  1.   I think I'll keep a couple grand on hand for 'ol Jim Bob.  I have every intention of making low ball offers on these clowns that cleaned out retailers and are now looking at their CC statement wondering how they're going to pay it.  Jim Bob needs to feel pain for what he is trying to do to honest gun owners.  I will be scooping up as many rifles I can at 25% below retail value.  At least I'll have a good collection to pass on to my kids.

  3. Officer: Why did you shoot this man? Father: I was in fear for my life and the lives of my children. He attacked us with a deadly weapon and I responded with one as well. I wasn't able to stop him in time to save my sons but was able to keep him from driving off and killing someone else. I repeat. i was in fear for my life.

  5. I've got a Saltmaster brand shaker I'll cut you a deal on for $1400. Trust me, that's a great price. And I'll throw in two bulk cans of salt for just $140. I've got more than $2000 into this whole set up but times are tough. No budging on the prices because anyone willing to question me is an idiot.

  6. Let their tears fall like rain. I'll be more than happy to lowball these bastards with cash.   I've already seen the excuses starting on other forums- "I got a little carried away with the panic and now I need to sell some stuff". Oh well, sucks to be you. Now we'll see the real free market at work.

  7. There was no temptation there, just a reaction brought on by a momentary mental break.  Not guilty by reason of insanity.   On another note, perhaps if our legal system treated drunk drivers as more than a moving violation folks would think twice about it; or maybe not.  I guess I don't know the answers.  What I do know is that the fatal consequences of driving drunk are very real and clear.  No, we can't legislate people into doing the right things, but we can SEVERELY punish those who do the wrong things.  I would sleep better at night if vehicular homicides caused by drunk driving was punishable by death.  Anyone who drinks and gets behind the wheel is not just taking a chance with their life, they are taking a chance with the lives of innocent folks.  There is no way to argue that.  On those occassions that they kill an innocent they should be treated the same as any other premeditated murderer.   I hope this 20 year old POS is rotting in HELL right now.  I hope the parents of this 20 year old drunk driving POS spend the rest of their lives knowing they are responsible for putting that life taking human garbage on this planet.  I hope this father is found not guilty and set free.  I hope that in the future more fathers do this.

  14. I am a little upset over the whole thing as we just had a drunk driving POS in my area get a non-existent sentence after pleading guilty for the vehicular homicide of a local woman while he was driving drunk.  He will be a free man very shortly while the woman he murdered is in the ground, forever.  A similar case last year only gave a few years probation to a woman who murdered a man while she was drunk driving.... she had half a dozen prior drunk driving arrests.  Our legal system has failed us.  It has left folks with no choice but to take the law into their own hands in order for justice to be done.  Maybe if our legal system wasn't infected with pro-crime judges and slimy lawyers on both sides we might find justice.  Now I'm all pissed off again.  I'm one of the few people who watched Law Abiding Citizen and wished it had ended differently.

  17. I would say hold off on shooting until the craziness ends. The reason ammo is being sold at 300% markup on Armslist is because people are paying it, and that is the same reason ammo will remain out of stock. So long as people are willing to pay stupid prices, bubba will wait in line at Walmart so he can turn around and sell it to you. If people chilled the hell out for a second and just stopped paying stupid prices it would all go back to normal. Bubba would have to sell the ammo back at relatively normal prices because he can't have hundreds of dollars tied up in ammo.... smokes and Natty Lite ain't gonna buy themselves ya know.

  18.   Young?  Man, I'm 41.  I kinda don't believe I should have to join the military and go to a foreign country in order to exercise my right to keep and bear arms.  I am also old enough to remember when pretty much every "good ol' boy" drove a pickup truck that had a gun rack in the rear window.  That rack generally held at least a shotgun and, often, a rifle.  Those long guns were present year 'round, not just during hunting season and, no, hunting season isn't different because the Second Amendment is not about hunting.  It was not a big deal and no one freaked out nor were they portrayed as 'armed mobs' by most folks because, back then, people weren't drinking the pussification Kool-Aid.  Some of us might like to still be able to do that without being harassed and without anyone freaking out.  It isn't our fault that the general populace has their heads up their collective asses.  I also don't think that most of us are talking about walking down the sidewalk, either alone or in groups, while carrying an AR, etc.

  20. Michael Bane's letter to Colorado State Senator Steve King ...   Subject: OUTDOOR CHANNEL Pulls Productions from Colorado To: Steve King Dear Senator King; I met you yesterday after the so-called "public hearings" on the antigun bills; as I mentioned, I am an Executive Producer for OUTDOOR CHANNEL. I currently have four series in production, including GUN STORIES, the top show on OC, with several additional series in development. My series focus on guns, hunting, shooting and the outdoors. This morning I met with my three Producers, and we made the decision that if these antigun bills become law, we will be moving all of our production OUT of Colorado. We have already cancelled a scheduled filming session for late this month. Obviously, part of this is due to our own commitment to the right to keep and bear arms, but it also reflects 3 lawyers' opinions that these laws are so poorly drafted and so designed to trap otherwise legal citizens into a crime (one of our attorneys referred to them as "flypaper laws") that it is simply too dangerous for us to film here. I can give you chapter and verse on the legal implications if you need, but suffice to say that the first legal opinion was so scary we went out and got two others. Al three attorneys agreed. We are relatively small potatoes in television, but our relocation of production will cost Colorado a little less than a million dollars in 2013. Secondly, we have proudly promoted Colorado in our productions (and have been moving more and more production into the state); now we will do exactly the opposite. What does this mean for Colorado? The community of television producers is a small one. Last week I had lunch with a major network producer who was looking to locate his new reality series in Colorado. That producer is also a shooter, and the new reality series will now be based out of Phoenix. That lunch cost Colorado over a million in economic impact. Thirdly, according to numbers I received from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (for whom I used to work) yesterday, hunting had an almost $800,000,000 impact on Colorado in 2012, driving as many as 8330 jobs. Next month I will be in Texas meeting with most of the top outdoor/hunting producers, and the Number One agenda item will be Colorado. Already, hunting organizations and statewide hunting clubs around the country are pulling out of Colorado, and we expect this trend to accelerate rapidly. The message we will take to our viewers and listeners is that these proposed laws are so dangerous to hunters and any other person, be she a fisherman or a skier who brings a handgun into the state for self-defense, that we cannot recommend hunting, fishing or visiting Colorado. We reach millions of people, and, quite frankly, we have a credibility that Colorado government officials can no longer match. Colorado Division of Wildlife is already running ads trying to bring more out-of-state hunters to Colorado...in light of the flood of negative publicity about these proposed laws, I can assure you those ads will fail. We estimate that as many as one-quarter to one-third of out-of-state hunters will desert Colorado in the next 18-24 months, which will quite frankly be a disaster for the hunting industry in Colorado and have a devastating effect on our western and northern communities (certainly citieslike Grand Junction). This is not a "boycott" in the traditional sense of a centralized, organized operation; rather, it is more of a grassroots decision on where shooters, hunters and other sportsmen are willing to spend their money. Look at the collapse of the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in February. That venerable multimillion dollar trade show chose to ban modern sporting rifles and standard capacity magazines, and within three weeks it collapsed as all vendors and sponsors pulled out. Colorado is going to pay a huge price for laws that will do nothing. Thank you, sir, for your support. Best, Michael Bane OUTDOOR CHANNEL mbane@outdoorchannel.com

  24. Ammo prices did go back down from the last time in 2008. I saw $50-80 dollar a box .380. I bought some in November for $12 a box. The Russian will go up due to a mark up overseas around $50.00 a case from what I have been told.   If Magic put his stuff on auction and some one paid him so what? I have also seen a lot of whining due to not being prepared.   Sandy Hook contributed to this current situation, as sad as it was. But it was just the catalyst. It would have happened anyway.   Our goverment has a agenda. If someone drove by and offered you $5K more than your car was worth I guess most would just turn them down. But when you want that same car,  you want to offer $5K less.   I have all kinds of ammo that I bought over the past four years. I for one also will be looking for the good buys when they come as I always have.

  25. There are "iron sights" & then there are "iron sights" basically what I am saying is that there are huge differences inbetween one type of irons vs another. You're not going to get great groups from notch & post type sights but on the other side of the coin you're not going to get great target aquisition speed out of itty-bitty peer through dual through-peepers either. It's sort of a balancing act, take for example with A2 standard service rifle sights which I find to be a very good "middle ground" w/regards to iron sight types, I am both quick & relatively accurate out to the 300m mark, beyond that my target aquisition speed slows down considerably & I really have to concentrate on my fundamentals to repeatedly put rounds on target. But when I say putting rounds on target I am not refering to shooting tight groups, if I want to really tight shoot groups with iron sights I will switch over to "ring within ring" type iron sights, with very small diameter diopters (sights with both front & rear peep holes), however doing so slows down my target aquisition speed quite considerably but the trade off is that I am able to group the rounds on distant or smaller targets much more accureately & consistantly. So to answer your question ... "it depends on the irons" essentially what I am trying to say is that with all other factors being equal, same rifle, same load, same weather conditions, same distance, same shooting position, etc, I can typically shoot 3" groups @ 300m with diopter sights, those open up to twice that size using standard issue rear apeture front post A2 sights (6" groups @ 300m), and around twice that again if I am using post & notch type sights (12" @ 300m). The reverse is true with regards to speed of target aquisition which is also a serious factor though, so keep that in mind when choosing the proper iron sights for your intended application. Granted these are just examples of rough averages, some days I shoot better/worse, quicker/slower than others, some notch/post, apeture/diopeter sights are better than others, etc, but I hope that the above ramblings helped illustrate the differences in some of the various sight types.

  29. Looks very nice.   Here we go again with the open trigger guard. If the stars aligned perfectly to knock off your thumb safety, squeeze the grip safety, and pull the trigger, all at the same time, I doubt a piece of leather in front of the trigger will save you. Can anyone here point to an instance where a 1911 was discharged accidentally because of a holster with an open triggerguard?

  31. That's just funny!!| My hospitality ends on the front porch after a glass of sweet tea, if I don't know you.  "A message to Francisco":  While many of us in the gun culture trust each other implicitly, for a total stranger to ask to come into our homes and photograph ourselves and our arms is beyond the pale. it's like one of us asking you to let us photograph your wife's underclothes.   In other words...it's not considered polite and is provocation for suspicion.  In some cases, doing something like this is hazardous. So..uhh..no.

That Yankee accent will get you right in their door. They really like yankees in them parts.

  40. Photoguy, the word that came back to me from the Shoot Boss is that we probably will be shooting less than 500 rds due to the ammo shortage. Though, I suppose, if you've got' em - you can shoot 'em. They definitely will cater the event to supplies available. That said - If you really want to come (and can make it for Saturday, Sunday, or both) I will/can bring some extra .22 ammo from my stock. Will sell at my cost, for shooting at this event only.   Dress warmly, bring raingear! It ain't spring yet!!! BTW: I'm one of those 'over-the-hill' guys. But I still get out and play in the mud! (I just bitch about it so it doesn't hurt so bad)

  47. Think about this. If you were to walk into a sporting goods store, any of them, and look at AR's do they generally have a rear sight? They generally do not come with rear sights so unless the place that has AR's also has rear sights you are not going to walk out with one.   If you walked into any Walmart and looted an AR it would not have sights.   And as useless as an AR without sights may seem it is still useable. Most people can hit a target at 15 feet without using the sights. Or you could walk in the shots if shooting at longer distances. And without sights they are still pretty intimidating when you are staring down the barrel.   Dolomite
