  1. A pirate walked into a bar, and the bartender said, "Hey, I haven't seen you in awhile. What happened? You look terrible. "What do you mean?" said the pirate, "I feel fine." "What about the wooden leg? You didn't have that before." "Well," said the pirate, "We were in a battle, and I got hit with a cannon ball, but I'm fine now." The bartender replied, "Well, OK, but what about that hook? What happened to your hand?" The pirate explained, "We were in another battle. I boarded a ship and got into a sword fight. My hand was cut off. I got fitted with a hook but I'm fine, really." "What about that eye patch?" "Oh," said the pirate, "One day we were at sea, and a flock of birds flew over. I looked up, and one of them s**t in my eye." "You're kidding," said the bartender. "You couldn't lose an eye just from bird s**t." "It was my first day with the hook."

  3. Yes. The treasure is the greatest of all. The ultimate sacrifice that an ordinary man has given to his fellow Countrymen. His body was mangled or lost in time and cannot be identified. To be nameless is to not exist. The sentinel guard is the very least this Country can do to honor those that have given everything for the rest of us to carry on. Even though they may be nameless, their service will never be forgotten. I believe we will guard that tomb, as we should, until this Country has fallen.

  9. I have no shame in admitting that every time I read and think about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Sentinels who stand guard, I weep. I weep for the sacrifices made, and I weep for a nation that no longer values the liberty those sacrifices were for.

  11. So true, and it keeps getting left out of the story. We all know they're the best in the world, but we don't even know the specifics of this story yet. Two guys were holding off dozens if not hundreds of terrorists with the weapons and ammo they had on them for nearly half a day. By Woods and Doherty keeping those people alive, they removed any possibility of the propaganda's success - because there were people on the ground that could now tell their story instead of it being cooked up for political purposes. Normally I don't get worked up over much stuff, but this incident really burns me up. When we were in Bosnia/Macedonia you didn't run away from the building if a fellow soldier was in trouble. Everyone person in the area moves towards them as fast as you can laying down fire as fast as it would come out of the barrel, killing every thing that moved between the two points and you sure as hell didn't need to wait for clearance from the base to act. They just left all of those people to fend for their own lives thousands of miles from home on sovereign soil, it's reprehensible.

  13. For a while I realized that I needed (wanted) a railed 1911 to instruct with. I've had several folks shooting railed 1911s during low-light training and I like to be shooting the same type weapon as everybody taking the instruction. I've never really like the "looks" of a railed 1911, but the SIG just seem right to me - - - maybe its the slide profile. Thanks to forum member "jcoosi" who listed this TACOPS in the for sale section, I now can say that my need (want) has been satisfied. I'm impressed with this SIG TACOPS...., this coming from an old-school Colt guy. They are IMHO the most undervalued 1911 on the market right now. The only dislike I had was the grip safety. The shape of the OEM grip safety's upper tang has an edge that cuts into my thumb using a high hold. After a run of training I'd have a blister on the inside of my thumb joint. One day while doing a detail cleaning I was looking at the SIG's tang and it sure did seem to have the same cut and shape as a Kimber. So....., I had a spare Kimber grip safety in my parts box and figured, while not give it a try. It was a Drop-In! A little bit of fitting, a safety function test, and after a few hundred rounds - - - No More Bite from my SIG! Some of you might think of this as blasphemy, putting a Kimber part on a SIG, but Dang - - - Even the Finish Matched! These are the other mods that I have done to this TACOPS. - Novak rear sight with "Super Wide" .170 notch. - Harrison Design Extreme Service Trigger, Medium. - Cylinder & Slide High Grip Wide Extended Thumb Safety. - Ed Brown Double Diamond Checkered Cocobolo Grips. These parts are found on most of my other 1911s. I'm not a big fan of having an ambi-safety on the 1911, yet I found the stubbie one on the SIG to be worth trying. After running the gun for a while, I found engaging it with gloves on to be an issue for me, thus back to my normal C&S safety. I have John Harrison's trigger on all of my 1911, most being the short one. With the TACOPS I'm trying the medium trigger since I found the OEM supplied ERGO grigs to be thin. Even after installing the trigger the ERGO's thickest just didn't feel right, so I installed a set of the Ed Brown grips. The "Super Wide" Novak rear takes into account my "seasoned & experienced" eyesight.

  14. A long, LONG, time ago (roughly two years anyhow) I started building my first AR-15. Well, today it is nearly complete after having the barrel and hand guards installed. I still need to put some FDE rail covers on to balance it out (aesthetically) and there will certainly be an optic added as well. Thought I'd share it with everyone. Parts List: Spikes Lower & upper Magpul front and rear B/U sights Magpul RTE foregrip Magpul MOE grip Magpul MOE stock Daniel Defense 5.56 16" Gov't profile CHF barrel (1:7 twist) Daniel Defense low pro gas block Daniel Defense 12" M4 rail Yankee Hill muzzle break DPMS bolt DPMS lower parts kit Now it's time to get to work on the short barrel .300 Blk that I've been dreaming of!!!!

  17. The implication that any hobby or entertainment is the CAUSE of problems is insulting to anyone's intellect and offenive. The problems are caused by doing anything to excess, whether that is work, drinking, gaming, eating, sleeping, TV, you name it -- even shooting. Lady at work exercises too much and now her knees are going bad. What it comes down to is the press hates the idea that PEOPLE are the actual problem. The liberals want to blame objects instead of people. So they demonize whatever .... games, sex, guns, etc. Then do an unscientific study that "proves" whatever point via illogic. It is offensive as it is insulting to the intelligence of anyone reading their spew. I mean, I could easily do a "study" to show that 60 year olds who abused their knees have knee problems, and with some hand waving, "prove" that exercise is terrible to do and very hard on the body. It would be total nonsense, but that is what we are dealing with here. Connecting the deaths of a tiny number of people caused by a tiny number of (thugs or mentally ill nuts) to a hobby that is loved by millions and millions worldwide is exactly like the gun crap we see published : in both cases the people are all saints victimized by objects (or software, whatever).

  18. I am generally not a fan of Yeager and for the most part do agree that he comes off as a tool. However, this video does not add to that opinion. Countless times I have said the same thing that he did to customers who come in trying to buy the woman in their lives a gun. There have been times where I had to basically tell the guy to shut his pie hole, because the crap coming out of it was going to get his wife/gf/female relative hurt or killed. The only thing he said in this video that I disagreed with was defaulting to a shotgun for HD purposes. Though if a shotgun is going to fill that role, I do agree that a 20ga is a better choice than a 12ga for the reasons he stated.

  20. I don't consider safeties as a necessary feature for responsible gun owners. For the types of people that look down barrels and finger twirl with their drunken buddies, absolutely. The only pistol I have with a safety is my 1911, but that is required due to the SA design. DA pistols and revolvers don't need safeties.

  24. I live "immorally". I enjoy "living in sin", drinking to inebriation and playing video games. Sometimes at the same time even. None of this has caused me to be a criminal or a bad person. Not sure how old you are, 6.8, so I'll leave this for whoever want's to blame our current popular trends for problems... Did listening to Kiss cause you to be a drug dealer? Did listening to Elvis cause your wife to be a slut?

  26. This statement bothers me a bit. Maybe I'm all wrong on this but I don't think a property owner has any legal right to lay hands on a trespasser in order to remove him/her from his property unless the trespasser started the physical altercation. I would think that if a property owner did what you describe above he could be charged with and found guilty of assault and/or aggravated assault.

  27. Haven't you heard? Obama used HAARP to create this hurricane. Why on earth do you think it hit land during a full moon's high tide and while UN Observers are here? Seriously. He's going to use this as an excuse to cancel the elections, issue an executive order declaring him supreme leader of the world and the UN Observers are going to disarm us so that we can't stop him. 28. The "this is what's wrong with kids these days" crutch is older than video games. Video games, rap music, rock music, Elvis, whatever. Older generations have always blamed younger generations for their luxuries or fad interests.

  30. This is just offensive to those of us who play games. I have a full time job, but as I choose to be childless and watch ZERO TV, I find I have time to play 3 or so hours a night. I am only a tiny bit overweight, 15 pounds or so, and that was caused by good food, not video games (I am sure if I worked out 3 hours a night I would lose it but we could blame my 8 hours of ass sitting job more than the games if we want to blame something). I have played any number of violent games, from mortal kombat and similar stuff (one of them you could dismember your opponents) to first person shooters (kill kill kill) and more (including one of the wolfensteins where headshot sniping was fun with a scoped k98). I played the heck out of grand theft auto, where you could beat people over the head and steal their stuff and mix it up with the police. None of that has caused me to harm anyone or break any laws. Nearly every one of the "games are bad" people watch tons of TV, much of it violent or disturbing. This is just liberalism: "I can have my fun but yours should be banned" mentality. Same technique is used across the board when limiting freedoms (ban games, ban guns, ban booze/pot, ban certain types of sex, ban ban ban). Its all the same, people get worked up that someone else wants to enjoy a different form of entertainment. IMHO welfare should ONLY be paid in a very few cases and in most of those (barring 100% inability to do ANY job, including unable to sit in a chair and greet at walmart --- total mental handicapped or total physical handicapped or both in other words) work should be required. But that has NOTHING to do with video games.

  34. here's a link to a good review of Devil's Cut http://sourmashmanifesto.com/2011/07/18/devils-cut-review/ Devils's Cut has a smooth oaky sweet taste that goes down softly with no bite at all until later when you have had too many shots.. Very easy to drink straight up. it's better than some of the more expensive bourbons that I have tried.

  35. I couldn't disagree more. Tritium sights are fool-proof, as long as you swap them before they are depleted. Flashlights and weapon-mounted lights fail when you need them most. I prefer and use both, but won't count on either. A good set of night-sights is an absolute necessity for my defense guns. I factor it into my purchase. Personally, my aging eyes prefer the green/amber or green/orange combinations. The contrast really helps picking up the front sight in quick shoot training, without giving up accuracy at range.

  42. I can shoot a criminal and go eat lunch; I know that. I also know that’s not normal, but killing innocent animals is not normal either. I’m not shooting a dog unless it is attacking me, and I'm not hunting any animal for sport. If you need to put a dog down for a reason that’s one thing. If someone thinks they can kill them just because they are loose; they are wrong. I hold my dog in a lot higher regard than many people I know; he’s part of my family. It’s why I protect him and make sure he can’t run loose.

  44. I was going to early vote, but my 7 year old son asked me if he could vote too. I told him no, and he then said he wanted to go with me to vote. This was too cool of a request, so I am going to vote on Tuesday November 6th and I am going to take him to the booth to show him how to vote! I could have still taken him to early vote, but I want him to see the process on the day of the national vote.

  45. That voter i.d. crap really eats at me. Even if someone were using voter i.d. as a means of suppression, how difficult would it have been to get a freaking state issued photo i.d. over the last four years. Even If the cost were $100, the lazy, irresponsible bastards have had four years to save $100. There is no excuse! Some things are just too stupid.
