  8. Hello everyone! I’m a native Tennessean, living in Spring Hill, and have had a lifelong love of firearms history in general. My firearm related passion is shooting handguns, especially pistols. I try to hit the range once a week, or every other week. Hammer fired da/sa pistols are my thing, but there’s a couple striker fired handguns in my little collection, too.

  13. BOTH SOLD -- Thanks for looking. I need room in the safe, so here are two old-school carry guns ready for adoption. These are a couple of classics that in very good condition and with lots of life left in them. 1. S&W .457 .45 ACP -- It's been eclipsed now by the Shield .45, but for a while this was the smallest and lightest .45 ACP that S&W offered. Bobbed hammer and one-sided safety show this was designed to be carried as discreetly as it was possible for a .45 with the same capacity as a full-size 1911. The main criticism of these guns in the used market today is that it they don't share magazines with many other S&W semiautos, so mags aren't plentiful and are frighteningly expensive when you can find them. (There are some for sale on GB right now for more than $150 each.) But fear not -- Uncle Whisper has you covered. This little gem comes with five magazines, so you don't have to worry how you'll get more if you lose one. If you lose four, then you'll be in trouble, but you're not that careless, are you? $575 to a TN resident legally able to purchase handguns. 2. SIG P239 9mm -- I sold my other P239s but held onto this one because it has the Von Stavenhagen sights that I prefer on SIGs, but now it's time to let it go as well. This one has Hogue G10 grips because I thought the OEM plastic grips were just a bit too small and slick. It's a great-handling little gun. The P239 hasn't been discontinued that long, and magazines are still available from all the usual places, but this gun is well prepared already -- it has four factory SIG magazines; three standard-size magazines plus a 10-round extended mag. PLUS, as an added bonus -- three brand new recoil springs, ensuring that you have both plenty of mags and recoil springs to keep this gun running for decades. INDEPENDENCE DAY PRICE REDUCTION -- $525 to a TN resident legally able to purchase handguns. I live in Chattanooga and will travel a reasonable distance for a deal. Trades considered, but I'm not really looking for much these days except a 12-gauge Browning Automatic 5, which I want for an SBS conversion, or a Marlin 336 in .30-30. I probably don't need any more ARs or plastic handguns Thanks for looking, Whisper

  14. Got one off another member recently and I run 1-200 rounds through it every range trip as practice for my LCR 9mm, super fun and accurate get-off-me gun with an awesome factory trigger. GLWS, someone will be happy with it I’m sure

  15. I've went to using a roll or front bag when I shoot off the bench. I generally use 2 of the " pillow bags, one ( if I need it under the stock at the heel and the other between the shoulder n butt. It works well prone too ( if I could just get up from being prone...HEHEHE..). I like the " pillow bag " cushion better than the elastomer pads. It seems like they cushion the recoil a bit better . leroy....

  31. At my age, I’m past being concerned if I don’t look manly enough by using a pad when I’m shooting. I’d rather protect my shoulder and be able to get out to the range whenever I can vs. having to take a pass because I’m too sore, or doing long term damage. As @Garufa says, a lot depends on the platform, and I’ll add proper technique goes a long way. My M14 in 7.62mm/.308 has a real punch. I came up with a pad I can wear on my shoulder using an elbow pad and old elastic belt. It’s thin enough that I can get the stock seated properly, but thick enough to take the edge off the recoil. In the winter when I’m shooting with a sweater on, I don’t really need it, but in warm weather with just a t-shirt on, it really helps.

  32. No, this one doesn't include a power supply for use in the house. It being a 50w mobile though, it only requires an 11amp 12v power supply for use in the house. However, my advice if you're just getting into it...get at least a 23-30amp power supply so you can run a 100w HF rig in the house down the road as you progress into the hobby. As you do grow in the hobby and get more radios, having a decent power supply up front makes things easier down the road. I have upgraded my home power supply more times that I care to admit over the 12-13 years I've been doing it. I finally just broke down and get a Aston 50amp rack mount powersupply which set me back about $600 but it lets me power lots of radios at once (transmit on one at a time). For a good beginner power supply, I really like the Powerwerx 30amp and it's relatively inexpensive for what it is (smaller home station). I'll link it below. I used one of these for years and while it is a switcher (a linear power supply is better), it's still a really good one. https://powerwerx.com/ss30dv-desktop-dc-power-supply-powerpole?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22365243086&gbraid=0AAAAAD_u17cCa22Ttx8QSuiXaID20m9OV&gclid=Cj0KCQjwyIPDBhDBARIsAHJyyVjf3oEY4kr22DqDCFqjRqk2Qt_8LdR8tDgskMOuvZPUVK5P-v8c1nMaAnOOEALw_wcB

  34. This is what I think, to be honest. At least a couple of of Suppressor company were caught trying to quash the HPA in the House Reconciliation bill. One of them happens to be in John Thune’s state. Wouldn’t be a bit surprised that a “ campaign donation” was made to him and others. I also won’t be surprised if Mrs. MacDonough is fired after this travesty is signed into legislation. That’s of course, it gets enough Republicans votes. The non-partisan CBO says it’s going to increase the national debt by 3.3 Trillion by the year 2035. Some budget hawks are not happy and the margin is razor thin. I will not cry if it doesn’t pass.

  35. I sent this to our Senators; I am very disappointed in the US Senate allowing an appointed liberal to divert progress against the infringements on our God given right to keep and bear arms. The NFA of 1934 was written to combat a problem created by the US congress with prohibition. Specifically, making certain legal firearms illegal in an attempt to protect authorities from organized crime that grew powerful by making money smuggling alcohol. If we look at historic court rulings and Constitutional amendment, we can see that it is Unconstitutional to attach a fee, tax, or test to any Constitutionally guaranteed right. The NFA goes against the Constitution and needs to be overturned. It seems our court system while being protective of the right to vote, have a blind spot to "shall not be infringed" so it is up to congress to strike the NFA in it's entirety. Joe Biden was a liar, Cannons were perfectly legal for citizens to own. Our founders wanted the populace to be able to defend themselves and their country. Make it right.

  36. Someone educate me, please. This parliamentarian dudette removed the part that took this stuff out of the NFA, but left in a reduction in the tax cost? Why the hell do we even allow a lib to be in that position when. We control the senate?

  37. Agreed, lesser of 2 evils. I will say, however, that the time to vote your conscience is in the GOP primary. The moderate/RINO seems to keep winning the big nominations instead of the conservatives.

  38. The longer I live the more I wish I lived in the days of the past. The days when the Constatuon was the law of the land. When laws were not made up by the unelected. When the legislator did not pass laws that punished us for the crimes of the criminal I believe as long as poor candidates are presented to us to vote we will never get back the rights we've lost. The second amendment was written in a way to cover everything, not just firearms.

  39. Voting for Democrats is a definite loser- Just look at the disaster any Democrat run city or state leaves- So not voting for the Conservatives is also not the answer-

  40. I don't believe there's enough suppressors and SBRs sold yearly for the tax revenue to be the reason it was removed. I don't believe the GOP ever expected it to pass from the get-go. I think they just put it in there to have a bargaining chip they were willing to concede on to get the rest of the bill passed. They only succeeded at making the Dems continue to look like the 2A enemies they are and they got to pose as our 2A allies for a few weeks.

  41. I’ve called and emailed Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Haggerty and Tim Burchett. Basically saying this. Please pressure Senate Leader John Thune to remove Elizabeth MacDonough from her position of Senate Parliamentarian and restore the original wording for the SHORT Act and HPA to the Big Beautiful Bill. I have never been more disappointed in the RNC in my life! The RNC is in serious jeopardy of losing my vote in the coming midterms and possibly for good! I have also emailed John Thune basically saying the same thing and also posted the same thing on Twitter (X).

  43. The Durham County GOP had a raffle. They would give away one gun a day through May. $30 a ticket. They texted me that I had won a Winchester Defender pump action 12ga. I was so excited. I picked up the shotgun and bought 100 rounds of 00 buck shot. Unfortunately, I just had my shoulder replaced and cannot shoot it until September. I have a few shotguns but not a 12ga pump. This Defender is made in Turkey. I have a Remington Wingmaster 16ga that I have had since the 1960s. It is smooth as butter and will rack a shell with one hand. When I raise it to my shoulder I am automatically looking down the barrel. It is a beautiful shotgun that has put a lot of meat on the table. This Defender......not so much. I am 6'2" and I have to reach for the forearm to rack the slide. There is nothing smooth about this shotgun. I could buy a new stock for it but that would cost as much as the gun is worth. I think it needs some breaking in, so in September I'm going to run that buck shot through it. It is camouflaged, so I got that going for me.
