  1. I retired a little over a week ago, so I decided to purchase a few things that I’ve wanted for a while. Sorry for the crappy pictures.

  4. Im fired up about that PSA5...mainly for the simple fact it uses the delayed roller blowback like a normal MP5...my AR9 kicks harder than my 5.56 cause its standard blowback instead of DI...my PSA KS47 with a 7.5" barrel (and DI) shoots softer than my AR9 or my AK's, most of these 9mm sub guns are running direct blowback...except the MPX and the HK's causing them to kick harder than one would expect for such a "small caliber"....this PSA5 is gonna sell like hotcakes if its reliable...and if its not PSA will at least stand by it with their lifetime warranty. That JAKL....oh my....

  5. They’re going after Sig’s MCX as well with the JAKL. Expected MSRP of around $800. .300 BLK monolithic upper, 7.5” bbl, long stroke piston, non-reciprocating side charging handle, 3 position adjustable gas system, attaches to a standard AR lower.

  6. My last one went into the trash can. It took a hammer and reciprocating saw.

  7. Big fan of my semi-auto SBR MP5 and MP5-K. I also have two Scorpion SBRs and a Tavor 9MM, but nothing comes close to an MP5. I actually won my first 2-gun match with an MP5 up against about 70 other shooters with ARs or similar. Toss a can on it and shoot 147gr and it’s stupid quiet. I had a Colt 9MM AR SBR and wasn’t blown away by it. Sold it. It collected dust while I shot my MP5. If these are anywhere near $1K and function well, this will get interesting. You’re one pin away from getting rid of the brace and making it an SBR with a stock. The $300 Glock clones are also going to sell like crazy. Palmetto makes a good product at a great price. Never had an issue with them.

  8. If everyone sells a can of DR PEPPER at $3, you’ll pay $3 no matter what. If the guy down to road starts selling them at $2 you can either adapt or watch him outsell everyone ten to one. Eventually everyone will sell it at $2 to $2.40. PSA has always given great value to try and make prices better for everyone. That is the owners mission statement. They have sacrificed their own resale value to achieve this. PSA has always put out good quality, low priced items. Not CHEAP items. This introduction is another bite in the market that is needed because Glock has always given less for more. Plastic sights, plastic guide rods, no safety means less parts - yet they charge you more while Smith & Wesson has given you stainless guide rods, steel sights, and safety options (also metal) on guns for less $ this entire time. PSA is about to make things better for everyone, even if you don’t want one.

  9. PSA dropped a couple of big bombs at SHOT. First is that they are introducing a striker fired polymer pistol compatible with most 3rd gen Glock parts for $299 for the base, $350 for one with a threaded barrel, optic cut, and suppressor height sights. In addition they, have announced that the PSA5, their MP5 clone, will be out this year. Projected price is not finalized, but still expected to be below $1200. This places it several hundred below it’s nearest MP5 clone competitors, and over $1500 lower than the just released HK SP5. I swear, I’m not a paid spokesman or anything, but I am excited to see these product releases. PSA is really making some major moves right now that can have some serious market impacts with regards to pricing.

  10. That’s something that they don’t get enough credit for I think. They’re doing some great stuff at great prices, and yet they’re not sacrificing aesthetics to reduce costs. Keltec is doing some innovative stuff, but holy hell is everything they offer just bloody hideous looking. That’s a thing that turns me off of their products. Everything they make feels cheap and it looks even worse. Maybe it’s stupid, but I’m not spending my discretionary income for a range toy that I can’t bear to look at, let alone stand to hold.

  11. No didn't buy an MCX at market cost. I'm just sitting here, trying to be good about not spending money, and PSA seems determined to break me. Fully concur that PSA is taking the right tact here. I'm also quite impressed that they are putting good looking products out on the market that really anyone can see themselves shooting. If the mechanical reliability of them matches their AR offerings, it's going to make an impact in the market for sure.

  12. Other than them recognizing the individual right to keep and bear arms; no it does not. You research the states you want to carry a gun in and you understand their laws. We absolutely do not want something all states would agree with, or the Federal Government having authority over. We don’t need “help” from anyone else.

  13. Did you spend twice as much on an MCX? ——- Regardless of one’s feelings about any specific offering, I have to commend the company leadership on what they’re attempting to do here with these products. According to all of the PSA folks I’ve seen interviewed the CEO has taken the “common use” portion of the Heller decision as a mission statement for the company. The less expensive these offerings are, the more folks will buy them, resulting in higher numbers in circulation, and the harder it will be to claim that they aren’t “in common use” thus making it harder to ban them. You gotta respect that kind of ethos for the running of a firearms company.

  14. You're welcome to shoot in woods you own outside city limits. Else, you'll have to go to a range. If you're from out west where "public land" where you can do what you want is relatively common, there's exactly none of that here.

  17. True. But I can't get that(physically) in/out of my vehicle any more. Plus, I couldn't get it thru the doors at H'ville G&L...IF I went there any more. But that's a story for another time.

  18. peejman reposted his old posting above but I wanted to put in my agreement. The push the gun don't pull the slide method was taught in an NRA pistol class I took when several small women were having problems. I have taught several people that we're having racking problems the method since.

  21. I went today about 1PM. Like Grunt said it was packed, and that's no small parking lot. I was about to leave when I lucked into a parking space. But when I got up to where I could see inside; I decided I didn’t want to deal with that. I figured I would let the door busters die down and I would just waltz in; I was wrong. But if you like nuts to butts slow moving crowds; you would have liked this. I saw an unusual amount of gun cases going in. So I assume they were selling; but I don’t know that, or what, if any, the rules were.

  22. Target Sports USA has Geco 9mm in both 115gr and 124gr for $160/1000. I've shot a bunch of the 124gr and it's clean, accurate, and has reloadable brass. Winchester white box is good ammo, but a bit dirty. Remington bulk pack is a bit underpowered, causing problems for some guns.

  23. Seen more than a few of them in pictures without one (though more CZ as I think the SIG ships with a brace). I acknowledge the brace helps get them sold to a notable extent. Though, I'm old enough to remember when all you needed for a gun of this variety was a good sling so that you can push out for a stable enough firing position given that it was only for short distances. Then one day, pistol braces came onto the scene, and it's all been Brokeback Mountain tacticool from there on.

  24. I’m thinking that might help hold in the front rail block or whatever it would be called. For $300 I doubt you’ll get steel molded into the frame like a Glock. That’s how an M&P is put together.

  25. So then why are CZ Scorpions and SIG MPX's near universally loved? It's not about capability, it's about enjoyment. I used to take my ex-girlfriend shooting a good bit. She fired my short barreled AR a few times, and told me she didn't like it. She shot my GSG 522 and loved it. She also enjoyed pistols, just not my VP9 because of the way I have the grips set up. I have a hunch something like that PSA5 will be gangbusters with younger folks and women...exactly who we need to get into shooting. Whether it be through how maligned it's been in the media, or just plain disinterest, the AR platform just isn't for everyone, especially in those demographics.

  26. If it really does come in at that price point and is reliable, it is going to steal huge market share from everyone else in the MP5 game. I know I’ll go that way to scratch my John McLane itch.

  27. Essentially, yes. Considering the explosion of “Gucci Glock” manufacturers doing similar things in the last couple of years, my guess is that certain Glock patents must have expired to allow this. It appears to me that instead of going high end Gucci, PSA is staying within their wheelhouse and going the opposite direction to bring to market an affordable pistol built on a proven platform. It’s a genius move if you ask me, the built in aftermarket support has got to be massive right out of the gate.

  29. Old Thread as last post May, 2019. Now there is 9MM EZ as well the 380 EZ. A bit harder than the 380, but EZ. Better buy as cheaper AMMO.

  31. They are nice range boxes, a bit out-dated by today's standards, but very practical and easily (over)packed. I always like the ability to take 4-6 guns at one time. But then you needed ammo and extra mags. The storage under the slide was good for 8-10 boxes more or less, and those having the magnetic strip on the inside cover could get maybe 6-8 mags easily. All that gets to be pretty bulky, and heavy. Then the guys that shot a lot each time were seen with 2 boxes. One usually modified to hold a lot more ammo. Do you realize how much, and how heavy a full box like that can be? This was me in the early to mid 80's I took those 2 boxes every time I went shooting. By the time I carried them in, unloaded and got set up, I was pooped! No wonder I was such a lousy shooter. It took me a while, but I realized I didn't need an arsenal each time I went to the range. Started carrying 3-4, not even all the same caliber. So that sort of lightened the load. But again, that darn box, and after shifting to bags; it was too much. The smart set, the young and older shooters I see today seem to come in with one pistol maybe half a dozen boxes of ammo, and their "eyes and ears" in a bag. Me? Nope. I'm still overpacking. lol Two or Three guns and ammo. But I'm starting to see the light. Next time out...0ne Pistol and ammo! No more! Sure.
