Russia invades Crimea ?

We don't need or want another war. But if the gun grabbers keep on trying to push their agenda on the rest of us. I can guarantee most of the American people have a breaking point and we all can take so much. Just wish the POTUS would worry more about what is going on here in the states with our own people before telling Russia "We are against their decisions to invade Crimea". Instead of helping these other countries out around the globe, worry about the homefront first. We have people unemployed, starving and at their breaking points and yet there is aid given to these other countries that "hate" us. I'm sorry, but enough is enough. SO what if Russia invades Crimea, does it affect the majority of the american public? Heck no.

Isn't this the same guy that received a Nobel Peace prize before he had even moved into the White house and unpacked?  Then he runs around trying to pick fights with all the bullies he can find in lands far far away? Draws lines in the sand and then hopes and prays someone will come along and help him out before he actually has to back up his red line like Putin did in Syria. Now he is trying to pick a fight with the very guy that bailed him out of the Syrian deal. I have come to the conclusion that the most powerful leader of the free world is not the brightest light bulb in the lamps around Washington DC..............jmho

Unless the war is started by a republican....then it's fine..

Historically most wars and 'police actions' were entered when democrats were in charge, but both bushes have been exceptions to the rule. Perhaps excellent reason not to elect a third bush from florida for any office more elevated than dog catcher. :) Edited by Lester Weevils

There will always be another war. The US has been in a near state of perpetual war since it was founded. Just look at the last half a Century. Korea, Vietnam, South America, Central America, (Yes we had troops actually fighting in El Salvador and Honduras), Grenada, Panama, Kuwait Flagged Tanker Escort (Remember one of our ships hitting a mine?), Libya, DS, continued Ops in the Gulf, Southern Watch and Northern Watch, lasted a decade, OIF,  and of course currently Afghanistan but that does not count the troops fighting the War on Terror in about 30 other Countries. And that isnt even all of them in the last 50 years. Go  back to our Founding and we have been fighting almost continuously. Hell go back BEFORE our founding and we have been fighting almost continuously. There will always be another war, but it wont be this one (Or shouldnt be)

So Putin's Parliament has authorized the use of Force in Ukraine. How very Democratic. And they will be pulling their Ambassador to the US (The Parliament has asked Putin to do that) because of Kerry and Obama's remarks. Those are certainly Cold War moves.

Putin is (Again) playing Statesmenship games that he was playing as a Soviet Political Officer 30 years ago while Obama was handing out flyers on a Chicago Street corner.

This is why all of those "Peace through Superior Firepower" T-Shirts were popular during the Reagan era. But it is also why the Iranians stormed our Embassy and held Americans captive for 444 days during the Carter era.

If no one wants a war with Russia then I would suggest we should actually be looking at Israel and Iran and not Russia. We have a Chamberlain in the White House, just yesterday Iran stated that their Nuclear ambitions will go forward. Israel two weeks ago announced they would not allow it to happen, regardless of what the rest of the World wants their survival is at stake. IF Israel attacks Iran, and Iran and their allies in the region counter attack in a massive way, with lots of weapons that WE supplied them, we could very well see a regional war there. One of the Iranians Allies is Iraq (They feel Obama abandoned them, and with good reason), another is Syria, not to mention the conglomeration of smaller "Terrorist" Armies. Do we go to their aid against Iran and their allies?

I ask that because in case anyone forgot, when Obama was saber rattling against Syria, Putin put together a coalition, that coalition included Iran (Who just sent their future subsurface Navy headed to the border of our territorial waters) and China, who's Generals have clearly stated several times over the last two years that they were preparing for an INEVITABLE war against the United States as well as  increasing activity in the Pacific and harassing the Japanese and escalating tensions (Locking on Japanese ships with ASM Radar and that sort of thing and even nearly intentionally running their ships into US Ships). North Korea Under the new Kim has become especially dangerous, being allies of China if China were to move they would too, we have always known that,

The entire planet is a tinderbox, economically and militarily at the moment. The greatest Democratic type Government that ever existed for freedom, this Representative Republic, is no longer "Free" in the true sense of the word and it's people are barely Represented.

One wrong move by any country could set the whole thing off. Remember that the situation was very similar in 1938. Obama has alienated our Western Allies, stating three times that Britain was no longer relevant, (Notice they didn't come to our assistance on Syria) and by spying on the rest of our allies, down to their cell phones. This administration has shown time and time again disdain for Israel. And remember that it only took two shots from a revolver to set off WWI.

Forget just "sending our troops to war again", you IRR guys, including you retirees not yet 55, should make sure your uniforms are ready and shot records up to date. I like playing Axis and Allies, (The board game) but the old guys tell me that playing it for real was not so much fun.

Chamberlain sat back with his "Agreement" while Germany invaded Poland, Czech and France. Obama is sitting back with his "Iranian and Chinese" agreements while their Ally Russia invades the Ukraine. (And who knows who's next).

Kerry threatened "Grave" consequences. Putin says "Bring it on" twice now. Obama would have to be completely out of his mind to do anything against Russia militarily.

The russians will do as they please in the Ukraine and no-one (....except the Ukrainians...) will stop it...  Sevastopol and all the territory on the north edge of the black sea is all part of the old USSR territory... Sevastopol was traditionally the southern deep water port for the russian navy... There are lots of ethnic russians livin there... The real loosers in this will be the poor Ukrainians...

I hate ta see it happen; but there is nothin anybody can do, no matter who is in charge here in the states... Ukraine is next door to Russia.... Us tellin the russians anything about the Ukraine would be like them tellin us about mexico or canada....

I'm Always Of The Mindset That We Have More Pressing Domestic Issues To Be Concerned With. We Already Have Our Spoons In Too Many Pots.

Yes, we have to make sure that gays can buy wedding cakes. That's much more important and newsworthy than Russia invading a neighboring country. :dunno:

I Didn't Say Anything About Cakes Or Gays. If That's What Comes To Your MinD When Someone Mentions Domestic Issues, Have At It. This Is A Very Newsworthy Story, But Nothing That We Should Concern Ourselves With. America Is Not Going To Intervene, So Why Get Your Panties In A WaD? If We Are Going To Continue To Play World Police, This Crisis Needs To Get In Line And Wait Its Turn.

We are heading back to détente. My prediction - There will again be a Russian base in Cuba, before Obama leaves office. All the infrastructure is still there from the last time. It will be up to the next administration to decide whether to spool up the military again, and strengthen the (unilaterally below New-START treaty levels) reduced nuclear stockpile.

Probably further hammers nuclear verification and validation inspections between the two countries, and further START treaty related negotiations.

And - it goes without saying that the nuclear cooperation work (legacy stuff from Soviet Era) with Ukraine is hosed.

(which reminds me...Keep an eye on Israel and Iran.  Perfect time for escalation regarding the Iranian centrifuge program)

( ****it Bert!  That's a lot of analysis for one post....)
