I love how another country's government condemns us for using deadly force. Control your drug and weapons trafficking and help us lock down and patrol our borders, and we wouldn't need to use deadly force so often. Far as I'm concerned we don't use it enough. You wanna control the drug problem? Start shooting traffickers and smugglers on sight, along with dealers and user's. This meth, cocaine and heroin problem is killing this country, almost as bad as the budget, illegal immigrants, and gun control. I was called racist the other day for wanting to lock down the borders. I' m not a racist, I'm a firm believer in the fact that if you want to immigrate here, you should do so peaceably and legally, just as my ancestors did, and just as law abiding people have for the last 200 years. Fill out the forms, become a citizen, pay your taxes, and contribute to society as a whole. Instead they would rather sneak drugs in and government provided guns out, or sneak in, work for a few years, while being on welfare, free healthcare, and God knows what other government assistance, and then once they've milked it long enough, they head back across the border to where they have been shipping that money all along. Nothing but a parasite on the underbelly of this country. /end rant7 points

I can't tell how accurate it is without knowing how many rounds he fired, but 7 hits on a moving target ain't bad at all. I'd say he's plenty accurate.6 points

Armed citizens force officials to back down "A group of 160 citizens, many if not most of whom were armed, confronted government officials Tuesday who had attempted to have a wounded Army veteran kicked out of a meeting due to the fact that he carried a gun. The veteran has a state license for concealed carry, which means that he was carrying the gun to the meeting within the boundaries of the law." Sheep asks Caster: Is that a gun?!? Caster: uhh, yeah... Sheep: Why are you carrying a gun?!? Caster: It's against my religion to fight. Besides, Recoil is much easier to manage than blunt force trauma to my fists and or face. Sheep: ......blank stare Caster: ......sly grin...walks away casually, possibly whistling a Black Sabbath tune.4 points

If somone is worth shooting at, the back is as good as the front IMHO. Trying to gin up sympathy for a criminal due to the age or where the bullets landed does not wash with me. He attacked them, he got shot, cry moar.3 points

I may just be ignorant here, so LEOs feel free to correct me, but doesn't certain criteria have to be met in order to release a round in someone's direction? Seriously, one of the vehicles engaged had all the bulletholes in the rear, suggesting that the vehicle wasn't being used as a weapon, and the passenger was most likely not armed being that it wasn't the right person. I mean, they fired without even positively identifying the person. Is this amateur hour or what? Looks like a few more of LAPDs finest need to get a pink slip as well.3 points

That is OK. It was the "he killed one of ours and is therefore to be shot on sight" that is wrong. The LAPD is openly, without remorse and without shame, on a shoot to kill mission and that I have trouble with. There is a subtle difference between the two.2 points

Yeah, but regular folks get a by for being ignorant. Someone who is enforcing the law needs to know better. I would have corrected those officers if they said such a thing. I can only imagine they would disagree with me and be forced to take me to jail when I re chamber a round. I'm not sure what my recourse would be for being arrested for breaking a law that doesn't exist, but I'm not going to be dictated the law from someone who doesn't even know it.2 points

Yeah, folks always post something about "why would you do anything other than just hunker down?", without considering that some of us have children. There is no option there. If someone breaks into my home, where my children sleep, there is nothing in the world that will keep me from finding them and preventing them from getting anywhere near my kids. For this reason, my reaction is immediate. The flashlight and gun is in my hand and I'm out the door of the bedroom ready to shoot. We had a scare last year where the alarm went off in the middle of the night. I can tell you that I was able to clear a three story structure in less than 45 seconds, based on the timing of the alarm company calling. No shoes, no pants, no problem. There is only one concern I have and that is eliminating the threat as fast as possible and I only need a bang stick and a light to make that happen.2 points

If you have worked your way down to a knife fight something has gone terribly wrong. Having a bag around your body while in a fight is going to be a huge disadvantage. It allows the bad guy to have something to grab a hold of easily. I would have a flashlight, pistol or shotgun and cell phone in close proximity at all times. No need to over think it or over complicate it. You just want the bare minimum needed to defend yourself. If someone enters or attempts to enter my home I would grab my firearm, cell phone and flashlight. Then if I decide to actively find the bad guy I will move slowly move to the area of greatest observation with a light switch. I will try to avoid using any source of light as I move because I have the advantage while it is dark but when the area is lit up it evens the playing field. Then, once in position, I would use voice commands to warn the bad guy to leave. This should give me an idea of if they are friend or foe and if they are foe I would call 911. I will try to use the lightswitch to light up the area before using a flashlight. Then if the bad guy becomes a threat I would remove the threat. If you decide to stay put, which isn't bad either, then leave the lights off and use the flashlight to light up the bad guy if he enters the bed room. Distance is your ally. The more distance between you and the bad guy the better off you are. Dolomite2 points

Call it what you will, but an executive order by the Governor prohibiting travel is quite extreme. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2013/02/08/patrick-declares-state-of-emergency-announces-travel-ban-in-mass/ "If you don’t have an exemption and you’re caught on the road, the penalty could be as steep as a $500 fine or, at worst, a year in jail." I lived near Albany, NY as a kid. We could have 3 feet of snow and STILL had to go to school. No b.s. These people are acting like they've never even seen snow before. It's New England morons! It snows.1 point

So I finally got some cartridges loaded and had good weather to try them out. I'd like some opinions on why the loads may have performed they way they did and how you would load going forward. The cartridge: .308 Winchester with 168 gr HPBT Sierra MatchKing bullets. Winchester primers with Accurate 2495 powder. All loaded on a single stage Lee press and all brass was tumbled, sized and trimmed to spec. All bullets were seated to 2.800 COL. The rifle: Remington 700 SPS Tactical with a Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3X10 scope on a 20MOA base with TPS rings. Shot prone with a Harris bipod on the front. The results: I shot the ammo that I usually use first for a control. Hornady 168 gr Z-Max (go ahead and laugh but they're match grade). The Circle in the middle is 1 MOA at 100 yards which is the distance that I shot. All strings of fire were 5 shots. Next was my first set of reloads but at minimum power, 40.1gr Next was 41 gr. 42 gr. 43 gr 44 gr. 45 gr. And one more string of Z-Max while the gun was hot. So, there it is. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Loved the "science experiment" aspect of the whole thing. I believe I'm hooked.1 point

What you must understand is gun owners have nothing to gain in the never ending game of "compromise". We will lose every time. Giving up one thing for the sake of another is not good. Eventually you will have nothing. The way this country works now is just about anyone can make some kind of complaint and somebody else has to give something up to shut them up. That is not right.1 point

The target is at 20 yards , here are 10 more shots at the same target , wish I had a bench rest.... This is 10 in a coffee can at 35 yards..... Still working between 18.13 and 21.3 gram pellets and the string I get as the air goes down. One afternoon obviously is no test but so far I am getting 30 shots per charge ; going from 2800 to 3000 psi to around 2000 psi before re-charging. ( about 45 bicycle type pumps on the pump )1 point

One thing is for sure, this guy has been planning this for a while. He didn't write that manifesto in an hour, and he didn't just happen to know where to find that police officer's daughter. He's had time to think about it, which proves my point once again that no matter what laws you pass, you can't stop someone from doing something crazy. It can't be legislated. It has been around forever and will always be around. Crazy folks doing crazy stuff is here to stay. The only folks that can stop evil are the folks that encounter it.1 point

Why does Homeland Security need 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition? September 20, 2012 Lee DeCovnick The Department of Homeland Security has purchased 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition- that is not a typo -- during the last six months. This includes 450 million rounds of .40 hollow point, 200 million rounds of .223 rifle ammunition, and 176,000 rounds of .308 168-grain hollow point boat tail (HPBT) that is used almost exclusively as ammo for sniper rifles. From beforeitsnews.com we read: Why is everyone all up in arms about the recent purchase by Homeland security of 1.4 Billion rounds of ammunition? Our undeclared Foreign War in Iraq Consumes about 70,000,000 (70 Million) Rounds of Ammunition Each Year, which would take about 20 years to consume 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition ordered by the Department of Homeland Security alone, not including all the ammunition ordered by the weather service, Social Security, etc! 20 Years To Use All 1.4 Billion Rounds Of This Ammo? Is the Department of Homeland security to protect us from foreign terrorists, or to protect the central government from the American people? Read the entire chilling article. Avoid any political discussions about Obama's infamous 2008 quote, lest your blood pressure dangerously rise. We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. Let's put these DHS numbers in perspective. An Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer displaces (weighs) 9,300 tons. 1.4 billion rounds weigh around 28,000 tons, three destroyers' worth, so to speak. It takes over 1,200 18-wheel trucks to move that much ammunition. That's the equivalent to a line of single trailer trucks, parked end to end, almost 14 miles long. There are 314 million Americans, men, women and children living in the United States this morning. This year alone, DHS has purchased four rounds for each and every American. We don't know how much more ammo the DHS may have accumulated during the preceding 36 months of the Obama Administration. This enormous DHS stockpile supplements the ammunition already held by the US Armed Forces, the National Guard, hundreds of local and state police departments, plus other Federal law enforcement agencies such as the ATF, Secret Service, FBI, TSA and the US Marshals Service. Why did DHS purchase 28,000 tons of ammunition? Why did DHS purchase almost half a billion rounds of hollow point ammunition, banned by the Hague Convention of 1899 for use in international warfare, that is carefully designed to kill it intended targets? Americans have no good answers to these questions since the DHS is now refusing to respond to media inquires on the subject. Pull back the curtain of silence by asking your Congressmen and Senators these questions. These huge inventories are extremely troubling from the standpoint of a free society. DHS and other Federal governmental agencies will be much less inclined to ever use this ammunition as long as Americans citizens stand firm in supporting our Second Amendment rights to bear arms. We must never forget that tyrants throughout modern history (Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin and Mao) always disarmed their opponents before rounding them up and sending them to the killing fields. We must never forget. 48 days until Election Day. Read more: http://www.americant...l#ixzz27GFy47la1 point

I got this Win 63 a while back and had fiddled with it a bit, but hadn't shot it much. The other day I put a little 2-7 Rimfire Weaver on it and had a lot of fun shooting golf balls today. It isn't a pristine 63 having been D&T'd on top of receiver and barrel by some expert long ago and it has the 4 holes on the left side of the receiver with plug screws where it was D&T'd for a side mount. Crazy, a non grooved 63 D&T'd twice! Anyway, I am about function not about collecting or looks. First time I threw it up to my shoulder I snapped off a fast shot at a golf ball at 35 yards and the ball exploded! My 3 shooting partners shouted, "Do it again!" I calmly told them I only had to do it once, then laughed pretty hard too. I'm sure you all have had shots like that. Trouble is I had two today. I was function testing an AMT Lightning that I had put a new Volquartsen sear in and installed new Ruger adjustable rear and new front sights. First round out of the AMT spun the 2" spinner at 35 yrds with a fast snap shot. My 3 shooting partners raised their eyebrows at me. Lucky twice today.1 point

Maybe it is just my tinfoil getting a little too tight again, but these two incidents lend themselves to the idea that the LAPD has no intention of even attempting a live capture. They seem to be operating on a 'kill on sight' basis. Dorner is obviously violently psychotic, and a danger to the public, though it is focused on those who wear a badge. Maybe he actually possesses damaging information they are trying to ensure doesn't get out? This is the LAPD after all, probably the only LE organization that rivals NYC in corruption.1 point

Bullet holes in the windshield right at the driver, and especially the ones in the back of the truck... I hope those cops get fired and put in jail, and the police department goes bankrupt from lawsuits. I'm all for supporting the police in almost every manner, but bullet holes in the back of a truck? He obviously wasn't trying to get out or run them over.. And hope they get exactly what a civilian would get if they were randomly shooting people that posed no threat.1 point

I don't consent to anything more than I am legally and morally obligated to. I have great respect for local law enforcement and will assist them if I have knowledge that will help them solve a real crime. I will not assist an officer in a fishing expedition. The officer can either have PC that he can defend in front of a judge (because he will have to) or he can fuck off and go do his job and let me get on with my day.1 point

Got the Browning Leverage yesterday, my first "modern" air gun. Tried it out inside, at five yards, cheap light weight pointed pellets go half way through 500 page yellow page book and actually pokes concussion hole all the way through. Most impressive for subsonic, didn't know exactly what to expect. Pert wicked expanded hole through tin cans too. Not overly loud, surely fine in one's backyard without generating neighbor complaints. Live in apt complex so can't really test it outside yet, I'll take it to range and down to Mom's next visit and really give it a workout. Looks like a lot of fun coming up for 162 clams. And cheap available ammo. - OS1 point
