Unlike most people on this thread, I was actually at the Everything Weapons store this past week to pick up some ammo and a couple mags. Their Armscor 22LR price is at $55/500rds now. Also, there is a 10% discount on everything in the store except guns. So they're paying our sales tax, which I think is great. Finally, as I am a poor college student, I used to buy guns online at Buds or cheaperthandirt and have them transferred to EW because their transfer fee is reasonable and they are very helpful with any questions I have and don't ignore me like other gun stores around town. But last week, I noticed that most if not all of their guns are match priced with buds! I don't know how a storefront retailer can afford to do that, but they obviously manage. I appreciate having a place in town like EW and I will continue to visit the store, regularly. I'm not going to condemn an entire locally owned and operated business just because they had a high price on ONE particular ammo. Like other people said, who knows what their cost is? If you can find it elsewhere cheaper, then good for you. But some of us, who don't want to get up at 4am to stand in line at walmart for substandard Winchester 333 that won't even cycle in my 22, will go to EW.
Interesting choice for a your first post on TGO.4 points

There is nothing wrong with thanking someone for a job well done, be it a police officer, a sales clerk, or a street sweeper. When a person who is in a given position expects the rest of the world to bow down and kiss their feet I certainly have no more respect for them regardless of whether or not they have any authority. I've needed and received police assistance before, I was always thankful and let the officers know it, but like I previously mentioned I'm glad to thank anyone who did their job which resulted my benefit. Heck I usually thank the minimum wage employees in the drive through that hand me my food, it's polite.3 points

I just flagged an ad on Armslist for overpriced .22 ammo and got the "the community has spoken, this ad has been rejected" message. Choke on it, reseller scum.2 points

Not bad for $38.50. Price on the Gold Bullets was $11.27 That's .05 per round. I was never a fan of the old GB's and I'm hoping they really are "New and improved. My local WM has removed the 3 box limit on everything but .22. The girl behind the counter tells me the hoarders and re-sellers are becoming less.2 points

I haven't read all of this. Too much bickering and whining. I just got home from vacation. On that vacation, the widow of a close friend spread his ashes over the mountains of East Tennessee. She is a young widow because her husband was doing his job to keep the people travelling through Jackson Mississippi safe. As he was putting a gas grill someone had dropped on the interstate into his cruiser, he was struck and killed by an inattentive driver. I will say this, there ain't a lot of a chance that I could get killed in a similar fashion doing my job. Though anything is possible. What I do have to say is a simple 'Thank You,' to anyone and everyone who does something to put someone else above themselves. No matter the profession.2 points

Well, all in all I am glad that I was able to get a lot of attention to my post anyway. It also enabled me to learn were many folks minds are. They are for the most part on two items with guns being one and a little blue pill for another................ :biglol: :biglol:2 points

I think far too many people over value themselves and their professions. Romans 12:3 A man who provides for his family and is content with the choice and agreements he has made doesn't need to pander for reinforcement, compliments, gratitude, or favor. Service only counts if it is selfless. Stuff like the above, while meant to be in thanks, demeans the server and the service. LE is a job. If they don't like the hours, pay, benefits, etc then they can choose to do something else just like any other job and that goes for any profession. When I hear this kinda of stuff that tries to makes any one sound like a saint and claim some noble service, I have to ask would they do it for free? That is true service. Thanks for a job well done, but no saint hood for taking a good paying job. Regardless of the job.2 points

Stopped at SMKW last week. I checked out their ESEE collection. All the ESEEs were on sale so basically the were priced like the Interweb prices. Best of all immediate gratification. This is one hell of a knife. Well balanced and great feel. I like the liners, I think I'm going to dye the scales black.1 point

I'm not aware of any reloading dies that produce the fluted heavy crimp seen on some magnum and +p loads, and at or near the base of the bullet. Two types of crimp for the reloader, both applied to the case mouth. Pistol rounds use a taper crimp to close the case mouth after the bullet is seated. As Raoul said, this removes the belling formed by the expander die, adding only a slight inward taper to the case. If you can see it, you probably crimped too much. Revolver rounds use either a taper crimp, or a heavier roll crimp which rolls the case mouth into the cannelure on the bullet.1 point

I wouldn't think that very many brick and mortar gun stores in the US could price match Bud's all the time and stay in biz period, unless selling firearms isn't a mission critical part of it. - OS1 point
Who has belittled anyone in this thread? I'll bet it's difficult to move around with that gigantic chip on your shoulder. Just because one doesn't always bow down at the altar of the FOP, that doesn't mean they are cop bashing or belittling anyone. They do a job, they get paid. That's sort of how the rest of the world works. This day and age, I admire anyone who works hard and makes an honest living. This includes, but is not limited to law enforcement officers.
No chip on my shoulder, you're the one all riled up and making personal attacks over a choice of words you disagree with. If I find it belittling to suggest that being a cop is no more worthy of praise than being a janitor, that's my call. And I call 'em like I see 'em. If you feel that all jobs are equal and anyone who appreciates one more than another is bowing down to some altar, that's your call. No reason to get personal. That's what gets threads locked.1 point

I respect your job and some jobs have higher risk. You knew the pay, hours and commitment when you signed up. When did job duties and tasks become a badge of honor? If I don't perform at my job the 18 people who report to me don't get paid which results in their families not being able able to buy food. Where does that put me as compared to others? Actually you shouldn't care...just respect that I work and treat others with dignity and respect1 point

The wood on mine was beat-to-hell, but the metal finish was good and the original chrome-lined Bulgarian barrel looked to be NOS. Finding the Soviet era plum stock set as a replacement was a minor victory since those have now become hard to find. It took me a couple of years to locate a matching Tula shiny plum pistol grip. AIM had AK-74 mags that had been painted in some sort of thick black paint. Somebody figured out that stripping them with Citristrip Gel would not hurt them. Some of the ones I did still had the inked Soviet inspection stamps. There were a mix of both Russian and Bulgarian mags coming from AIM back then, you didn't know what you had until the paint was stripped off. I would have to look up to be sure, but I think the 1080 round tins of Russian 5.45 were going for around $120 back in 2009/2010. That led to a lot of AR uppers being build in 5.45. The stuff I got was all late 80s production and being Soviet era it has corrosive primers.1 point

I suggest you do a google search for "m4carbine Barnes TSX 70gr" and see how hard these tough critters hit the ground. Personally, I could care less if these destructive rodents get gut shot my a 50 cal and have a slow death. Imagine if law enforcement turned into a hard line business with no compassion, enthusiasm, and was ran like a bank or business where policy and procedure is adhered to in a rigid manner? Kind of like banks, insurance companies and investment firms?? Imagine if an officer told someone sorry I don't do CPR for strangers. The law says I don't have to, or call us after you call every person you know before reporting your child missing because we don't respond to speculation. Ask a banker at a higher level to flex policy or procedure they'll laugh at u while taking a million a year home for a job their frat brother hooked em up with.when someone tells someone who works in public service o find another job that pays more money and move on I say fuck off. Most adults in public service enjoy helping others to a degree. Some help beyond their minimum expectations. That's the reward. Crap pay is a unwanted evil that goes with helping others for a living. unless of course you're one of those dirtbags that claims their with a public safety organization. They collect a million bucks over the phone and get to keep 2/3 of it to help the public servants that need financial aid. Most of us in mid tn know Lloyd Poteet, who does hire officers for security and other needs. Most in public service work second jobs because there is a desire to live and not just survive on the shit wages paid. Public service folks usually deserve a lot more than the pay at hand. Does that banker deserve a million a year for showing up to perform menial a tasks? Or does a complete stranger giving mouth to mouth res to a 6 mo old baby or 90 year old woman deserve it?? Everyone needs to earn a living but generally speaking le pay is Crap. Teacher pay is crap as other service jobs are agreed. I don't think any officers fireman or ps folks are looking for anything except a simple thanks once in a while and money at the end of the week. I have been very conscious of this. Its at his pace, but I want him to have excellent equipment and opportunities that I did not have at this same age. He really does like baseball. Any time that I can steal him away from video games is a big plus in my book!1 point

I am so tired of listening to CNN and hear them every 10 minutes with "Breaking News!". I literally just heard them come back from a commercial with "Breaking News" to say that planes are taking off in Australia. No sh!t? That phrase gets thrown around way too much in the media. I almost expect them to say when the plane is found "Breaking News! We're not f###ing around this time!"...1 point

Thank you, that's an incredible offer. Thing is, now that I'm retired (and have some medical issues, I can't really go back to work) I can't afford to buy the things I could when I was sailing. I'm hoping to get enough from the forced sale of the house and most of my other stuff to buy an RV. I'm looking for one around the 20K range. Hey, life is change, and change is adventure. If you really want the truck, shoot me a PM and I will give you her phone number. She's in Atlanta, the truck is here in Mooresburg. The tires are muddy ;)1 point

Exactly. They were selling the same stuff for $20 a brick more. Someone has the balls to come here and say they aren't making a bunch of money on .22 ammo. They sure as hell aren't going to lose money at $54.99, so they sure as hell were gouging.1 point

Not saying it does not hurt to lose folks but the reaction is disproportionate to the problem. Per the CDCs 2010 report, homicide is not even in the top 15. Car accidents collisions are always disproportionately #1 , followed by birth defects and cancer. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/children.htm Turning us into a bigger police state does not seem like the correct response.1 point
