  1.   Could be a "1861 pocket police cylinder"... It wasn't unusual for these percussion revolvers, especially the "well used" ones to have extra cylinders or orphaned cylinders from another revolver... The lanyard loop is interestin too... It may have been added by an old time gunsmith...They were popular round the ww1 era...    Remember, many of these old percussion revolvers were regularly used up into the 1930's...  They were (...and still are...) accurate, relatively dependable, and deadly in the right hands...    I tend to think that Spots has found a "real, original" navy with a maverick cylinder...   The area in which it wuz found (....Oliver Springs area...) was no stranger to strife and trouble from civil war times right up thru the 1930's...Lots of veterans came home to places like Oliver Springs after the civil war; and lots of people were armed because of the old time coal mine labor troubles that followed like at Coal Creek... Most everybody was armed in that vicinity; and they knew how to use those arms if they needed to;.... lots of their sons and daughters them still do today... thankfully...   leroy

  9.   They are not scared of us in the least, because We the People keep re-electing them over and over again.  We need to do away with career politicians that become so powerful, they are almost unstoppable.  I really wish the state would get together for a Constitutional Convention, and impose term limits on Congress.  Not going to happen, though.

  14. Obama is not delusional, he only appears that way because his agenda is so different from most of us that it defies logic. Everything he does is for a reason. Take this move, the first thing that comes to mind is, give the NRA what they want, put the guards there. The next time a shooting still happens even with an officer there, he will say, "see we tried your idea, it didn't work, now we need to try my way". Just edited for an additional thought. What better way to start getting kids to get used to our ever increasingly move toward becoming a police state.

  17. As expected, the show ******* rocked! It was 90% concert, 10% movie. They played most of the popular songs. Much of the camera/3D work made you feel as if you were on stage with the band. I left wanting to punch someone in the mouth. I'd see it again.

  18. I've loaded the Federal paper hulls and they were great. I loaded all of my ribbed Remington hulls and gave them to my kids for Christmas, told them to NOT pick up and save the hulls for me - I'm done with them. Winchester AA only for me. I bought 1000 AA hulls from a skeet range years ago and still have a lot left. Most can be reloaded 4 times.

  19. So I was installing a water line today at a very old, backwoods house and dug up something intresting. Its an 1851 Colt Navy pattern cap and ball. I disassembled it to a degree at lunch, it is complete except for the grips. Just thought Id share the coolest thing I ever dug up. My guess is its a reproduction, but not sure how to tell. It was a good 2 ft in the ground. Tapatalk ate my spelling.

  20. Kwik cash pawn in Lebanon is having a major auction of several hundred firearms on 9/28 at 10am. I saw the gun list today and there's a ton of nice stuff. From pistols including sigs and Glocks, lots of shotguns and rifles and a couple of c&r rifles too. The auction info should be up on the Agee auction site soon http://www.ageeandjohnsonauctions.com/

  24. You don’t need it expunged if it was dismissed. Yes, it can be expunged. Tennessee does not recognize expungements to restore gun rights. I don’t know if the feds do.   If you are worried about losing the HCP $125 + cost of class; apply for a C&R license; costs $30 and you will know.

  30. If your wife is intimidated by a 12 gauge the muzzle blast of most AR's will also be a problem. It isn't about recoil, it is about the concussive blast for a lot of shooters. If it must be an AR I would find one in 9mm. They are identical to a 223 as far as controls but are a lot easier to shoot. With the extra barrel length it gives the 9mm 357 magnum type performance. And because it is a blowback gun it will be a lot more reliable. My wife has one that has over 9K rounds through it so far and it is supremely reliable. We have it zeroed for 100 yards and it remains within a couple of inches from the muzzle to that distance. It is still point and shoot out to 150 yards.   As far as a 9mm carbines go there are plenty out there, Beretta even makes one called the Storm. There are also a lot of other brands that work just as well but are not nearly as nice to look at. There are even some that are magazine compatible with popular pistol brands like Glock or Beretta. So you can have your Glock pistol and use the same magazines in your defensive rifle. Keltec makes the Sub 2000 that used to be really cheap. It is a great bare bones gun that would work well in a defensive role if you can find one reasonably priced.   Shooting a 223 inside is LOUD and can be very disorientating if you do not have hearing protection. 9mm is not hearing safe but it is not going to cause the same problems as a 223 does. Another consideration is muzzle flash, depending on ammo type. A 9mm rifle has very little, if any, muzzle blast while a 223 can have basketball sized muzzle flash if using certain ammo.   If you must have a 223 AR I would not be afraid of Windham, Bushmaster or Sig. They can all be bought at Walmart for under $1,000 depending on model. S&W also makes a great gun called the Sport that would easily fill your needs. It can usually be found for under $800 if you look around some.

  31.   Please, give me a break! I hope you're saying that sarcastically!   Had these morons any balls of their own they would not have voted with Harry Reid for cloture. They knew exactly what was going to happen when voting to end debate, it's the same crap we always get from pantie wastes in the RINO party. They also knew their vote against the stripped bill wouldn't amount to a hill of beans, other than a great one liner for the next election campaign. "hey look everybody, I voted to defund obamacare" kiss my a** you did!   These morons don't give a d*** about anything but their own skin. They bowed down to the party bosses. The national party bosses and the TN party bosses, and I'm just gonna tell you, those bosses don't give a crap about you and me. It's all about power and what they can do to keep it. McCain said "we need to focus our attention against democrats, and not republicans" hell man there's no difference, we've got to fight both of them!   If you knew what you were going to get before you started, why go there? "Ok fellow RINOs, here's the plan... so we vote to end debate, then we'll vote yes to strip out the obamacare funding, ok, that should work, got it?"   What, are they so stupid that they can't even count! My word, it only takes a simple majority and they ain't got the votes for it. Is that stupid or what? For people in the real world yes it's stupid. But not for RINOs, no. They never planned to have any affect on the bill to start with. They quit caring about the people that put them in office a long time ago. They have no inkling about who they serve or what purpose they are there for. Once inside the beltway their allegiance turns to "The Party." And the party has a huge influence over everything they do, and everything they do is first for the party, and second or third for the people of the Great State of Tennessee. And we may even be farther down the line than that!   /rant off

  37. If you want a  "mid range" $1000-1200 AR for $800-900, get a stripped lower, parts kit, buffer./stock assembly and find a complete upper, like from Palmetto State Armory when then run their sales. Matter of fact PSA is good for all the parts really -- watch for blem sales.   If you want a complete quality rifle you can for sure depend on with a factory warranty on whole gun, buy one of the Colt or Smith and Wesson models from Walmart in the $1,00-1300 range. Although a lesser priced Windham Weaponry, DPMS, or Bushmaster from there will suffice just fine for most folks and will likely kill near about as many zombies  before MTBF as the Colt/S&W, but the snobs will dis it. :)   - OS

  39. The extent of my leeway given to the Two Tools from Tennessee is that they only voted YES to end debate and allow the bill to proceed to a final vote, just like all the other R's mentioned.   The final vote was 54-44 with the TTT twins voting against.  The two missing votes are from Republicans.  Guess they can now say they had nothing to do with any of it.  http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=113&session=1&vote=00209   Same silly, stupid crap those two pulled on the last gun control bill earlier this year.

  45. I run a Lee on a drill and it isn't bad at all. I will say that the locking ring can be a pain to get tight sometimes so I added a small handle to it to give me a little more leverage. I drilled a hole in the side of the locking ring then drilled it, tapped it and installed a screw. It lets me get it tight now with the additional leverage.
