  1. The Box Under Bill & Hillary's Bed   When Bill and Hillary first got married Bill said, "I am putting a box under the bed.   You must promise never to look in it." In all their 30 years of marriage, Hillary never looked. On the afternoon of their 30th anniversary, curiosity got the best of her and she lifted the lid and peeked inside. In the box were 3 empty beer cans and $8,874.25 in  cash. She closed the box and put it back under the bed. Now that she knew what was in the box, she was doubly curious as to why there even was such a box with such contents. That evening, they were out for a special anniversary dinner. After dinner, Hillary could no longer contain her curiosity and she confessed, saying, "I am so sorry, Bill.  For all these years, I kept my promise and never looked into the box under our bed. However, today the temptation was too much and I gave in. But now I need to know, why do you keep the 3 beer cans in the box?" Bill thought for a while and said, "I guess after all these years you deserve to know the truth. Whenever I was unfaithful to you, I put an empty beer can in the box under the bed to remind myself not to do it again." Hillary was shocked, but said, "Hmmm, Jennifer, Paula and Monica. I am very disappointed and saddened by your behavior. However, since you are addicted to sex I guess it does happen and I guess 3 times is not that bad considering your problem." Bill thanked her for being so understanding. They hugged and made their peace. A little while later Hillary asked Bill, "So why do you have all that money in the box?" Bill answered: "Well, whenever the box filled up with empty cans, I took them to the recycling center and redeemed them for cash."

  2. I have had a Gerber combat folder for a long time and the clip screws began to get lose and I lost one. So I quit using it. And then last week I found it setting on my self and thought I should try and get a set of screws for it to get it back in carrying mode. So I looked up  Gerber website and went to the service link and they asked for my info and the problem I had. At the end of the page it said someone would be getting in touch with me. Well in the mail box Friday was a small brown package with a new clip and six screws. No one ever sent me a email or called they just took care of the problem.    Thanks Gerber   Andy

  4. Alright I finally got something more to add. Now its nothin special, except fer the fact that I took 'em with my new to me 44 Mag. Vaquero. He came out of the woods about 50 to 60 yds. to my east, then turned and came right by me at about 20 yds. Well the 240gr. lfp & 10.5 grs. of unique knocked him right down.I think this is the same little fella that I gave a pass to last Sun. while I was huntin with my 35 Rem.

  8. I've installed many gun safes in homes and in garages, both detached and attached. Never once had a rust or corrosion issue in any of the safes. Always wipe all metal surfaces with a fresh silicone rag, or better yet with a light coat of Eezox before storing. Always use a dehumidifier rod inside the bottom of the safe, properly sized for the safe. Always install several desiccant bags, pouches, boxes, etc. that are properly sized for the safe, and recharge them at least once a year, or whenever the color-changing beads indicate. Avoid moisture absorbent fabrics, cloths, gun rags, cases, etc. Open the safe as little as possible, but if you must open it often then recharge the desiccant more often.

  9. Hello All, Figured since I have never posted here, but read for a couple of years now I would share my first build which happens to also be my first personal AR. It all started out around fathers day with a sale on a blemished FDE Hybrid TN Arms Company lower that I picked up for about the price of the FFL transfer. IT was originally planned as a bare bones, cheap as I could get AR build; with the plan being to buy a PSA rifle kit or something of that nature and building a rifle for $500-$600 and being done with it. Being right before fathers day I started looking at some of the online deals, which led me into picking up a 416 Stainless steel 1-8 twist 18" Barrel for a steal. This is considered a heavy weight barrel and is 18 inches so the rest of the rifle was built around that with a lean to hopefully shooting some three gun matches at some point with it. I also like to reach out and touch some stuff with this rifle if I can ever set back enough for a decent scope. Here are the parts currently. Lower Parts Lower Reciever - TN Arms Co, Hybrid lower Lower Parts Kit and Stock - PSA Armory Magpul MOE Upper Parts Upper Receiver- Aero Precision FDE Adjustable Gas Block Barrel Nut Rifle length gas tube Charging Handle - BCM Gunfighter MOD 4 Bolt and Bolt Carrier Group- Aim Surplus Barrel-18' medium contour Free Float 15" Troy Alpha Battlerail Hand machined 3 chamber brake Excuse the phone pictures. I eventually would like to put a harris bipod on it, Vortex PST 1-4, and need to grab a sling and case for it still. Ive put about 700 rounds through it over two range sessions and it amazes me how flat and smooth is it. The barrel, Brake, and adjustable gas block really take away any recoil out of my hand loaded rounds and its so fast to shoot. eventually I would also like to switch out the cheap lower parts kit trigger for a proper drop in, Im thinking CMC 3.5lb flat trigger or a giessele something or another.

  10. Im glad to see im not the only one. The way I look at it, if I miss a shot its not going to be the barrel that was the limiting factor. The gas block is from Battle Tested Equipment. It was their Set screw mounted micro adjustable I believe.

  11. Took this little guy yesterday with a Ruger Vaquero 44 mag. 4.62 barrel at 20yds. Load was a 240gr. lead fp and 10.5 grs of unique. One shot right behind the front shoulder, a complete pass through. Have also used a Scoped SBH 44mag. and a 41 mag BH. the SBH I had for a few yrs. bought it with the scope already on it for $450, the 41 BH I bought before that not sure what I piad for it, but I'd say around $400, the Vaquero pictured here I just picked up about a month ago for $536 OTD.

  12. Yup, I've got a barrel that cost the better part of $300 and some that were less than $80. I manage to suck equally bad with both of them. ;)

  13. I'd just about guarantee nobody here would badmouth another man's gun over what brand of barrel he uses, but I have seen that attitude on another forum, which I will not name, that is dedicated to AR15 rifles. I asked because you said you had good results with yours. If I were looking to build an 18" AR, I'd wouldn't turn my nose up at a DPMS barrel. I can't shoot good enough to warrant spending big money on a barrel. I prefer to spend my money on making the gun comfortable for my purposes and learning how to shoot it as best I can.

  14. I would go with a super blackhawk or Redhawk or the s&w. Remember if you do use the gun for bear or hog and you have the t/c you will have to reload for a follow up shot if needed, instead of just pulling the trigger again. Just something else to consider ;)

  16. You won't typically get much blood at all when you hit around the spine even if you're using a larger caliber. If you get a pass through around the vitals, you will almost always get blood..... Eventually. The higher up the shot, the longer it will take because the body cavity has to start filling up with blood so that it can start spurting out as they run. Widening half moon passes will usually net you a successful tracking. I find hitting lower in the vitals with a small caliber (.223-.243) to be best because blood hits the ground quicker. That being said shooting stray into the shoulder will break them down very quickly but usually ruins what little meat there is in the shoulders. A neck shot in the first 8" of neck from the base of the skull will almost always drop them in their tracks even with a small caliber. By the time Florida's deer season is over I will likely reach or pass the 100 deer killed mark and 75% of those were with a .243. I have used these shots many times so I'm not just guessing, this seems to be how it worked out almost every time. There will always be an exception though I guess.

  17. Ok, guys. I am glad to report that most of hearing is back on the left side! The ringing is still there, but I am glad to be able to hear out of the left side again. I'm not shooting without protection ever again lol!

  18. Not going to single out a particular person or event here in this posting. But I am continually amazed at the TGO membership. The outpouring of sympathy, prayers and offers of aid in times of sorrow and need is sometimes beyond my abilities to fathom. In the times of "me" and all the attempts to secularize the world and all its people; I can come here and see and be reminded that we are not alone. I have seen evidence here of the values that the world at large seems lacking in. I have seen people offer time and money to others repeatedly, with no expectation of recompense. Just being able to help those who need some type of assistance. Any request is almost instantly responded to and generally fulfilled; be it life threatening circumstances, a request for aid in a project, or for prayers and support in a time of crisis. We have each other in all times and circumstances. This truly is a welcoming and caring community of brothers and sisters. When I first became involved here...I really could have used some of the support I so freely given here. But I was reluctant to involve strangers in my troubles...so I just went along without commenting. My mistake and loss. Some of the friends I've since made here would have been of great comfort then. Just having a voice not so closely involved would have been great. But I didn't. But I'm here, I came thru it all. lol I guess that's evident. Thru the prayers and support of my wife and my mother and family, co-workers, doctors and care givers, and of course, the Power of Our Lord; I survived. I really didn't expect to do so. I am still amazed at it. I still wonder why. Daily. Maybe to give my pitiful tale in offering to give someone else hope. Maybe I'll help a person and influence their life a good and constructive way. In any event, the additional support I could have gotten here would have been more than welcome. I guess what I'm trying to say is a great big "Thank You" to all here for the generosity of spirit that I see exhibited on an almost daily basis is nothing short of amazing. God Bless to all, and a Merry Christmas!

Tennessee 3 Gun Series (TN3GS) is being started as a way to bring Tennessee and surrounding states shooters together in competition.  By networking a number of Tennessee MultiGun programs we aim to create an environment to bring all  shooters from Tennessee and surrounding states together.   Currently more information is available on the facebook page and we will roll out the new website in approximately a week.   https://www.facebook.com/groups/398102267005604/members/

  28. I protect my ears with silencers now.   I have fired M2 machine guns, 50 BMG, without hearing protection. I also had a ZU-23 fire several long bursts about 10 feet from me without hearing protection. I have also had rockets explode close as well as being close to RPGs firing and those events caused my ears to ring. But I do not believe any of those did a lot of the damage because they were not long term exposure. For me it was years of firing an M60, and M16's, without hearing protection. Tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of rounds over the course of 8 years is what probably did most of the damage.   But the most painful gun I have EVER been around was a shorty AR being shot under a tin roof. That was extremely painful and that did screw with my equilibrium like the bigger calibers.   I have to have noise or it does get bothersome.

  30. Well I finished it yesterday. It's 1/8" thick 1095 carbon steel with a RC 60. The blade is ground very thin....good for a skinning knife I reckon. I etched it in Super Blue and bleach first to obtain the pitting and and generally the "damn that knife looks old look". When it comes out of 3 hours of the bleach it has about 1/8" of an inch of rust on it. It looks likes it's been rusting in a barn for 50 years. The you have to clean it all off and sand it smooth and when you get it where you want it I dipped into my regular etching solution for about 8 minutes and it turns it all black. Then you have to clean it off again and sand it again. I sanded the blade to 800 grit. You can see how shiny it actually came out. The blade grind is smooth as a baby's butt. Then a final sharpening and installed the handles and coated them with a coat of linseed oil and burnished them with leather.

  31. A great Point and solid truth. No where does it say this life is free from risk or danger. If we went by the death and injury numbers, you might as well confiscate everyone's car. No chainsaws, sports, stairs, no swimming, and dang, for sure no alcohol.

  32. Just received my Secret Santa package. Santa brought me a first responders bag, along with a Gerber knife. The bag couldn't have come at a much better time, because I was about to order something to use as a first-aid bag for the truck. And the knife, well, you can never have too many knives. It will definitely be put to good use. Santa, Thank you very much. Your gifts to me are greatly appreciated. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you, again.

  33. I have used Ruger Super BlackHawk and Super Redhawk in 44 Mag. to hunt deer. The Super Redhawk comes with rings to fit top of barrel. Super Blackhawk, I use without scope. Both had 7.5" barrel.

  34. And what happens when the "slippery slope" takes effect? All it takes is an activist doctor colluding with an activist judge. You can't say that it won't happen since special interest groups judge shop all of the time.   Irony: It's illegal to doctor shop but legal to judge shop. The former pretty much effects the individual whereas the latter effects pretty much everyone.

  39. My safe is around 900 lbs and it is inside on my floor with no issues.  A lot depends on where in your house you want it and what kind of support is under it.   Can you add support under where you want it as well?   Moisture is a safe's #1 enemy in my opinion.  I would put two safes inside before I put one big one in an uncontrolled climate.
