I hate reloads too. Typically reloads(be it commercial or private) are done in haste. I do however shoot 'handloads' exclusively. The difference? Handloads are carefully crafted works of art.

Just as hospitals are for the sick, the church is for the sinners!  BUT, just as the hospitals do not endorse getting sick, the church can not endorse sin!

They wont, for 2 reasons. 1st, they fear their own will come after them. 2nd, they endorse the acts. You get to pick the reason.

As well they should be allowed.   There is zero reason for barring participation by gay scout leaders just like there is zero reason for barring participation by gay scouts...as long as there is no sexual impropriety going on it doesn't and shouldn't matter.

I have often found it amazing how the supposedly "tolerant" people are actually some of the most intolerant people on the planet.  Here we have a small church, which I would be willing to bet that close to 100% of their congregation disapprove the BSA's decision on homosexuals, stand on their principles.  At one time in this country, people who were unwavering on their principles/convictions were respected.  Today, it is totally different.  If your view or belief is not in sync with the latest pop culture, you are mocked, ridiculed, demonized, and if you are of a certain political affiliation, you are targeted by the IRS.  I guess in reality those that cry tolerance are really only tolerant if you accept their viewpoint.

What we need are folks who will not vote for any new laws. I'd like to see someone run on a platform to only vote to repeal laws.

I had a great time this weekend, made a lot of new friends, and look forward to the next.  In honor of this, I created a few awards....    "Commando Award"- Timestepper.  Despite his crutches, Timestepper came out and showed everyone several primitive skills and held everyone's attention the whole time he spoke. "Sunburn Award"- Whitewolf001.  His arms are lobster red and will now be known as Whitewolf Red-Arms. "Wet T-Shirt Award"- Spots.  10a this morning, pouring down rain, Spots is wringing water from his hat and shirt! "Youngest Overnight Camper Award"- Bigbabysweet's daughter. Despite less than desirable conditions, several of us stayed overnight.  She was definitely a trooper for sticking it out in addition to holding UncleJak's attention in thought provoking conversation about The Little Mermaid and Aladdin.  "Oldest Overnight Camper Award"- UncleJak.  I know.....I gave myself an award.....but I was the oldest overnight camper.... "Little Mermaid Umbrella Award"- Bigbabysweets.  I guess you just had to be there for this one...  

I don't like to post faces, but in this case I have to. I started teaching my daughter how to shoot at the age of 4. We started with a suppressed .22, but she refused because daddy didn't shoot one. A suppressed AR in 300 Whisper became her trainer rifle. She killed her first and second deer at 7 with the same Whisper. Her third at eight. Last season she graduated to a suppressed 308 and killed a nice ten point. All the shots were under 200 yards. She has never shot a non suppressed rifle so I was a little nervous. I decided to take her shooting at a grand this morning. The gun is a Savage F-Class in 6mm BRX, 107 SMKs, Benchmark 30" barrel, and a 20x Leupold. The barrel was threaded and chambered by Spook and installed it about three weeks ago. The rifle belongs to a friend. My F-Class gun has a little more recoil than I want her to experience. One group is amazing and almost unbelievable, but I have video. Enjoy. Always on the prowl for storage options for loaded ammo; I was in Lowe's the other night and saw these brand new paint cans. $5 each, you can't buy an ammo can for that. So I grabbed one to play with. They seal up tight, obviously, they're mean to keep paint from drying out. An adventurous soul might even put a thin bead of RTV around the rim. Furthermore, one could smear a little paint on the outside and no one would really pay them any attention stacked in the garage. Anyway, you can get 1,115 rounds of .40 S$W in one if you take the time to stack them and add a cardboard divider between layers. People say hateful and ignorant things on the Internet under the safety of anonymity? I was not aware of this.

Depends on who reloads them. I have two G19's, one has had about 100 rounds of factory thru it while the other has never had any factory ammo. Both have over 5,000 rounds thru them. I have actually had more problems with factory ammo than reloads but I only shoot my own ammo.

They are afraid. Some people raise produce and can or freeze, some go to the grocery store.

This "gay scout" thing is another accommodation to the "balkanization" of america by those who hate the system and intend to re-write the immutable laws.  The Boy Scouts (...and others, some of them churches...) have chosen to accomodate the whims of pop culture; the current whim is "...its ok to blab and brag about your sexuality and orientation....".  I think this move is probably the death knell to the current Boy Scout organization.     I think the issue of the BSA and the church is an "apples and oranges" thing.  Heres why:  The BSA is a private, benelovent institution that teaches self-reliance and morality (... check the scout oath out here:     The "rub" here is two fold.  The first is the definition of "morality".  The "old definition" called homosexuality a perversion; hardly a morally straight condition.  The "new definition"; applied in the military and in other sectors today by our political masters , is "...its ok to be homosexual....; its simply a lifestyle choice....".   What you have here is a re-definition of morality (...endorsed by government and other interest groups eg: "...group morality...) that changes the "old definition".  "Evolution as some would say.  I wuz a boy scout myself many years ago; and i simply dont remember the issue of sexual orientation comming up as part of the "Boy Scout Way".  The reason; homosexual behavior (...as well as promiscuitous behavior...)  was considered immoral behavior that no polite society talked about; and the Boy Scouts and their supporters well understood it to be so.  There may have been those in the ranks of the BSA that were "gay" and some were probably "promiscuitous", but they were quiet.  I think that was exacly has they should have been.    This current move is nothing more than the destruction of an organization that has done much good as a sacrifice to the "god of tolerance".   In this country we are busily killing off any semblance of "biblical morality" as somehow "intolerant".  This is simply the product of the "jhadist" who whant to change the immutable rules.  "GLT" jhadism is simply the latest iteration.  My guess is that the BSA has been murdered at the hands of the jhadists and the accomodators to pop culture.   As to the church thing (...taking a stand against certain behaviors and organizations...).  It should be understood that the church is a "house of prayer" and a "haven for the lost sinner" and a non-judgmental place where the Gospel Message can be heard and accepted if the affected soul wants to be accepted into the Family of God.  God calls the lost to Salvation.  That means everybody; saint, sinner, jhadist, gay boy scouts, gay non-scouts, everybody;.... period.... .   That means that the door should be open as to salvation.  Scripture teaches (...and i believe them...) that God loves the sinner and hates the sin.   That means that all who are willing are welcome.  The correctly constituted "church" should operate on that model.  This is the "greatest outreach" of the church and the fullfillment of the "Great Commission".    There are some qualifications however.  The plain reading of scripture defines immorality in brutally plain terms.  That means that there has to be some inward changes made to the "immoral lifestyle" and the church has the duty to obey the principles of scripture.  Viewed in that light, alone, the church has the right to "turn out" individuals and organizations who do not share the values and principles that the church is founded on.   So this thing cuts both ways; the church is a "home for sinners"; but it also has a duty to  to abide by those principles outlined in scripture.   Thhis whole thing (...in my view...) has murdered the presently constituted BSA, put the church on the spot in some locations, and has given the enemies of God great occasion to blaspheme Him no matter which side of this arguement ya come down on.  The real loosers in this "rewriting of the immutable laws" are society in general, and the Boy Scouts specifically.   Thats how i see things this mornin.   leroy

I have known many gay men in my adult life, and only one ever discussed it to any significant degree.  It's not as if these people want to join the BSA and wear a dress.  The issue here is that many Scout leaders who did not discuss their sexuality and did not act inappropriately have been forced out of the organization simply based on their sexual orientation once it was discovered.

Of course, you realize that research has shown time and again that homosexual men are no more likely to assault children than anyone else.  In fact, the vast majority of child molesters identify as heterosexual in their lives and are commonly married.  Dozens of studies by psychologists, criminologists, and medical professionals have failed to show that there is any connection at all between homosexuality and child molestation.  Just because a man wants to engage in consensual sex with another man, there is no way that any honest person can extrapolate that to mean that they would want to force sex upon a child.  I'd rather have a "queer" with a good heart lead my son's Scout troop than some bigoted jerk who doesn't respect what other people do in their private lives.  

I hate it for the kids but kudos to the church. Stand for what you believe.

The horse has been beaten into burger meat in the other thread, but the only ones losing out are thy kids. If adults have their head so far up their cornhole where they they think it's a good idea to shut down an entire troop just because a homosexual young person is allowed to join without hiding their true nature, then those adults don't deserve the title of scout master. I am not surprised that some churches and even whole sects have and will  ban BSA.  My son's troop was sponsored by a church who wanted to replace the Scouts with the AWANA program.  Unfortunately for preacher, the head of the Scout Committee, had more power than he did, so Scouts stayed, along with AWANA.   I suspect that the preacher will get his way now.  I don't think it will matter much though.  The Scout Master, knowing him, has a back up plan, and some place to take his troop too.   Yes, this decision will hurt Scouting for a while, but they will recover and find more friendly churches or some secular organizations to sponsor Troops.  They will also raise more money from companies, that would not otherwise support them, because of they have change the policy baring gay scouts.   My personal belief is that sex has not part in Scouts, so regardless of whether a boy is gay or straight, it should not matter.  Also, for the person that brought up co-ed units, BSA already has that.  It's called Venture Scouts.

That's called "distended" basically the top of almost all capacitors will extend out when they blow.  The other thing is when a circuit shorts out, it will smell like band-aids so you could smell around too, but honestly unless you are risking damaging it more by messing with the stuff.   Have to ask yourself, is it worth the $50 or $60 to have someone diagnose it, or worth risking your tv to save that $50.  

What you call "perverted and unnatural acts" not even all Christendom agrees on whether they are “perverted and unnatural”. That aside, you are painting with such a broad brush that I think you'll wind up with paint on yourself. If you are going to condemn any group because of the acts/demands of a small percentage of that group who are a fringe of the whole then ALL groups, religious, Tea Party, pro-life, or any other you can think of should be condemned as well because they ALL have elements that can be just as abhorrent as the extreme you describe above.   Which has what to do with scouting not prohibiting boys who are attracted to the same sex???   Are young homosexual boys demanding anything of you or telling you that you can't express your opinion?  Are they demanding that they be allowed to engage in sex acts on scouting activities?   I draw that line at what people DO; not at what sex they find sexually attractive.  Sexual ACTIVITY has NO PLACE IN SCOUTING whether it’s homosexual sex or heterosexual acts…THAT’S where I draw the line.

Whatever you get, don't get sucked into going with a pistol grip. They look cool in the movies but not for use in the real world. My comment is not to be confused with a stock that also has a pistol grip. Those can be useful if you like that style. Nothing wrong with a regular stock on a HD shotgun. I went with a Knoxx adjustable pistol grip stock on my 870 since the factory length of pull was too long for my wife to shoulder and still be able to pump it.

I guess we need to get rid of any leader who has been divorced, ever been charged with a crime, gotten a traffic ticket (or speeds to and from BSA meetings), curses, gambles, drinks, smokes, overeats, looks at any pornographic material, doesn't pray regularly, doesn't go to church regularly (defined as little as once per week to as much as seven days per week), doesn't consistently tithe, or any other number of transgressions that doesn't fit into what one considers being "morally straight" in this world.   How about Muslims or Jews in the BSA?  Are they allowed or can they not be "morally straight" because they believe in a different religion? 

I'm sure that your argument was virtually identical a few decades ago related to non-whites who wanted to join and lead the Boy Scouts.  The history of racism within the Scouts is not a secret and many civil rights leaders and early urban gang members specifically reference their exclusion from the organization as a reason for their anger with white society.     http://www.bsa-discrimination.org/html/bsa_-_race.html  

So I own two Glock 19's. One a gen 2 since the early 90's. While browsing the Glock website I found they would replace all internals for free. And would also refinish the slide for $45. They even upgrade the frame if you desire. So I shipped my Glock 19 to Georgia and wrote them a check to upgrade the frame and refinish the slide. Total cost to me $154. Glock customer service called and asked if it would be ok if they just replaced the gun with a new one. I was shocked and said hell yes! It shipped with 2 new mags in box...the works.   When I got it back 8 business days later I got the bright idea to sell it and maybe try something new. I'm so invested in trigger time and familiarity with this firearm and pleased with the service I'm keeping it. Just thought I'd share.   great weapon, great service.

Why would you do that? Why couldn't you simply state that you're a proud father of an eagle scout and you were happy to help him along the way. Does the fact that the BSA changed their policies cheapen the hard work and dedication it takes to become an eagle scout? This doesn't make sense to me. It's only "forcing" or "indoctrination" when it involves anything related to evangelical Christianity. But when gays or any other group do the same thing, then all they're doing is "exercising their rights". Go figure. PC is killing our society.

Well, no, actually they didn't. The policy they changed wasn't adopted until about 1980; at least for someone my age that's pretty recent history. How anyone feels about the change is completely up to them. At the same time, I would suggest that it would best to make sure we have our facts correct about the BSA's history before we go making claims about it. ;)

Fellas, I'm a lesbian (like any male) and to be honest, if people get butt hurt because a institution doesn't want to participate in their silly games, you know what, move along and find your own damn group of like minded individuals. This isn't just about Christians, gays, BSA, it's something in general that is happening across the board here in the USA. People need to start growing thick skins, don't like a comment, deal with it. The PC crowd has turned majority of the US into pussies..    People criticize institutions and make them look evil using the media, but what they are doing is just, they don't want to participate in the social experiment and have every right not to. BSA chose their bed and not they need to sleep in it.  

Of course there are.  There are fewer now than 20 years ago but to deny that differences in rights exist is to chose to be uninformed.   One simple example...a homosexual couple that has been together for decades; one of the couple is suddenly taken ill and in intensive care.  Without an immediate family member to give "permission" or a hospital staffer willing to break the rules, the partner will have a hell of time getting in to see their partner. There are most certainly inheritance/financial/tax and other similar and significant difference between heterosexual and homosexual partners (even heterosexual partners that never actually married each other).   While many of the rights and privileges of "marriage" can be either duplicated or simulated through legal contracts, etc...much of the dichotomy between the two is a result of government inserting itself into the process; something that in my opinion, the government has no place inserting itself in the first place.

I have been a Seventh Day Adventist my entire life, my parents were Pathfinder leaders for 30 years.  I had a great experience during my time as a Pathfinder.  The clubs are co-ed and I think start at age 10.  They also have the Adventurers that I believe covers ages 5-9.  Like the Boy Scouts, Pathfinders is an excellent opportunity to get your kids off the couch.  They earn honors, go camping and do community service.  I am not sure there is a club in Columbia or not, I would start by located the SDA church in town.  I know that there are several active clubs here in the Chattanooga area.   Some smaller churches do not have them but most churches do.

Of course the BSA has the right to exclude - the BSA chose not to do so. Regardless of they hype, no one forced the BSA to change its policy; a policy that was actually, adopted rather recently in its history. Certainly, pressure was brought to bear on the BSA, pressure form specific special interest groups as well as practicalities (meaning corporate sponsors, other organizations, etc) who would no longer support the BSA if it maintained its no gay boys policy. However, it WAS the BAS (and a majority of its membership) who DECIDED to change.   Some have claimed that with the policy change, the BSA has violated some closely held traditional moral value and/or core religious belief yet a review of the BSA's own documents and statements of principles doesn't bear that out. Moreover, if this moral principle against homosexual boys was truly some core value of the BSA then why change?  A person's or an organization's "core values" are pretty meaningless and I would suggest, never really a core value at all, if we succumb to pressure to abandon them.   This isn't about sex in the BSA as there should never be ANY sexual activity allowed or tolerated in the BSA in the first place regardless of whether it's same sex or opposite sex. This is about one group's feelings about homosexuality vs another groups feelings and the BSA in the middle of it.

It goes both ways. I empathize with both sides of the issue and see many of the arguments made by the most vocal on either side as ridiculous. If folks really believed in "live and let live" in regard to this issue there would be zero conflict.

Just a few of them though, right? Is there a chance that we hear bad cop stories more in the news because it garners more interest from readers as opposed to a headline stating that Officer Joe executed his duties appropriately and with respect to the citizen? Isn't this the tactic we blame the media for in regard to always running stories depicting gun use in a bad light and ignoring stories of justified self defense?

I don't think getting set up for a good amount is the problem. The problem as I see it is that there were too many people caught with their pants down who are for whatever reason willing to pay scalped prices on what should be an inexpensive, readily available commodity. I did not get caught with my pants down in regard to .22, I've got plenty. I still plan on buying more as it come available and I also don't care if people have a problem with that.

My father bought me a Ruger Single Six with two cylinders from Wal Mart for my birthday when I was a teenager. I still have it, and it's still in the box.

  I don't agree with a homosexual lifestyle, but wouldn't kick a kid out for being gay, but also don't think it should be an open issue. The Boy Scouts is a moral based organization that includes God & prayer in their activities, but doesn't push any particular religion or form of hatred toward others. What has made me upset is that they want people to be openly gay & make us say that it's alright. Next, they will want to ban prayer & the Pledge of Allegiance. I know kids have been in the troop that were gay & they were treated like everyone else. As long as it's not discussed & doesn't have an effect on the activities of the troop, I could care less. The reason I'm there is for the kids that have broken & abusive homes, get picked on in school, have social problems & need leadership. I've seen some truely hurt kids that needed the BSA & opening up discussions on whether they're gay or not shouldn't be part of the plan. There's a lot more to the BSA than camp fires & sleeping in tents.

This is just anther reason why I don't believe in warning shots.

There is no shortage of stupid people out there buying guns and ammo! Who would buy a $900 AK? The same guy that would shell out $100 for a brick of .22's. It's all do to people who sat on the fence to long and didn't buy when there was a good supply and now are "panic" buying. There is no shortage of guns, ammo or magazines out there, the problem is to many people are willing to pay 2x, 3x &4x the amount of what it's worth. It's a sellers market out there at this time and anyone getting in the game today better know what their doing or have very deep pockets. Just my :2cents:
