1. As of 8:00 PM this evening, I just completed my 11th day of being tobacco free.  It is all downhill at this point.   I gave up a 14 year smoking habit 11 years ago only to switch to a can to 1.5 cans per day of smokeless tobacco.  While I was going through some flu-like symptoms at the end of Feb, I told myself that there would be no better time to quit since I already felt like s***.  I finished my last dip on Feb 28 at 8:00 PM and haven't looked back since.

 2. The Washington Post The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen , Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable. * * * * * * * * * I apologize, I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922, as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post - 90+ years ago.

 4. The holster plays a part in it too, like the time a TGO friend scorched his britches, and damn near butt-shot himself with his M&P. If y'all don't remember, he forgot to remove his finger from the trigger, and shoved the gun into his holster. The part of the holster that covers the trigger was the final component that caused the discharge, and the scorched hole on his britches.   If something is inside the trigger guard when you holster the weapon, it could go bang. The best way to avoid it is to pay attention.

 5. I have a feeling that for every "I won't buy from Bud's" post in this thread they will have twenty in store customers that hadn't bought from them in the past.   Bud's won't be hurting. They may do a lot of internet business. But every time I have been in their store it is packed. I have a feeling that the brick and mortar side of the business does really well too.   I also find it hilarious for the amount of chest thumping American Pride we have here that folks are so loathe to pay taxes, yet I am certain you spew venom out the other side of your mouth about lazy welfare recipients who don't pay taxes.

 7. So I wasn't the only one thinking this. I thought, "Man, that must be a ROUGH part of town and they MUST be on a first name basis with the area's responding officers." Would it be sorta like Ralph and Sam, something just nonchalant that's an every day thing, hahaha.

 9. What does the thug's age have to do with anything?   If I'm in imminent danger of being killed or serious physical harm then I'm going to stop the threat with deadly force - what age the perpetrator happens to be is immaterial...whether he's 10 years old or 110.

 10. KahrMan, he looked the whole rest of the afternoon for the other half lol. I would have too, even though there is a huge chance it fell off days apart from this half and God knows where that happened. Be nice if he was able to get this deer next year. But if he does it from his back porch in his pajamas while stepping out for a smoke, I'm gonna kick him in the nuts after I unfreeze after coming out of the woods

 12. Finally picked this up today. .300 BLK Remington 700, 16.5" threaded barrel, Hogue stock. Just need optics and a rail to stick it on. Oh and ammo. Maybe a couple more things too.

 14. If a teacher is really that bothered by a finger gun (looks more like a sideways ASL "L" to me), she shouldn't be teaching. She obviously has such a fragile psyche, she could snap at any minute. OMG! There's a gun in this children's book! I remember thinking when I was a kid playing guns this way that we were doing it all wrong--I though the index finger should be curled around an imaginary trigger, rather than be used as the barrel of a gun.

 16. The School Resource Officer here told the other day that if a person took something like a video game controller (that looks like a gun) to school the could actually be charged the same as if they had took a real gun to school.   Zero Tolerance is out of control.   Zero tolerance is the modern term used the same way as I was only following orders.   Zero tolerance removes all responsibility to make decision at a local level and replaces with a predetermined response.  One size does not fit all.

 17. I too have always been a Ford guy, but I had owned examples of all domestic trucks over the years.  A few months ago I bought an '04 Tundra crew cab.  Same reasons as you, family.  I don't ever see myself going back to a domestic truck.  Mine had a little less than 130K on it but it is tight.  Way tighter than any Ford I've seen with that mileage.  I love everything about my Tundra except the gas mileage leaves a little to be desired.  But it drives great and has plenty of power, tows good to and is comfortable even in the back seat.  There is something lacking though, it just doesn't have "truck character" to me, not like my old F-150 did.  It just seems more like a car with a bed, that has its good side too though.

 19.   I was looking for a Ford when I found my Tundra too. I assumed the Ford would be less expensive, but for the options I wanted I couldn't find a Ford anywhere close to the price. After I bought the Tundra a mechanic friend of mine, who is also a TGO member said I made the right choice. He said he sees way too many of the (I think) 5.4L F150s in his shop. As with all things car related, YMMV. I, however, am forever a Toyota man now. At least when it comes to trucks.

 20. Put a primed case in the chamber with the headstamp at 12 and 6. Fire the primer. Eject it and see what direction off center it is(12, 6, 3, 9 o'clock) That may help determine the problem.

 21. You also may want to look inside the truck for dirt and rust on metal parts up under the dashboard as a better indication of possible flood damage. That is what my son does when someone brings a car into his repair shop to be checked out before buying and he has found quite a few that had water up in the dash systems with  dried mud still caked on the wires up inside the dash.................jmho

 22. But you are at the point of going into debt? I won't argue with you but before you sign that contract look at the bottom line and see what you will be really paying for the now 4 year older dream truck at the end of contract.   Good luck.

 23. How is the barrel lock up? Is it at all possible that the barrel lug or locking insert/block is damaged or not "fitted" in alignment? Is it a new Stamped Slide or older one? I don't have a Sig to compare, but looking at my Glock. It seems at some point the firing pin would hit the inside of the slide before it would go that far off center? Of course the Sigs may have an elongated firing pin hole. Maybe it could possibly let the firing pin "fall" low enough to hit the primer rim and cause a failure to fire?   I'm thinking something is not "in line" between the barrel and breech face/ firing pin? Than again I'm not a gun smith nor do I own a Sig.   If it were me I'd shoot it until it fails. Then I'd know I have a problem. You could call Sig and ask them, but you'd probably get the generic "It's working, so all is fine" response.

 24.   I've got some Nobel Sport 2  3/4 LE double naught, has 12 pellets instead of 9. Those babies must be loaded with frigging nuke material. It's worse than 3 inchers.   Even the Mosinites in the crew declined to shoot it more than once. I relegated it to "use only if SHTF and all other buckshot is expended" status myself.   - OS

 25. I think that fact that "he wont' go away" has as much to to with the news outlets (and people who refuse to let it drop) as it does Zimmerman himself. He's probably just trying to generate some income but I suspect almost everything he does is going to generate a "news story" and then someone will post it here. ;) As you noted above, except for the attempt to make this a "race" killing Zimmerman and Martin would have been quickly forgotten after the trial (assuming it ever got to be national news in the first place).

Everything I have heard about the Tundra's has been positive but just get what you want because your the one that has to be happy with your decision...............jmho

 33. tnguy has a good idea.   unless your existing truck is about DOA you could get a helluva used four door for that kind of money.  Heck you could buy a new car for that kind of money.   Assuming the existing truck is in decent order I'd buy a car.

 34. Does anyone know where Waggoner stands on any issues other than "cronyism"? I can't find anything of substance on his website. I specifically want to know where he stands on 2nd Amendment issues. When it comes to issues that will get my vote, cronyism isn't even a blip on my radar. I want a Sheriff that isn't going to be agitating to ban guns in county parks, and isn't going to be going around asking businesses to put up gun buster signs. I want a Sheriff's department that defends my civil rights, including my right to keep and bear arms.   So far I've been pleased with the Knox county Sheriff's department so I'm very hesitant to vote for some other guy when I don't know where he stands on these issues.   Also, I didn't get one of these letters (so far), but I also didn't take the class through the Sheriff's department.

 38.
One of things I find most humorous here is the comment about already being taxed to death.... LOL And this is coming from a state where you pay no state income tax.... Now mind you I don't like paying taxes any more than the next guy, and one of the reasons that we are moving to TN in the next couple of months is the fact that y'all have no state income tax; and I'll admit that while I enjoy ordering from the interent for obvious reasons I do give my local shops at lot of patronage as I know that there is a lot more than "bottom line cheapest out the door price" to consider here....
We are being taxed to death. Just because TN hasn't jumped on the commie train and instated an unrepealable income tax, like so many other states, doesn't mean that the crushing sales tax isn't significant. We pay the gov on 10 percent of everything we buy. This is on top of all the hidden taxes we never see, all the taxes we do see and the super crushing federal income tax. Yes, we are taxed to death. Some states are just a lot worse than ours. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 46.       I am a 26 year commercial pilot with many many many thousands of hours in the left seat. I haven't flown international in years but I'm 99% sure even off our coasts there is zero GPS type "tracking" that all tracking/ positioning is plotted by pilot induced position reports over the Sat Com.  Now, most other countries outside of the US and Europe, they don't have jack for modern ground technology when it comes to radios, radar or radar coverage.    I just ask a buddy of mine that flies captain on a 767 for Continental and he hasn't got back to me but I'd bet my paycheck US carriers don't use this technology and I guarantee third world countries don't have tracking.
