It affected me. I've had to endure copious amounts of pointless bitchin'. It's the only thing 99.7 super talk radio talks about. It's just like wheni was a kid and the president was on. Is on every channel! I'm to the point where I really don't care if the power company goes out there and pulls the meter at the White House and the bank ( of china no less!!!) puts a lock on the door. Screw em. Weak animals make meals for the strong. I'll be glad when we as a people stop sheltering this thing and put it down so we can restart/rebuild and get back to some semblance of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There will never be happiness with the current regime who take STEAL from me because I decided I need to work for what's mine and give it to some lazy ghetto trash cuz somebudy gots to pay to raise my babies! I got a match, who's got some gas?4 points

Devils advocate - the buyer also has an obligation to know what they are buying. If he takes back the gun he has to sell it "used" at a loss even after it is fixed by Ruger .since it left on a 4473. If you keep it and send it back or he sends it back and they fix it no one is out money. Only the frustration and wait for the return. It unfortunately is the only scenario close to a win-win. That being said the box should have been opened and the gun inspected prior to selling as a good business practice. I have seen more guns than I would have thought possible damaged or in need of repairs immediately after opening the box. If he had inspected it like he was supposed to, then problem would have been averted. It you or your wife had inspected it prior to buying it, problem would have been averted.4 points

Woods has been busy tweeting about the slimdown and the President, focusing in particular on the fact that veterans have been unable to visit war memorials in Washington D.C. “This President is a true abomination. To have barricaded the WW2 vets, but allow illegal aliens privilege...†Woods tweeted on Oct. 8. But Woods, 66, was just warming up. The actor also called Obama “just vile. A small, small man.†http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2013/10/10/james-woods-criticizes-obama-says-doesnt-expect-to-find-work-in-hollywood-again/?intcmp=features More and more are turning on him.3 points

I enjoy it because ...well...I'm an azzhole. Telemarketers use a head set, not a hand set. I talk as quietly into receiver as possible all the while sounding interested. I have an air horn from a fire engine and my compressor puts out just over 150psi here at work. Get them interested but talk quietly. They will turn up,their headset so they can hear me......then, well you're smart, you know what happens next.3 points

Eh, I've been in a few scuffles during the post game handshake. Folks that take stuff personally use that as an opportunity to run their mouth. Had one who shoved me as my hand was extended; can't fault a guy for taking the bait on that one. Post game scuffles are as important as post game handshakes. Let boys be boys.3 points

During the next 24 to 48 hours, yours truly will be afoot or afloat inside a national park boundary, engaged in sporting activity including fishing and/or hunting, lawfully armed, and with everything else I need except a backcountry permit. Of course I've hunted, fished, canoed, hiked and camped in these parts long before the NPS had any interest in the place. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanx, Scott Bow aka ttocswob (NSA there's your code - you can stop now) (edit title to distinguish from movie tv show I didn't see and game I didn't play.)2 points

Well we are in Baton Rouge visiting some family so I decide to check out Red Jacket, I must say that these are some of the friendliest people that I have ever ran into. They were in the middle of filming, so we stayed out in front of the shop and met Will's daughter Stephanie and got a picture with Joe who is a really cool guy, so here is my ugly mug with my daughter with Joe who graciously posed for a picture with us.2 points

Like I said I jest don't get it all land far as parks are owned BY WE THE PEOPLE we paid for it with all OUR tax money , so if I want to go camping on property that my tax dollars paid for it I don't feel that I need gov to tell me that I can't use it . Who made them god of the land that we paid for . I don't have to have some one to hold my hand and watch out for me , I have the means to protect myself if need be . It's our right as the people not the gov-. To use these lands if we so desire. So why can't we use them ???? Oh and we have park rangers working to keep us out , but thay can't work other wise really . , what's y'all s take on this , am I missing something here.2 points

^^That is awesome, a hunter's first deer is a forever forged memory! I actually get excited for my friends when they kill a deer, not just my own harvest. Some people think we walk out in the woods at 9:30 while eating a sausage biscuit and playing Candy Crush, and the deer just walk out in a field and pose for us, and we use those big ole evil rifles and blow those poor little things away. They have no idea the time involved, the days not seeing anything (hot and cold days just sitting), or the respect and love we have for the animals. I know there are some idiots out there that make us all look bad, but for the most part, hunters/outdoorsmen are a nature loving group. A lot of good info in the above posts guys.2 points

I do agree with a lot of what you say. I kill spikes when they appear to be older deer, not the very young ones. I should have made that clear. Since I too am a "meat hunter" and don't care nothing about hanging any more heads on my wall, any and all deer suit me just fine. Just to let you know, that doe in the above picture was taken after two twin 4 pointers were passed up on. Not to bust anyone's bubble, but deer hunting is about more than "rack size". Big rack 4 and 5 year old mature bucks are great to kill. Most people however kill them just for that reason. Then they throw them in the beds of their trucks and drive all over town to show their buddies. By the time they make it the Taxidermist it's in bad shape and even fewer make it to the freezer. To each his own. I however, ignore rack size, and judge my deer based on Tender Loins, Hams, Chops and Burger. I will not shoot a button buck or doe that appears to be under 60 pounds. I do however applaud those that do, because there are way too many of them. And yes, I did at one time "Trophy Hunt". Been there, done that", and have nice things to show for it. It's about the meat now. Each person that purchases a hunting license has to make no one else happy but themselves. As long as they abide by the law, let them kill what they want. You nor I can change it. Take public land for example; let a little 6 pointer walk away and he'll be dead within 300 yards! May as well go on and get him yourself. Private land? I don't have that problem. My problem is people sneaking in killing my mature bucks. I have no issues with hunters taking young deer if that makes them happy and it feeds them. We talked to a guy the other day that was plumb tickled to death because he killed his first deer. The little buck had spikes about an inch long and weighed about 60 pounds. To him, it might as well have been a 10 pointer! First thing he said? "Man is that going to taste good"! With the economy as bad as it is, more and more people out of work, we all can expect fewer bucks making it to adulthood. It's just a fact we have to live with. Happy Hunting! DaveS2 points

Like Thomas Jefferson once said. " Any Government that is big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take it all away." I think Obama has stooped to and all time low with this last deal about not paying the families of the Soldiers killed in the war this past week and the Fisher Group Charity stepped up and paid it and made sure the families were flown to Dover to meet the planes bringing their loved ones home. Obama told Mr Fisher that the Government would give him an IOU and when the Government opened back up he would refund them their money back. That was the last straw and a new poll showed Obama rating at 37% and Fox News expects it to fall even lower. His blame it on the Republicans has back fired on him and Reid and I'm thrilled. I hope he goes into the negative column and into the dirt cellar........  :rant:2 points

this whole Gov "shutdown" crap is really pi$$ing me off, so I went into work this morning feeling the need to rant. The first three people i talk to are 1) a hard core liberal Obama lover 2) a liberal that doesn't believe anything negative about the Government. No matter if it is the headline in the paper he needs to see more proof, and 3) a conservative that only knows what the Preacher tells him. I made a remark about the "shutdown" and they all three looked at me like what are you talking about. I swear they had no clue. They don't do news because they don't want to get upset. God help us all. These people vote.2 points

I am at the point I don't want to shoot any deer. All that time spent sitting in the woods, dragging the deer, gutting, processing, cooking. I am too lazy for all that. It is way easier to go to Publix. But, I keep hunting. I don't want to let you guys down. I'm gonna drag my butt out there tomorrow just so you guys are happy. I'll even shoot a big fat old buck if he walks by, just to satisfy you guys. You see what a big heart I have? I don't like to shoot young bucks. I'll shoot any old deer. Good horns or not. I feel the challenge is in hunting the seasoned deer. However, I a not all high and mighty. I'll pop a doe in a heart beat if the situation lends itself to an easy extraction. I ain't gonna shoot a doe a mile from the truck on purpose. Y'all will just have to deal with it. :)1 point

I dealt with them for years before the show and they were always extremely nice and helpful. The folks who say they are jerks are usually second hand tv watchers. I dont care what a person shoots. If a spike makes you happy than by all means shoot it, same goes for a 10 pointer. If a person wants to manage a herd than go right ahead. I know I will shoot anything I want. I killed a small 7 pointer last year and a guy told me i should have let it walk. I asked him why and he said I should only shoot big bucks. I laughed and went on my merry way. I say do whatever makes you happy not what other people think or do.1 point

The dealer might have a legal obligation to give you a refund since he sold the gun at a location other than his place of business; but it’s been more than three days so that probably doesn’t apply. I wouldn’t mess with the dealer unless your wife wants a refund. If she wants to keep the gun I would send it to Ruger myself. That way you will be in communication with them and can even give written instructions on the problems. Just reread your post, since the dealer is sending it in I would contact Ruger and talk with them so you don’t have any surprises when it returns and they will get the straight story on what you want.1 point

I'm sure we could arrange that. :P Reckon I won't bother to list what I carry. Partly because I don't wanna' get laughed at and partly because most of what I carry is rattling around inside my brain pan. Suffice it to say that I keep things exceedingly simple and most of my "medicines" grow wild. As a general rule, I don't even carry bandaids, although I've found a tube of superglue to be a handy thing to have. And Tylenol sucks. Acetasalicylic acid (aspirin) is readily found in willow bark and willow bark tea does the job just as good as aspirin does without having to carry an extra container around (granted, it's a little less "handy" than aspirin, but willows grow on creek banks a lot more readily than do Walgreens). You fellers with the big modern bags and the knowledge to use them impress the hell out of me and I'm glad you do what you do and I hope you keep it up. For me, I guess knowing what part of a cattail to find an anesthetic in, or that spiderwebs make a good coagulant and other silly, outdated, "frontier" type stuff is about all I'm good for.1 point

# 3 is the one that bugs me most. If an owner wants to post their business, its their business and I'll take my business elsewhere. But what gets me are the business owners who only want to make a political statement and do their upmost to Hide the posting and/or place it in a location that is near impossible to see. Its an attempt to trap permit holders IMHO. Their activism to promote, impede, or limit the liberty of others should carry no force of law other than the possible charge of trespassing after and only after being asked to leave. AND THE DANG POSTING NEEDS TO GO BACK TO THE FULL SIZE STATED TCA AS BEFORE! The signage needs to be in a font that can be read and in a location that is On The Entry Door! That way everyone knows that the business is a "Criminal-Right-To-Work & Deranged Killer Zone."1 point

Gosh, you make me feel old...heh,heh. I started squirrel hunting at age 10, that be 1965, and we were still buying paper shells. Seems plastic came on in the late sixties, by the time I was a teenager and started duck hunting. The hoopla over plastic hulls by then was that they wouldn't swell if they got wet, like paper. Funny thing is, I can't ever remember having a paper shell wet enough that it wouldn't feed my shotgun. They had a waxy coating so they were pretty durable really. Enfield, I still have probably 30 or 40 paper shells left. I can't find any market worth to them, I even tried on TGO once with no takers, though free would probably work. :pleased: But once in awhile, especially if I'm squirrel hunting, I'll slip a few in my pocket if I'm using my single shot or double barrel... just to add some nostalgia to the hunt. I have had a couple not go off, but then they are close to 50 years old I imagine. If I were you, I'd shoot them...they're kind of fun to watch the old paper wads come blowing out too...like confetti!1 point

The feds cannot unilaterally establish martial law... the governor of the state has to request federal troops in the rare event that the state government becomes unable to do it's job... I doubt that martial law will ever be declared anywhere but in a blue state with the current regime in power.... leroy1 point

Hey, all. A few days ago, I shot a question off to my district's representative, Mr. Scott DesJarlais... I couldn't find out a whole lot about his stance on that glorious old Second Amendment, so I took a chance and emailed him. The response I got seems (and knowing politicians, surely is) rather canned/standardized, but it's still pleasing to me, overall. His response: "Dear Patrick, Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding potential gun control legislation. I truly appreciate having the benefit of your views on this important issue. It is hard to imagine anything more horrifying than the tragic shooting that occurred this past December at Sandy Hook Elementary School. As a parent with three school age children of my own, I join many other concerned parents in recognizing the need to create a safer learning environment in our schools. I believe that it is of the utmost importance for us to enact sensible measures to protect our children. However, I agree with a majority of Tennesseans in expressing my concern that the Obama administration and Senate Democrats are using this catastrophic event as a way to limit our Second Amendment rights. An outright ban on certain types of firearms, as well as the implementation of universal background checks, does little to deter criminals who currently obtain firearms illegally. Instead of creating new overreaching federal statutes, the federal government needs to enforce the gun laws that already exist. Likewise, I simply cannot support any measure that infringes on our constitutional right to bear arms. I truly believe that after the Sandy Hook tragedy, Americans deserve a comprehensive and effective strategy to protect their families from such senseless acts. Unfortunately, the President has chosen to advance a political agenda that in the end will have little impact on stemming gun violence while further eroding the rights of law-abiding citizens. The Second Amendment makes plain to criminals that their targets have the right to defend themselves, their families, and their property. If criminals already do not follow the law, gun-control legislation will only hinder the safety of law-abiding citizens. As a proud supporter of our Second Amendment, I intend to oppose any legislative effort to infringe upon our constitutionally guaranteed rights defined in the Second Amendment. It is an honor and a privilege representing you and all of Tennessee's Fourth Congressional District. Please let me know if you have additional comments or question on this or any other legislative matter. Sincerely, Scott DesJarlais Member of Congress"1 point
