) at around 8:00PM Central and had the new forum software online and responding to administrative things by about 11:00PM. Right now there are a lot of background processes running on our server to complete the upgrade process. These automated jobs will run until they complete, and I'm guessing it will take until at least this Sunday, the 15th, before most of them are done. Until that happens, some aspects of TGO won't be fully operational. Specifically, these are things you will notice... Search Feature / New Content Search will not be operational. Old posts and private messages will appear oddly formatted. Please do not attempt to edit them. Advertising by our Vendors will not be displayed immediately. Tapatalk will not be active. The search feature is probably the one thing many of us are going to be gritting our teeth over until it comes back online and it is going to be a lot different when it does. If you are like me, one of the first things you do when visiting TGO is hit the “View New Content” link at the top of the screen to catch up on what’s happened since you last stopped by. That feature has changed significantly with Version 4. It is a lot more powerful and flexible with the new version, but with that power and flexibility will come some “getting used to it” on our part. Here’s what you can expect: Version 4 adopts a technology that Invision calls “Activity Streams”. Many older areas like View New Content, My Content, and more are now merged into this new Activity Streams feature. One such Activity Stream emulates the sort of result that we experience right now with the View New Content search, and our members can override that with their own defaults if they find they like their own custom streams better. Members can even share their customized Activity Streams with one another if they desire. A good walk through of the Activity Streams feature is seen in the following video. Keep in mind that this video was designed to showcase this feature to forum administrators (like me) so some of it may be technical gobbledygook, but it still gives you a chance to see the feature in action better than I can describe it to you. You can watch the video here --> https://player.vimeo.com/video/139352611 Anyway, the best advice I can give you is to start exploring. Try things out! If you encounter any problems beyond what I described above (Search, Content formatting, Vendor Ads) please let me know about them in the Feedback and Support forum. Enjoy!

  21. Looks like we have Royal Range supporting TGO now by their banner at the top. Good to see you guys on here supporting the shooting community! If you haven't stopped by, you have to check out their facility. Top notch range backed by the friendliest folks I've ever met in a gun shop. Thanks for the support.

  22. I like the changes thus far. Sooooo much easier browsing on a mobile device than before. I'll wait until I'm home tonight to really dig into all of it, but so far so good!

  25. I'm in! I got 2, but is there anyway for these to be available in the future? Reason I ask is, I am tall and really a tall size is ideal, but sometimes get by with a standard size, just depends on how the shirt is made. Tall sizes weren't available on this and usually aren't available on much of anything.

  26. I've had this done for a while but been bitten by the suppressor bug so my poor little sbr has been neglected haha. CMT TGO billet upper and lower, PSA premium bcg, BCM Mod 4 charging handle, ALG QMS trigger, Seekins Precision stainless match .300 blk barrel, Seekins Precision bolt catch and mag release, Samson Evo 9 inch rail, DoubleStar adjustable gas block, SilencerCo ASR muzzle brake (waiting on Omega to get out of jail), Magpul CTR stock, Hogue grip, Vortex Sparc 2, and Magpul ASAP. I think that's everything. I have a set of QD 30mm A.R.M.S. mounts just waiting for a good scope. My wallets just waiting for the money to buy said scope. Well, here it is. And the last picture is with my 5.56 upper that's usually on my pistol lower. I'm heading out to OK Corral tomorrow with some friends to run them along with my new Glock 19, and another AR build that I haven't fired yet.

  27. Mmmmmmm.... fresh shrimp. Everybody gets cheat days every now and then, and I can't think of a better way to cheat. Once you get comfortable with the waking, add in a bit of strength training. You'd be surprised how much you can do with a couple 15lb Dumbbells, and how much difference it makes.

  30. I think the mobile version isn't necessary better than the prior one. Maybe it's just my phone, but it I'm not seeing the obvious improvement most of you are. To me, the upgrade is a wash in this area. Tapatalk would be nice, but if we don't get it back, I think we'll be okay. TGODavid has probably had his fill with it, as it's a pain in the ass from his side of the admin panel. Though, I will admit to some dismay at not being able to continue my running gag on OhShoot for that time he tried to chide us into turning off our Tapatalk signatures...but it'll just make me find a new way to mess with him.

  32. Fried shrimp and hush puppies are thru the roof on cholesterol and sodium. But we all have our moments.... think of it as 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Three weeks ago I "indulged" and had a cheeseburger. Unfortunately, it wasn't cooked thoroughly and I got sick. Didn't eat for a day and a half. So it all worked out.

  33. I did take the parts to 500 initially. The gold color produced looked good on the barrel, but it wouldn't have looked right had I kept it on the slide. I'll hopefully be getting the screws on my Uberti Cattleman ready soon, just can't seem to find the time at the moment. Here's the gold slide and finished product. So far 25 rounds of "test fire" has gone flawlessly.

  35. Thanks for your comments folks, its very satisfying to take a neat old gun in sad shape and put the jump back in them. I'v never used any Aguila but if their Colibri 22 is primer fired, I want some! I only have about 200 rds of CCI left. Many years ago I used to have the RWS CB's with the egg corn head stamp. Taught my son how to shoot on those when he was little. As a matter of fact that was nearly 20 years ago as seen here... Once bonded, How many of you know this feeling?

  36. That's actually why I was up there. I had a $50 gift card. Walked out with the rail and HSS for $129! Also, I received an email when I pulled into Bass Pro with a coupon for $10 off $40 purchase so that was applied also.

  42. It may be a setting I can set on my account, or something that will self resolve once all of the indexing is complete, but from the mobile version when I click on a thread it no longer goes to the first unread message. The thread opens at the top of the first page, or top of whatever page number is selected. Previously it would jump to the first unread message. Other than that, all good so far and being able to see location in the mobile user profile is a big win!
