Red vs green dot

Looking at getting a dot for a handgun. Which do you prefer the red or green dot some say the green is easier to find when presenting vs the red.

Me personally, green. I do have red dots and will sell them when I replace them with green dots.

I found that for me it is less about the color and more about the optic itself but I also have astigmatism.

I’m going green. I tend to focus on the red dot instead of my target. I don’t do that with my green dots. My color vision is Red/green color deficient. It makes a big difference to me.

Had a cheap red/green dot switchable to try and found I liked the green better.  It then started malfunctioning and I haven't bought a replacement yet but it will be green. I put a red dot I had on when the red/green one died and definitely need to get a green.

Red for most targets but green works better at other times. Most of mine have a red and green option.

It's for people with astigmatism, is very sharp for me and my wife, has features found in more expensive sights, (like shake-awake), and has great reviews. Battery loads from the top so no removing the sight to change a battery. For around $127 it can't be easily beaten.

 

As far as the OP question, I switched to green because the red washes out when the sun is remotely low. I noticed it when I would shoot out back while facing east in the late mornings. The green doesn't even wash out when looking at foliage with it.

I will echo most everyone else and say go green dot. I find green to be much easier to pick up and track so I am quicker on target. I haven't swapped all my red dots but will start.

As usual...I am the squirrel here. So far, I prefer the red dots. Only have one in green, and it's fine, but lean towards the red. At the moment.

Both are fine at night   For daytime I like Green better.

I have both. I like green way better than red.   I prefer the big circle with the dot in the middle, so even if im shooting at a green target in green grass, I can still hit the target.  Same with lasers, I prefer green or blue over red.  I read that for most folks there’s age and  vision issues that may make green a better choice over red, but ultimately, it varies for most.

I prefer red over green. I shoot outside a lot and I find that the green dot gets lost in the grass and trees and stuff. I’ve yet to find a background where I loose the red dot.
