Two sections of this article really get my blood boiling.   EXCUSE ME!?!?!? Those weren't incidents of "anti-government violence". Those were massacres where the government murdered our fellow citizens.    That's actually pretty easy to accomplish. Don't send your black clad stormtroopers to murder people and we won't be forced to shoot back in self defense.   Fuck the author of this article and fuck the SPLC and their hate mongering way of painting the people who don't march in lockstep to their views as "dangerous extremists". Fucking tools.

  My theroy is the theory of all of it.  Meaning, its a sum of a variety of issues.   long time but casual shooters who never stockpiled ammo suddenly have realized the sense in doing so. + prepping has become mainstream. + jerks are buying ammo by the case to make a quick buck on ebay. + new gun owners are buying ammo for their new guns + opressive govt has long time preppers and shooters buying too ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ no ammo

lots of places sell them by the 100.  once the box of 1000 is opened there are 10 individual boxes of 100, right?  I understand your frustrations but there are two ways to deal with panic buying and limited supply.  one is to raise the price and the other is to limit demand on the supply.  I would much rather have limits over higher prices.

Best way to deal with gougers is to refuse to pay their prices. Last gunshow I went to, I'm pretty sure I pissed off a few vendors. Now, typically I'm not a confrontationalist and I made it a point to not SAY a word but when flipping over price tags I can't stifle a good laugh and I'm not going to try. If you wanna sell a base model AR for $1500 go for it, it's a free country. I'm also free to laugh at you for it. If they wanna buy up the market and sit on it. Let them. When they get hung with a load of goods, that'll be the best pay back ever.

I do think getting word out that hard to find items can be found at reasonable pricing does much good. I believe the opportunists are not surfing TGO for leads. I think they already have their leads with buddies, friends and paid people who let them know when Walmart, Academy and others receive shipments in. Those items disappear way to fast just for the common man to be passing by at the same time when guns/ammo are placed or just recently placed in the case. The market is saturated until the next wave of real legislation passes.

  That reminds me.  I need to get a tennis racket for them little drones.

Totally ripping off Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe) but......a man can spend his whole life collecting guns, looking for the perfect collection, and it would not be a wasted life. In the end though, you will find........they are all perfect.

I think letting the slide slam home is just bad gun etiquette. Imagine if you were showing someone your new car and after checking out the interior, they grabbed the door and slammed it shut really hard. That would kinda irritate me. Doubt it would hurt it much, but I don't want it done over and over either.    Dolomite touched on much of what I would say about the 1911. The only thing I would add is that the barrel hood is what pushes the barrel forward and up into battery, so without the round, the hood slams against the breach face really hard. Not good. Also, the the forward movement of the slide is stopped by the barrel feet making contact with the slide stop. Again something I don't want slammed together over and over. Then you have the trigger stuff that Dolomite talked about. One needs to remember that with top parts and labor, one can get a good deal of money in a 2 pound trigger that is really sweet. I walk the slide home on every gun I touch even the plastic ones. Particularly if they don't belong to me.   $.02

I say not do it in a gun shop because it is not your pistol and is considered by most folks as simply bad manners.  Apparently several 1911 manuals mention it and from what I read Springfield and Nighthawk specifically.  I have over 900 firearm operator's manuals but am not gonna look. But because the OP's question has been raised so many times on so many forums I did a review.  Seems to be primarily a 1911 style firearm issue.  Then as a previous poster said, you wear the slide lock if nothing else, unless you are slingshotting the slide.  I would also think there might be an issue with wear marks on the barrel and barrel hood.  Most folks like to put those marks on a gun they buy new themselves.    This is what HIlton Yam says:    http://www.10-8performance.com/pages/1911-User's-Guide.html Weapon handling protocol: Always ease the slide down on an empty chamber, never slam it shut from slide lock. A G.I. rack grade 1911 may do fine when you slam the slide on the empty chamber, but a gun with a tuned trigger and fitted barrel will do better without it. The jarring of the slide slamming down on an empty chamber can cause the hammer to follow and the sear nose to crash into the hammer hooks. Your trigger job will last longer if you ease the slide down. Further, the lower lugs on a match fit barrel take a lot of impact when they contact the slide stop, and without the buffering effect of the round feeding into the chamber, you increase wear on your barrel by slamming the slide on an empty chamber. It's not the end of the world if the slide drops on an empty chamber, but it's not a good habit to develop either. It is the sign of an amateur 1911 handler.

I don't think people are hoarding ammo, like I thought, I think people are buying ammo for the guns they are purchasing.    At some point the powers that be must realize that we are a substantial force. And rather than alienate us they might try catering to us if they want to remain in power.   Look at that number, 42% of all background checks were done since Obama took office. Since becoming president over 20% of the US population has bought a gun. The Monday following Newtown almost 1 million backgrounds were completed in a single day. Can we put a moratorium on defining the term "price gouging" or at least just agree that "price gouging" and "free market" are interchangeable terms until this current round of douchebaggery is over.

Just left mo LGS (the only place in town to buy primers) he has primers by the 100 to make sure someone else can get something. I left the primers there because someone else "needs" them worse than I do.

I think Oh Shoot was saying that the employers can access the information through the Commercial Appeal's web site, that they do not need to go to TDOS for information, therefore there is no way you can track to see if they are looking up the information.

THIS time I watched the entire video and understand the context behind Sen. Harvey's remarks.   Sen Hudak is very typical of the liberal who "cares about people". Couldn't you hear the "caring" tone in her voice? She is such a "caring" person that she thought it appropriate to lecture a rape victim about how a gun is not the answer.   How can you get any more compassionate than that?  :screwy:

As long as they're keeping their prices pre- Bravo Sierra I wouldn't have a major issue with it. I do appreciate your frustration. I prefer to purchase my primers in 5000 lots.   The only way I can look at it is that it keeps the "re-sellers" from gouging. I know the best way to stop the gouging is to stop buying from those folks...I don't buy from them...but there's a lot of folks genuinely in need.   That's one of the things I appreciate most about TGO, the majority of members are looking out for each other.     edit: spelling ;)

You have to look at it in the full context of what he was saying. He was being sarcastic and basically saying "the whole purpose of this crap is to make liberals feel warm and fuzzy even if that costs you the ability to defend yourself". That's why he said he was sorry to her.

I've no gripe about limits either.It does seem that 1000 would be a much more logical number than 500 for primers, however.

Think about the mechanics.  Everytime an actual round is stripped off the mag it slows the slide a bit and it slows again as it hits the feed ramp and then goes into battery.  You don't have that sharp metal to metal beating you do when you just let it go on an empty chamber.  Use some snap caps and listen to the movement, you'll hear it.  How much wear does it cause, probably little, but just as in the action of firing a round, every movement of the action is one closer to the end of spring life and wear on the interface of the chamber and the slide.   What's even worse?  Letting it go by pushing down on the slide lock.  The slide lock is NOT designed to be released in that manner.  The friction wears the slide lock down.  Seen many fairly new pistols have to get serviced when they won't hold back the slide anylonger. You should pull back a bit on the slide while pushing down on the slide lock on an empty chamber.  Just pull her back and let fly with a round (or snap cap) in the mag.

   Not trying to tell you what to do. It's your gun and choice. But..take into account some of the comments here about the long memory of these guys in relation to percieved "gouging."    Just sayin'.

Nickel Boron is far too high class to shoot that crappy steel case ammo.

I had a Lone Wolf barrel for a Glock 22 I owned.  I was impressed by the fit and finish.  It functioned fine and accuracy was excellent.  I plan to pick one up for my G17 eventually so I can shoot lead with it.

yeaaahhhh....I can see that sliver of glass in the palm of my hand and a shoe full of port.
