Could someone smarter than me please explain personal space as described by the law with emphasis on defense and fear for ones safety? Reason being, I work with the public in retail sales. More than once I have had people who do not understand personal space. The majority of the time I can just take a step or two back and all is well. Today, a man comes in, walks up to me and starts talking. Never stops closing in so I casually back away a step and converse with him. He takes a step toward me and I take a step back. He's closing less than 10 inches away from me. That crap makes me nervous. We're damn near dancing the tango. After four times I just flat out tell him "Look fella, we're standing in a 20ft wide, 30ft long driveway. Any reason you keep moving toward me repeatedly?". He was a little miffed. Asked me what the hell my problem was and I told him, "My problem is another grown man trying to stand closer to me than my own wife." I didn't have what he needed anyway so I sent him on his way. Call me a coward or a pussy or what have you but a stranger, in a wide open area, trying to get closer than a couple of feet from me makes me nervous. I understand that don't fly everywhere. I was at the gunshow this weekend and it was elbow to elbow. BUT, in an open area where I take a step away, then you step forward and I step back again only to have you come closer AGAIN, that's a problem with me. Sad part is what would have happened had he stepped forward again after I said something about it. Getting into an altercation is the last thing i need or want. Two words the world does not know. "Common Courtesy" The world is certainly common, but somewhere we lost the courtesy of a gentleman.3 points

The guy is nothing but a liberal begging for attention. Otherwise he could have got rid of it in pvt and no one would have ever known. Btw if your gonna try to make what your doing a religious/morals thing, you might want to read the WHOLE bible. He quotes the bible here, Isaiah 2:4 "They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore." But maybe he missed these Psalm 144:1-2 Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle; My lovingkindness and my fortress, My stronghold and my deliverer; My shield and He in whom I take refuge; Who subdues my people under me. Joel 3:10 "Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong." Ecclesiastes 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace.3 points

Years of Math 1950 - 2010 Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $ 2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters , but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried. Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s: 1. Teaching Math In 1950s A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit ? 2. Teaching Math In 1960s A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit? 3. Teaching Math In 1970s A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit? 4. Teaching Math In 1980s A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20. 5. Teaching Math In 1990s A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20.. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's ok. ) 6. Teaching Math In 2009 Un hachero vende una carretada de maderapara $100. El costo de la producciones es $80. Cuanto dinero ha hecho? 7. Teaching Math In 2012 Who cares, just steal the lumber from your rich neighbor's property. He won't have a gun to stop you, and the President says it's OK anyway cuz it’s redistributing the wealth.3 points

As much as I despise this deal I think you folks that are implying that this is strictly a left-wing phenomenon are grossly misguided. There are every bit as many of our beloved Republican congressmen and senators on the take as there are Democrats. And it will continue to be this way until we take the money out of politics. Of course we depend on the politicians to police themselves so what do you think the odds are of that happening?3 points

The real rub for me at least is not the people involved, nor is it the concept. What chaps my ass is that even IF the project is a huge success and they're able to produce 1.21 jigawatts every second of the day, the price of electricity will not fall one dime for the users. This is just another way for people in the position to abuse their power to hand down some "aid" to their family/friends. Unfortunately I'm not at all surprised, given that the spenders in Ca have absolutely zero concept of what's important or the fact that they are piss poor broke.3 points

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Olympic-Arms-Inc/114264921930723?fref=ts Press Release: Olympic Arms, Inc. Announces New York State Sales Policy FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Olympic Arms is a staunch believer in and defender of the Constitution of the United States, and with special attention paid to the Bill of Rights that succinctly enumerates the security of our Divinely given Rights. One of those Rights is that to Keep and Bear Arms. Legislation recently passed in the State of New York outlaws the AR15 and many other firearms, and will make it illegal for the good and free citizens of New York to own a large selection of legal and safe firearms and magazines. We feel as though the passage of this legislation exceeds the authority granted to the government of New York by its citizens, and violates the Constitution of the United States, ignoring such SCOTUS rulings as District of Columbia v. Heller - 554, U.S. 570 of 2008, McDonald v. Chicago - 561 U.S. 3025 of 2010, and specifically the case of United States v. Miller – 307 U.S. 174 of 1939. Due the passing of this legislation, Olympic Arms would like to announce that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee of such an entity - will no longer be served as customers. In short, Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York - henceforth and until such legislation is repealed, and an apology made to the good people of the State of New York and the American people. If the leaders of the State of New York are willing to limit the right of the free and law abiding citizens of New York to arm themselves as they see fit under the Rights enumerate to all citizens of the United State through the Second Amendment, we feel as though the legislators and government entities within the State of New York should have to abide by the same restrictions. This action has caused a division of the people into classes: Those the government deems valuable enough to protect with modern firearms, and those whose lives have been deemed as having less value, and whom the government has decided do not deserve the right to protect themselves with the same firearms. Olympic Arms will not support such behavior or policy against any citizen of this great nation. Olympic Arms invites all firearms manufacturers, distributors and firearms dealers to join us in this action to refuse to do business with the State of New York. We must stand together, or we shall surely fall divided. Sincerely, Brian Schuetz President Olympic Arms, Inc. I can only hope more companies join LaRue and Oylmpic Arms and start a ban on sales to rogue State and Local Governments. What would be great is if ALL manufacturers of firearms and accessories and do this!!!2 points

This is a State issue, not a FED issue. I agree, I enjoyed the vocational part of school more than anything and for someone who is not interested in college this a great opportunity to learn a skill in the last 3 years of HS. BUT, BHO and the federal gov. should leave these decidisons up to the States and not dictating what the states should do. Rand Paul here - http://static.teapartyexpress.org/ .2 points

I already know want he will say. Rich people suck, guns suck, Republicans suck, I inherited this mess, I'm going to stimulate the economy, I'm going to create jobs, look how great I am. The Dems will swoon, the Reps won't, the media will talk about how wonderful the speech was, they will exploit some victims for political gains and then dispose of them tomorrow, and Fox News will talk about how crappy the speech was. I'll keep watching Big Bang Theory.2 points

Actually, OS, I think he was a Sherriff's Deputy. His partner was also shot, but it looks like he will pull through. From what I understand, the Fish and Game Wardens confronted him first and a shoot out ensued and he ran to this cabin. At that point the Deputies tried to take him and he killed the first one. He then tried to run out the back of the cabin and was confronted by the second Deputy, which he wounded. California Fish and Game stated that all their people were safe. Of course, this is what the media is saying, so who really knows.2 points

What has the world come to that you can't rob someone in Detroit without fear of being shot! With more and more citizens arming themselves legally, criminals are going to be forced to move to Chicago or NYC. What's happening to America! </sarcasm> -southernasylum2 points

They should get the clue, since it will greatly reduce their chance of getting shot! But you're probably right, they won't run out and get a job after hearing this....which confuses me because their man in the White House has created so many new jobs, it should be easy/sarcasm off.2 points

I grew up attending a First Baptist church. They did horrid things like.... 1.)Visit my sick grandmother for 10 years after she was phsyically unable to attend church anymore 2.)Send my family Christmas cards every year 3.)Invite us to luncheons 4.)Smile and shake our hands whenever we came to service Horrendous I know... these "assault Baptists" should be stopped!2 points

I completely agree. They are getting bolder as the days go on. The only thing that could hold them back a bit would be the the fear of losing seats in the mid term elections. With the strong push for gun control, that doesn't seem to bother them anymore. They think they can win anyway. If they're right, the USA has some very dark years ahead.2 points

Current law states: ....No person arrested for a traffic, regulatory or misdemeanor offense, except in cases involving weapons, a controlled substance or controlled substance analogue, shall be strip searched unless there is reasonable belief that the individual is concealing a weapon, a controlled substance, a controlled substance analogue or other contraband. I see no reason to change that.2 points

It's not the nuke that hits us that I'm worried about... It's the nuke that detonates 200-300 miles above us that scares me. You need a pretty good space program to re-enter a satellite so that it comes down over a specific populated area, something the Norks are decades from having... You don't need much technology to place a nuke in orbit and set it off somewhere over the Central US... EMP is a much bigger threat than a FatMan sized nuke going off perfectly at the center of a major city.2 points

Another problem is the loss of farmland and the maximization of use of remaining farmland. Quail like places like fence rows and there are not as many fence rows as there used to be, plus we farm as close to the fence rows as we can. Another big problem is there are a lot more birds of prey such as hawks than there used to be and they will kill out quail populations in quick order. A friend of mine owned a quail hunting preserve and I've watched the hawks destroy his populations. As in swoop down on a covey in cover and kill every bird in the covey, it's frustrating to watch. It also seems there are more predators than there used to be. It's sad, it's been years since I've jumped a covey while squirrel or rabbit hunting, used to occur pretty regular.2 points

Rev, as someone who has had several dozen Muslim Arabs try to kill me, I can tell you that all my targets will be wearing turbans and sporting AKs. I'm sorry that makes you think I'm racist or intolerant, but like I said, that is your problem. The Muslims that I know who were right there with me getting shot at would have zero issues with these targets, because they would understand that those targets are depicting the bad guys, not very Muslim man ever born. I'll never understand folks that will go out of their way to get offended.2 points

LOL Don't start like you guys did went I ranted about people touching and shaking hands all the time. I'm serious. When I'm in Walmart, I understand having to stand close to people in line. In line at the DMV, waiting for a bucket of popcorn at the movies. Understood. But the more space we have, the more space we should give. In a wide open area gimme two feet, jeez. I wished to GOD I could have worked up a chili dog/Strohs/nachos bell grande fart. I'd have give him a John Cleese and farted in his general direction.2 points

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Olympic-Arms-Inc/114264921930723?fref=ts Olympic Arms was recently asked to advertise in the FOP Journal; the official magazine of the Fraternal Order of Police. It is well known that the FOP is a staunch supporter of Gun Control, had backed the AWB under Bill Clinton, and supports the current AWB under consideration that was introduced by Diane Feinstein. The FOP was actually accredited as being one of the sources that helped prepare the language of Gun Control suggestions that were forwarded by Vice President Biden. Below is a copy of our response to the FOP Journal: Please forward this email to every major principal in your organization. AS: 1. The Fraternal Order of Police is on Congressional Record as having been a major supporter of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. a. http://books.google.com/books?id=ZGb80RBLHxcC&pg=PA18184&lpg=PA18184&dq=FOP+Supports+Assault+WEapons+Ban&source=bl&ots=Yiafz1Lbgv&sig=_9DLM1ZuC79jKiqf2vWMtnhf1d4&hl=en&sa=X&ei=zBEVUer_L-jriwL3oYGACQ&ved=0CFYQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=FOP%20Supports%20Assault%20WEapons%20Ban&f=false 2. As a matter of fact and record, the FOP is accredited with assisting VP Biden in formulating the language of the newly proposed ban: a. http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/12/biden-no-reason-assault-weapons-ban-shouldnt-clear-152546.html 3. Additionally, as a matter of fact and public record, the FOP is in support of the newly recommended Assault Weapons Ban introduced by Senator Feinstein. a. FOP representatives were actually standing on the Stage during the presentation as a sign of "support". THEREFORE: Olympic Arms, Inc, manufacturers of AR15 type firearms, firearms that these legislators would call "Assault Weapons", will not be supporting in any way, shape, form or fashion, The Fraternal Order of Police, any organization that represents, supports, takes advertising dollars from, spends advertising dollars with, is in anyway related to, any individual who is a card carrying member of, or any person or entity in any way associated with the Fraternal Order of Police. Period. Henceforth; • Be assured that Olympic Arms will not rest in its efforts to educate our customers, fans and followers the extent of the hypocrisy committed by the FOP and FOP Journal (fighting to outlaw the firearms produced by the very companies they now solicit for advertising dollars…). You can also be certain that we continue to make every effort to properly educate the firearms consumer in general, of the same. • Additionally, we will make continued efforts at assure that ALL firearms manufacturers are aware of the FOP's support to strip Constitutional Rights from Americans, and their support of further unconstitutional gun control legislation. • We pledge to inform all of our customers the lengths that the FOP and associated FOP affiliates by proxy (which includes all your advertisers)are willing to go to in order to strip the American Citizen of their Constitutional Rights, while at the same time writing in exemptions to the same legislation to ensure that their members maintain those same rights they would have stripped from others. • Your actions are the actions of a rogue organization supporting tyranny, not an organization sworn to uphold the laws of the land, to protect, serve and defend their constituencies. Let it be know, that your actions are reprehensible and shameful. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/12/vp-biden-says-he-needs-cops-help-to-reinstate-assault-weapons-ban-and-much-more/ http://www.guncite.com/aswpolice.html Sincerely, Thomas A. That's the way to really do it right. When I was a kid and camping out, we'd just cut 'em in half, slow boil 'em for a while , throw in a can or two of peas or beans, maybe sliced up onions, spuds, whatever, then lastly drop in strips of canned biscuits for the dumplins. Then eat, very sloppily. - OS1 point
