I've been on the lookout for an older Remy 700 30.06 ADL or BDL for a couple of years. Recently found this BDL vintage 1996. It's in excellent condition and came with a Leupold 4.5x15 VX scope.7 points

That's actually cheaper than buying a $49.99 blem from PSA once you add on shipping and transfer fee.3 points

Uncle Steve passed away last night from complications of heart attack 7 years ago. He is my wife's uncle but since getting married and my family is so far away he always was family to me. He was a big man with a big heart regardless of how his real heart felt. He would do anything for you and it didn't matter how long it's been since you'd talked you were his friend and he wanted to come say high. Yes that even means waving you down from across the Walmart parking lot just find out he played softball with your husband in the 80s. I appreciate any prayers for the family and travel for those of us that have to head to Upper E TN. John 11:25-26 Jesus said ..., "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die...."2 points

Ignorance knows no bounds. You know how many knuckle draggin’ rednecks I’ve had make stupid comments about Yankees when I told them I was Illinois? Yet those same rednecks heads almost explode when I tell them the SCOTUS can’t tell them they can strap on a gun and walk down the street; it’s a violation of States Rights. Who you are or what you believe is not defined by where you are from. The Jews weren’t the only ones that were tortured and killed during the war. And the Nazi’s weren’t the only bad guys; the Japanese were every bit as brutal. But its history; we should know it, we should remember it and we should teach our children the truth. I don’t think people that collect historical memorabilia necessarily align themselves with the group they are collecting. I collect guns, many people don’t understand why, don’t like it, and want to stop it.2 points

This is a call for prayers because of attacks from the TN ACLU & members of the public. Oneida High School (Scott County) is where both of my parents, my brother & I graduated from, & both of my young sons currently attend. My family & I even live across the street from the school. Right now OHS is getting national attention for allowing prayers before football games & a lot of it is negative. The TN ACLU is attacking our school & the cheerleaders & their families have even recieved threats of violence from members of the public. We're a close community with long standing traditions & after nearly 100 years prayers in our school we WILL NOT stop no matter who it affends. Over the years we've seen what happens in our nation's schools when prayer is removed. Westboro Bpt. Church even had the nerve to send members to my town a few years ago on another matter & we stood together & ran them out. Please keep us in your prayers. We need it now more than ever. I have been wanting to do this for a while now and finally received most of the Parts for my Mini Draco today First I want to say I still have not received My side folding Adapter from ACE Therefore I must give a Huge thank you to " Dolomite_Supafly " He sent me a pignose adapter to use till ACE decides I am important enough to receive my Side folding mechanism. Without him I would not have be able to complete this at all I started off with a Mini draco purchased from JGsales which happened to come with a free drum :D Today Most of My parts arrived I plan on doing a sidefolding Pistol brace with the SB15 rather than the sb47 pistol grip mounted, My main reasoning behind this Is I want to be able to fold the Pistol and fit it into a backpack or satchel , The Mini draco is very small and perfect for this so adding anything other than a sidefolder really wasn't an Option for this need, I am currently using The pignose adapter till the folding mechanism arrives. Since the pig nose and folding adapter will use the same holes to mount , I used the Pignose to mark the rear plate on the mini Then I drilled the holes to match the Bolts "I used 8/32 drill and tap and allen head bolts" After completing that I then moved onto the handgaurd As most of you know , as far as options go for the handgaurds on a mini draco there simply are only 2 at the moment The Hotdog bun that it comes with which is just putrid looking to me and the Cheese grater that Midwest industries released The Midwest industries mount is simply to small in My opinion and I wanted the option to remove or add rails if need I chose the Strike Industries Trax-1 Keymod Rail for these reasons However the Trax-1 isnt designed to be mounted on a mini draco so I had to chop the barrel clamp Used to mount the Bottom rail and, notch the top of the rail to fit around the front sight Post I also installed Parrabellum AKARS Dustcover Rail mount Holosun Technologies Mini Reddot optic "hearing great things about this optic cant wait to test it out" Charging handle grip Magpul Pistol grip and AFG Below is what she looks Like now I havent had the chance to shoot it yet and may wait for my 4 pc Bulgarian Flash Hider and folder before doing so , Guess it depends how long It will take to arrive. I am extremely happy with this little weapon and will Update with new Pics when the Flash Hider and sider folder arrive Thanks again Dolomite ...Your a life saver! Updated Pics with Side folder Installed Really love this setup. It now fits into any of my small backpack and even a couple of my Laptop cases Once the 4pc Bulgarian brake Arrives I will be finished Very Excited and Happy with this little pistol1 point

Based on experience, I'd say the chrome bore will definitely be ok with corrosive ammo. The gas system, as you said, is a different story. It will rust like an '80's Chevy. And it is good to be suspicious of all eastern European ammunition. I've found that out the hard way a few times I've even had some recent Sellier & Bellot that was corrosive. BTW, a good soaking with WD-40 will save you a thorough cleaning for those couple days while you're waiting for the cases to rust. Never had a problem with rust with known corrosive ammo when I soaked the bore with the WD. Edit: What is up with that trigger? That's ridonkulous.1 point

Yes and no. Corrosive ammo is not difficult to clean up after but the chrome bore might allow you a little more time to do it. Kinda of a moot point if you consider the gas system is not chrome-lined and will rust up faster than you could ever believe. BTW, milsurp 7.62x39 is a rarity these days. However, I treat it all as corrosive after being burned a couple of years ago on NEW manufacture Russian ammo (KSAP). It is not only corrosive, it is seriously corrosive. Unfortunately, it's really good ammo. Anytime I get new 7.62 ammo I will shoot some, save a couple spent cases, then clean as if corrosive. If it's corrosive, the cases will show in a couple of days as they are steel.1 point

I chose a Stormwerkz hinge and will use a "pig nose" adapter to screw my buffer tube into. It ends up being the same as Plank but a little different setup. Pretty sure my setup will be a little lighter as well. http://stormwerkz.com/stock-folding-mechanisms/stock-folding-mechanism-standard/ The Stormwerkz also locks in the closed position while the ACE does not. And here is the pig nose adapter:1 point

Sounds like he had all his bases covered very well. A man of good tastes to be sure. My grandfather had one old Springfield single shot 12 gauge with a bulge in the barrel, and the fore end duct taped to the barrel. It did double duty as a hunting gun, home defense, and won more than one turkey shoot. I was fortunate enough to heir it, and treasure it greatly.1 point

Clod Stomper, sounds like your granddad was a great man. I can tell he left some very honorable character traits in you, from those early years. You were lucky to have him around to impart his wisdom and integrity for those few years. I had a few more years with mine, and I'm very thankful for every one of them. You're absolutely right. The old JC Higgins is probably the least valuable (in money) gun I have, but I wouldn't part with it. Yea, I think you're right on the modifying of a chamber too. Upon second thought, common sense kicked in about who was the most qualified and knowledgeable about such things...the manufacturer.1 point

I just picked up the Anderson from EW. It was actually $59.99 + tax & TICS. It came to right at $75 OTD. Not as good of a deal as I had hoped, but not bad with you consider not transfer hassle and I got a free range coupon with the purchase. The quality & finish seem to be really good for the price.1 point

jay and all.... I just cant help myself about this... I think it is obscene and completely unamerican to believe that you have to apologize for events, people, ideals, ect that some faceless, overbearing, damnable, self-appointed "they" deem to be "off limits"... When you do that; you acquiesce to the idea that your "polititically correct overseers" can determine what is "off limits" and what is "acceptable for discussion".... That's giving up a helluva lot of ground, and effectively neutering our precious First Amendment.... If you believe in free speech, the "arena of ideas", the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the First Amendment; you cannot give up this ground... I well remember several years ago in Minnesota or Wisconsin (...i believe...) that either a local or a Federal attorney wanted to sensor the speech of several Aryan Nation or Neo Nazi folks over things printed and spoken in the public square during their trial and incarceration... A Federal Judge ruled that these folks could, in fact, say whatever they wanted to say, no matter how heinous to some hearers... She said, in effect, that no one has a right "not to be offended" by the speech of others.... There was another ruling here just the other day in which a Federal Judge said that "...the speech that needs to be protected the most is, in fact, the most controversial, heinous, offensive, and troublesome speech..."... I think he is exactly right...There are no places in the public forum where the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are suspended; in spite of the various attempts of schools, universities, self appointed watchers and overseers, and quite a few politicians do just the opposite.... Your fathers and grandfathers fought in World War II against nazi (...and japanese...) political philosophies, principles and their ensuing atrocities... They discussed them freely and at length before and during the war...There were several veterans of World War I and the isolationist Republicans who thought that we should mind our own business and stay out of that war... You can rest assured that nazi goals, philosophy, and principles were discussed at length in those days before the decision was made to go to war; just as it should be... Fast forward sixty or so years and take a look at the landscape now....The apostate jewish community and the self-appointed watchers of what is "good and right" that inhabit academia, print media, visual media, special interest groups, and politics have done a pretty good job of controlling the playing field by demanding that certain things be "off limits" and not be discussed; and what we are discussing now is a great example of that... I say that nothing should be off limits nor apologized for ahead of the discussion... As the great Charles Barkley said just the other day:..."there are no words I don't use..." He is exactly right... I would go farther and say:..."there are no thoughts i dont think or discuss as I choose"... Don't acquiesce to the idea that you have to apologize for things you didn't do, nor feel the need to add disclaimers that denote disapproval when discussing things that these self-appointed watchers deem to be improper or off limits... I say; "...what if I (...or you, or anybody else, for that matter...), in fact, do believe in the principles and goals of the nazi (...or any other...) philosophy (...Henry Ford did...)... That is a right you have here in the good ole USA...You can, in fact, hold those beliefs and not be afraid to espouse them... That is exactly what the "arena of ideas" and free discussion in the public square is about... That is exactly what the First Amendment was designed to do -- to provide for free and open discussion of revellant issues.... Folks can discuss the issues, and then make an informed decision of what they believe; instead of being told by a bunch of dammed over-seers what they are to think... Those who demand that certain subjects be "off limits"are, in effect, attempting to squelch public discussion of ideas and are seeking to implant their autocratic set of ideals in their stead... There are no "forbidden thoughts" here; in spite of attempts to ban the by the would be censors who have no notion of freedom and believe that they are, in fact, the smartest people in the room and that you should breathlessly bow down to their thoughts, musings, and pronouncements; and slavishly adhere to their particular brand of overbearing dogma... I'll close this little epistle by paraphrasing the words of a forgotten (...to me, at least...) greek philosopher who said: "....It is the mark of education, intelligence, and adulthood to be able to consider a concept or idea without accepting it..." Don't fall prey to the "apology in advance" ideas put up by those who would muzzle your speech... I think i'll take a baby aspirin and take a little nap now.... leroy, the geezer who uses all words and considers all ideals and concepts no matter how heinous to some observers....1 point

Stumpy & Clod Stomper, deep down inside, something was telling me to just leave well enough alone. Or as my sweet little granny used to say. "Let a sleeping dog lie". She was a wise lady...born in the late 1800s, and I respected her advice. Likewise, I respect you guys advice, and have decided to just leave all of my 22 Hornets as they are. Clod Stomper, I'm glad you got your granddad's gun. I have my granddad's old J.C. Higgins Model 20, 12 gauge, pump gun in my closet. he was born in 1882 and taught me a lot about hunting, and life in general. Thank you guys for your good advice. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to respond...somehow, I lost the post.1 point

He desperately wants the Police to detain him. As Gallatin PD showed him, that will continue to happen. I don’t know why some cops seem to fear telling him, yes, he is being detained, and no, he is not free to leave. He is known to the cops, he has had his HCP pulled as a potential danger to the public, and he is carrying a rifle. Short of being an active shooter probable cause doesn’t get much better. He obviously has mental issues, I would guess he will either push this to the point of obstruction/resisting or he will end up being involuntarily taken into the mental health system.1 point

He did it at Vanderbilt also. I would like to thank the Gallatin PD for not backing down from a nut case carrying a gun and checking him for ammo. Unfortunately he backed down the Vanderbilt guy. Apparently Tennessee doesn’t have a law against yelling obscenities in public?1 point

Only my second time finishing/staining furniture of any kind and the first time ever on a gun stock. But I've been working on/off for about 2 months on this stock set trying to recreate the color tones of SVD furniture for my Vepr-nov build and finally finished her tonight. I spent tons of time researching the colors of original russian SVD furniture and they really seem to run the gambit of color pallet. It can be orange-ish, honey brown, or even a little reddish brown. In the end I went with a iodine/acetone undercoat to get that orangish glow and to pop the grain on the tiger maple. Then I layed on a heavy coat of minwax red mahogany which took weeks to dry completely. Then 3 coats of satin polyurethane. The stock set itself(Rhineland Arms) had no fitment issues but I did have to trim up the slots in the handguard. The forward retaining screw in the tang did sit a little high after being fully tightened and required me to do some hand fitting/filing with the recoil rod assembly. Rhineland ships you a test block of wood cut from the same lumber as your stock set so that you can experiment with stains, etc. I tried all kinds of formulas and recipes all over the net but in the end the combo listed above seemed to produce the best results. Anyways - here she is...1 point
