  2. If you ask me one big reason is there are just too many shows now.  It's gotten out of hand.  Knoxville averages at least one show per month.   When I was a kid there were like 2 shows a year (in Memphis) and they were mighty good shows.

  3.   OR...   And I'm just throwing this out there because we all know that every cop in the world is a jack-booted thug who beats citizens with a rubber hose and eats babies, but in a hypothetical world where cops were people too, the Sgt. in question maybe wanted to know for his own personal sake for his own personal firearms collection which may or may not include an AR15 pistol.

  5. I was going to a Mom and Pop restaurant for many years and it was never posted. Then all at once I go there and it is posted. I spoke to the manager and he said that a few of his customers were complaining about seeing customers with guns and it was alarming to them because of their children. I said well I have been eating here for about 10 years and no one has ever seen my gun. He asked me what he could do to keep his business and not lose any customers so I offered him and option. I recommended posting his business as a Concealed Carry only restaurant and see how well that works. Next time I went there the sign read Concealed Carry Only. The place was packed with customers no one knew who was armed and who was not. The manager stopped by my table just after the waitress put my ticket on my table and he picked it up and thanked me as he has been seeing as increase in his business since re-posting and he liked my idea. I think if managers are willing to listen to other alternatives than just posting No Guns it can help both the HCP people and the businesses...........jmho

  6. If I'm reasonably well dressed and out eating I've started politely asking managers at places that are currently posted if they would like to change their mind to win a customer and get added to the "posted!" app as a non-posted alternative. I've had one business owner get angry b/c someone else had apparently stickered his business without asking him and one manager that removed the gunbuster while I stood there.(and it has stayed down) I've found that if they see the app and realize how easy it is for me to find a gun friendly alternative on the handy map and dine elsewhere(across the parking lot in some cases) that all of a sudden they don't so much like being on the list of restaurants I won't patronize. I've also talked to several that won't budge but I'm always very respectful of their opinions and thank them for taking the time to speak to a potential customer.

  9. Worth a look see, this one is scheduled for floor vote in the Senate next week, s/c Finance, Ways and Means in House. Looking at the Amendment which makes the bill, DO NOT be fooled by the names on the Amendments, Kelsey and Lundberg DID NOT write them, we are looking at "flow" which means that the GA is trying to get into pick-pocket mode, and any one can add an amendment, had they been timely filed, they would have gone to the committees chaired by the names on the Amendment.   Bill summary:   http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/billinfo/BillSummaryArchive.aspx?BillNumber=SB2424&ga=108   Amendment:   http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Amend/SA1043.pdf Redo on the Fiscal Note: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Fiscal/SB2424.pdf   Word is, there is a fair chance this could pass in the Senate, does not cure all, but is for sure a step in the right direction.   Tune those phones up, if nothing else, we need to support Sen. Kelsey's fine work...(sarcasm off)

  10. My question is how many folks have been awakened in the middle of the night and needed to call the police and what was the response you received? Not on something personal but maybe an intruder call or something of that nature? I had something happen several years back that later on I found it rather amusing. This was my 1 and only experience.   Had an incident about 5 years ago and didn't really give it much thought till recently.  Had a few Immigrants try to help themselves to some high end fishing rods off deck of my bass boat in my carport about 2AM one night. They might have gotten away with it but my guard dog was on duty and asleep under the boat. I could tell her to guard the boat and she would sleep under it in summertime. Shes not really a barker as much as a reaction type guard dog and bites first and then barks. She took a large chunk of meat out of the lower calf of one of latinos and he set into screaming and I cleared the door with flashlight and cell in one had and Bersa in the other and his buddy had taken off as I exited the door and only got a glimpse of him . The idiot thought he was going to punch Kasey but he found out that didn't work cause she got hold of 3 of his fingers and took 2 off at the first knuckle. (Her daddy was Chow and her Momma was Black Mouth Kerr so her jaws are like a vice.) Then the guy jumps up in my boat to get away from her and he bleeding like a stuck pig all over my boat carpets and screaming something in Spanish at Kasey. I had the carport lights on by then and I yelled at him to shut the hell up because the dog does not understand Spanish. I get on my cell phone and called the police @ 911. This is where it got really interesting. Now it's a Wednesday night  in this town and the dispatcher ask me what was my emergency and I told her I needed a squad car and an ambulance. She said it's going to be about 20 minutes because they are pretty busy right now. I politely told her that was fine. I would just shoot the guy a few times and when they got a chance they could stop by and unload him out of my boat. She said you can't do that and I told her to stay on the line so she could hear the shots and she said they were on the way right now and I should have help in a few minutes. I said Thank You. It was about 1 minute before I heard sirens coming from about 3 different directions. Inside of about about 4 minutes I had all kinds of help. I told one of the officers that his buddy was hiding behind a garden shed in my neighbors yard. He said he would request a  k-9. I was looking at Kasey and she had her run cable stretched out tight towards the neighbors shed with both her ears stood straight up. She knew he was there. I told the officer to get a buddy and just wait right there and I unhooked Kasey. She went around that building and here the guy comes running wide open, screaming towards the police officers. He is lucky he didn't get shot because both officers had their guns out with Kasey hot on his heels. I grabbed her and they grabbed him. After a little questioning come to find out they worked for the lawn service that cut my neighbors yard. The were illegal and so was every employee the guy had on his payroll but himself. They arrested him and took all of his equipment and shipped the other guys off to ICE for processing.  What I found so amusing after I thought about it was I have lived in this town for many years and I have never seen the police busy on a Wednesday night at 2AM except that night and it was funny that when I said I will just shoot the guy she had a better idea real quick and the Calvary was on the way. I also had to laugh at one of the police officers when he said we need that dog working for us and his partner laughed and agreed. I was just wondering if anyone else has had an experience with the police in the middle of the night and what kind of response you got from the 911 operator. Oh yea, It cost my boat insurance company over $700.00 to re carpet my boat after they paid a company to try and wash out the stains.

  11.   Stated by an Advocare pusher no doubt.   Of course it is a pyramid, plus MLM,  just like Amway and any number of lesser known ones, in that more people can make more money by enlisting other "distributors" than by selling the actual products. People just paying the sign up fee, the money filters up the pyramid regardless of whether any products are actually sold or not.   - OS

  22. Do You Guys Really Think That The Corporations Care What You Pay FOR GAS? IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHO IS IN OFFICE OR THE KEYSTONE PIPELINE. FUEL PRICES WILL NEVER BE LOW AGAIN, BECAUSE JUST LIKE GUN AND AMMO PRICES, THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HAS SHOWN THAT IT CAN ABSORB CONSTANT MINIMAL INCREASES EVEN WHILE WE COMPLAIN ABOUT SAID INCREASES. USING THE STRATEGIC RESERVES IS JUST AN ELECTION YEAR PACIFIER. JMO

  23. Same ole through the years, panic up to $3, settles back down $2, panic to $4, settles to $3, etc.   Of course it will be $5 standard at some point. Very analogous to ammo, just not as volatile. Pretty sure I don't know of anything that stays same price or less over time, eh?   - OS

  24. whats funny is if you ever walked through the kitchens of some of the no guns places, you'd wanna trade your weapon for a flamethrower to burn out the rats and micro organisms growing in theses places that would kill a child if ingested through preventable contamination. I like the CCW only post, but if they post NO weapons they best post a 100% pass score from the board of health.Trust me, Ive seen crap in some of these kitchens that makes meth labs look like sanitized clean rooms at intel. nasty nasty nasty. :puke: guns should be the least of their worries.....for some   There is incentive to be gun free according to the website along with free advertisement,Id like to see the survey that was used to come up with their findings: We Want to Be Listed as Gun Free, but Do Not Want to Post a Sign That is not possible.  Under the new law, if you do not post a sign, registered gun owners are allowed to bring their guns.  Can You Choose to Not be Listed at All? No.  We will report whatever your policy is, as expressed by whether or not you post a No Gun sign.  Survey of Restaurant Customers Surveys conducted by the Tennessee Hospitality Industry show that if you post a no-gun sign, many more people say that they are more likely to go to your restaurant (53%) than say they would be less likely to go to your restaurant (11%). We believe it would be good for your business to post a no-gun sign, but that choice is up to you. Whatever choice you make, we will let the public know. Gun Free Restaurants Get Free Links If you post no-gun signs, we will provide a link to your restaurant to help advertise to your customers. Will Posting a No Gun Sign Interfere with Police? No.  Police can cary their guns with them, even if there is a No Gun sign posted.

  29. I soak my holsters/sheaths in water or coffee (the coffee darkens them, if you want.) I wrap the gun or knife in a plastic bag and spend a couple hours while watching a movie smoothing it all out with either my fingers or a sharpie marker. Gives a really nice custom boned fit.   It has never failed for me.   I suppose there is a bit of hesitation to drop a $75+ holster into a pot of warm water, but it gets easier after the first time.

  30. Last year was the first year I took my return and bought something nice. This year, and every year before, it goes into an account, just like it otherwise would if the IRS hadnt stole it. I agree, taxes shouldn't be taken out of one's paycheck. All Americans should have to write a check for what they owe at the end of the year. Things sure would change in regard to all these well intentioned bleeding hearts. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  31. I would much rather get a return every year. It's much easier for me to ave $1,000 when I get a lump sum check than it is for me to put aside that $25-40 from every paycheck.

  32.   They will be moving to 7.  No big company in their right mind would deploy 8 on a wide basis unless they have some massive in-house training program and IT staff who will even fool with it.  Large organizations will be on 7 until a suitable replacement is released.

  35. Thanks for telling that, Leroy.   My dear old daddy did pretty much the same thing with his homemade holsters when he shot competition in the 60's. Always had some of the best fitting rigs around. His buds were always asking him to make theirs.   Man, that's been a long time ago.

  39. I'm hooked and so is my wife.  Really, once you're married you can't get into a show that your spouse isn't into, so I'm glad she brought this one to my attention.  We Netflix it when a new season is released on Blu Ray since I travel so much that we'd never be able to follow a season in real time.  It's a lot easier just to rent it, then main line a season over the course of a couple weeks.   And as for characters, favorite one is Khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryan.  She has undergone the most development as a character from what she was to what she is.  It makes her the most interesting character, to me.  And boobies.  Boobies are certainly a plus.   We haven't done Season 3 yet, but will start it next month.  Hopefully I didn't make a mistake by posting in this thread like I did with the Walking Dead thread.... spoilers showing up in the feed on Tapatalk that can't be unseen.

  43. With all due respect, the article is simply one man's opinion. I've yet to handle, let alone own an unreliable 1911. Further, I fail to understand why a 1911 is so much more difficult to master than any other handgun.

  45. I have six 1911's and they all function perfectly right out of the box, but they would all put a Colt to shame, as far as them needing any "tinkering" some people just can't leave things alone and start swapping parts before they know what the problem is. A good bit of FTF's are due to poor Mags. and weak Recoil Springs, along with not taking a firm grip. I carry a 1911 daily as my personal protection weapon I won't carry anything else, but that's just me.
