Yeah, the more people Obama makes feel poor the more people will probably vote for him and his promises of turning the poor into middle class. I have always said there needs to be poor and there needs to be rich as well as all those in the middle. If everyone made the same then we would all be living worse off than we do now. If tomorrow all the poor were given a million dollars then that would be the new poverty level with the liberals screaming they need more money from those who are not "poor". Everyone has the same opportunity to not be poor but the lazy ones are the ones who are content with being poor so long as they can be lazy. I have seen trailers with a blue tarp covering the 1/2 that burned and there are still people living in it. Now you never see the car leave the driveway so they are content to live in a 1/2 burned house so long as they do not have to work. Funny thing is all those programs designed to help the poor are actually programs to enslave, making them reliant upon their master to survive. The welfare programs couldn't be designed any better to enslave those the government wishes to control. ln exchange for a small amount of money those enslaved agree to give up any aspirations they might have for a better life. I know I would be pissed if I looked back at my life and realized I gave up my dreams for what amounted to less than minumum wage. We have both worked hard our entire lives to get what we have. If they want to call us poor at least I know, in my heart, I worked for what I have and in my mind that makes me a richer person than anyone who was given any amount of money.5 points

I've never given much thought to which "class" I fit into. Alls I know is that I have everything that I need, and many things that I have been fortunate enough to be able to afford, with enough to be able to donate to charity from time to time. I am not rich by any means, but because I have lived within my means and saved some money, I am comfortable. I have a family I love and they love me back. I have some good friends who I could call if I ever needed them. All in all, I am a blessed man and I would wish the same for anyone else.3 points

The bottom line for me is pretty simple. I feel I will have to work until the day that I die regardless of what someone else thinks. My house is not worth what I paid for it 9 years ago, my 401K has survived 3 recessions in 7 years, I make less than I did 10 years ago, and my current pay raises don't keep up with my increase in medical insurance much less the cost of living. I'm screwed, but so are a lot of other people.3 points

This blade in modeled after a "Bird and Trout Knife" but could be an ADC knife as well with the proper sheath. It's made of 1/8" 1095 carbon steel And the blade is about 3 3/8" and the over all length is right at 8" which gives it a nice comfortable grip. The scales are made from black canvas micarta and white linen micarta with lime green liners for contrast. The pins are nickle silver corby rivets for strength and has a SS lanyard hole. The lines you see on the blade were covered with pin striping tape prior to acid etching and the blade edge was covered with nail polish. It was etched for 20 minutes to make the "lines" stand a bit proud of the steel. It has generous jimping on the spine just forward of the handle. As always it was a lot of fun learning and experimenting and I really like this little thing. Oh yeah...it's really sharp. So I went to meet a seller today to pickup the Smith 617 we agreed on. I have been looking at them for a few years and kick myself for not getting one before they quit making them. The prices kept going up, so I finally decided I better get one before it gets any worse. So I check it out and all looks good so I give him the cash and take the gun. Before I leave, he mentions he has something he thinks I would like to see so he pulls out another S&W box. Inside is a Smith 648 which is also no longer made. At first I thought he was just showing it to me as he knew I like small caliber Smith's, but he said he would also sell it if I was interested. Needless to say I ended up coming home with two new (to me) revolvers. I have a 4" 686, but I may have to get a 6" to make a set. Now just to find some nice wood combat grips, I just can't stand the black hogue grips.2 points

I think that placing people into classes is a divide and conquer government tactic. Income classes, races, gender, sexual orientation, gun owner v/s gun banners, etc. I don't care what class I'm in. Some people I associate with consider me wealthy, while others would deem me dirt poor. It's all perspective.2 points

If you like the gun, $475 is a decent price. I'd offer $450, just because... but you aren't going to get one much less than that, and by the time you've scoured the internet looking, it's probably worth the $20-40 bucks you might save to just buy from your buddy.2 points

I'd double check the recall even if he bought it afterwards. You never know how long the gun might have sat on some gunshops shelf. Better to be safe than sorry at any price.2 points

As Americans, we shouldn't be labeled or placed in classes. It is a political division by the so called "elites", pathetic. Me and the ol lady look at where we are, and are happy with what we have and with our life. That's all that matters, we're not loaded, but we are content. Of course the socialists are hell bent on ruining that for ALL of us.2 points

It's sat around in TN Weather for 10 + years. I've had a few boats in the past 40 years and to me the biggest issue might be the rubber water pump impeller (depending on manufacturer). It's normally located int he lower unit. Here's a couple of youtube vids on how folks go about replacing them. You're engine might be different but if you lose it out on the lake you might burn up your motor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUJP93UpCyA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiQNhFYFvdQ2 points

I just went through this with an elderly aunt that had signs of dementia. I ask my father if he got the guns out of the house; he said he did. It’s not about rights it’s about responsibility. Of course gun rights pales in comparison to all the other issues families have to deal with in these situations.2 points

I am putting is here because of a previous discussion in this forum. Just a reminder of what we have in relation to other countries and the differing views on what "justice" means. The article below is about proposals in New Zealand to do away with either (I) the right to remain silence or (ii) the assumption of innocence in rape cases. Both sides (both of which are proposing things to reduce defendants' rights) say the reforms are needed to obtain "justice" (rather than get justice for the defendant). You will notice that rape cases there have had a much easier burden of proof than we have in the US since the 1980s. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11291109 The point is that everyone has a different view of what "justice" means and how to get it. Our system is far from perfect, but I can't imagine having a system like what is being proposed in New Zealand. However, this isn't the first time the right to remain silent has been challenged in NZ.1 point

Speaking of less expensive .45s, I think the Kahr CT45 qualifies. Just ran 2 clips of round-nose lead and one rd. of Silvertip. No cycling problems. Quite a bit of muzzle rise. Not a double tap machine in my one or two hands. The one area I plan to improve is the addition of a rubber grip cover. The polymer grip is hatched with some pretty sharp edges. And the circumference is a tad small for my liking. Ordered Pachmayr and Hogue grips 2 days ago. The accompanying Manual still suggests 200 rds before reliability is established but 2 reviews have countered that argument. This is my first Kahr and I'm really liking the smooth trigger action and the curve design of the trigger. And the fact that it's spittin' the first few without hang-ups is a bonus.1 point

I just sat and flipped my 2 open 30-40 times each and had no issues at all. The only thing I noticed was that one of them had a much more authoritative thunk when it opened, and the other opened with a slight bit of hesitation at first. But after repeated firings, it works just fine.1 point

Ok, so Midway is giving away free shipping for orders over $25. I got that. As miserably expensive as they are I figured I'd give them one more chance and decide to buy some new scope rings. Sure enough the shipping is free. I ordered them on the July 8 and the site said free shipping, expect delivery on July 14. Or...... you can spend $3 shipping and get it on July 10. I figure thats ok so I checked the box for the 10th. Since they had free shipping I figured I'd have a look on their clearance page and see if there's anything else I need. I saw a fare price on some 9mm cast lead bullets so I add them to the cart. No biggie since it's covered. I also added a handy lens cleaner for my new NightForce scope that I'm buying the rings for. All is good. I go back to the cart and now find a couple of pounds of lead added now changes the shipping from free to added expense. I say to myself, "self, that's strange I went from $72 way up over $110 and now they want to charge me shipping that they say for anything over $25 is free". I felt like they were doing it again and planning on loosing me as a customer all over again but i figured I'd remove the bullets and ship it so i'd get it in a couple of days because at this point it's more trouble to get search for the same price point/free shipping although I know it's out there but as I mentioned above, I wanted to give them one more chance. I set my order and pay the bill and the next thing I know I get the invoice saying it'd ship and arrive at my house on July 18th. Old potterfield got me again! Let this be a warning there are other places you can buy the same products for the same price or less and not have to go through this garbage with Midway. Brownells comes to mind along with a mess of other places. Buy from them at your own risk of BS! I wrote a review reference their business practices but I'm sure it will not be allowed in print even though no obscene language was used.1 point

As a Police Officer I cuffed and stuffed people took them to jail where they stayed until they could post a bond. So forgive me if I laugh when I hear innocent until proven guilty. A person should not have to be taken into custody unless they are a (in the eyes of the investigating Officers or a Judge) a threat to someone. How does putting up money make them less of a threat? The right to remain silent isn’t an issue. Everyone knows they have that right. Most of the time you can’t shut people up, then they want to use Miranda to get the statements they made thrown out of court. Even when they sign a waiver they will try to get statements thrown out; I don’t see anything changing here. Two of the other big problems I have seen is you buy your level of “justiceâ€. Some people can’t afford the best attorney. The other issue is you are rarely paying for their courtroom experience; but who they know to make the best deal. How many of your cases go to a full trial? It’s still a good system; it just isn’t a “Justice for all†system. Could it be made a better system without more of a burden on taxpayers; probably not.1 point

Yep. Vent hose and overtemp sensor. If you use fabric softener in the dryer, over time it will gunk up the sensors. And speaking of dryer vent hoses.... Please clean them out periodically. Lots of houses burn to the ground from dryer vent hoses catching fire.1 point

I had one post recall with 5 mags that took forever to sale for $500. I would say it is the going rate or a little on the high side but not too bad. See if he will let you shoot it first. They have A LOT of recoil and I normally am not too sensitive to recoil.1 point

Pay isn't the issue, instead it's our devalued money. In the early 60's minimum wage was $1.75/hour, but that money was based on gold and silver. Today those five silver quarters are worth ~$20. If the current minimum wage was paid in silver quarters, you'd have ~$116 in buying power. So we have about 700% inflation between the sixties and now.1 point

I love to hack at it, but I don't have the time or inclination to dedicate to becoming good at it. I measure success by the number of balls I lose and the number of times my ball is used during best ball play. I played frequently when I was a cop working the evening shift. Back then I could drive the ball 300 yards in the air, but today after 2 back surgeries and a couple of decades later I'm lucky to get 300 on the ground. I have a set of Taylor Made Burners and a Cleveland wedge, but I just won a Nike hybrid a couple of weeks ago that I've yet to try.1 point

We are fortunate to have a lot of nice courses in Middle TN. My favorite is probably Greystone, but I also like President's Reserve. The new course in Spring Hill is pretty decent as well. Right now I am using Nike Slingshots, Vokey Wedges, and a Nike putter. Had Titleist 990's before that. I don't play enough now to worry about being good, but I still like to get out every now and again.1 point

I think the terminology is very subjective, and depends on where you live and the culture of your community. I remember dating a girl in high school who considered my family rich because we had a new house built. Not a big house, mind you. Just a house. This was a step up from the double wide we lived in. My parents saved for 15 years to get that property and house. But we were considered well off because we didn't live in the trailer park anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

If you make enough to pay for everything WITHOUT receiving government assistance then I think you are middle class. As soon as you start getting benefits then I think you are poor and the government wants everyone to be poor yet pay taxes. Funny how that works, the government gives you money then takes it back. I guess so they can change were the money is and how they can use it. Talking of taxes they have tried several times to pass a law that would equate the money saved as income if you owned something. How it works is if you own your home, or anything else of value like cars, the government assesses it to determine how much it would rent for then they add that amount to your taxable annual income. It would apply to cars and almost anything you own that has rental value. Think of it as property tax for anything that sits on your property. There are dozens of countries that do it in Europe and have done so for a very long time. Anyone who has been to Germany has seen the streets filled with useable furniture and other items thrown away, that is so they are not taxed on those items. BTW, they also tax church goers.1 point
Yeah I hate at will firing states, because you are a slave to greedy corporations. I was fired a couple of times over the years over crap someone accused me of, and at will opens the door to all kinds of discriminatory firings, or being fired simply because they don't like you. I wish the at will thing would just die, you should have a good concrete reason for being fired at a job. Corporations only care about money and would grind their employees into dust to save a few pennies. Look at Wal Mart, many of their employees are on food stamps and welfare while they made billions in profit. With that said, I worked at a gas station, and carried when I worked there. My right to self defense trumps an employer's property rights. If I would have gotten fired for using it, I would have just found another job, at least I would be alive to.
I have the opposite view. I would much rather work in an at will state.1 point
