  1. Toward the end of the Sunday service, the Minister asked, "How many of you have forgiven your enemies?" 80% held up their hands. The Minister then repeated his question. All responded this time, except one man, Walter Barnes. "Mr. Barnes, are you not willing to forgive your enemies?" "I don't have any," he replied gruffly. "Mr. Barnes, that is very unusual. How old are you?" "Ninety-eight," he replied. The congregation stood up and clapped their hands. "Oh, Mr. Barnes, would you please come down in front and tell us all how a person can live ninety-eight years and not have an enemy in the world?" The old man tottered down the aisle, stopped in front of the pulpit, turned around, faced the congregation, and said simply, "I outlived all them a$$holes." Then he calmly returned to his seat.

  2. After reading the article it looks like the purpose is a refresh on the approach to firearms forensics, not a 'database'. Sort of like when the ability to test for DNA in blood started being used of the simple type of blood. Have to remember, any time someone gets a government grant, they are going to be successful and create the findings that keep that money coming in. Global warming/global cooling/climate change/climate disruption is a perfect example. If the .gov cut off research grants, that whole mess would disappear.

  3. My opinion of the .22 as a self defense weapon is this: If I shoot you 4 or 5 times in the face with a .22 and you still want more, I done shot the wrong guy...

  4. I expect many of them have seen it and probably wish it didn't exist because it puts their beliefs in a very bad light. I have noticed above all other things the people screaming the loudest about gun control are the ones that are surrounded by men and women packing guns to protect them so they don't have to worry about protection. You can bet if they didn't have the protection they do they would all be packing a gun and not be screaming that we as Americans should not have guns. If all of the men/women setting in plush comfy offices that own all these places they have made into killing fields had to work in them they would not be gun free zones. They don't mind risking the lives of the people making $7.50 an hour in a pizza store or working on the floor waiting tables for customers in a resturant, Working in a factory where some disgruntled employee gets fired and goes home and gets gun and comes back to take his rage out on employees that never did a thing to that person. Movie Theater Company owners don't care about charging $12.50 to $15.00 to go into one of their businesses to enjoy a movie but do care that you can protect yourself while in there so they don't allow you to be armed even though you have a legal permit that says you can carry a firearm. Or Students in a school or college where some board of directors does not set foot in desides that the students and teachers are expendible. As long as these Gun Free Zones (Killing Fields) exist and remain soft targets this will be an issue!..............jmho

  6. That is my concern more than any other of this entire election is the Supreme Court. It can destroy our Constitution and alter Americans total way of life begining with the 2nd Amendment. That alone should be enough to bring out every Republican, Conservative, Independent and even some Democrats that are firearms owners to swing vote away from the DNC. That is also a good point by several that have mentioned we need to also make sure we cast votes that will help us remain in control of the House and Senate. This is the election that is more about our childrens futures than ours. All I can ask is what kind of future do you want for your children and grandchildren?................jmho

  7. I have seen inserts (lead and stainless steel) that will drop into a drilled hole in the concrete (similar to drywall inserts for screws). Then you would run a bolt down through the safe and into the inset. The ones I have seen expand when the bolt goes in. I think I would also consider epoxing the inserts in the concrete to help hold them in place so you can remove and reinstall the bolts.

  9. Mike Dresner (Lawenforcement Sales) and myself will be hosting a machine gun shoot in Sparta, TN at Flashpoint Tactical Solutions brand new range September 17th. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I have a HK G36, UMP45 and 1919A4 I recently purchased that will be there, along with other guns I've recently built and added to my collection like my Saiga 12 full auto shotgun. Talked to a guy about a M134 Minigun today as well and made an offer. No promises it'll be there, but I'm trying to get one for people to shoot! Should know in a couple days when he said he'd call me back if he accepts the offer.

  11. I'm learning just how good these things are at keeping ice from melting. It's making me want to drink more water, which is a good thing. Maybe next order we look at adding the bottles as an option as well? I'd love to have something like this I can throw in my bag without worrying about leaking.

  14. A tiny bit of lube, and by lube I mean grease, wouldn't hurt on those sliding surfaces. Like where the bolt slides in the receiver. Need a light grease for that. I've always used Tetra gun grease. Use stuff designed for cars at your own risk. Get the CLP out of the piston if you flooded that. It needs to be dry.

  15. No joke at all. I keep my 30oz loaded with ice-water around the clock. I take it with me to work and top it off there throughout the day. At night it's on the night table beside my bed. In the morning there's always still ice inside it! These things are pretty awesome.

  21. My cousin carries an LCR in .38 special and does pretty well with it. She has arthritis and can't rack the slide on just about anything but her SR 22. Recoil is only a problem after firing several shots. The LCR in .327 should be less recoil especially with low recoil ammo and carries 6 shots instead of 5.

  22. I have a MK40 and I doubt it’s the fix you are looking for. Now I know the mighty 40 is a beast compared to the weak 9mm, but I don’t think there is that much difference in recoil. Youi aren’t showing where you are, but if you are in the Murfreesboro area I have plenty of handguns you could let her try. Unfortunately I don’t have anything in 9mm. I have an MK40, M&P’s in all sizes, J-frames, K-frames, and L-frames, she could try. Maybe someone on here has some .327 or .32 stuff she could try?

  24. The new B'oro RK location could turn out to be a great show as the other one was most of the time. I seen dealers there from all over the country with a lot of new neat stuff. Why they picked this show? As the promotors say first to pay gets the table (ninja stuff, roasted nuts to stink up place&crap) Should be all gun related but seldom is. The new Wilson Co center look nice on virtual tour hope it works out,but the RK &GA shows there were sad.

I think you could just drill the hole deeper than needed. When you need to remove the safe just remove the hardware and pound the anchor down with a punch. Should work fine.

  27. Is she going to carry it or just use it for home defense? The heavier a handgun is the less felt recoil there will be. A 4” S&W K or L frame is a creme puff shooting 38’s as compared to a J frame. Can’t beat a 4” 19/66 or 586/686 for a home defense gun and it is a worthy target/range gun. For carry maybe a S&W 940 9mm if you can find one, although I don’t know there would be a lot of difference in the recoil of the .38. Or both the Ruger SP101 and the LCR are now available in .327 Federal Mag.

  28. I'm going to agree with chances r, a small 38 especially a light one like a 642 is going to be a handful to shoot, no pun intended. If she's going to practice with it and stay proficient, she may struggle with the recoil. Mine is steel with wrap around Hogue grips, it's manageable with regular .38 loads but +P stuff gets tiring after 20-30 rounds. The Airweight I had was pretty brutal even with light loads in it. There's just not enough mass in the gun to absorb the recoil. I'd suggest renting/ borrowing something at the range for her to use before you buy anything.

  29. IMO the 38 special revolver is the worst gun for most shooters.....UNLESS....they have shot one, like it, and want one. I have 'rescued' several shooters over the past several years that were given a 38 revolver to qualify in their handgun carry class. Mistake. While small and convenient to carry, they are hard to hold quickly and comfortably. Terrible double-action trigger pull that is at least 10 times the weight of the gun (wonder why you can't hit anything?). And most are limited to 5 shots. So I would look at the Kahr, Shield, LCP, 320 Compact, or even some of the Glocks.

  30. We couldn't touch it, but we were no more than 10 feet from it. Definitely one of the best field trips I ever had. Thinking back on it, growing up as a military kid had it's down sides, but it had some pretty amazing things too. Flying in a KC-135 to watch refueling operations, up close and personal with the Habu, touring the USS Wasp, flying an actual F-15 simulator, and getting a personal tour (just me and my dad) by the XO and the Chief of a nuclear attack submarine are pretty awesome experiences. Few people ever get to do any of those things, much less all of them.

  31. Me too. I remember what felt like every building on the whole base shaking and you knew it was the SR taking off so you stopped what you were doing and ran outside to watch. We had an F-15 pilot who lived next door and even he'd come out in his yard to watch it. Night launches were especially memorable watching the afterburners slowly go from 2 dots to 1 then to none, but you could still hear it even after you couldn't see it. A 2nd or 3rd grade field trip was over to the hangar to get up close and personal with it, the pilots, and their gear. Got to put on one of their "space helmets" and eat peaches out of a tube. I remember big pans on the floor of the hangar (like sheet cake pans, but bigger) to catch fuel that dripped out of the expansion joints. Once it got up to speed, the skin got hot enough to expand and stop dripping.

  32. Every aircraft has a "best glide speed" which maximizes horizontal distance traveled vs. the rate of descent. This speed varies by configuration changes (gear, flaps, slats, spoilers, etc), weight distribution and several other factors, but is always well below "max speed". The procedure is to immediately bring the aircraft to whatever best glide speed is for a particular configuration, however that is complicated for the SR71 by the minimum airspeeds required to prevent stalling at various altitudes and will necessarily change on the way down. One source I found says the "glide distance" of an SR71, traveling at Mach 3.0 at 70000 ft. would be about 77 nautical miles. By comparison, the known glide distance of the earlier U-2 from the same altitude was in excess of 225 nm. The SR71 did many things well, but it was not an efficient glider, pilot anecdotes often include the word "brick" in their description of it's gliding qualities ...

  35. To end the automated calls do this. Find a recording, like on Youtube, of the first few seconds of the disconnected line tone. Record that as your greeting followed by your message. To a person it is some sort of glitch and they won't think anything of it but an automated dialer will hear it and list your number as disconnected. I used to get horrible telemarketer calls on my cell phone. I actually got a call while I was telling another to quit calling. After recording the disconnected tone and letting all calls go to my voice message all the calls pretty much stopped. I still have to let my phone go to my voice message a few days a year but it is way better than before.

  44. Thanks to your efforts, we have had a good week with the Gadsden license plate orders.   There is a way we can get to the 1,000 quickly.  If everyone receiving this e-mail (over 300 people) got 1 person to order in the next 2 weeks, we would be over 500 in 2 weeks.  Then, if the 500+ got 1 person to order in the next 2 weeks, we would be over 1,000.  By the end of April, we could actually have the paper work sent into TN to start the process of getting this plate into production.  But it is you that is going to make that happen.  We can't do it without you.   Be sure to Like and Share our Facebook page:    www.facebook.com/TNGadsdenTag   To place your pre-order, please visit:   http://www.friendsofsycamoreshoals.org/gadsden_plate.html
