***SOLD*** I purchased this knife from our very own TGO member and knife maker Grand Torino 5 or 6 years ago. I hate to let it go, but life happens. Here is information he provided at time of purchase: “11 1/2" OAL beauty with a false edge and hollow grind. The blade is right at 6" long. it has over 500 layers to achieve its look. It's about 3/16" thick at the spine. The handles are new product from Voodoo Resins. They have this unique look with the added aluminum mesh added into the blade. Very cool and different. It has SS pins and lanyard tube and comes with the combo kydex/leather sheath shown.” $175. No trades at the moment. Located in Nashville. Will ship for free at asking price. ***Additional photos in comments5 points

ATF doesn't need to be abolished. They actually do serve a purpose. What they need is to redefine their objectives and stop being used as a political weapon for gun control. There are real bad guys out there illegally trafficking in guns. They need to be arrested. But leave the average gun owner and the LGS alone. Most of all, enforce the laws as written. They don't need to be "interpenetrated" to mean whatever you want them to. If ATF were abolished, that would mean their duties would have to be passed to another federal agency. Most likely the FBI. Are you sure you want that?3 points

In case you haven't already seen it, Glock and Aimpoint have collaborated to deliver a new variant of several Glock models this year, each featuring a slide cut with a new Aimpoint optics mounting footprint designed to work with Aimpoint's new COA pistol optic. Before you totally dismiss it as the answer to a problem that no one was asking, it really is worth looking at. Not something I'd rush to replace ANY of my existing Glocks with, but (a.) it designed as a package primarily meant for organizations looking to move to optics-equipped handguns, and (b.) it might be worth considering later in the year (or next) if you are in the market for a new gun and optic. Hey guys, I have for sale or for trade an unfired Mossberg Shockwave in FDE. I have upgraded it with a top picatinny mount and a bolted-in side saddle w/ adjustable tension in each slot to account for varying width rounds. Unfortunately, I will be moving to CA next week and need to get rid of this beforehand. I would prefer an outright trade for another firearm that is CA legal. Also open to trades for ammo (.380, 9mm, .223/5.56). Cash price is $400. Located in downtown Nashville but willing to drive up to an hour or so away for the right deal. EDIT: it's a 12ga. It keeps saying there's an error uploading pics and I need to contact support; will keep trying but in the meantime I think I should still be able to PM pics.2 points

870s and Mossberg 500 or 590s are the old standby, and a fantastic option. In particular I like the Magpul SGA stock options. The new semi-auto hotness is the Beretta 1300 or A300, but they are 2-3 times more expensive. Some caveats to add: 1) Shotguns are a thinking man’s gun if you want to run it well. Especially a dual use gun like you want. Get training on it and practice ammo management. 2) Put thought into your defensive round. I prefer Federal Flite Control, if you can find it. Contrary to conventional wisdom, you don’t want a wide spread. Pattern your gun at various distances and record your results.2 points

I tend to agree with this. I've had a 500 Cruiser in the bedroom closet for about 25 years. I don't hunt so I don't need the extra barrel but if I were buying today this would be considered. The extended tube on mine is great though. 8+1 00buck is good medicine.2 points

Not certain that will work in all circumstances. Pistol loads may only use 3 - 4 grains of powder. Brass will vary more than that.2 points

One can open carry a semi auto bazooka for all I care. What I will not do is disparaged, make fun of or call people names that may choose to do something different than myself. Seems we have enough attacks from the outside already. I bet if we all watched each other close enough we would find things about what we do with firearms that we do not like. Live and let live. Or maybe carry any way you want to.2 points

Came across an FN pistol I wanted. Had a bunch of gift cards from my ex that been sitting on the bench for a few years. Getting this FN from Bass Pro and using the cards would save me 100 bucks So I ordered the thing online, the website says it’s in stock in Nashville. No one else had it that I usually do business with. Pay for the thing, then find out in stock and available same day does not mean that they actually have it in stock, and it doesn’t mean that they have it for you to pick up on the same day, go figure. A week goes by I get an email telling me that it’s there and I can pick it up. The store advertises they close at nine. I show up at 6:45, there’s a sign on the door that says they now close at eight. I go inside wait about 30 minutes for the clerk helping somebody else, explain to him on there to pick something up. Clark tells me I cannot pick it up because they now close at eight and it’s after seven and they never be able to get a TIC check done in time. Explain to him I live an hour and 15 minutes away from here, if they’re changing hours and have restrictions on pick up they should at least say something when they tell somebody to come to the store to pick up their order. Clerk says give me a minute. He comes back out opens the computer so we can knock out the 4473. It is now 7:10 PM. I blow through the 4473 on their computer, TIC check comes back in five minutes all clear good to go. I gave the clerk my drivers license, he looks at it says it’s expired I can’t use it. I explained to him it’s a CDL, DHS mails them to your home after you renew in person, it was valid when I made my purchase, it’s still valid, only the date on the card is off if someone wants to run it right now they would see it’s valid for another eight years or whatever it is. Bottom line is they made me run back-and-forth to my vehicle four times to grab everything from my HCP, vehicle registration and one other form of ID to get this done. It was after 8 o’clock when I finally got out of there. No thank you, no we appreciate your business, no thank you for your patience nothing. All they did was run my crap and make me read this basic safety document and sign off on it and that was it. Was definitely not worth 100 bucks I saved to go through all the aggravation and BS standing there like an idiot for an hour waiting for them to figure out what they needed to do next. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe all I had to show them was a photo ID, and verify my address which I did with four different documents and IDs. Bass Pro oughtta stick with selling worms and fishing poles cause buying a gun at that place is anything but nice…. I mean hell did I miss the memo or the warning post? Ran mode off1 point

Just keep in mind that even an 18" shotgun can be unwieldy inside a house. The shot pattern will only be a couple inches at 30 ft.1 point

Beauty! That's a real keeper, for sure. I have some of dad's guns. They were divided between my brother and I. My father was all about function, meaning accuracy. He modified every thing, to suit him, so their value has been greatly diminished. But I have four boys who will get them someday. They all want his Remington Rand 45. It was his hardball gun, when he was shooting National Match Course in the 60s.1 point

I went the Mossberg mdl 500 way. Had a youth model 20 Ga with a side saddle that held 6 rounds and 5 in the tube. It came with an 18 1/2' brl so I purchased a 28" brl for it and gave it to my grandson. I put the plug back in it so it would be legal to hunt with as it only holds 3 rounds in it now. He duck hunts with it. I have a mdl 500 in 12 Ga with a side saddle and 18 1/2" brl in my gun safe now. My 500 has an extended tube on it and it holds 8 rounds on board now. Fills my needs in the shot gun world.1 point

I haven't seen one in person obviously, but it looks like a very well thought out mounting process. It should be remarkably durable. One compliant I see/read is "Oh No! Not another mounting system!" LOL I get it. But we truly are still in the development stage of RDS on handguns. And this, for the reasons @TGO David, is, imho, a big step in the right direction of insuring durability. I only have 2 RDS EDC handguns. A G17 with a direct milled RMR and a G19 with a direct milled Holosun 509t. (ATEI) I really appreciate the cross cut mounting done for my 509t. It's rock solid. I do have a 407 Holosun on my Taurus .22 and a 507 on my Shockwave. But that isn't a good comparison to the beating taken by a RDS on a SD handgun slide. And honestly the size of the enclosed emitter of the 509 is not a "mailbox" sized attachment and carries and conceals quite well in my Dale Fricke Archangel AIWB holster. But it has a large enough window that it's remarkably easy to see. This COA looks to be smaller than the ACRO but with what appears to be a similar sized window. The very clever cut mounting looks like it will sink the sight fairly low allowing use of the proprietary Glock sights. And it looks to be strong. We'll see. I have no desire for one at this point in my life for one. But I'm interested in following this evolution. I think it's a pretty unique and clever collaboration. Just my opinion.1 point

Reading through this old thread and was thinking the same. Honestly, I think the last time I fired my AR was around 2019. My 15-22 sees much more action, if that counts. I do most of my work with levers and bolts. I don't use that AR, but it wouldn't be wise to attempt to deny me of it. My 80 year old neighbor bought an AR last year. Says he "hates the POS, but not as much as those "******* Democrats hate him having it" (his words, he's a character)1 point

They were asking all people coming through the turnstiles if they were carrying and I'm an honest guy. It's their store, so they have a right to ask. I had a right to do an about face and haven't been back since.1 point

Good grief what a rabbit hole this has become! I’m still at it, and still learning. More importantly, I’m learning how much I don’t know. That grows much quicker than the former. Still looking for the application phase. If it helps anybody, “Guitar Theory For Dummies” is a pretty thorough reference.1 point

I find OC to be a slippery slope. I can think of a couple of reasons the right to OC is important 1) in some states simply printing is considered open carrying, and if open carrying isn't legal in that jurisdiction the person can be charged. Legal OC prevents this. 2) in certain circumstances I prefer to OC but I'm not likely to encounter others while doing so, such as hiking and back country camping. So while I believe the right to open carry is important, I don't believe in doing so in public, which is tricky because I also believe that we will lose freedoms we don't exercise. Also, the last thing I want to deal with on a grocery run is some opinionated Karen, that is offended by the presence of my firearm. She will make a scene and I'm not going to educate her, or change her mind. If you are into those kinds of confrontations then open carry may be for you.1 point
