Let me start off with saying if you feel unable or unwilling to do the following care instructions then these aren't for you. Care Instructions 1. Keep your knife clean after each use. 2. You can wash your knife with soapy water. 3. Immediately dry off the knife. 4. Apply mineral oil or vegetable oil after use for long lasting results. 5. NEVER PUT YOUR KNIFE IN THE DISHWASHER!!! Made from 1/8" thick D-2 steel. Rockwell hardness is 58-60. They have camel bone and G10 handles. I'm not providing a block with these as one of the magnetic style blocks would be best. Your home and style and price range depends on what block you'd like. The magnetic blocks are all over Amazon, Ebay and o places. Price is $225 shipped for the set. I will only sell as a set.14 points

Don’t get me wrong, a Taurus is adequate, but honestly, as I am reading it, I think your mindset on it is a bit messed up. You are naturally correct in focusing on carry gun before the (presumably more expensive) fun gun in a couple of months. But the carry gun is life saving equipment, and therefore not something to skimp on. Especially when significantly better arms to be had for minimal price differences. On this forum you can often see well cared for Glocks (for example) go $400 or less. Additionally (and this part often gets overlooked) all the other equipment like spare parts, magazines, and (especially) holsters are ubiquitous. I recommend people build these costs into the initial investment for the best return. Lastly, have you shot numerous models, to include the Taurus, for firsthand experience? Online opinions (mine included) mean Jack squat in the face of personal experience.7 points

Here is my Springfield Saint AR pistol in 5.56 up for sale. There’s quite the story behind this one, so buckle up and let’s go for a ride to talk about it… I bought this AR pistol at a local gun store, and it was in pretty bad shape when I bought it. The anodizing was almost gone completely, handguard was cracked and broken. It obviously had a rough life with its previous owner. Now I’m the type of “rescue” person, and I only bought it so I could get it into better shape. I didn’t really need another AR pistol but it was a good price on it. Before I did anything with it, I took it shooting. And daggone it, the thing run pretty good. No hiccups or jams, light recoil, it was just a good little AR pistol. I replaced the broken handguard with a Troy Battlerail free float and rattle canned it in what turned out to be a pretty good looking blend of green & tan. It looked really good. Looking back on it, I should have been happy with that and just stopped there. But nooooo, anyone that knows me knows that’s not where this story ends. I never really cared for those Troy rails (hence why it was laying in my parts box forever), the slots in the rails are a sorta proprietary slot that isn’t mlok compatible and mounting a light isn’t easy. I thought this would be a really cool looking Mk18 ‘ish looking “clone”…. So I took the Troy rail off and ordered a really solid DD Mk18 copy made by ohhunt. A buddy of mine had one of these rails and it’s a really nice one, almost identical in every way to the DD version of course without the DD markings. While I had it apart, I stripped down the first paint job, and hit the upper and lower with a coat of primer and a flat Krylon camo brown. Having said all that, every time I paint anything I tape off things that aren’t supposed to be painted extensively. I guess because I didn’t stop working on this “project” when good enough was good enough, somewhere around this point I think I made the gun mad at me. It did not want to take this brown paint at all and gave me fits. After several light coats and plenty of time to cure between them, I eventually got it looking pretty good and re-installed the barrel and new Mk18 quad rail. Took it to the range and it still runs like a top. For a 10.5” barrel, this one is pretty darn accurate with the fixed front sight post and Magpul flip up rear sight. But at the end of this rescue project, I still really don’t have a need for it. I thought for a few weeks now that I’d just load it up and leave it in my truck as a truck gun, but I never liked the idea of leaving one in there unattended all the time, and just being honest here I’m to lazy to say I’ll carry it in the house at night. So with that idea out the window, I thought I’d list it up for sale hopefully going to a good home where it’s needed. I’m selling it as you see it in the pics, without a brace/magazine/muzzle device, but the price I feel is cheap enough to justify this. I’m asking $450 for this complete pistol (minus the brace/magazine/muzzle device as previously mentioned). I feel like braces and muzzle devices are very user preference items & magazines are dirt cheap if we don’t already have 20-30 of them laying around. I’m located in Morristown but willing to meet up within reason. This one is no beauty queen & won’t be winning any “pretty gun” contests, but it is a good solid quality gun that runs great and will protect you if needed to, or just give you a great time at the range thumping the berms with lead.6 points

In November, 2015 I decided to add a high capacity optic equipped pistol to my carry rotation. I had never even shot a S&W M&P but I am a S&W fan boy so I bought a new 4 1/4" M&P40 PC Ported and put a Type 1 (the only one made at that time) Trijicon 6.5 MOA RMR RM07 on it. I also installed the full Apex internals, everything that they sold for it. I tried a few different holsters and settled on the CompTac Flatline. Thousands of rounds through it and not a single malfunction of any kind. For defensive carry it is topped up with Federal 165 HST. When either of the M&Ps do nightstand duty they get a Streamlight TLR-1 A few years later I bought a 5" S&W M&P9 PC Ported and put a Trijicon Type 2 3.25 MOA RMR RM06 on it. It also has full Apex internals in it and rides in a BladeTech holster that I had used in IDPA for my S&W M&P9 Pro Series. About a half dozen years ago I decided I wanted a Trijicon RMR on a 1911. After looking at all of the "candidates" the least valuable one was a S&W SW1911 in .45 ACP that I had bought new in December of 2012. Because the Trijicon RMRs are wider than a 1911 slide Trijicon makes an adapter that includes a rear night sight and includes the front suppressor height night sight. After much research I decided to send the slide to Parker Mountain Machine, and I'm very glad that I did. I'm a retired Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, CAD/CAM Operator, CNC Programmer and Operator I can appreciate outstanding machine work when I see it. The machining is fantastic! I originally put a new Type 2 Trijicon 6.5 MOA RMR RM07 on it but later swapped with the M&P40 PC Ported as it gets shot and carried much more. I've already introduced the members to my S&W CSX with a 6 MOA SIG Romeo-X that is currently carried in a 1791 pancake holster. None of my revolvers have red dots, yet. Cheers James6 points

I know many don't like to speak of this, but it is a fact for all of mankind. The Bible says, "Every Knee will Bow before Christ." That means Yours and Mine. Do it in this realm, one is ok by faith, in the next realm, too late. Just come home from our nephew's funeral in Montgomery Alabama. He was our first extended family death, "Before His Time" we have experienced. Mark was 64. His death was totally unexpected. He had heart problems from about 18. May have had problems before that, but he found out, in the military, for sure. It was so bad they discharged him out of basic training. He entered training for the "Blue Beret" wing of the Air Force. The training was very strenuous. That is where he found out he had Heart problems. His wife and family are devastated. As we sat in the church yesterday, and saw all the people she had to greet, it was hard. He had 3 boys, one of which was killed in a stupid road rage situation, not his fault. Their son was 31. He was a passenger in a car and was thrown out and killed last year. His mother lost him and now her husband of 35 years. I was sitting there thinking, one had better be ready to meet God and Jesus, "NOW", because we are not knowing when our number will be called. Mark was a Christian. That is the only comfort his wife and family can gain from this situation. The son was a Christian also. Are you guys ready to go? I am. If not, you need to find Jesus and become a faithful follower of Him. Judgment is real and will be faced by all, in the next realm. "The Realm Of Departed Spirits." Learn about it from the pages of the/your Holy Bible. "It is truth, Guys!" Edited to add: Read about our impending death in (Luke 16:19-31) It is red letter text, straight from Jesus Christ words, recorded for us in Luke. That will be our next realm should Jesus not come back to earth before we meet our death first.6 points

IMO, the NRA is a useful whipping boy. They have the name recognition across pretty much the entire spectrum of political leanings. GOA, FPC, etc, not so much. And I like it that way. This gives the anti-gunners a big NRA-sized target and leaves those other orgs doing the actual work mostly left in peace to do what they do. The NRA is sort of a useful idiot.6 points

The higher ups sure had a good time on our money. When they busted Wayne LaPierre on all his illegal perks to the tune of 5.2 million, it sure shined a light on their corruption. I was no longer an NRA member after almost 30 years. I'm sure we're kicking a dead horse here, but good to be reminded why gun owners should swing their support to Gun Owners of America and other such pro-gun organizations. Our local range, Middle Tn Sporting Association, voted to eliminate the long running requirement of belonging to the NRA to be a MTSA member last year. That vote easily passed.6 points

I have what I believe to be is an unfired, LNIB Winchester 1886 Extra Light in 45-70 for sale. Made in Miroku, Japan. Includes a brand new and uninstalled Lyman receiver sight. This thing is absolutely beautiful. They don’t make this model anymore. $1250 cash FTF around Columbia to a Tennessee resident over 21 years old who is legally eligible to own firearms. HCP preferred. Not really looking for any specific trades but you never know. Could always use a Trijicon RMR HD.5 points

READ FULL AD I’m selling this UNFIRED colt stainless 1911 on behalf of wanting an old military or civilian antique 1911. It’s unfired because it’s my gun that I bought new. Buyer must sign bill of sale with DL# included. If you look like you’re up to no good, we won’t be making a deal. $775 is a great deal for this firearm so I can’t go any lower. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Due to the massive increase in messages, I’m changing the status of the ad and remaining in contact with people interested. Thanks.5 points

FFS Fuddclowns, just shut up. GOA and NAGR are doing all the heavy lifting with FPC helping. NRA is a dinosaur org, full of corruption, which has engaged in a symbiotic relationship with the jack-booted baby burners of the ATF in a kabuki theater of "muh activism". Been sick of it for a decade, and then some. FU NRA, go away.5 points

I had a heart attack April 2024. Blood clot went to my heart. As I was leaving in the ambulance, I felt the attack taking place. Lost control of my arms, legs, sweating profusely, lost my vision, and was slowly slipping away. I knew it totally and was ready to go into the next realm. I was NOT scared in the least and welcoming my next life in Paradice. My wife spoke up, from the front seat of the Ambulance, and I began to realize, I was not the only one affected by my passing. I ask God to keep me here, if it be His will. In 3 minutes, I knew I would be coming home from the Hospital. They took me to operating room, inserted the ballone and opened my artery, and inserted 2 stints restoring the blood flow. I now have 11 stents in my arteries around my heart. Dr said the clot had blocked the artery 100 %. Did Cardiac Rehab and came back to where I was before the attack. I thank God daily. Glory belongs to Him. I must surmise God still has something for me to do here in this realm. Being a faithful Christian is the only way one can have that kind of hope and experience. My trust was totally in Jesus Christ and had confidence He would do exactly as promised. I am proud to say I am a Christian and follower of Jesus. Praise and Glory to God in heaven. I will tell you I had guilt feelings afterwards and wondered why I lost total recall of my wife and family at that momentous time. Prayed about it for days. Finally realized we will go into the next realm by ourselves. My wife nor kids will accompany me. Mankind will face judgement on their own. We will be judged on the words contained within the pages of the Holy Bible, and what we did with those words, period.5 points

I just don't get why removable FCUs are so revolutionary. I can take my FCU and put it in a smaller grip frame. Or a blue grip frame. So what. They seem kinda gimmicky. I don't see a scenario where I will pull parts from one frame and switch it to another based on some new need. If I want a smaller or bigger gun, I will buy a smaller or bigger gun.5 points

My nephew came over today and had a used Sig 226 9 MM he purchased from the guy that purchased it new. We took it to my range and ran 30 rounds through it. He wanted to hold down the round count through it. Round total is now 48. The 226 looked brand new and not a scratch on it nor any holster wear. Still in original box with all paperwork. Great pistol. Haven't met a Sig I haven't liked. I gave my Sig 229 to my grandson. He is a 40 cal fan. Edited to add. My wife said for me to give our nephew a gun. Gave him my new 686 + 3 inch, when I am through with it. Also gave my Grandson my Ruger MIni 14 Ranch Hand 223/556 2nd generation carbine when he was here last week. Going to take it to him in Sept when we travel to S Carolina and let him borrow it until I am through with it. Really thinning my collection so my wife will not be bothered with giving them away.5 points

We've had this discussion before on here a few times. But I'm still of a mind that the NRA shouldn't be doing anything that isn't related to firearm safety, training, and education. They lost the plot going into legislative influence, and didn't do much of a good job. Let GOA handle all that, and SAF can work the courts.5 points

@ TN Phil - The Taurus you mentioned is probably fine. A Ruger LCP or LC380, Shield, Taurus 605, Charter Arms .357, Rock Island M206, or used Glock would also serve just fine and not break the bank. If I had it to do over again, I would buy my first carry gun and then buy a good belt and holster, plenty of ammo, a way to carry reloads, a good light, frequent trips to the range, and classes on practical shooting - before buying another gun. You are starting a journey, not choosing a destination, and this stuff would help you get down the road smoothly.5 points

I wasn’t saying ya’ll are fussing, just making a general comment about the yearly summertime drama the weather people and/or treehuggers stir up and the mentality of people nowadays: Guys at work: The high today is 106!! Global warming!! Me: No, the high is 93. Them: But TV/news/social media said 106! Me: That’s the heat index, a made up number. The temperature is the same as last year and the year before and the year before that. Them: But it’s 106!5 points

I was finally able to pick up a Winchester 71. Been on the hunt for one for quite awhile. All the ones I wanted were in excellent shape and had the price tag to match. I found this one in an auction out west. It has seen a lot of use but that just gives it more character. The rear sight has been removed and a Lyman peep sight installed. I guess because of that nobody seemed interested and I picked it up pretty cheap. Now I just have to give it a good cleaning and put a few rounds through it.5 points

Agreed. I'll give the seller another free bump (even though its already at the top). I've listed a lot of stuff here, GOC, & various other forums and groups. At $20/year, this is the most expensive (lol) of all of them and is so worth it. The amount of bs and riff raff it keeps out is well worth it. And the feedback here is far more reliable. I just wish it had more reach but that's also a double edged sword that comes with the aforementioned bs. All in all, I deal with far more confidence here than anywhere else.5 points

Just attended a social function, as couple from our church just celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary and their kids were having a get together for them at our local events center. I had to dress for the occasion and put on a pair of light tan colored Kakis and Polo shirt. My pocket in those trousers is a little small for my usual K frame size 7 shot revolver and it prints really bad, so I put the Taurus in the safe and retrieved my Ruger Max 9. I had the extended 12 round mag in it, so I took it out and inserted the 10-rounder. The Max 9 fits that pocket much better but does still print however not near as bad as the revolver. It had 11 rounds of 9 MM on board instead of the 13 I usually carry. I really have come to like the Max 9. It is just right for big or smaller medium size pocket carry. IMO, only those who really know where they are in our solar system would even notice the bulge in my pocket. The Max is very easy to draw, fire, and get good hits with. I really like the green pipe sight and how the steel pistol feels in the hand. Even with the 10-round mag I can still get a good 2 1/2 finger hold (medium size hands) on the grip which is enough to hold to and makes shots more accurately. Even with continuous fire with 147 Gr + p S D H P ammo my half finger does not disengage the grip. If looking for a good, concealed carry pistol, for either IWB holsters or medium to large size Pocket carry, the Max deserves your eye for at least a checkout. The thing is built like a tank. I use a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster to carry the pistol in. I only paid 369.00 plus Tax for the Ruger. It comes with both mags.4 points

JustED, it was not my pistol and nephew wanted to keep the round count low. I never asked him why but let him have his way. That pistol is a tank and felt like a pistol should. No fantastic plastic there. I will admit the pistol was pristine. Never noticed a blemish on the pistol. I cleaned and lightly lubed the Sig and sent him back home with it. I started with about 70 firearms and am now down to about 25. Several I inherited from my dad. All my 4 daughters, SILs, and grandkids (6) have mementoes from Pop Pop's collection. The ones that use them several different ones. Moped, I don't want to adopt anyone but still have a few to give away before I will be satisfied. Only pistols left and down to 1 12 Ga Mossberg mdl 500 house gun. Leaving my wife an ample supply should I go first. Does my heart good to see them putting the firearms to good use. I did when I was young and the little $20.00 410 I got in 1957, at age 9, is still killing squirrels, rabbits, and turkeys in South Carolina with my grandson and his dad. SIL sent me a movie of Parker killing a Red Squirrel this spring with the 410, and told me he really loved the little Stephens. He Turkey hunted also with it. Brought tears of joy to my eyes. One can't ask for more than that, guys. I have loved them in the past, and now they are still being loved. Is that not what you want for your treasures????4 points

IMHO, the right philosophy is to get yourself armed as fast as possible with the best gun you can afford. Your life will NOT be in jeopardy if it's a $250 Taurus instead of a $500 <insert brand that will better impress us on the internet>. If you like guns, you'll eventually want to upgrade to something with features you like better, but for now I think you're making a solid choice on a solid firearm, which is better than waiting until you have 60-80% more money saved up.4 points
