  1. My wife gave birth to our first child "Brooklyn" yesterday morning. Our little girl came 3 weeks early via a c-section weighing 8lbs 4.9oz.

  2.   You're absolutely right.  You know what the trend is?   Screwed up people.  Mentally defective individuals who will use a knife, an ice pick, a baseball bat, a furry kitten or a ball of cotton to kill someone else if a gun is not handy.  In this case it was a former soldier suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder who had easy access to a firearm because of the philanthropic work that Chris Kyle was doing with such individuals.   It's a horrible shame but it doesn't appear that the government, a foreign interest or even space aliens had anything to do with this.

  6. I've always been a fan of the good ol Ruger 10/22 platform and I have owned many, all of which end up getting modified. I always dreamed of building a "accurate as it can be" target version, and a super light field version. Well... I emptied the coin jars in Coinstar the other day, claimed my Amazon money (almost 800 bucks!) and went shopping. The bits n pieces promptly arrived from Tony at Kidd Innovative Design, and here's what I ended up with. I already had some of the goodies, but I added the stock, barrel, bolt, charging handle. The Kidd two stage trigger was in my other lightweight field plinker, and I did a trigger job on that and moved it over to this one. What do you all think? The old bolt that I modified: A variety of springs for different velocities:

  7. Romantic ideas of the past generations withstanding, I wouldn't change a thing. There's plenty to dislike about where we are today but there's also a lot of things I think we take for granted. Plus, I like who and what I am. given that we are all in someways products of our environment I wouldn't change. No, if anything I'm more curios as to the future, I sure would like to be alive in 2076 for instance.

  8. Thank you!  All this tinfoil hat nonsense must mean that Noveske's car was actually run off the road by a secret agent sent by the Obama administration for this "trend" to take place.  I don't even know who the third person people are referring to would be.  Of course, they don't kill off someone like Wayne LaPierre, but some random notable person who happens to be a gun owner.   It's really very disconcerting to see so many people who automatically assume that everything that goes on is part of some vast government conspiracy.  There's simply no way we can stop the erosion of our rights when so many on our team are wasting time and energy on this silly conspiracy talk.  It's exactly this sort of rhetoric that helps fuel the arguments of the anti-gunners who use it to portray gun owners as a bunch of anti-government loons who are dangerous, and pushes the sheep who are riding the fence to the other side.  Chris Kyle was murdered, and it is tragic, but it's nothing more than that; a tragic murder.

  9. Without any 'real' facts in this case, I'll wait to find out what the real story is.  The Feds can charge you with anything they like as a pretext to confiscating your property.  If he was a legitimate collector, that collection could have a HUGE value.  If they find any charges that actually stick, then he will most likely lose the guns to asset forfeiture and the agencies will each get a nice chunk of money after the auction.   Asset forfeiture is just a form of legalized theft.

  10. Thanks guys! It was a fun ceremony with great friends and family. The wife rejected the idea of gettin hitched at the shooting match today ... but in general is supportive of the habit. I'm a lucky guy! Looking forward to a lifetime of fun times and good memories.

  16. Come on guys, not to single anyone out or call anyone out but lets get with the program. When we signed up for this Spots had a few easy to follow rules; have fun, take pictures, keep it only for a week. I fully understand that life can easily get in the way of little stuff like this but that's, well, life. Keep it a week and send it on. I'd love to see more pass arounds coming out from Spots but if we screw the pooch on this one, that's just not very likely. Lets do this right.

  26. Decided to put together a long range gun and this is what I came up with. Savage Model 10 FCP with McMillan stock, Weaver mounts and tactical rings, Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 (First Focal Plane) scope. Got it zeroed on sunday at 100 yards and it is shooting sub-moa out of the box. SWEET!!!

  27. I am getting tired of my RWS 34 .177 springer ( had it for 10 years but it shoots like new still ) and it's snapping recoil that causes loss of scope view during the point of impact and how it sounds like the crack of a .22 rifle ; with the scope and evil barrel weight on the end I know it won't be long before someone in my hood calls the authorities thinking I have a high powered rifle in my hands just because of the sound and scope ( at least when there are no leaves on the trees and hedges around here ).   Behold :   I stumbled upon the Benjamin Marauder yesterday and after reading reviews and watching multiple ( You Know Who Tube vids ) ; I searched for discount codes for a well known supplier and pulled the trigger on ordering one ( .22 ). I wonder how the silencing method is legal , is it because there are no baffles ? EDITED SEE LAST LINK The barrel is enclosed in a shroud that runs from the breech of the free floating barrel to about 3" past the end of the barrel. The resulting sound is super quiet ; the design is like that of a silencer but has been sold for years. Is this legal ( guess so )? The accuracy is unbelievable , this could definitely be a survival type rifle ( although be it not small ) as no one is going to hear you getting your dinner and as long as your seals hold up and you have your pump you are in good shape. Oh , and did I mention that ammo is plentiful ?   :2cents:   http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Benjamin_Marauder_Air_Rifle/1774   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4wMEqD2ZKU   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUEwxg32s6Y   Just found a video of baffles being removed  :yum:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flIxgQXC3r8&list=UUQCfD5ViGak4eNz4Us14oyA

  28. I don't disagree with your premise but we ("we" in the collective sense), have allowed the government at all levels to ignore the Constitution when it comes to the second amendment.  It's been going on for decades and all of us have some of that guilt on our hands.   Any attempt to suddenly revert to what the Constitution says we already have as a right will only bring pain and misery down on the person who does it.   The approach that will work is to keep pushing back against further infringement and to remove infringements that already exist and we do that in a variety of ways including supporting organizations like the NRA, USCCA, GOA, etc. and by being an ambassador to our friends and neighbors who either don't share our views or have no strong opinion on the matter at all.

  29. With this administration I have learned while watching this hand (The AWB), what is the other hand doing (Amnesty For Illegal Aliens). I don't think even mighty O thinks he can get the AWB past the house or at least I hope not. Seems to me while we are focused on the 2nd he is pushing for 11-20 million new democrat voters. Stay all over congress about the 2nd, but if you oppose amnesty watch the other hand. I feel like we are being played.

  36. There are always a bunch of cars that hit the auctions after large natural disasters, I used to work on a late model BMW that was in katrina, had all kinda of strange electrical issues. One day pulled the carpet out to trace wires and literally found a waterline on the sheetmetal behind the pedals. Replaced the entire body harness, and all the control modules under the waterline and it fixed nearly every problem. It also cost the customer over $6k in repairs. Be wary and check the insurance flood car database.

  40. I shared that on my FB,   Prefect example of criminals expecting an easy target and getting bit in the ass.   See Guns really do make crime dangerous for criminals.  When they don't know who is and isn't armed they have a higher chance of losing. Society benefits from an armed public.  Even is person B does not carry, they benefit from hurd immunity by the fact that criminals know their is a chance that person or that home might be protected by a gun.

  45. I'm going to make a prediction that he will take a plea deal so that the state can sweep this under the rug before it gets too much press and the guy will probably jump at the chance to take a misdemeanor and not risk becoming a felon. Seems to be the MO when an otherwise law abiding person gets rolled up for violating their silly laws which do ABSOLUTELY nothing to curb crime. If they spent half as much effort going after actual criminals as opposed to criminalizing law abiding citizens they might actually put more bad people in prison.

  46. Go rent a SIG and take the Glock with you.  Shoot them both and compare.  If you like the SIG, get one.  If you don't, then you will have satisfied that curiosity without dropping a lot of money.  You might also rent a third gun as a blind test.  There are LOTS of choices out there for comparison.  S&W, Walther, CZ, Springfield, and others all make competitors for that market.  How many folks will buy a car without a test drive?  So why buy a firearm without the same thing?
