What is that?

HAHA you tell me. It turned up on a Google image search and I felt it needed to be marveled by TGO.

***edit*** I can't stop laughing. How would you even hold it to use the aimpoint??? The second pistol grip is what kills me

"but i've modded my mosin to make it a tactical home defense weapon!" so you did not do this...... thank goodness on your soul.

hah, no. In fact, that image may be a photoshop considering that the compensator doesn't appear to be in line with the barrel.

I still think this is one of the coolest things ever...

That's what I'm talking about! Those things are just plain cool. Not sure how many rounds I would fire with it, but I've given thought to building one. Don't think I'll do it but its nice to dream.

It hurts my hand just thinking about firing that.

Looks pretty cool in a 'steampunk' kinda way.  My problem would be that - in order to be able to cycle it as quickly as possible - the bolt would have to be cycled with the right hand.  That would mean shooting it left-handed which, in my case, would mean shooting it with my weak/non-dominant hand.  Combine the recoil with that odd grip and shooting left handed and I might actually hit the broad side of a barn.  That barn would be good and shot, though.

No you rotate your right hand palm up and throw the lever with your left hand. You will need to also lean you head to the left so as not to catch a chunk of brass/steel in the head.

Unfortunately, I believe it requires a tax stamp since it started as a rifle.  My understanding is you can go pistol -> rifle -> pistol, but can't go rifle ->pistol.  It's classified as a "weapon made from a rifle".

I could be mistaken about this...but I do believe something about some Mosin's being imported "as pistols" specifically for this purpose. Meaning that they were modified before coming into the United States (and thus, before ATF even knew about them).

I think you are right about doing it yourself though.

p

That's the problem. If it was just finding a bubba'd 91/30 and having the barrel cut and crowned it would be done by now.

Gun laws make me :(
