Looking back I should have walked in on my crutches and let him settle it. I don't care what kind of day you are having if you are tainting customers and calling them names you should not be in contact with those customers. There are consequences, Karma, for being an ass.9 points

An Ellisville school teacher called the local phone company to report her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions, when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile lady. He climbed a telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned and the telephone began to ring. Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found: 1 . The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire with a steel chain and collar. 2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose. 3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the number was called. 4. After a couple of jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate. 5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring. Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning. Thought you'd like to know.5 points

If you can't afford to save, then you AREN'T living within your means no matter how much you think you are. The reality is that most folks don't have as much means as they think they do. As far as social security goes, just because person A stole from person B, it doesn't justify person B stealing from person C.4 points

Sometimes it's best to just let it go. This is something I am still working on myself, but I think it'll extend our lives to not get our blood pressure up about small things. I feel ya, though.4 points

So... you're saying that $15/hr may be a little much to pay the BK and Walmart crowd as a minimum? :) You can have cheap, fast, and good, but you can't have all 3.4 points

Saw this coming from a mile way. Was planning on placing my resignation on Thursday to give them two weeks to hire a semi decent replacement. Well they beat me to the punch. Where not too happy when I outline the faults with the management and the awful record of employment selection. But now they have their wish with getting rid of the last original. Good thing I have another opportunity lined up, and am grateful for it. But I cannot wait to walk in there tomorrow, drop off my shirts and walk out with my binder full of sales leads and plans. And when they ask me "whats in there and what are you taking", I will tell new the "manager" my sales and customers that will not be going to your store. Oddly enough. I feel great. I never said no, covered shifts at locations that where over 100 miles round trip and havent had a vacation in three years. Hell, I will go shooting tomorrow to celebrate. And enjoy my last day of fall break.2 points

If you're working full time and unable to save, you're not living within your means. Sorry. I agree, we should help folks who fall on though times; when we choose to, and not through the government. The .gov stealing my money through the tax system to give it to someone else is not helping the less fortunate, it is theft. Help should be (and is) available to people through a large variety of charities that rely on voluntary donations from people, and a lot of those donations would be a lot larger if we weren't already forced to 'give' to the less fortunate by way of government thuggery. By my logic, folks on SS are leaches because they depend on the government to retire. Yes. That is correct. I'm sorry you chose not to save money or decided to quit working at 60 years old, but it's not my job/ duty/ obligation to support you for a decision you made just like I didn't expect anyone to come swooping to my rescue when I quit my job. I really wouldn't feel bad at all if the government stopped sending out checks to everyone other than employees who actually show up and work tomorrow; and those employees should get nervous because a large portion of the beuracracy would be unnecessary with no more entitlement programs. "Oh, but what about the so-and-so group who depend on those checks?" Private charities will fill the gap. Will it ever happen? Nope. Not a chance. Too many people are too comfortable with big daddy government there to hold their hand, or they get scared when they see the hard times that will have to come before things can be fixed. We'll never see the US Federal government shrink down anywhere near what it truly should be, but just because it won't happen doesn't mean that it shouldn't.2 points

I spoke the company that manages that particular Burger King. They manage the BK as well as several other restaurant chains that are a much higher quality. The guy I spoke to even said that if it is remotely close to how I explained it the manager will not be there the next time you step foot in that burger king. He was very apologetic for what happened and said there is no excuse for a manager trying to taunt a customer to come inside or to call a customer stupid. He was going to have their store manager call me, it was an assistant manager who did this. The person I spoke with said they do not have audio on their phone systems when I asked them to check but he did say that there is video all over that store. He took the time we placed the order and assured me he was going to check the video. He said it will be obvious from his demeanor what happened as well as the fact there is at least one employee who will be willing to tell the truth with regards to what happened. Trust me when I say I will hold him to his word and will follow up to find out the final outcome.2 points

I have BK9 (Barking Dog) security. She isn't monitored but she sure is loud and I don't have to worry about power outages or wires being cut disabling her. She is a mixed breed but I think there must be some kind of hound in her woodpile as that is what her 'serious' bark often sounds like. As I indicated before, having monitored security wouldn't do me any good, anyhow and would probably just be a waste of money because, as the old saying goes, it would all be over but the crying by the time police could arrive, anyhow.2 points

I ALWAYS make sure I have my cell phone right next to me at night. Funny thing is the last time we had too call 911 my wife brought her cellphone to bed but forgot her glasses so she could not see to dial 911. Make sure you have everything you need right next to you and that you, and your family, have a plan. I have a plan and the final part of that plan involves patching hundreds of holes in the drywall if we have an intruder wanting to do us harm.2 points

You might want to check out the DMV in Clinton (Charles Seviers Blvd). I went there last year to renew my CDL. Try to go when school is in session so there is not a bunch of teenagers getting permits.1 point

Anyone who has met me or who has talked to me will say I am the nicest guy and go way out of my way to help people out. I am never looking for a fight, either verbal or physical. My phone call started with me asking for the assistant manager's boss. I was nice and polite until he said the only person I am going to talk to was him. And even then I did not cuss, yell or do anything other than ask for the number for his boss. Had he done nothing wrong he would have gave the number out willingly. But when I was unwilling to accept the fact he was not going to give me the number he began telling me to come inside to settle this and when that did not work he began the personal attacks by calling me stupid. I know a lot of people have reasons to have a bad day, I have plenty, but you will NEVER hear of me ever taunting people to fight or name calling.1 point

I really have thought long and hard why Buds opened a shop in that area, because the likely consumer that knows about Buds.com, is already a serious gun nut, and won't bite on the storefront guns due to the sales tax thing. Tourists passing through Sevierville or coming out the SMKW store, likely will stumbled upon the gun store because of the word "guns" in the name, not necessarily "Buds". Unless Buds is trying to become a destination spot which I think they are too small for that, I don't really understand their business decision to locate in that location and to have a super nice indoor range, unless this is a beta test store. Sevierville locals and that side of Knoxville is not well known for having large populations of large disposable income (I am from Sevierville, I know). It would have made better sense for Buds to have located next to Gander Mountain or somewhere similar to take advantage of the large disposable income in that area. Since likely the bread and butter of Buds will be that nice shooting range, they would surely have more participation from West Knoxvillians vs. Kodak citizens. Separately, I did read somewhere maybe in the SMKW product catalog that the owner of SMKW and the owner of Buds were best of buds (no pun intended) for a long time. This is likely the real reason, since both stores are in close proximity of each other.1 point

A bit surprising that he got in by breaking a window and didn't wake anyone up. I've got two young kids and I've been surprised by the relatively small noises that wake me up. Not to mention the dog that would be going completely bonkers.1 point

Nor is it automatically warranted. Sounds like the gentleman that started this thread has new employment lined up anyway and didn't plan on filing for unemployment. How sad is it that our society has been conditioned that if you lose your job you have to immediately jump at the chance for "free government money" and lawyer up if you think they'll make it difficult to get your handout? :(1 point

I have the CD version (Latin American Spanish), but have only made it through Lesson 1. I ended up having a pretty busy summer, so it put stuff on hold. It is a great program compared to another program I completed for another language years ago. Like anything, if you don't use it, you lose it. I had Spanish in high school and college, so going at it from this angle reactivated stuff in my brain which had been long forgotten. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Yes most sales oriented positions will restrict the removal of any documents, paper or electronic, by refusing you access till it's checked. Not saying that will happen, but it is a possibility.1 point

Glad you have a backup plan. A lot of people would be in trouble in the same situation. The most sage advice I ever received was "the best time to look for a job is when you have one," and it seems like you had that in mind. Just be careful with what you try to walk out with. A lot of places have it built into the employee agreement that whatever you do/develop/invent for the company or on the job is no longer your stuff but their property.1 point

I'm in agreement with TMF's post and likely would have done the same thing as the OP. Call me a hot-head if you want, but society has gotten to where it is because good people have been told not to turn the other cheek, but to cower in fear of society's turds, savages and primates.1 point

I think he would have a better chance getting the NFA pecked away at with SBR's and suppressors first by challenging with them as specific items. With the widespread use and sale of those two items, along with states that have no state level precondition to ownership, you could argue that the federal government has no legitimate need to regulate them as an NFA item, that it should be a states issue and the 10th Amendment applies. The current Supreme Court tends to like those kinds of limited rulings that aren't too overreaching and dramatic. We're probably a long ways away from having anything automatic being legal, even with this gun friendly Supreme Court.1 point
