Boys, not that y'all ain't been doing it already but everyone needs to be studying. Learning every skill you can do with your hands. Everyone needs to be finding EVERY WAY POSSIBLE to get off the grid as much as possible. Now don't flame me for advocating something illegal, it's just the times we live in, you should be finding ways to hide what is yours. How you do it is up to you. Look in the mirror when you take a shower this evening. Look yourself in the eye when there's no one else around and you cannot lie to yourself. .....Can you really take care of you and yours? How dependent are you on others? If you haven't had a soul searchin' over this, now is the time.3 points

NRA accurately nailed his portrayal of the witness's speech & demeanor, maybe you had not read any of her twitter tweets, but some of us knew what to expect when she took the stand. Purposely butchering the english language is not an "accent" or even "accidental" in case you haven't been paying attention the last 30 some-odd years in certain demographic subcultures in this country the speaking of proper english is what is refered to as "acting/talking white". That is a serious social faux-pas in some circles, but it is the most prominently enforced/embraced in the ghetto community, which discourges it's young people from "acting/talking white" limiting their potential future career choices. As Links wrongly asserted this is how "black people speak" which is not entirely true as not all/only black people speak this way, nor is ghetto-speak limited to only blacks, as there are plenty of hispanics, asians, cacausions, etc have adopted the whole ghetto life-style & mentality, along with that speach. Regonal/national/cultural accents are one thing, this purposely manufactured & voluntarily practiced ghetto-speak is another & IMHO anyone engaging in &/or encouraging it says a lot about the content of that person's character & absolutely nothing about the color of their skin.3 points

Ignoring all that internet chatter, I think the threat to him is very real. The people that will go after him aren’t posting on twitter and I doubt they are the type to challenge him to gun fight. The New Black Panthers openly put a bounty on him dead or alive and the justice department stood by silently; that says a lot. There are people waiting for a reason to riot; they don’t care about Martin or Zimmerman. Either way the verdict goes; they will use it as a reason to destroy property and steal stuff.2 points

I agree with most of this. One of the big lessons learned for all of us is don't drop your situational awareness in the moments AFTER an incident occurs. In other news, one overlooked tidbit in the testimony this morning is devastating to the TM team. Jeantel said TM was calling her from behind the father's girlfriend's house. That house was at the south end of the neighborhood. Yet the altercation as seen by witnesses and confirmed by the location of the body was 120 yards north, only a few yards away from where GZ had parked his truck. If Jeantel's testimony was truthful, for some reason TM went from the safety of the house 120 yards back towards Zimmerman. Either the state's #1 witness is lying or Martin went back towards Zimmerman's truck.2 points

West the defense attorney is crazy like a fox. His long pauses, his gentle demeanor, his persistent questioning, allows "Dee-Dee" to exhibit her attitude, prejudice and ignorance in all its unfettered, horrible glory. There was a video shot yesterday of her that went well beyond rolling her eyes; she made a hideous face at West behind his back, just short of sticking her tongue out on him, on full view for the jury. The longer she stays on the witness stand, the more she helps the defense. If I were the defense team, I'd bring her back for a third day, just to watch her go ballistic and to sink the prosecution. She is a train-wreck, a squirming, snarky, ignorant, sarcastic, hate-filled train wreck. IMO.2 points

Honestly I haven't had the time to watch any of the testimony in full from any witness. It sucks because I'd like to but I've been way too busy. During coffee this morning I got ahold of her two hour testimony and skipped to the significant parts to include her getting irritable at the end with the judge and defense attorney. It was disrespectful, but I also don't know how much we should expect from a 19 year old after being on the stand for two hours; any 19 year old. I wouldn't classify her as a 100% reliable witness due to her age and relationship to the deceased, but like with most court cases it isn't any one piece of evidence, it is the totality of evidence. If her testimony can be backed up by other evidence it increases the credibility of the testimony, and has the exact opposite effect if the testimony can be clearly refuted with evidence.2 points

And shouldn't people like you realize that people have their own opinions that may differ from yours? I have asked several folks on here to give me the link to the "real" 911 call or at least the version they liked and no one has done so. So one says "search GOOGLE"...lmao. OK I did...now give me a link to the "version" of the 911 call you would like my to accept as gospel! I'm getting the real impression that folks with differnent opinions, opinions that don't fall in line with the "cliques" aren't much welcome here. With that being said.... Dave No matter how much our opinions differ, I would never hold that against you or anyone else. However, come on here and spread debunked rumours about Zimmerman calling Martin a "coon", that takes it to a whole new level. CNN was pretty much the first people to bring up the alleged "coon" comment. After their own audio experts further examined the audio, CNN retracted their original statements. Not even the prosecution believes Zimmerman called Martin a "coon", so that should be enough to keep you from continually spreading that BS. If you want to discuss your opinion about those who use racial slurs, I'm all for it. Martin's "girlfriend" has given us that very opportunity, with her testimony of Martin being the one who used racial slurs.2 points

My only problem with Zman is he should have stayed in his truck and stayed on the phone with police. Let the police find and question him. That's their job! His was to "observe and report" and that's all. I bet old Zman wishes the same right now too. This is one of the most screwed up court cases since OJ! This girl friend of TM's is this trials "Cato Katlin" from the OJ days! I really want to sit back and laugh..... Dave The case couldn't be much more straight forward. If people like you would stop using the interwebz to spread myths and debunked rumours, the case would appear much less screwed up.2 points

Guy number 1 did get out of his car first. Guy number 2 should have just drove off but because he didn't, for whatever reason, he is not the one in the wrong. The guy who got out first and was aggressive is the one who is. If some bat crap crazy guy gets out of his car and is coming towards me off I will try to drive off. If I can't then I have to prevent him from harming me and the best way to end a fight is with overwhelming amount of force. That is what this sounds like, guy 1 was being aggressive towards guy 2 and guy 2 put an end to it very quickly.2 points

This video is a powerful endorsement of "...you need to have a weapon handy and in reach at all times...". We can quibble about the idea that "...there are kids in the house, i dont like guns, ya might shoot a neighbor, ya might shoot someone you love, nobody should own guns (...the NJ standard...), dont resist and he wont hurt you (...real funny one...), on and on.... ya get the point...). The fact is, as others have opined that this can and does happen everywhere and it aint an "across the track, poor neighborhood" issue at all; its everywhere ubiquidous. Since it is "everywhere ubquidous"; you better decide what you need to do beforehand. I'ts a wonder that the poor woman in this video wasn't beat to death, or worse. Thank God she wasnt killed. Notice the police werent there; not because they didnt want to be (...which we can quibble a bit about too; especially in NJ...). The fact is that the police cannot be everywhere. I'm a 66 year old gimp with a 65 year old wife. We couldn't survive a beating like this thug passed out. My solution is simple... If you kick the door in at my house and make it across the threshold and you aint wearing swat gear and hollering "...officers..."; im gonna try to "...stop the threat with great finality...". I may get whooped and gut stomped, but it will be after the shootin, stabbin, and fightin is over. The same goes for the truck, jeep, and anywhere else im wonderin around. I'm never not armed, and ive decided what to do should that awful day come. I recommend that you and your loved ones do the same. From the bunker on the hillside. leroy, armed citizen2 points

Even though I am a Christian I don't care if a gay couple gets married, I don't approve of it but it is not my marriage. What I would like to know however is are they going to provide protection to churches so they can not be sued when they refuse to marry same sex couples. Just because the government says it is o.k. it is still against are beliefs and should not be forced on us. Karl2 points

I was not surprised. When it comes to the federal government, showing favortism (actually "punnishing" same-sex couples which is what DOMA was really about) is simply not going to pass Constitutional muster. I think Scalia (sp?) is a very strict Constitutionalist and I think that is precisely why he came down the way he did on this issue. Now...if we can just get the federal governmetn completely out of the marriage business we will have accomplished something.2 points

I've started taking a serious look at 38 Special and 357 handloads over the last year. So far, my favorite 38 Special load is 158 swc with a higher end dose of Bullseye. Smoky, but accurate and easy on the gun, just a tiny bit of leading. I tried Power Pistol with the same bullet and my barrel was completely smeared with lead after a handful of shots. For 357 mag, I'm starting to really like the same 158 gr swc with the minimum level of AA9 and a magnum primer. I am not convinced I really need a magnum primer with this, but I accidentally bought a box of 1,000 magnum primers, and I saw on AA's reloading site that magnum primers should be used, so I'm doing it. Nice load, powerful enough for recoil practice, good & loud, absolutely zero leading.1 point

Here is the scenario you pose: A group of anti-gun protesters traveling the country to push for gun-control legislation likely using the argument that gun owners are gun-obessed, irresponsible, and potentially dangerous. You propose, in response, that a bunch of gun owners should show up with open-carrying to make a political point. Who are you trying to persuade with your action? Clearly, the anti-gun group are not going to be convinced. Rather, they would use the display as evidence that gun-owners are crazy and can't even let people peaceably assemble without showing up armed to intimidate them (kind of like the Black Panthers at the polling place). It would follow that the only reason someone would choose to use a gun to intimidate someone is if they would actually use the firearm, thus reinforcing their point further. The media, generally ignorant about lawful gun ownership, would be more than happy to "report" this armed protest and the talking heads would spin it up as proof that gun owners are out-of-control. Gun owners don't need to be convinced that gun ownership and carry is safe, so your actions would not do anything with that group either. So really the group that all gun owners should actually be concerned with are the biggest group in American politics, the "mushy middle" that is minimally informed on issues, has little interest in becoming informed, and easily falls prey to media hype and spin. I think it is very safe to presume that most Americans are not especially informed about gun ownership and are not comfortable with people openly carrying firearms (right or wrong, that is reality). To back up my point, during my police career, I had multiple people challenge the lawfulness and wisdom of police officers carry firearms off-duty, so I am confident that they would have an issue with private citizens doing it. So to prove how prudent and safe gun owners are, you are suggesting that a bunch of armed people show up at a protest of unarmed individuals. The story the media story that will result (the one mentioned above) will easier for them to comprehend and digest than your argument since they are already socialized to believe that guns are dangerous and armed citizens are also dangerous and we can't have people walking around openly toting guns like it's the Old West. This is the point I make over and over again, and not just with gun owners. Protests that are not specifically tailored to the group you need to convince are not helpful and are likely to alienate the people we need to win over. If you want to do an open carry rally, fine, but there is a right time and place for that and it can't be like the one that just happened in Pennsylvania where they openly violated the law to make their point and then verbally assaulted the police who showed up to investigate the crimes.1 point

I am not talking about shooting bored teenagers over some spraypaint, etc. Also, as I said, I will comply with the law and would not use potentially deadly force in defense of property, only in defense of my life. However, I would have no moral qualms in supporting a change in TN law. As far as some scumbag who would steal family heirlooms being 'replaceable', yes - there are hundreds more where they came from. In fact, there is a regrettable surplus. Honestly, I wish there weren't so many 'replacements'.1 point

Normally I would pick a 45 over a 9mm for woods duty but this is a tuff one. Understand in the woods an aggressive animal will be very determined to get you and there is no where to run. On the street a turd may retreat after the first shot and you will be fleeing in your car in less than 2 minutes. People unlike animals realize they have been shot and suffer psychological effects and they try to nurse their wound or lay down. An animal has no clue what the hell happened that is why they run half a mile after getting hit with a hi powered rifle. With the XDS 6 or even 8 rounds seems uncomfortable to me asumming you can't get a magazine change in. Another thing, can you empty the Glock (18rds or 16) faster than the XDS?1 point
