  1. Yep, pancreatic cancer is a tough one. I think about it every time I see a movie with Patrick Swayze in it.

  2. Such a loss. He came across as truly happy with the journey life took him on, so I'll celebrate that. Knowing what he faced in the end, I would hope I could muster even half the dignity and good cheer he showed during his fight if I had to ensure something similar. Or for anything when my times comes really. Alex showed us what fighting the good fight was all about.

  3. It think that it really depends on when it was diagnosed. If you're diagnosed early and it continues to march on, it would appear that the person was able to fight longer. My neighbor did last a year longer than her doctors told her she would live. Towards the end she was on fentanyl patches. Out of mercy my adult daughter secured her some pot to ease her suffering for which her husband was deeply grateful for after she died. She was the second neighbor that I've seen that pot eased her path towards death caused by cancer. It made me re-think my stance on pot to be frank.

  5. I am having a bear of a time getting the taper pins out of an A2 front post. I do not need the sight, and am replacing it for low profile adjustable gas block to properly gas a new suppressor. What I have done so far: Hand guard is off. Brake removed. Gas tube roll pin is out. Gas tube removed. Barrel Removed from upper. Measured taper pins on both sides to verify the correct side to slam (hitting the 0.12 side v 0.14 side) I started hammering away with the punches and the pins didn't budge. I noticed both sides of the taper pins were a little mushroomed, so I shaved down one to cut that tip off and went back to hammer. I have had absolutely zero movement or luck. I have broken two steel pins at this point and am giving up. I really would prefer not to have to buy the Brownell's A2 sight pin block for this as I'm just tossing the sight. I have watched numerous videos of people doing this, some make it look easy, some hard, but none impossible. Starting to think there is something wrong. Does anyone have any advice, tips or ways to get this thing off without damaging the barrel? Hammer the sight off, cut it with a small angle grinder/blade, etc.? If there is a gunsmith out there willing to do this for some $$, I would gladly ship it out with a pre-paid return box to get this done and turned around fast.

  6. She had colon cancer in 1999 and then they discovered Pancreatic in 2009 due to the regular screenings she was receiving because of the first one. Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer is a no doubt death sentence, just a matter of how it responds to treatment and where is has spread.

  8. A lot of people thought that the Greatest of All Time tournament last year was an audition to replace him. I'd be fine with Brad, Ken or James taking over hosting duties on a temporary or permanent basis.

  9. They are called taper pins for a reason. One end is larger than the other. They only go in and go out one way. Heat helps. A short starter punch helps even more. An armorer's block designed to hold the barrel and sight fixture flat and secure while you beat on them helps just as much. They will come out, but they are designed NOT to come out easily. That's their point. Depending on how badly the narrow end of the pins have been mangled in the current efforts to free that A2 sight and gas block from the barrel, you may need to have someone with a drill press and armorer's block help bore out the part of the narrow end that is captured in the gas block so that it can be driven free.

  10. I've watched that show since I was a kid. Now I'm in my 60s! Seems like its been on forever. I'll bet the show gets canceled. Nobody could replace Trebek. It just wouldn't be right.

  11. That's fine, keep voting third party, and get nothing you want advanced by your chosen representative who is sitting at home instead of DC. My candidate may or may not win, and he may or may not advance anything I would like to see happen, but at least I have a chance, even if it a snowball's chance in hell, but it's a chance.

  13. Alex fought a great fight and kept working long past the time that he needed to. I'm so happy that his fight is over and he doesn't have to suffer any longer. He's going to be missed.

  15. This makes me so sad. I used to watch it every night with my Grandma. It's on Netflix and I watch it with Monkey and scream out the answers. It just won't be the same without the best Canadian ever hosting.

  17. He put up a great fight and kept such a positive attitude that he really became an inspiration for many people. He just seemed like such a wonderful person. Pancreatic cancer is horrible, one of the worst from what I've read. I'll be making a toast to him this evening.

  18. There were many days when I was in school where Alex Trebek was responsible for me learning more in 30 minutes than I did in the 8 hours previous.

  23. I believe he's responding to the title of the thread. I have to say, the level of conspiracy theory here on TGO is reaching monumental proportions. It's becoming hard to take otherwise rational people serious. Alex Jones would be proud. Saying that Biden can only win by massive voter fraud is just not true. Trump lost the popular vote by nearly 3M people in 2016. He likely hasn't gotten more popular. Most presidents don't. He won FL by only 100k, Michigan by 10k and PA by 40k. He's going to need a miracle in all 3 again.

  26. I use a BFH (big freaking hammer) and a very short starter punch. Get the front sight block in a big vise as close as possible to the taper pins and whale away.
