  1. Is it time to start stocking up on little discs for ammo?

  2. I kinda wish all used cop cars went directly to the scrap yard. I can usually spot them from a mile away and seeing the old heaps interferes with my driving pleasure.

  5. They do and it is not uncommon for them to cite (incorrectly) their own rule as 'federal law'. For exactly that reason I would personally recommend NOT storing the ammo in the same case as the guns if possible but instead put both in the same bag using (preferably) a plastic case for the ammo or factory packaging. Now to anyone reading this saying, 'gee it sounds like a huge hassle' it is not. I get my info from the TSA website, the website for the carrier I'm using and my fathers 36+ year career in AvSec. If it's happened in an airport, he's either dealt with it directly or read an account of it or both. It's easy for me to go 'above and beyond' the requirements because I have the benefit of his fore and hindsight. Follow the basic parameters and you'll be fine, go a bit above and it will be super smooth sailing. The airlines want your business and want your repeat business, they will make some pretty reasonable accommodations for you if you know what to ask for. Some airlines even have (or used to) hard sided cases you could rent or buy from them in case someone showed up to fly with a declared gun unprepared.

  6. My college roommate had one. We called it the Vomit Comet - because if you didn't know what to expect you were going to vomit. If my memory serves, it was an early 80's Crown Vic that was babied by some north Georgia police chief. You could drive as fast as you wanted in that thing and all you'd see is brake lights as you went down the interstate. Truthfully, it's a wonder we lived through our freshman year.

  7. I've known several people who got low mileage detective cars in good shape and loved them. Once you remove the 500 lbs of stuff added to a normal police car, they rode really well and were much quicker and more agile than you'd expect. Plus they're freakin huge and have all the benefits of still looking like a police car.

  8. I decided to buy a new one. The Hillary hole doesn't bother me much! I like the 2.5 inch barrel. Also, the barrel is not overclocked like I've seen on other new Smiths. Already ordered a Simply Rugged holster last week. Here it is next to my EDC, a Glock 19, for a size comparison. Looking forward to breaking it in Thursday! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Some airlines have very specific rules. Double check their website to be sure you're following their specific rules, but I've traveled my way across multiple airlines with zero problems.

  11. Amazon has some hard sided pistol cases that are only 25-30 bucks and are built like tanks. Definitely do not use TSA locks. Buy a cheap plastic ammo container to put your ammo in and put it in the same container as the pistol. You can leave loaded magazines in, but I avoid doing that to prevent issues with any airline employees who don't know their own rules. Also, I use the gun locks that come in new gun boxes to lock the pistol open to show it is unloaded with certainty. Show up to BNA two hours before your flight. TSA has slightly changed their procedures and I almost missed my last domestic flight from getting there only an hour early. Also, make sure they tape the firearms declaration on TOP of the pistol lockbox. I was once met by police at my gate because the guy checking my bags was convinced it had to go inside the locked case. They were cool about it except for the cop asking for my gun permit(totally irrelevant) and an employee asked for my key to open my case without me(which is a huge no no), but the moral of that story is to pick your battles carefully when it comes to airline travel with pistols. Follow the rules and it only takes 5-8 extra minutes to declare a firearm. Safe travels.

  14. I picked up a pretty well used Crown Vic interceptor my last 2 years in high school - got it at an auction for just above 1K, it had a an idle time clock on it that had 600ish hours, I forget what Ford equates an hour of idle time to - but the car was great, 4.6L engine, some heavy duty cooling equipment and I believe it has an increased gear ratio gave it some giddy-up-and-go. Made a little bit of cash selling the light bar, and extra equipment it came with, also helped lighten up the car. Pretty fun, scares people and you get dirty looks from unsavory folk but theyre cheap and can be used as a good platform for a fun project car.

  15. If you do online chat, save a copy of the chat transcript. Charter told me one thing in the chat but tried to add on fees before the install. I declined the install, but I could have made them honor the deal.

  18. Well technically they can and will, but that would be under pretty abnormal conditions. They will make every effort to have you unlock it though including paging you or sending someone to your gate to get you. They can also hold the baggage and not allow it to fly, but again, those are pretty abnormal circumstances. Photographers will declare a gun sometimes specifically to keep TSA hands off their equipment. $10,000 worth of lenses and cameras, a $200 high point is good security in more ways than one.

  19. Our dealership sells new ones and takes old in on trade. Most patrol cars traded off are so worn and wrecked/repaired they are barely worth scrap value. Occasionally though you get one that was babied by a chief or detective who didn't drive as much. I got several really clean crown vics last year when the local PD up there went to the police package explorers as the bosses all wanted the new SUVs. For the Crown Vics at least all the "police" upgrades were available in other trims as well such as the taxi/heavy duty package marketed to fleet and livery companies, the few things completely unique to the P71 Police variant such as the different rear end ratios and composite driveshaft in later models aren't really that useful in day to day use. I'm counting the days until they start turning in the explorers we sold them in the last few years, since I love the racks between the front seats for a shotgun and M4 combo, and the redesigned aux. accessory electrical system.

  23. The next question I suppose is what case? I've used the Seidio cases which come with a holster and I like having a holster. They do make one for the s7, but it's apparently different from previous cases.

  24. As an additional note on the S7, if a good camera is important to you, the S7 camera has gotten some top ratings.

  26. I've been on the Galaxy S7 for about 4 months and really like it. One note, in order for Samsung to get the water resistance rating on the S7 (5 ft water - 30 mins), they went back to a sealed battery.

  27. I've done it, it was uneventful. You can find the concealed carry laws for Washington online. I'm told they have an attraction called Mt. Rainier in Washington, but it rained the entire time I was there, so I didn't see it.

  29. I got a Samsung S6 Edge last year, and I would not get it again if I could do it over. The phone itself is great, and I would definitely get the standard S6/S7, I just don't like the Edge. The main problem I have with it is when I try to do things on the phone with just one hand, my thumb touches the edge and inadvertently clicks stuff. The features that the edge display provides are minimal, and to be honest, I never use them. The only exception is a feature to turn on a dim clock on the edge display that stays on in the evening. That is useful in the evening to be able to just glance over at the phone to see the time. Of course I have several other clocks in the house and a watch on my wrist, so not having that feature would be no big deal to me. The good things about the phone, and that would transfer over to the standard version, are: it has a great screen. I like the size and clarity. It has just about every feature I could want on a cell phone. It acts as a WiFi hot-spot pretty well. Battery life is pretty good. I think I have an app for work that drains it. I get a full days use no matter what, but when I'm at work, it drains quicker. It quick charges with the supplied charger in just a couple of hours. If I'm going out for the evening, I'll sometimes put it on the charger for 15 minutes or so, and it'll jump up 20%. The camera is fantastic. We went to the Grand Canyon this year, and the phone was the only camera I brought. Takes as good of pictures as my 10 yr old DSLR. It came with several of the crappy apps that providers like to install. And, while you can't uninstall them, you can disable them, without rooting the phone.

  30. I just did the same thing. I've always been a Note fan. I've had the 2, 4 and now the 7. I'm liking the new 7 except for the lack of good screen protectors for the rounded edge screen. I'm working on a homemade solution to that though. Battery life has always been important to me so on my Note 4 I had a "zero lemon" brand 10,000 mah extended battery. It more than tripled the factory battery and doubled the weight but was a beast. I could stream about 16 hours of Netflix on one charge. My 7 doesn't have a removable battery but does have wireless induction fast charge which I'm really liking so far. I've had it 3 days and not plugged a cord into it yet. I really recommend any of the popular Samsungs. I've only had Note phones but the S series are good ones. And most of them have user serviceable batteries so there is the option of adding a larger battery. I'm one of the few lucky Verizon customers that got grandfathered in when it comes to unlimited data. If I ever re-sign a new contract I will loose the unlimited which means I have to pay retail for my phones so I take advantage of their 2 year device payment option. It makes that $850 sting a little less. But I consume an average of 60 gb per month so the cost of the phone is cheaper than any data plan I could buy in the long run. 31. Just went from Samsung Note 4 to Note 7. I use my phone heavily on a daily basis for work. I've been using the Note since they came out and have had great service and reliability from them. It is large though but I am a big guy with big hands so the phone fits me perfectly. It looks like a tablet when my wife puts it to her ear.Costco has it for $349 if you commit to 2 years. I have been with Verizon since the day cell phones came out in bags.

  33. It will get sold on the basis that it is something new - just like a lot of Apple product users will upgrade to the iPhone 7 over the 6 and it's variations. The fact that "cool guy specialz agentz" will use it is a good enough reason for someone to buy it, whether it be a M17/17-M or 17 Gen 5 as per it's official marketing name. The ambi-slide lock is a cool idea I suppose, fingers grooves don't bother me so it's a moot point. What I do hope is that a bunch of people buy these so we can pickup Gen 3s for dirt cheap and Gen 4s at current 3 prices.

  37. 1) Unlike me, she has the body type to pull off AIWB carry quite well. 1a) As long as she's safe at drawing and re-holstering, it's a safe way to carry. 2) We need her, and many more like her to keep good things going with regards to gun carry. As mentioned by @nightrunner, she'll reach far more people of her gender and generation than we will.
