  2. I'm sorry to hear this. I've walked through the valley of the shadow of death so many times in the past 40 years that I can say with certainty that the one common thread among all of those things for Christians is the assurance that death is not a period, but merely a comma. I hope that you find peace and dare I say even happiness thinking about all of the things John is writing about life on the other side of that comma, right now.

  7. You aren't considering certain factors here. Being outgunned means absolutely nothing here. I'm aware of countless stories of American Servicemembers holding back 10-1 numbers, and some stories of them killing dozens without suffering any loss of life on their side. You're not taking into account violence of action, nor are you considering the cowardly nature of their culture. In fact, more numbers work against them, as it actually encourages them to break contact when they see the guy next to them flee, which generally happens when you start dropping bodies. I've seen this first hand. Yes, 4 or 5 Marines would have had their hands full. No doubt in my mind that their actions would have been focused on seizing the initiative and they would have been successful in doing so. A platoon of Marines? No doubt in my mind they would have ended the lives of so many before they had the chance to get away. It isn't just about who has greater numbers or better weapons when it comes to fighting these monkeys. The only thing they respond to is power. When you try to flee or break contact they will become emboldened and take the initiative. When you return with great violence and decisive action they scatter like cockroaches no matter how many they have on their side.

  8. I'm amazed this far after 9/11 I'm still having to take my shoes off, and wait inline to be sexually assaulted Which scares me more? A otherwise law abiding citizen carrying a firearm onto a plane, or a TSA agent purposely sending my daughter through the naked body scanner to get his jollies? I can tell you it isn't the otherwise law abiding citizen.

  9. the place where I shoot has a bar. I could go and shoot, go have beers and then go back and shoot some more. Of course I could get rocked somewhere else and then go to the range. There is nothing stopping me from doing that other than personal responsibility. I see this whole deal as a non issue.

  10. Congratulations on passing your HCP class. Both the class and the range qualification are prerequisites to getting your HCP. Looks like you did a great job qualifying with your weapon. Welcome to the community of law-abiding citizens who have chosen to accept the responsibility for their own safety and that of their families.

  13. Four more years of Obama will bring hundreds more of these funny threads. It's funny how some people will relax a bit and take the screwing that the government and politicians dish out as long as its their guys giving he shaft. This thing that we are in is not an Obama problem. It's an accountability problem. The American people have to start holding their guys feet to the fire as passionately as we do to the opposition. We let our guys do all kinds stupid things while turning a blind eye, but if the opposition sneezes we accuse them of spreading the plague. As long as we continue to play these games we will continue to have crappy leaders and a declining civilization. It's our fault people. The snakes are just being snakes.

  15. I completed the HCP class last Saturday. I was very pleased with the instructor; Dennis Mankin, the class and range sessions. His class cost $50, which includes the range fee. Some of the other instructors I spoke with charged an additional $5 for the range fee, and a couple charged $100 or more for the class. We had close to 30 in the class and I pretty sure everyone passed. One elderly gentleman had problems loading his magazine because his hands shook so bad... that's kinda scarey. I aced the written test, which is pretty much a no-brainer. Just pay attention, take notes if you have to, and use some common sense. I'm not sure if the range test is SOP, but ours consisted of a total of 48-rds; 12-rds each from 3, 7, 15 & 25 yards. 6 of the 12 shots were "on command", the other 6 were at our own pace. Here are a couple of photos of the target. Yeah... I pulled 5-rds into the 9 ring, 1 in the 8 and 1 at the bottom of the 7. I'm sure those were from 25 yards and I attribute those to trigger control, or the lack thereof. The remaining 41-rds pretty much tore up the red:

  18. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/09/flight-attendant-tries-to-bring-loaded-gun-through-airport-security/ In short, a flight attendant somehow forgets she has her Smitty .38 in her purse. So she gets rolled up in security and taken to secondary screening, where the TSA officer somehow fires the revolver. The incompetence here is absolute staggering to the point of being funny. How does one have an ND with a revolver? That has to be the safest handgun in the world.... you can just look at it and tell it's loaded, not to mention having such a long, hard trigger pull. Lesson, don't leave loaded weapons where TSA agents can get them. It is a recipe for disaster.

  28. They need this ammo to practice with in the secret war games they are staging to inter us all into the FEMA Camps after the Nobama election riots of late 2012 and early 2013. They need the practice. After all, it took two NY policemen, 15 to 17 shots, and 9 wounded passerbys to get one bad guy in new york the other day. They will confiscate the next one billion rounds of ammo right after the election. I would recommend checking to see if they have bought a billion gallons of aviation fuel for the FEMA black helicopters. .....looney leroy opining from the supersecret bunker deep in the hills of east tennessee. .... My real advice; quit worrying about this. We are an armed society. Who is gonna come and take your guns? More importantly, who is gonna suspend the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the State and Federal courts??? Who is gonna run over all the individual state governments and local police and sheriff departments to do all this bad stuff??? Food for thought. leroy

  29. Yesterday I attended the funeral of one of my very best friends. It's because of him that I have the interest in firearms and Second Amendment issues that I do, and saying goodbye to him has been more difficult than I imagined. He was like a brother to me, and he had a positive impact on many, many people. He was the embodiment of a servant leader, and would do anything for anyone if they had the need. We went to many gun shows together, went shooting together, and he and his wife were in our home many times and we were in theirs. We ate together, traveled together, we even ran into each other at Sam's Club many times and would go get something to eat together on the spur of the moment. I have a couple of knives that I bought from him and was considering selling; now I wouldn't take anything for them. In addition to being a good friend, he was a father, husband, and grandfather. He loved guns and shooting, cooking, and remodeling homes. He was a Christian, so my faith gives me comfort in that his leaving us is not the end and that I will see him again one day. But until that time, I grieve for his family, and I feel an overwhelming loss at his passing. Yesterday was extremely difficult and emotional. Rest in peace, John. You will be missed.

  31. 99.99 % of the products in most stores are inside a wrapper that cannot (or should not) be opened in the store (unless agree to buy it regardless). Would you refuse to buy the new flamin hot cheetoz until you opened the bag and tried one? Want to buy a lawnmower, going to insist they gas it up and put in the oil so you can start it first? Cars are one of the few things we can try before we buy, and are an anomaly, not the norm, really.

  32. There is all the difference in the world between a 380 and a 9mm +P. Energy is not the only thing to consider; momentum is a big deal in handgun rounds. The difference in momentum between a 380 and a 147 +P is huge, while the energy difference is lower due to the squared velocity. That momentum ensures the 9mm will exit an attacker, rather than just stop after hitting a bone or something like a 380. Both energy and momentum are important in a handgun. Rifles tend to reach potent energy levels and make up for the low mass (most rifle rounds weigh less than average handgun rounds...!) with raw energy, but handguns cannot get to that level. If energy alone would do it, you would see on the shelf bullets made of aluminum that weigh like 20 grains or something.

  33. It’s a good policy. I rarely dry fire my guns and I would rather not have one that’s been dry fired a bunch. I wouldn’t ask to dry fire a gun unless I had made my mind up to buy it. But then, I make the decision to buy most of my guns anymore without handling the gun. However, I’m sure there are some gun stores that will let you dry fire to your heart’s content.

  36. Just to be clear, I believe one of the conditions for this thread existing and the continued "spamming" of posts which border on being nothing more than political proselytizing was that I am grudgingly "OK" with this so long as your posts are not 100% videos and nothing else. We aren't a repository of Youtube links and any idiot with an inclination can go search Youtube and find all of the Gary Johnson stuff he wants to watch. What I want to see here are meaningful posts from you, with a video included if it's necessary. If this thread turns into nothing more than a list of your favorite bookmarks of Youtube videos, it's not going to last very long and I'm not going to continue to be "OK" with this. It's annoying and pointless other than to give you satisfaction that you're doing drive-by activism. Engage the public. Post your own content. Substantiate with videos if you must.

  37. I wouldn't buy as GAP, as I don't think you'll find ammo for them very much longer. Just imagine your GSG having recoil; a long, gentle push. That's how shooting a 45 feels. It's great!

  41. Yep, definitely no understanding of charitable giving, combined with big dose of sour grapes. For every buck you give away to a qualifying org, you avoid .10 to .35 in taxes, depending on bracket and type of income. But you're still losing .65 to .90 cents of that dollar that you could have tucked away or spent. There was a time when the big rich could actually overall save money by giving x amount of it away, hence lowering tax rate on the rest, but the tax codes have long since been tweaked to negate that. So yes, whether you make $13K or $13million, charitable deductions are definitely given away. Should you choose to pay the federal taxes on them also, you're free to do so. But then you'd be not only generous, but stupid, too. - OS
