I received my gift today and words cannot express how much I appreciate the lengths my Secret Santa, and his helper, went through to find me a perfect gift. I was honestly at a loss for words upon reading the letter. Caring enough to to do what you did on my behalf is humbling. I am sure it was not easy to find me the perfect gift but you did and I truly appreciate it more than words can say. And I can honestly say that anyone who would do what you guys did, and give me the gift you did, is a true friend. I want you guys to know that if there is ever anything you need please feel free to ask. And for those of you who are wondering what my Secret Santa gave me, they gave me money. But what they gave me was more than just money. They also wrote a heartfelt letter, that made this gift very, very personal. And cash allows me to buy the perfect gift which, in the end, is all my, or any, Secret Santa wants for the person getting the gift. In closing I would like to say thanks. Thanks to my Secret Santa for giving me the perfect gift and a personal letter. I would like to say thanks to Metalhead for putting this on. I would also like to thank TGO David for providing us with a place for our TGO family to come together, share our lives , our stories as well as the highs, and the lows, with other members of our TGO family.10 points

My Secret Santa did very well this year! Plastic Ammo Can Box of 12 Game Load Box of Hornady 9mm Pocket Knife Earplugs Space Blanket (I love these) CRKT Eat'N Tool Something I have never heard of called .22lr. It seems to be ammo, but it is small so I doubt it will ever truly catch on;)5 points

I have been looking for a Bersa Plus for quite some time and this is a Bersa Plus 380 Caliber but it is the original Bersa model 85. It was made before they began calling them Thunders. It is the original version of the Plus offered now. I really love this gun. I got to shot it back about 4 months ago but my buddy didn't want to part with it but decided he would trade it for another gun I had. Even swap.......  3 points

I find it weird that if you tell a cop you have a dead body, child, Adult or 3 month old fetus in your trunk they would just let you go. Pretty sure if I said that my vehicle would be searched.2 points

Nothing compares to a 1911. And beyond that, regardless of what some say, there IS just "something" when it's a Colt. Some feel it's better, some don't, some feel the history, some don't care, some just want the pony... Congratulations.2 points

From my secret santa I got a sweet primary arms shooting mat and 200 rounds of 22lr! I used the mat this morning to keep the dew/frost off! Untitled by systemdelete, on Flickr2 points

I have heard of many people being shot in the head and not stopped. You can stop a bad guy really quick with a 22lr caliber if you know where to put the bullets. I had a buddy's wife get approached by two bad guys in the Rivergate Mall Parking lot on night. She wheeled around with her 22 Cal pistol and pointed it at them. They said you won't shoot and began towards her and she put to fast rounds in the groin area of the first one and he went down fast rolling in pain and screaming. The second one broke and ran. He husband told her where to shoot and took her out with a shooting dummy and she practiced to where at about 15 feet she was dead on. Bullet placement is priority 1 in my mind..........................jmho2 points

As if Russian roulette could not be any more stupid, this sap had a "friend" pull the trigger. BUT...... Read the last line. http://www.elkharttruth.com/news/indiana/2014/12/10/35-years-for-Indiana-man-in-Russian-roulette-death.html1 point

Oh shoot you are closer than what I had, I just searched and the figure was 6 million, so to all that read my previous post just double that. So the number of rounds shot would be 3.3 billion and production at 1 million per day that would be 3,300 days or 9.04 years. I checked and Marlin 60 has sold 11 million, boy howdy, just those 2 models of guns would take the manufacturers a while to keep up. I won't bore you with the numbers, but just think of all the people that shoot more than 550 rounds per year.1 point

As I should have mentioned, the highway men photographed WITH hank jr. Sorry for the confusion. And yes have spent time w hj talking guns n more. Was inspired to post that cause I was missing good music...1 point

I think it is a great gesture and it is different but as I have been seeing this year for some reason people are really looking more in the Christmas Spirit than in the past several years. I am hearing a lot more people saying Merry Christmas rather than Happy Holidays. Either one is great to hear but I grew up with it being Merry Christmas & Happy New Years................. :up:1 point

It's about freaking time!!! Congratulations. I really like my G19, but then there's the Shield. Both great. Both impressed me from the first shot. Do we really have to choose? I introduced a guy to my Shield this morning as I sold him a pistol. It was almost a mistake. LOL He like it so much he almost backed out to go looking for one. Moral...don't show your Shield to someone while selling.1 point

Well there's only one way to find out what he would like to do, show up and shoot. GGC is shooting IDPA this weekend, a safe working gun, 3 mags but 2 will do, and holsters for both. I'm sure that if he can line up the sights on a rifle, the handgun will be no problem. The people in this community are always willing to help and give advice. Going to be a super nice weekend so come and play the game.1 point

The only top end 1911 that I've shot is my Ed Brown Kobra Karry. Some will argue lessor is just as good for functionality; others won't. I feel a difference between my Ed Brown and various Colts & Ithacas that I've shot just as I feel a difference between my Cadillac and other vehicles that I've ridden in. The difference is not in shot placement per se, (I'm not THAT good), but in the feel and comfort with the weapon. I feel it in the mechanics of firing and mechanical operation of the weapon. It my be physical, psychological, or both, but nevertheless it's still present. I am comfortable with my Ed Brown whereas others are comfortable with their ______. Ultimately, it's a decision that you should be the only one requiring comfort with.1 point

I've never had a problem with HH Greg. I've bought from them more than once, but not exclusively. I'd prefer to find a salesperson when I need one than to have one follow me around the store.1 point

Get as long a barrel as you don't mind carrying. They aren't more accurate per se, but will give higher velocities, and the longer sight radius is an aid to better aiming, which will help the shooter attain better accuracy if using factory sights, Mine is a 4-5/8", but it gets carried more than shot. Bottom line: shorter barrel=easier carrying, longer barrel=more feet per second and a longer sight radius.1 point

Ok, that target is close, but without trying to pick nits it also is inaccurate. Again, without getting into 3d, angles, caliber etc. The place to aim is the sternum notch, which is the place where both sides of the ribs meet in the middle. Here is what we train with, this, one is the one in color which we use to see the target area. In the shoot house, its more subdued so you have to be close up to see the area hit. The red portion is a hv target area for rifle, get hit there and its bad news, but as you can see there are other target areas. In your graphic, I would aim just below the 9 but above the x. The problem with those type targets is that the human anatomy does not quite allow an equal distance between rings which gives you what you see. But if you look at the other one, it would still do alot of damage in the 10 ring. You can also see what you would hit in the pelvic area if you are so inclined. More and more we are going with 3d targets because when you turn it to different angles, you need a different POA to get the same effect.1 point

I predict the gougers can create this false scarcity for quite some time. Their margins may begin to fall but when you can buy something for a mere 25.00 and sell it for 40, 50+ it still beats most investments and only costs some time waiting in a line. I won't do it. Out of pure dumb luck I scored a bucket of Goldens for less than 60 bucks a couple of weeks ago. I traded it to a young cop friend of mine who has a son who likes to shoot for a breakfast at Shoney's. He got a good deal for 8 bucks.1 point

You guys are blaming PSA for the great deal, not me for sharing the link when you have to explain the purchase to your wives, right? I don't want to have to check my truck for booby traps every time I go out. :P1 point

That frame would probably look ugly on any gun. It will probably sell with the competition shooters...1 point

There is also a redundant lock available for around $200 that features both a manual dial and an electronic keypad. You can use the elock for day to day use and the dial if the elock were to fail. We can usually swap this one with most factory installed locks. Also, if you ever find yourself locked out of a safe of any type, we offer professional safecracking services for residential and commercial safes and vault doors AND when we're done, the safe is still serviceable and there's virtually no sign that it was cracked.1 point

Got my gift today! It's a waterproof shaving kit bag that's actually made from recycled fire hose. Can't say I've ever seen one of these before, and my mind goes crazy as to what else you could put in this bag. Definitely a unique and awesome gift! Thanks secret Santa! I wish I knew what your screen name was, but I do know your name is Matt!1 point

The entire infrastructure of this country is on the verge of collapse. Power grids, roads, bridges and water supply. It seems congess would rather waste our tax dollars on worthless government programs and sending billions each year to countries that hate us. All the Chinese have to do is wait.1 point

Its hereeeeee! Received a notice yesterday it shipped 2nd day, and the tracking number said it would be here Monday. Oh well! Today at lunch, just checked the delivery number again, and WOW, it was out for delivery to my LGS. After work, swung by, and yep it was there. Paid the transfer and TICS, and yep I am now a proud member of the 1911 club, I plan to shoot it next week. Less than 96 hours after I pressed enter on the computer and now its in my possession. Now to fill out the rebate papers for the $100 and I will then have ~$634 OTD price. That was a good deal, I think. Here are some pics. Congratulations!! I think you made a really good choice and am confident you'll be pleased. "Entry level"? I don't know what that's supposed to mean. I suppose it means someone else spent more money on theirs and got more bells and whistles. The armed forces used their entry level 1911s a lot of years. Hope you, your kids, and your grandkids enjoy that gun.1 point

You should be warned - The 1911 is highly addictive! After shooting it, you will always see another 1911 that you must have. You will need a larger safe and reloading equipment in the future.1 point

No freezing for me. I'm certain ice forms, but they have never frozen solid nor split. Mine are originally blue food grade barrels and I drilled and fit brass spigots. They don't even leak at the spigots...1 point
