I have the utmost respect for Lowes even though they may not be able to enforce it and they are not being forced by any courts to do this they have stepped up to the plate once again for our Military Veterans. I am disabled and have a license plate that states it on my Jeep but there is times that I opt out of taking a space in case a person in worse shape than I might need the space. I did get upset one day up at Krogers as I was looking for a parking space and I passed up a handicap space because not to far behind me was a little older lady with a plaque so I opted to let he have it and before she could get in it a guy coming up from the other way pulled into the space and had to back up twice to get straight in it. I had parked and he was just getting out of his vehicle and I watched him get his plaque out of his console and just pitch it up on the dash board and not even hang it on the mirror. I entioned to him that it does not count unless it is on your mirror and his reply was what ever and he walked away. I walked to the front of his vehicle to get a look at the Plaque and sure enough it was expired by 2 years. Well being the law abiding person I am I proceeded to dial the non emergency police phone number and requested if they could send a patrol car to the Kroger parking lot and just my luck there was one pulling in off hwy31 and he got the call and I waved him down. I explained exactly what happened and his attitude. The officer ask me to step back away into the lot a little and I did. He walked up and read the plaque information and went back and sat in his car and ran the tags and plaque information. He than sat and waited for the vehicle owner to arrive and a second squad car showed up and parked near the first one. The guy comes out and just about the time he reaches his vehicle he pushes the alarm and unlock switch. I hope he didn't buy Ice cream while in the store. You ready for this. They arrested this guy. He had 9 outstanding warrants for traffic tickets, the plaque he was using was reported stolen 2.5 years earlier and the officers found 3 more plaques in his console. All had been reported stolen, the latest one only 1.5 month earlier. He never saw me but I have a pretty good guess he knows how he got caught. He was not even from around Gallatin. He lived in Waverly Tennessee but they had his vehicle towed. Yea, I know, I'm a trouble maker but he should not have cut that little lady off and took the space and had an attitude. This happened about 3 years ago or better but I was reminded of it from this thread. The officer thanked me for being an upstanding person and reporting the violation. He also said that he wished the would find another way to provide handicap parking permits. He said a sticker that could be displayed on the rear window was being discussed but evidently it didn't go anywhere.6 points

Find it quite refreshing from being called " baby killers" to being given a little respect at Lowes.3 points

Ok, TTAG wrote up an article covering this case and included some very vital information that was left out of the Prince Law article. https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2018/11/daniel-zimmerman/atf-suffers-rare-court-loss-in-ohio-short-barrel-rifle-prosecution/ Here are some key points: Toledo police responded to a domestic disturbance call in March at the home of Kelland and Christina Wright. Mr. Wright, a Marine veteran, allegedly threw a cell phone at his wife and was arrested. As a part of an arrest for a domestic violence complaint, police confiscated all firearms in the home, including an AR pistol equipped with the Maxim cheek rest. When the gun was subsequently examined by the ATF, they deemed it an unregistered short barrel rifle (SBR). That determination was based on the fact that, according to the ATF’s measurements, the Maxim cheek rest — which had been altered with the addition of a rubber “cane tip” on the end — resulted in a length of pull that’s greater than the 13.5-inch limit the ATF says is the maximum for any similar AR pistol accessory. Wright had apparently added the cane tip to keep the gun upright when stored in his safe. Prosecutors argued that was an illegal alteration to the gun. As a result, Wright was charged with possession of an unregistered short barrel rifle, a felony. There were a couple of problems with the caseagainst Wright, however. First, the ATF has never issued an official public opinion letter stating that AR pistols with such accessories— cheek rests, pistol braces, etc. — must have a length of pull of no more than 13.5 inches to avoid being considered an SBR. The ATF had communicated that fact to various manufacturers in private opinion letters concerning their specific products over the years (and some of those companies have chosen to make those letters public), but nothing has ever been communicated to the general gun-buying public by the agency. As a result, the defense argued that Wright had no reasonable way of knowing about the 13.5-inch length of pull limit. There’s a Supreme Court precedent in Staples v. United States that found a gun owner has to knowthat his firearm has characteristics that bring it under NFA regulation to be guilty of a crime. Regarding the ATF asking to seal documents: The Prince post also mentioned that the ATF asked for and was granted an order sealing a number of documents used in the case. As a part of their defense, Wright’s attorneys used a selection of those opinion letters the ATF had issued to manufacturers in connection with specific products under consideration. The ATF argued against releasing those for use by the defense in the trial, but lost that fight. The ATF then, reasonably enough, sought to have those letters sealed and not included in the public record of the trial because they contained potentially sensitive competitive information concerning the companies involved…not because they were trying to hide any internal ATF decision-making from the public. Those documents were never intended for public disclosure unless the companies themselves decided to release them. And for the final coup de grace, the defendant was represented by a public defender. So he didn’t owe a dime for his defense. I just want to repeat, the ATF had their asses handed to them by a PD.3 points

The old Gallatin Gun Club is now the Middle Tennessee Sporting Association. We have a new location that we own and invite you to join as member of the range. We will have a 30+ bench rifle shed for 100-400 yard ranges, 2 trap stations and starting with 5 pistol bays. All the ranges are separated from each other with no overlap. Rifle ranges are on schedule to be completed by December 2018 with completion of the pistol bays and trap ranges by spring of 2019. IDPA, USPSA, 3-gun, ATA, high power, small bore and bench rest chair persons are planning events. These events will be slow starting at first because of ongoing construction. Stay tune for developments. We are planning on range improvements and adding new facilities in coming years as we grow. Oh yes, an Archery range is also in the works. Dues are a $200 one time application fee and $200 the first time then $200 per year after that. We have open spots, join with us as we grow. NRA membership is required alone with a clean record. ( It is a gun range after all) Contact Shawn Dorris at 615-452-5894 or shawndorris@comcast.net Mailing address is Middle Tennessee Sporting Association, PO Box 8846, Gallatin TN 37066 Range address is 319 Dry Branch RD, Dixon Springs TN 37057. This is just off highway 10 south of Layette TN.1 point

In 1975, Saturday Night Live (SNL), a topical comedy sketch show featuring Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin and Laraine Newman, makes its debut on NBC; it will go on to become the longest-running, highest-rated show on late-night television. The 90-minute program, which from its inception has been broadcast live from Studio 8H in the GE Building at Rockefeller Center, includes a different guest host and musical act each week. The opening sketch of each show ends with one actor saying, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!” Created by the Canadian-born comedy writer Lorne Michaels, SNL has introduced a long list of memorable characters and catchphrases—from Gilda Radner’s Roseanne Roseannada, to the Coneheads, to Billy Crystal’s Fernando (“You look mahvelous”), to Dana Carvey’s Church Lady (“Isn’t that special?”), to bodybuilders Hans and Franz (“We’re going to pump you up”), to Coffee Talkhost Linda Richman (“like buttah” and “I’m all verklempt”)—that have become part of pop-culture history. The show, whose cast has changed continually over the years, has also launched the careers of such performers as Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade, Jon Lovitz, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tina Fey. Some SNL sketches have even been turned into feature films, the two most successful examples being 1980’s The Blues Brothers and 1992’s Wayne’s World. The show was originally known as NBC’s Saturday Night because there was another show on ABC called Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell. However, NBC eventually purchased the naming rights, and since 1977 the edgy comedy program has been called Saturday Night Live. Lorne Michaels served as the show’s producer from 1975 to 1980, followed by Jean Doumanian from 1980 to 1981. Dick Ebersol helmed the show from 1981 to 1985. Michaels returned to the program that year, and has remained executive producer ever since.1 point

Saw this on the USCCA site. Lots of good information as you burrow down. Just click on the state you have a carry permit from to start. https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/ccw-reciprocity-map/1 point

I got to see a B17 in flight and got to see it land and take off. They flew one into Nashville when they had the grand opening of that new big runway back years ago. It was a sight to see it for sure.1 point

I use the Lowes in Lebanon, haven't noticed a Vets parking but really haven't paid attention either. I'll check the next time I go. I'm Retired Army + disabled Vet as well. Haven't gotten a placard as yet. There are times it would help, times I really don't need it. I do get the 10% discount, which helps, especially on large items. Kinda wipes out the sales tax + a little more. On a fixed income, every little bit helps.1 point

In this case, I agree, but that isn't always feasible. SWAT takes time to assemble, so some departments only call them in for higher risk situations. They may have not considered him dangerous, at least not so dangerous that SWAT was necessary.1 point

Before I got a P938, my LCP got much more carry time. However there are times when if I didn't have the LCP I would be unarmed.1 point

The jury box is the box for defending liberty most often ignored yet also the one that can have the most immediate impact. Before judging guilt or innocence, one should judge the law first.1 point

Correct. No one has yet been charged by their use of an unmodified brace as supplied by the manufacturer. Even the Freedom Shoppe extreme anomaly regarding the braces with a folding mechanism and VFG was a matter of ceasing their sale and confiscation from both the store and owners, but no arrests. - OS1 point

Is the cost estimate for Vetsulin, which is a veterinary-specific insulin? It is also a 40 Unit insulin rather than a 100 Unit insulin. So if it is a 10 ml bottle of Vetsulin, then a dog getting 18 Units twice a day would go through that bottle really quickly (11 days). If it is a 100 Unit per ml human insulin, there are more choices, but they may not work as well. The two types of human insulin I have used are both NPH insulin. The two brands are Humulin N and Novolin N, the latter being the cheaper option at Wal-Mart. In general, in an average diabetic dog, Vetsulin tends to work better in both terms of potency and duration of action. Occasionally a dog can take Vetsulin once a day, but the majority of patients take it twice a day. I have never seen a dog take NPH insulin once a day and be controlled. Some dogs can do fine to adequate on the NPH insulin, but I would only use those if cost created a decision of any treatment vs. no treatment. Dogs get the type of diabetes that requires insulin, so diet and weight loss helps control the blood sugar, but they generally always require insulin. Other things to consider are that the starting dose is not necessarily the dose that the dog will be on for life. We usually start low and work up to the final dose using glucose curve to guide the dose change. Also, other causes of inflammation, such as dental disease or urinary tract infections, will affect the ability to control diabetes. One last thing--all diabetic dogs get cataracts eventually, no matter how well the diabetes is controlled.1 point

Yes. Multifactor authentication. Basically, this is the process where you need an app or a device (like a phone) each time you log in from a new device. It means that to log in, you need something you have (the device) in addition to something you know (the password). This protects you in a couple of ways. First, since most of America uses the same password everywhere - if your password is compromised somewhere else, they can't simply log in. Second, since people routinely fall for phishing messages and expose their password - again, you prevent the malicious actor from being able to log in. They might have your username/password, but they need your device to log in from Nigeria or Bulgaria or wherever. I really cannot recommend it enough for your mail, your financial accounts, and your social media.1 point

Sell em and get a Glock 43. Most handguns suck at being manstoppers, but .380s are especially lousy. Unless you are 5’3/112 lbs, you can hide the 43 just about anywhere you can hide a .380.1 point
