Verbal communication skills. They need the confidence and vocabulary to adequately communicate clearly and with tact. The ability to listen, process what they heard, and respond appropriately. Whether asking or answering, with adult or another child. The value of hard work, and the satisfaction of a job well done. Both physical work of sports or building/fixing things, and mental work of school subjects. Work seems less like drudgery when they can see the goal/end game.

A lot of your post was accurate but you missed the mark on this part. I don’t recall these violent protests. I remember the city being peaceful by the national standard of the time. As for the hiring standards, nothing has changed since she took control in June of 2021. And all of the officers involved were hired between March 2017 and August 2020, nearly a year before her tenure began. I have no problem lambasting her for any role she played, but it’s not necessary to throw dirt on her that she didn’t earn. She’s earned enough on her own.

From where I'm sitting we have lost a great many teachers ( elders) and that's the key, or it was for me. My rearing was done by an older generation and now with each passing generation the circle grows smaller.

I agree with a lot of the above. Here are a few more. There are no perfect 3. How to walk away from a fight. Sometimes the best win is avoiding it. About that age I had no concept of that. Applies to boys and girls for both physical and verbal fights. Nothing is accomplished. Basic physical self defense. Nothing fancy, just how to save their ass if it turns into a brawl before they can walk away. Or in case an adult tries to drag them off. At that point there is no fair fight. Doesn't have to be martial arts or anything. How to punch without breaking their hand or cutting themselves up on teeth. How to correctly sharpen a knife. How to do basic car maintenance. Change the oil, swap the wipers, change out bulbs, etc. If nothing else, it is a way to save cash or make a few dollars in a pinch. How to cook basic food. Fry eggs, make grilled cheese, or heat up canned soup. You would be surprised how many adults can barely do that. How to wash clothes How to sew a basic stitch. Again nothing fancy, just something to close up a hole in the crotch of their pants or shirt in an emergency or until they can buy more. I've darned socks, sewed zippers together, etc just so I can make it until the end of the day and not have to leave work unpaid. Plus, I use the same skill in my hobby leatherwork. Kids need to know a lot to be well rounded and that age is a good time. When they get into their teens, they think they already know it all. lol

How to change a tire. How to do simple plumbing fixes.

I've told my boys to always be nice and respectful of every girl they meet. The ugly girls especially. Some of them will end up drop dead gorgeous in their 20s and they'll remember that you were the one that was always nice to them.

For years I preached at my kids to maintain "Situational Awareness" and always remember that "two is one and one is none". I have since heard both my kids repeat these. Made my chest swell.

That their value as a person is not defined by how much money they make, what kind of vehicle they drive, or how big their house is. Rather it is found in how hard they work, how hard they work on improving themselves, and how they treat others in this world. Teach them critical thinking skills and how to ask the tough questions of the people around them, the world around them, and most importantly about themselves. They should learn to be comfortable or at least confident enough to ask those tough questions and critically evaluate the answers for bias and truth especially in the case of authority figures or even their own parents. Teach them that life long education is a necessary and worthy endeavor. That does not necessarily mean traditional school, college or university by the way. Education comes in many forms and should be valued. There are many paths to success and happiness and most of them have nothing to do with money or what you own. They almost all come from within first. All that "money does not equal happiness" talk should be tempered with a really good lesson in money management. Money does not equal happiness but poorly managing it, debt, and constant struggles surrounding money can sure bring lots of stress and unhappiness.

I'll go along with what's already been mentioned. But I'll add learn to listen to, respect and learn from your elders. Good manners and common courtesy. As far as practical skills, by age 8-10 a child should know how to properly and safely use and care for a knife. The four firearms safety rules. How to fix simple no cook meals. Cereal, sandwiches and such.

According to the report, Baldwin missed the mandatory on-set firearms safety briefing. Then when he was getting a private safety briefing, he spent most of the time on his phone and not paying attention. He should never have been allowed to hold a gun. The production was plagued with safety issues all along to the point that some of the crew quit. The State of New Mexico has already heavily fined the production for numerous safety violations. From the DA: "The filing comes nearly two weeks after she first announced that Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed would be prosecuted for what authorities have described as a pattern of criminal disregard for safety. " The assistant Producer that actually handed Baldwin the gun struck a plea deal and avoided charges. In total, 3 people handled that gun and none of them properly checked it. In short: Baldwin thought he was too big a star to bother with the little things. That arrogance got someone killed.

The associate producer took a plea deal. He's just as culpable as Baldwin and the armorer* but only the first to squeal gets the deal. * If what the armorer's attorneys say is true, she may very well be found not-guilty.

He was an arrogant d!ck long before I knew his politics. That aside though, 1. He took on the role of producer in addition to actor and it's my opinion THAT makes him more responsible for what happens on both sides of that gun. 2. Instead of owning up to firing the gun, even accidentally toward her or in her direction he goes on national TV with George Snuggleupmypuss and proclaims he never touched the trigger. I feel a lot of actors would have at least said " you know what ,I was told to pull the trigger, I did, and now this whole thing is a terrible tragedy/accident. I feel like his multiple roles make him the main fall guy in this case. Unless I heard it wrong there are suppose to be a crew of 3 on the set when weapons are involved and he cut 1 out due to budget. That's as good as saying "we could have been safer but I wanted to cut corners".

There are a lot, but anymore the #1 thing that seems to be lacking is the ability of kids to cope with adversity and failure. They need to learn how to deal with adversity and failure and even understand what is even worth caring about. Failure is a great teacher. Putting them in positions to fail is not all bad. They need to then use some reasoning to figure out why they failed and how they can improve next time regardless of the scenario.

Ok I can see that justification but what about all the other producers between Baldwin and the armorer? As lead producer he is less “in charge” of operational procedures than a laundry list of others. As an actor we can agree to disagree on his responsibilities as an individual handling a firearm and I’ll acquiesce to the fact that we must hold actors accountable as we do someone in the general public. However, his role as an actor was to take a gun, handed to him by a hired arms specialist, point it at the camera and fire. So we are saying that he, as an actor, must take the firearm, remove all 6 individual bullets and check that they are blanks, then declare the weapon safe and proceed? I still believe the culpability falls on the person who knowingly brought or allowed live ammunition onto the filming site. If that’s Baldwin, fine charge him, but if not I feel it’s an overreach. I guess we’ll see when the full facts are disclosed and a jury of his peers decides the verdict.

Morning all, Darrell, check out the Castboolit forum where the myth of lead in Glocks is debunked. A properly sized cast and loaded lead bullet shoots just like jacketed bullet in a Glock. Mistakes and sloppiness in any type of reloading jacketed or cast bullets leads to failures in any firearm. ‘My last sentence on the reloading forum was “ If you’re in a hurry to reload, DONT” !! I purchased an M_P 9 M2.0 EZ last year for the same reason you did. Hands stink with arthritis. Aspercreme with Lidocaine every morning and during the day as needed for pain. It takes the edge off the pain somewhat. It helps. I have a CompTac IWB to carry it in. I like the pistol as I was using an MP9MC2.0 and the EZ cycles easier. Good choice for our problem. this is YouTube in 2011. Next to no budget using airsoft pneumatic guns. If they can do this, no reason big budget (or even low budget) productions can’t make do.

IMHO it would be the older pre-lock S&W L-frame 586/686. This gun was designed specifically for the .357 Cartridge. The older K-frame was nice to carry, but proved to be a bit light in both strength and weight for continuous use of Magnum ammo. The N-frame was plenty strong enough for whatever ammo you wanted to use. However, it is a big, heavy gun. S&W designed the L-frame to be beefy enough for any magnum ammo and still be readily carried. its the perfect .357 revolver. Just for the record, I'm also a big fan of the old Ruger Security Six line. But Ruger stupidly quit making them a long time ago. Never cared much for the GP-100 or the SP-101. They just feel clunky to me. But then if you truly want the best of the best and can afford the price : Korth!
