The order of govt., like the forward progressing order of the universe, is chaos, not actual order. It is a self-preserving entity like The Blob. Its only concern is to eat and grow, like the Borg, to assimilate everything in its path. It does not consider itself to exist for the benefit of others, but that others exist for its benefit. Perhapss SkyNet became conscious well before 1997. The Founding Fathers foresaw the inevitability of the bloated growth of the behemoth called govt. and made provision in multiple ways to restrain this monster's growth, to keep it reigned in, and a "break glass in case of emergency" button called the 2nd Amendment in case the self-destruct sequence accidentally or intentionally became activated. The question will be, do the Citizens of the United States of America possess the fortitude to break the glass if and when the time should come?3 points

I spent three years of my life fighting in Iraq. Every house was authorized to have an AK-47, and there is no right to bear arms guaranteed by their Constitution. They were allowed firearms (fully automatic ones at that) because it was understood that Iraqis had the right to defend themselves, and the security situation was bad. This was a policy decided on between the military commanders, State Department and Iraqi government. There was no mass confiscation of personal firearms and Iraqis shot at us all the time. Unless we value the freedoms of Iraqis more than our own rights guaranteed by our Constitution then I don't see how what you are saying about our military makes any sense.3 points

"During an arrest, you think since you are not guilty, how can they arrest you? Why should you run away? And how can you resist right then? After all, you’ll only make your situation worse; you will make it more difficult for them to sort out the mistake. And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say goodbye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! We did not love freedom enough. Every man always has handy a dozen glib little reasons why he is right not to sacrifice himself." ~ Alexander Solzhenitsyn3 points

The Gov. tells us what kind of lightbulbs we can buy, what kind of toilet we can buy, and is working on what size soft drink we can buy. Any one that thinks they won't tell us what kind of guns we can have has their head in the sand.3 points

Got a chance yesterday to try out the supressor on the M&P 15-22 in the backyard. This is my son doing the shooting. Bolt made more noise than the report. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGwF4wguz3o2 points

I'm planning on spending some time with my family the next several days and I will probably avoid the computer as much as possible. So, I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. As bad as things appear to be I count myself lucky to have this place to come and unwind and bitch about the state of the Union and the world at large. Thanks David for this haven. I feel privileged to have come to know folks here that I feel I could count on if I was desperate, Mike and Mike and 6.8 and Gordon, and David, and.... well you get the idea. Anyway, I hope everyone here has a great holiday. Be sure to enjoy your time with family and friends, stay safe, and say a prayer for the state of the union.2 points

Government is a necessary evil. It possesses a mindless urge to expand. It can only do so at the expense of liberty. Its' only tools are deception and naked force. Only heroic efforts and constant vigilance keep it confined, lest it escape and destroy its' creators. It creates and controls mindless drones who look just like real people, yet they exist only to expand its' power. If that isn't the subject of nightmare, then what is?2 points

I would like to share a personal experience with some of my closest friends about drinking and driving. As we all well know, each of us may have had a close call or two with the authorities on our way home from an occasional social session over the years. Indeed, a couple of nights ago, I was out for an evening with some friends and had a couple of cocktails and some rather nice red wine. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before - I took a cab home. Sure enough, while traveling home I passed a police DUI check point, but since it was a cab, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise; as I have never driven a cab before, and I am not sure where I got it or what to do with it now that it's in my garage2 points

Now, I haven't watched the video, but I have to ask, what makes the separation of a husband and a wife cause either of them to be any less of parents? Sure, sometimes one parent of the other vanishes, but not always. I just find that to be a very ignorant statement. Again, that is said before watching the video, so if there is something in the video that makes it obvious he was a nutjob, I am sorry.2 points

The Walther PPS is very reliable, accurate, and highly concealable. The trigger is also very smooth, and it's a striker fired handgun which I prefer. Walther has made small handguns for many years and I think they produce a high quality product. Also, you should check out a Ruger LC9. It's a slim gun, about the size of Walther PPS, and less expensive. It's a double action, hammer fired handgun with a longer trigger pull. I have both and would recommend the Walther PPS if you have the funds. They're going for about $550 to $600 on Gunbroker (new). I noticed that CDNN was recently selling the LC9's for about $320.1 point

I do jerky too. Top round is the best (london broil) and bottom round is the 2nd best. I usually get the bottom because they go on sale often and i just cut them myself. I use the hot and spicy allegro to soak. It is delicious!1 point

Not saying it can't totally happen, but no other country in the world AFAIK has firearm ownership granted as a right in its constitution. Of course, the interpretation of that is obviously, um...flexible. But the fact that it is there is big. Of course, any of the Bill of Rights could be legally repealed, too. - OS1 point

I don't give two wags of a rats ass what they know anymore. I'm so sick of the fearmongering and paranoia about Gestapo visits I could puke. In all honesty, I'll obey the law as long as I can, then if they want to kill me, I will noisily. Some days I hope it's sooner rather than later. I don't care what watch list I'm on, all my guns are legal and trying to take them away would be theft and I will fight thieves. Ive been living under the paranoia most of my life and I'm tired of it. I just don't care anymore. I'm through with it. I wrapped some leftovers in my hat put them in the fridge. A much better use for reynolds wrap in my opinion. This last round of AWB talk was it for me. It's just not fun anymore.1 point

Could also be a bait and switch by the administration with the media helping. I mean if it isn't on television people will forget about it. People then concentrate on something else and the gun control measures will be easier to get passed under the radar. I honestly belive that the administration is so bold they would push it through regardles of how many constituents call or write their offices. We will see because I am gonig tos tart writing a letter a day while they are on break. One of the biggest things we need to make sure of is if there is a vote it needs to be a by name vote and not a voice vote. Voice votes is where whoever makes the most noise wins and the noise level is subjective to the person asking for the vote. This is how Charlie Rangel, yes the same one with ethics violations and a slew of other violations, was able to get the Hughes ammendment banning machine guns passed. Dolomite1 point

If they get semi automatic rifles and hi cap mags today, They will be after semi auto pistols tomorrow. When they get them they will be after shotguns then revolvers. Their ultimate goal is to eliminate all guns. Everytime we compromise, we are moving them one step closer to that goal.1 point
Fox "News" is the only "news" outlet to sue in court, and win the right to lie to their viewers. Do you have another source confirming this story? Sorry, posting Fox is like posting MSNBC. Neither of them are out for the news, both are out for what sells to their target audience. http://www.philly2ph...isinform_public http://www.relfe.com...egally_lie.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Akre
Well, the issue I have with this story is that they are reporting hearsay. There is no proof or content; just a guy who says he knows a guy who says that Obama will backdoor gun restrictions. At least when government leaks are reported to other news sources they do it having vetted the source to some degree. This story is a prime example why Fox News has stooped to the reliability of MSNBC.1 point

I just use a nylon brush and Ballistol. Baffles are generally soft aluminum, so I don't use metal brushes. Likewise, I don't use harsh solvents that might react with the aluminum. And I clean my suppressors when I notice the noise level increasing. For my Gemtech Outback .22 suppressor that seems to be after 3-4 thousand rounds. I think that I cleaned my .223 suppressor once about five years ago.1 point

I'd like to encourage everyone participating to really be creative. Obviously it doesn't matter what everyone receives, be thankful and glad in it. BUT, when it comes to our hobby, $25 is a pretty limited fund, but that's also the fun of it. The challenge. The whole idea of gift giving isn't about "Mine's bigger than yours" but it could be a fun challenge amongst us as friends to see who can do the best IN THE $25 limit. I mean, you could buy a Glock magazine or a brick of .22's....BORING!!! Give it some thought people. My brain's been working on it. I have a few ideas. THere's some seriously creative people here. I'm interested in seeing what some of ya'll come up with for $25.1 point
