His 1# issue is his kids. Everything else is secondary. I respect that. I would rather my kids hate me at Harvard rather than love me from the trailer park.4 points

Muck Boots. No special socks needed. Ever. Fold the uppers down for easy on/off. Pull them up if the snow or mud looks deep. If you wear a 10, buy a 10.3 points

With the state of the federal government right now, is anyone planning for civil unrest after the elections. It seems like if Biden doesn't win, his followers will make the summer of "love" look like a cake walk. And if Trump doesn't win, and there is any evidence of cheating, there may be violence that way. Just wondering if trouble does start, what we should be prepared for to wait out and see what happens and protect ourselves. Maybe I'm just paranoid (well, less so where we are), but I'm afraid for the country. NOTE: Not advocating starting anything, just if people are planning on protecting themselves, their families and maybe even the community of it is brought to us.2 points

This was my mother’s carry and passed onto me. Model 60, “no dash” S&W .38 revolver. Not sure of the date as she purchased it second-hand, but the serial begins with R73xx. She did have the trigger pull lightened as she purchased in MA and the original weight was too much for her arthritic hands. $650 OBO Located in Nashville.2 points

I made my position clear on Red Flag Laws. While I believe that gun owners should seek out training, I do not think the government should be involved. Ad soon as they are, they will mandate training, before being able to have a weapon. Once they get that passed, they will make training so difficult and/or expensive that very few will be able accomplish it. As to the additional duties for a school resource officer, I think all that head-shrink stuff needs to be handled by a separate individual. A school resource officer should be trained on his LEO duties, not counseling duties. Background checks, while allowing more access to private citizens to use it sounds good, the ATF is already proposing no private sales without one, coincidence? I think not. They'd love nothing more than our willingness to use the tools they provide to send them to your door for being a dealer without an FFL because you accessed the system more than whatever arbitrary number they want to use to consider you a dealer. No, that is enough giving away our rights. There is no negotiating with the left, everything we give in to, they want more and more, enough is enough. If you do not feel safe with your neighbor having a gun, get yourself one too!2 points

So here is this rifle now. I did cold blue the steel, refinished the stock, found a forend to refinish, cut the barrel down to 16.5”, hand cut the dovetail for the mag tube pin. The stripped receiver and barrel went to Class3Machining in Texas for threading. Only took 2weeks. (The can is still in jail)2 points

What report would that be? Makes no difference really, let me guess what it says… LE response was unacceptable which everyone in the world knew within days, and guns bad.2 points

I'm 76 with poor circulation in my left foot. I have a pair of Bates military boots with canvas on the sides and they don't work in the snow! Not only do I need winter boots, but I need to know how to size them. I'm wearing a middle weight wool boot sock now. Should I wear two pairs of socks to fit my next pair of boots or just a heavy wool boot sock? Should I add a wool insert? Where should I go to buy them? Academy Sports, Dicks, Bass Pro Shops, etc? Any other tips for keeping my feet warm would be appreciated!1 point

The bad guy will pick the time and place and sometimes avoidance just doesn't work. The state ECP course is a good start. It is not a 'graduate' course. Pistol craft is a continuing process.....you don't know what you don't know. Will your 5 rounds be sufficient against 3 BGs? Start with your state permit and continue your education and skill building1 point

I tell my friends all of the time, If you (or I) can’t tell me (or you) what I (you) don’t want to hear you’re not really my friend. That doesn’t mean they will listen, but you did what you could. The rest is on them.1 point

You went out on a limb to vouch for him in order to secure employment. He should respect and appreciate that enough to not be putting you in this position. I would be inclined to tell him to shape up, yet do it as though trying to help him meet expectations in the event he is not aware that he is sandbagging. He owes it to you, not the other way around. I really wouldn't care if it hurt his feels. But then I guess that might explain why I don't have many friends.1 point

Tuff call, but you say he is upfront with other people when pointing out their shortcomings. You could approach the topic as I'm saying this as a concerned friend, and trying to look out for the kids as well. You just want the best for everybody, but he has to do his fair share, if not more since he's an adult (?), and has kids to support. GL1 point

This. The bad actors will take whatever excuse they need to create some mayhem. They also know which metro areas will be the easiest to make a spectacle in. As with all the other media, they're out to generate clicks and sensationalism. That said, a grocery run before the election wouldn't be a bad idea.1 point

I am a big fan of Sako rifles and .243. I bought an Encore barrel in .243 for my daughter to hunt with. She took her first deer with it at probably 10 or 11. Light recoil and enough power to kill whitetails. It is a great all around caliber for anybody not just kids.1 point

That's some fine work there on a classic workhorse rifle. Love the way it looks.1 point

I don't own a .243 but have shot one before and thought it was pretty tame compared to the .308. I know a lot of people who hunt with it and have had great results.1 point

Dropped Hulu live few months ago, they like raising prices $10 bucks a year. on Youtube tv, so far so good....1 point

*could*. They just as easily leave out all of that once it is said and done. Anything even remotely considerable has to use shall or must. Words matter and it’s just a game to appease until it’s not.1 point

United for internet but we pay extra for increased bandwidth speed since the wife works from home pulling large amounts of code and data from off site locations or cloud storage. Company pays a stipend that covers part of that bill. We dropped Hulu Live when they jacked up their live rates a few months back. We run Netflix, the cheap Hulu, Amazon Prime, Max, and Disney+ for the paid stuff. We use Freevee, Peacock, Vudu, and occasionally Tubi on the free side. We are about to drop Disney+ since we only got it as a trial and to see a few things on it. Once we did that we seldom use it. Even with all the paid channels we have our bill is significantly cheaper than the old Internet and traditional cable plans we had. We are currently getting most of our live TV, on the rare occasion we watch it, via Peacock. I do not watch sports on TV so I have little to no use for live TV. Most of the movie watching is either Netflix or Max.1 point

I have Dish service and Spectrum/charter for internet, the total for both is under $225/mo and no real complaints about either. (No movie channels or sport package extras). Dish signal does go out during heavy rains (not loss of power), internet seldom goes out but does get wonky at times for various reasons but is functioning 99%+ of the time. I've considered going with a streaming service but with Dish, (had Directv before), everything for TV is all in one place, channel selection suits my needs/wants. Press the guide button on the remote and scroll to my hearts content (which frustrates the wife), and I channel hop quite a bit as well. I hate commercials and try like hell to avoid them. I assume you have to close out one app (appletv for example) and open up whatever app you want to want, true or not??? If I'm correct in this assumption, I think it would be a PITA as much as I channel hop. LOL1 point

Just went out to feed the birds. Red birds are first and last to the feeders at morning and nighttime. My outside thermometer read -10. The other read -12. All I know, it does not feel that much difference, to me, at these temps. Just plain cold. I don't remember it has ever been this cold, just air temp with no wind chill, ever before. The year we built our home(84) the wind chill was -40 one day and the crew was out framing our home. Head guy asked me if they could burn scrap to keep warm. Of course I told him yes. That was a year no construction was going on and these guys that were doing the framing were needing the work. Most people, when hungry, will work. Felt sorry for those guys. Left my water dripping last night. First time ever. Been lucky, our water has never frozen, however I did not take the chance at these temps. Jimmy Carter was president in 83-4, and interest went to 20% on some items when borrowing money. Put me out of the farming business. Lost my shirt. Went back to the Post Office and now sitting here, warm, and with a good retirement. Thank God and Glory to Him. He showed me a way out of my mess, at that time. Changed my life forever. I now live for HIM and give Him praise. Guys, faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to Him (God that is), if you want to go to heaven. I encourage you to heed the gospel message. "He who has believed, and has been baptized, shall be saved" (Mark 16:16). Read it for yourselves and believe it. Free choice. God's biblical way to salvation. At 75 and with health issues, I take great comfort in this.1 point
