  1. It's not an insult, it's just an observation. And Robert if you had paid any attention to my previous post, you would had noticed the portion where I had stated that there was a substantial percentage of the population who have this particular way of thinking & that it was pointless to argue, debate or try to compromise with folks who have the "authoritative mindset" because the more law & order there is, the more comfortable they feel. This sort of deeply entrenched "authoritative mindset" is rampant on both sides of the political aisle (because it is rampant in our population at large) and always seems to manifest itself in the politics & ideology of both the Repub & Dem political party's, resulting ultimately in pieces of legislation after pieces of legislation, generation after generation being passed which constantly/ceaselessly infringes on the social chaos that is created by freedom & liberty. Law & order is diameterically opposed with freedom & liberty, the more of one, the less of the other, you cannot have both complete law & order as well as complete freedom & liberty. And a balance cannot be struck somewhere in the middle because of the vast number of folks (who have an authoritiative mindset) who are uncomfortable with any sort of social chaos that is created when other folks are free & at liberty to do whatever the heck they want, whenever the heck they want to do it. This is the source of tyranny, this is the dragon that must be slain.

  2. I think people may be underestimating how vulnerable they are in the event of a surprise attack both in terms of the ability to execute the attack and the effect it will/can have.   In a city, particularly a busy one, it's hard not to have people in your personal space and in your blind spot. Also, when an attack occurs, your reflexes will not be primed to help absorb/roll with the blow.   With that being said, maintain as much awareness as possible, be suspicious of anything out of the ordinary, and like Bersaguy says, eye contact and don't look like a victim.

  4. Sadly, I believe our elections are probably as corrupt as any in the world. I can't imagine Reid (who was reelected after a mysterious power outage in Las Vegas) would do such a thing without the king's guarantee that the libs would keep the Senate. Just another reason to abolish the 17th amendment.

  5. Only 22 current Democrats in the Senate have ever been in minority.  Funny how this might be used against them in a year or so.   I can't figure out the motivation for them to do this right now.   Further evidence that the DNC has never met a sure thing they can't find a way to screw up.

  7. Nonsense, I don’t get out of my vehicle and start chasing people just because they don’t look like they belong in my neighborhood. If I did, I wouldn’t be shocked when I was arrested; its assault. I don’t pull guns and threaten women and I don’t live with women that would call the cops on me. So any of this happening to me….. not a chance.

  8. I posted this because I hear about some people having issues with their local gun stores and I wanted to write something positive about mine. I recently missed out on the purchase of a Remington 870 Magpul at another LGS. I called Chance this morning, and not only was he able to quickly locate the shotgun, he also saved me a pile of money over what I was going to pay at another store. To show my support, I spent most of what I saved on ammo. I can say without a doubt that Halfpint takes care of me every time that I visit Classic Arms for a purchase or transfer. Good guy!

  9. I really believe limiting what people can do with property they own is a gross infringement of a natural right unless you can show real harm.   I believe we can work things out without the needing the government to use force to enforce agreements between neighbors.   If I do something on my property that harms you, take me to court and recover damages.  The problem is most of the restrictions in place via zoning laws, and frankly between other local ordinances would be completely unenforceable if that was the standard because in the vast majority of enforcement actions there is NO HARM.   Be honest, you like it the government uses force to make your neighbors use their property how you see fit, and you use the possibility of some harm that could theoretically happen as the justification for infringing on their right.   You also have to keep in mind that our founders never imagined a world where every possible square inch of land was incorporated and there would be no escape from these petty tyrants.

  12.  Pretty much what Mike said, they already have enough rope to hang themselves from but figure if they get enough slack they might can tie some loops to grasp onto so they don't hang by their necks. If only we had a media that was willing to do it's job. If we had that one thing... we would be in a totally different situation. Not only would Obama never have been relected but his lies would have been uncovered and broadcast during the beginning of his first term limiting what he would have been able to get done. There's a lot of things that would make our situation better, hell almost anything would be better but I think a non partisan media is at the top of that list. They are supposed to be our link and without that we are steered where ever they want us. This deal should never have been allowed to happen.

  16. I was just posting the clip cause of other statements made about possibly profiling the wrong person to attack. That was all. True of the taser would have worked properly the story wouldn't have played out the way it did. The only thing that can prevent this is to be aware of your surroundings. Also if/when you can have a buddy. Also don't put yourself into a situation where this could be an issue.   Be polite, be professional, but have a plan..... James Mattis

  17. Folks; im continually amazed at what i read here...   The fact is that we have an adversarial court system in this country; and that ya are "...innocent until proven guilty..."; and must be indicted for felonious crimes upon a "True Bill" from the grand jury; except when ya are in florida; which i think is a perversion of the law by the florida state attorney that should be addressed...     No one has conferred sainthood on the Z-Man here; and i doubt that any of us would want the "Z-Man" as an in-law or even a distant relative...   He is, in fact, foolish in my view; and that is bein pretty charitable with the adjectives and descriptors here.... All that bein said; he is still a citizen of the good ole usa and the state of florida  and he has, in fact, been given a trial by his peers in which he wuz found "not guilty"...  The state's attorney decided not to appeal this case because they full-well knew it couldn't go anywhere; and there are plenty of folks that think (...includin me...) that he shouldnt have been tried to begin with...   The fact is that Trayvon Martin wuz a dammed thug that got exactly what he asked for... Martin is being used in death to further the political ambitions of Ben Crump on the national scene, to assuage the pain of grieving and doting parents in a sad attempt at semi-deifying and conferring sainthood on a thug son, and to feather the nests of some sorry florida politicians (...democrats and republicans...) to curry the black vote in florida and on the national scene...   The fact is, that this whole thing was never about justice for anyone from the beginning... It was about furthering political agendas on a local, state and national level... Ray Charles (...if he wuz still down on the earth with us...) could see that...   Zimmerman is being painted as a "stone cold killa" (...which, by the way, is what i think Trayvon wanted to be...) who has cheated the system; when nothing could be farther from the truth...  He was, in fact, found innocent of a crime by a jury of his peers in the state of florida, and we (...as well as others have to accept that verdict, even Eric Holder has had to accept it; look who he is....)  I think the truth is that he is a nondescript little guy with some problems that have become very public because of the political head-hunting that is goin on... To not bee able to see that, smacks of some real need for some fairness and common sense calibration of your intuitive judgement glasses....   Everyone here can rest assured that the Z-Man will be tried and tried again until he is jailed in florida because that is, apparently, what the political apparatchiks in the state government want... It doesn't have a dammed thing to do with guilt or innocence; and has everything to do with political pandering of the worst sort; up to, and most possibly including the bribing of par-amours and gold diggin harpys by those interested in feathering their political nests...    I say, if the citizens for florida like that kind of political class persecution and hounding; keep votin for the sons and daughters of satan who are doin them dirty things... I've got friends who moved from the very area that his circus is goin in because of this very sort of thing...   On a personal basis, i could care less about what they do in florida... I'm beginnin to believe it is a separate banana republic type country anyway... The carpetbaggers and racebaiters are busy destroying what wuz a pretty good place to live...   All of us on both sides of this little "discussion" about george zimmerman need to get down on our knees and thank Providence that we dont have a states's prosecutor like Angela Corey and a millionaire political zealot like Ben Crump in this state to do these sorts of things...It was once said that "...citizens get the government they deserve..."... We better hope that we don't get what the citizenry of florida have gotten on this one...   I say "...let there be a pox on both houses..." of those who want to keep on tryin george zimmerman in the court of public opinion... Ya better be worried that this sort of justice doesnt come to a place near you... The hide ya save may be your own...  I say, dont be guilty of the things that the political operatives and apparatchiks of florida are clearly guilty of.... Hounding and continually harassing an unpopular and, quite possibly very foolish little man over and over until ya get the result (...and verdict...) ya want...   That aint justice folks; it's the ultimate injustice... It's nothin more than a re-dux of post civil war reconstruction politics where white (...and nearly white...) folks are being persecuted because of their color; and where black folks are being deified because of their color; all for the sake of politics... The whole dammed thing is offensive to me; and it should be to you as well...   leroy

  18. There is a big difference between folks who believe he is innocent and folks who want to believe he is innocent. Even I, who hold the opinion he went looking for trouble, believe that there was not enough evidence in the end for a conviction, or even a charge for that matter. However, folks here and elsewhere in the gun owning community have professed their belief that Zimmerman is a great guy they would support on a personal level. He is a sociopath. Anyone with common sense can see that. The only way to believe otherwise is to believe that all these people unrelated to one another just have it out for him... like the woman who accused him of years of sexual abuse, or the girlfriend that accused him of physical abuse, or the 17 year old who he shot, or the cop that accused him of drunken assault, or the wife who accused him of abuse or the recent girlfriend who accused him of physical abuse and him holding her at gunpoint. It adds up and paints a picture that most sane people can see clearly.

  22. These kids are not 100% stupid.  I would say the video footage is probably only a fraction what is going one, but I observed.  Kids in a group, attack a lone person walking opposite.  What appears to be a woman, sucker punched from behind, goes down like a pancake.  Only situational awareness gives one the edge, not the gun.  They'll pass by the one that is aware and choose the one trying to update his Facebook as he/she walks down the street.

  23. (Based on raising two boys to adulthood and being  a retired High School teacher)   Ghetto kids do this kind of crap. White boys play football and rape high school girls.   Sorry , but I have bad news for all the of those that believe this is a race thing. It is a matter of age. The average teenage boy is undergoing terrible hormone changes, all of which affect his thinking processes. In some kids it is more pronounced than in others . Many teen-agers , not all, but many, would fall under the DSM diagnosis of Psychotic at any given time. In many cases it is simply a matter of better parents or better peers (social crowd) that keep them from going over the deep end. This is why it is so easy for gangs to recruit members, especially from single parent homes and rough neighborhoods. As adults, especially in highly visible positions such as politics and entertainment are openly using drugs and lying and cheating on a regular basis their are no "good models" to provide balance. Bad kids come out of a bad society, and our society sucks right now!

  24. Y'all are going to be disappointed in that vest.    I know the price is attractive, but a lot of the "tactical vests" on the market today are overblown photojournalist vests that they ran in ACU instead of khaki.   It might be okay if the only time you're going to put it on is when you take out the trash and then promptly go back inside, but wear it longer than that and you'll be disappointed.  The craftsmanship, fit, adaptability and durability of that vest are lacking.   If you're looking for a vest, it's worth the money to get an actual MOLLE equipped plate carrier that you can customize when you figure out that the placement of all those magazines, Twinkies and whatever else you strap on there isn't to your liking.  Or, if you're not going to use all that real estate to actually carry armor, you might consider a good belt and some mag carriers like HSGI makes.

  25. Excellent video and a sound argument for "doing the right thing". We have to follow our own moral compass.   If I am forced to shoot someone (I pray that never happens), it is not to kill them...but to halt their violent aggressive action. After that, when I am confident the scene is safe enough, I will render care. It's my choice and my plan.   The other point is to have the gear available and accessible for self-care, or to be used by someone else to treat you. I keep a "mini-BOK" in my right hip pocket. It contains a TQ, Emergency bandage, and a small PriMed gauze (for wound packing). I keep what Yeager describes as their VOK, of my own making, in my rangebag, in my auto's, in my GHB, and rifle cases.   Way back before dirt was invented and I was a Corpsman, I made sure all of the young Marines in my charge had identical med gear in a known location, on their persons, and damn well made sure that each of them knew the what, where, and how of it.   It's just common sense. And it is good to hear it being discussed.   Disclaimer: I am an RN (ER) and long ago had EMT Creds and I have stopped at many, many MVC's (car wrecks) over the years and given care. I have never once been threatened with a lawsuit.   Thanks for posting the vid Robert.   Self Care and Buddy Care should be as much a part of our training and practice as shooting holes in things.  Just my unsolicited and ever devaluing $.02 worth.

  27. As a Georgian who goes to Tennessee daily, I can only offer my moral support to the cause (I really hate that the local governments can prohibit carrying in their parks; makes me feel so safe).   In regard to the sign law--I know that once a law is passed, it is very difficult to abolish, but it might be easier to change.  I hate that signs can make me an instant criminal just because I walked in without seeing it.  I recently took the South Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit class.  One of the interesting things was their sign law.  The short summary is that signs carry weight in South Carolina.  However, it appears that their pro-carry group, as part of the compromise, managed to get such specific sign requirements, that very few places have the proper sign.  Without the proper sign, carrying there is not a crime.   Their sign law specifies the font, the height of the letters, the specific dimensions of the sign, the specific placement of the sign (the maximum and minimum heights above ground at all entrances); it even specifies exactly what the gunbuster symbol must look like (must have the slash running from lower left to upper right, for example).  For a park or other place without doors to be posted, the sign must be huge (3 ft x 4 ft) and located very few hundred feet around the perimeter.  It has half a page of specifics.  If any of these particulars are not met, then it is not properly posted.   Knowing that I read on this board that some official had given an opinion that a person in Tennessee might still be prosecuted even if the sign was not "correct," I asked the instructor if there was anything similar in South Carolina.  He re-iterated that if the sign was wrong, then only the regular trespassing statute applies (like in Georgia).  He showed us lots of signs and pointed out some very tiny details that made them invalid.  It really seems like they tried hard to make it difficult to comply with the sign law.  He said there are some places with proper signs (Goodwills, I think?), and that there is a guy who specializes in selling proper signs.  Obviously someone who has a vague notion that "signs carry weight" in South Carolina might be intimidated and not carry into a place without proper signage, but they seem to have less worry over there about breaking that particular law.  South Carolina has a bunch of other screwy laws, though.   So although repealing the sign law in Tennessee would be ideal, neutering it might be an alternative.

  28. You wouldn't draw & shoot some thug who was trying to taze you with a tazer? Personally I consider that a very serious "precurser" of an attempt to cause SBI or death, what possible reason would the thug have to try to instantly incapacitate someone else if not to commit other crimes against that person such as rob, rape, assault, kidnap or even possibly to murder them?

They travel in groups so I would call them out to try it again and once they are facing me the ball is in my court. At that point is when they would learn that I am armed and I would give them a choice of getting down on their knees and waiting for police or trying to see if they are faster than a speeding bullet. I am not saying I am superman or anything like that but it would take a really good punch to take me totally out unless they hit me with something besides their fist. I'm guessing they might be using brass knuckles or other device as watching the videos the person struck goes down really hard but that is..................jmho

From the way I was told, the CLEO by law must sign your paperwork, some of them decided not to sign or for whatever other reasons, the end resulted was law suits being filed against the city/counties over this..     I have kind of a funny story about my CLEO: I tried for a couple days to contact him every time I called he was out of the office, I stopped by my C3 dealer they knew where he was, it happen to be an election year and he was out campaigning, he was at our local annex building on a meet and greet mission, I meet him with a pair of F4's he signed them (he was smiling, I ask why and he said so that's what a subpoena feels like..LOL), shook his hand and he called over to the jail to let them know I was headed that way for finger prints..

If you aint there to be smacked; they aint gonna smack ya...   I'm a relatively old geezer now; and one good punch would probably finish me off... Welp unfortunately there seems to be a substantial percentage the American People who no have absolutely no desire to dwell in the chaos that is liberty & freedom, prefering instead the much calmer serenity of authoritarianism. Because of this they cannot be reasoned with or begged for compromise, they have no desire to be "free" themselves & thus will not allow individual-minded people like you or your children to be "free" to cause any chaos within their calm, comfortable collective.

  48. A little thread necromancy here but I didn't want to start another "Gander Mountain sucks" thread when there were already a few here.   I went in this morning to look at a Beretta 20 gauge O/U shotgun. I stood at the gun counter for about five minutes. The sales guy is standing and watching another sales guy help the only other customers at the gun counter. Finally he looks up and says "#34, customer #34". I look around to make sure there is no one else there then kind of give him a "hey bud, no one's here but me" look. He looks away from me and in a loud voice says "If you'd like help at the firearms counter please take a number and wait to be called". Surprisingly I didn't wait. In fairness to that jackass though he saved me a good bit of money. When I got home I called Whittaker's in Kentucky and they had the same shotgun for several hundred dollars less.   Screw Gander Mountain.
