  1. For the past few years, we have used Amazon's AWS S3 storage for file attachments, profile photos, etc. I am in the process of pulling that data back onto TGO's own web server for a variety of reasons. While these tasks run in the background, you may notice that some photos and file attachments don't work for a few moments. They will resume working properly as each file moves over. This does several things for us: 1.) It removes a dependency on a hosting platform that has proven it will cut you off at a moment's notice if they do not approve of your content. 2.) It strengthens our SSL encryption a little by keeping all content served up from one server. 3.) It gives me some options if I want to move us to a different software package. Before you freak out about that third bullet, I am not actively pursuing that but I am always watching to see what advancements other platforms are making.

  3. I would gladly of went to MOPP4 in the case of Ebola, and would have followed many of the CDC's guidelines this time if not for the blatant lies we are being force fed. I am still waiting for the HAZMAT collection points for all these CCP virus contaminated masks many are forced to use. If it is dangerous enough to mandate masks, then it is dangerous enough to mandate special handling of contaminated material. NY and some other leftists states are already jumping at the bit to reopen, what has changed in the last few weeks that reopening is now ok? Yea, rhetorical, I know what has changed.

  4. I'm just glad that we're all dealing with COVID-19 and not Ebola. I don't think our society would survive something like Ebola given how many people still seem willing to ignore the recommendations of medical scientists despite 11-months worth of consequences being on display for everyone to see with their own two eyes.

  7. A word on the QAnon folks right now - specifically with what we've learned about getting folks out of cults: If you know anyone who has gone down this rabbit hole - their world is falling apart right now. Yes, it makes zero sense. It's based in emotion more than reality. But it's real to them right now - and their world is upside down. If you know someone who's into this - they've probably alienated themselves a lot over the last year. You probably don't want to deal with them. But, if there are people you care about - this afternoon, today, and tomorrow represent critical opportunities to help them get out. And, it's through relationships that they once cared about that will offer a path out. It's worth reaching out to them. Be kind. Lead with emotional connection. It sounds weird, but facts have nothing to do with cults. They're looking for what to do next right now - and you can open the door to what's next. Not everyone will take it - but there are people we deeply care about who are hurting - and some of them might.

  9. So, this was an itch better left unscratched. I should have just trusted in the wisdom of the TGO, but I really liked the pistol. I really wanted the Mosquito Sport to be a deal, but it was a dud. I took it to the range and tried several different brands and types of ammo. It did not like the Remington HP, CCI HP, CCI Standard Velocity, or the Federal target. I tried both recoil springs. It would missfire, fail to eject, stove pipe, fail to feed, etc. When it did shoot, it was very nice, felt great, but I don’t think I was able to shoot an entire mag without a problem. For the Federal, I had to rack the slide every time to shoot. So, I welcome the “I told you so” comments. I should have listened. If you have one and it works well, I’m a little jealous. I do want to give props to Music City Pawn in Nashville. I use them for my FFL, but this was my first purchase from them. They told me I had 48 hours to check it out and return it. I took it home, gave it a good cleaning and then took it to the range (with the above results). They took it back no questions asked. If you want a good inexpensive FFL, I recommend. They only charge $25 plus the $10 background.

  10. Pretty pitiful...a lot of those people had gone down that insane Q rabbit hole. I was a fly on the wall of a Q group for awhile the amount of BS is incredible and its like trying to tell a 3yr old Santa doesn't exist when you point out all the inconsistencies and the changing timelines and the dates of "big events" that never happen....reminds me a lot of scientology actually. I think a lot of people bored and unfulfilled by daily life find conspiracies to give them some feeling of belonging to an in crowd and a big idea. They would be better served playing video games, learning a new life skill, hobby, or contributing their time to charity.

  13. I wear pretty much whatever my wife brings home in my size. She is cheap, so I'm sure none cost more than $20. Some of the best ones were from second hand stores and GoodWIll. She is also really good at patching my old ones.

  17. If you look at a picture of my father - particularly in the summer - you would instantly think American Indian. He has black hair, high cheekbones, and would get dark brown in just a few exposures to a spring sun. My father is from Oklahoma and told us that his grandmother was a runaway from the Indian Nation at the age of 12. As I get older, my sisters tell me that I look just like him but only in a pasty white version. My mother is reportedly from a Irish/Scottish heritage mainly from the Craig Clan in Scotland. My great-grandmother's name was Craig. My sir name is very much so English. As far as the genetic testing sites are concerned, I took a DNA test from what was supposedly the best rated testing orgs: CRI Genetics. They do a scrape of the inside of your mouth rather than a spit. What did the DNA test show? Zero % American Indian and mostly German/French and even a little Jewish. I'm sure that some will think that I am adopted: however, my oldest sister is 6 years older than I, and she vividly remembers mom being pregnant with me and visiting me at the hospital to see her scrawny, red-faced brother right after my birth. As far as I'm concerned the DNA testing is a scam.

  18. In the past 48 hours I have learned that the outlaw Jesse James is a distant relative. My dad had heard this as a kid but wasn't sure if it was actually true so I searched for him in that website and it confirmed it. I've also learned that my 9th great granduncle came over on the Mayflower. This guy- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Samson

  20. I've seen that video so many times the past week but each time I watch it I pick up on something new. He pulled out his carry gun. I'm really not sure what he was attempting to do with it. What I really hate is that it appears the group of 4 young people on the right might be new shooters. I hate the that they had to experience that.

  22. My sister-in-law, who is a reasonably intelligent woman, has gone down that rabbit hole. Some of the crap that she's telling my wife and mother-in-law is just mind-boggling stupid. She doesn't even see it when my wife points out the irrationality of it - like when she said a certain congressman was in Gitmo when he was giving a speech on the house floor. My MIL is in her mid 80's, and she doesn't need the fear in her life that her daughter is causing by telling her about all these crap stories & theories. It pisses me off!

  26. Amazon gives users the option to select a charity and they make a donation everytime you purchase something. Years ago, I chose the NRA. Although, I'm not a big fan of what they have been doing (or not doing) for the past few years, I never changed it. So as far as I know everytime I make an Amazon purchase, a bit of that purchase goes to the NRA. Just kind of sticking it to the man I guess.

  28. It really pisses me off that the Confederate Battle Flag has been turned into a symbol of hate. I happen to be proud of my Southern Heritage, but I don't dare show it without people judging me wrongly. Another thing is the Celebrate Diversity thing. Be proud of your heritage, family history, national lineage, etc. Except of course if you happen to a Southern, White American. In that case its perfectly acceptable to discriminate and automatically assume that person is a racist, anti-government idiot. Equality is for other people.

  30. If someone else hasn't already done the work it's just not going to be there. That doesn't mean that the information doesn't exist, it just hasn't been entered into the family search database. Example. On my to do list is to find information about a set of GGG grandparents. My GG grandfather immigrated from England to Nashville when he was 15 years old in 1870. He's pretty well documented, but his parents are not. I don't even know their names. I should be able to get information on them by tracking down his immigration paperwork at the Davidson County archives. Here's something that I think is pretty neat. My GG grandfather had a daughter when he was 50 years old who was still alive when I was a little kid. Kind of neat to think about knowing a family member whose father was 130 years older than me.

  32. I had a high school classmate tease me about this exciting information that he had, but he would only share it if I asked to see the content. I had known him to be a smart guy, but his financial talents were always wasted on get rich quick pyramid schemes. I hesitantly requested to see the video. It was a crazed Q video. I watched about half of the video before deleting it. I’ve interacted with some crazies before, but the followers of Q are the most insane in this country. The FBI is doing the country a great service by keeping a close eye on this group.

  33. This post... I have found QAnon absolutely fascinating. It's been the perfect example of conspiracy/cult mindset. Could you count the number of times their predictions have been wrong? It would take a while. Yet the "theory" kept morphing time after time. It was all "part of the plan" which was quadruple z Argentinian chess, or something like that. I'm afraid it isn't over, though. I predict it will morph one of two directions, maybe both at the same time! Trump is winning. He lost the election on purpose so he could spend more time fighting the deep state/whatever. The deep state/whatever is winning and prevented Trump from accomplishing his goals. Heck, we've already seen most of that last one play out in "Stop the Steal". I don't see any reason "QAnon" cannot continue for years to come, unfortunately. I'm still putting my money on the entire Q movement being one of the three: Foreign Propaganda Campaign US Psyop Campaign A joke that got out of hand Speaking of cults, friends, and getting friends out of cults, there is this book that I've been meaning to read but haven't got around to it.

  36. Excellent! I'm currently abandoning all social media and other business platforms that are anti-1A and anti-2A, etc. If everyone would walk away, 75+ million working class Americans, we could really shrink their bottom line. Heck, I’ve spent tons of cash on Amazon. I was buying nearly everything from them. We can’t continue to support businesses that do not support our Constitutional rights.

  38. Just one more tip on keeping the barrel. Badly Pitted bores need a level of extra aggression when the pitting has bubbled up and into bore diameter in addition to creating course lipped pockets threw out the bore. Those raise hell with lead bullets as you might imagine. A method I have used quit alot to squeeze what ever can be had as far as group-abilities is this. Take a bristled bore brush and wind a strip of 00 steel wool tightly into the brush untill it fits as tight as you can get it in the chamber end yet still thin enough to force it threw the bore. Do it dry. You dont want anything to lube its path. Rack it straight threw and in the really bad patches go past that area and pull back and forth several times in the rough spots. The idea is to cut the rust completely free of whats left of the bore steel and it will do just that. In a good barrel, you could very well damage portions of rifling with that method but this is for the basket cases that are other wise not shootable. The most important part of the barrel is the last couple of inches. If you have fairly good rifling with little pitting at the end, you may have a bore that will still spin a bullet without key hole-ing. I'v taken sewer pipe bores that at first looked un shootable but the method described did one hell of a job in making them look not bad as to you wont feel like shooting it is a waste of good components. Hopefully, the ol girl can still poke some kissin cousin circles in the card board! Good Luck.

  40. I have the LASR X system and love it. They send out drill training emails which have really pushed me in developing control and muscle memory. I purchased the SIRT Pro Pistol Glock version with removable magazine. It gives the feel of a fully loaded Glock. I have been amazed with how it has helped when I do live fire. Did some training with @Cool hand Lukeand he talked about how he did dry fire training before matches. I highly recommend it. The money saved on ammo has more than paid for the cost of the system.

  45. My guess is that they began the changeover to the hyphenated numbering system in late 1969 and that your rifle was made at that time. Like Oh Shoot says, if you stick with Ruger mags you're more likely to have fewer potential problems. If you're replacing the stock, I would be interested in the original, as I have a barreled action that could use one.
