Unreasonable or not?

I usually go to bed about 1:00 AM and get up about 9:00. Everyone in my neighborhood seems to want to mow the grass at 7:00 AM. We need some kind of noise ban from 8:00 PM until 9:00 AM. No two people keep the same hours and he probably has no idea it is bothering you. People just do not think anymore.

If they don't do things like this all of the time, I say let it go.  Maybe they are renting it and are trying to get done whatever they can before they have to turn it back in.  That may not be the reason, but if there isn't a pattern, I wouldn't get too worked up about it.  I suppose how close you are to each other can make a difference.  I won't typically mow my grass before it is dry, but if I need to because I am leaving or something, I have been known to do it early in the morning.  It's rare, but it happens.

Yeah, maybe they're having to prep for a deadline with a contractor or something, who knows? I'd give it more than one nights worth of irritation before making a stink, myself.

Yep.  I consider "quite hours" to be 10pm-7am.  So at 9:55 they've got 5 more minutes before I start to get annoyed.  If the noise was routine, I'd get annoyed a lot faster.  But as stated, they might be up against some sort of deadline and gotta get it done now.  We've all been there.

I'm with you...stuff happens. As long as it's not routine I wouldn't consider it a big deal.

Depends on which neighbor it is. One of my neighbors are just great people and I'd probably be over there helping them....the ones on the other side? I'd call the law...LOL

Well, that's it. There's a history with these folks that goes back several years to when their offspring were teenagers and used to have parties till 2-3 am on the weekends, then they increased in frequency till they were having a bash almost every other night.. I've called the law on them several times, so we're naturally not on speaking terms.

In the photo below, my house is on the right, theirs on the left. North is at the top of the photo. The white line is the approximate property line. Our bedroom is on the west end of the house and the work is being done on the property line just to the left of that group of trees that you see between us. That's how close it is. The work was still going at 10:30pm last night, but I didn't say anything (not that it would do any good anyway - the owner is a real piece of work and not rational). Besides, there's no noise ordinance in the county, so there isn't a lot the sheriff can do about it. Looks like I'll just have to tolerate it till they're done. However, they did have the Bobcat on my side of the property line to access the railroad ties that I assume they were excavating. If it's still there this afternoon, I'm going to insist that they remove it.

From your history, I would ignore it.  If the guy is a jerk, and the law can't do anything, all you do when you complain is give him feedback on what to do to aggravate you.   If he is not tearing up your property with it, just let it go.   If he is, the law CAN do something about that, take a video and pictures.

Most City noise ordinances kick in at Dark or 9p.m. They even include Lawn Mowing.  However I read you are not in the city so guess that is out.  I would say unreasonable.

Can't tell from the picture but do you have a safe place to shoot from your yard? good backstop?

Invite us over for Gun show and tell, BYOB (Bring your own Bullets) party some evening.
