Many thanks to Dolomite for the firearms related item that he gave to me as a gift...and paid to ship it to me! Really made me feel good that there was a fellow gun enthusiast, that freely gave something, and didn't expect anything in return! Just proves that there still are some generous people, that will do something nice for someone else, just to do it without any personal profit motive. Thank you Dolomite...and if we're ever at one of my lunch places, at the same time, lunch is on me. Here's wishing you and yours the very best for the New Year ahead of us. Sidewinder4 points

My update, called Cabela's and they have replacement processing before I even send this one back, and no charge to use their return label. - OS3 points

I apologize in advance, since this sounds like I'm splitting hairs, but this is 100% the fault of CT citizens: First, they elected these buffoons to office and second, the gun owners in that line are not there against their will, there's UHaul trucks in CT too. I'd like to think we just have better sense at the poll than CT, but I mostly believe that we are just more like-minded here in TN. We're lucky to have fewer hand-wringing ninnies than they have. If you find yourself in unsavory company, you run them off or you leave. Those poor gunowners up there that didn't move when they law was passed bent over and took it, voluntarily.3 points

After a lot of looking, I've finally got my hands on a 'Dream Rifle' I've wanted one for ages, but never been in a position to be able to buy or trade into a good condition Savage '99. I've seen & handled many, but they were never as good as I was led to believe, or crazy expensive. Every time Gregg posted a photo of his, I wept a little with envy. I now own my very own! It's a 1946 model 99EG in .300Savage & I couldn't be happier!2 points

TDR and KKing...thank you both for the comments you made. I appreciate them. I was in no way trying to argue or convert you, and I think you know this; but just wanted to be perfectly clear about it. This was a good open discussion on something that I really believe others might ask about, just as I myself was curious about it. So we accomplished something good.2 points

My bet is that the targeted audience would most likely buy a $500 camouflage Mossberg than a camo $3000 Benelli. ;)2 points

Guess what? Won me a BNIB Glock 19 Gen 3 on a raffle! Never won anything in my entire life except a few "free" tickets buying instant lottery scratch offs now and then. Been waiting my entire life for Dick Clark and Ed McMan to show up on my door step! Already have a nice Glock 19 Gen 3, with True Glow TFO sights, a Talon grip, a 3-1/2 pound trigger, the hole plug for the handle and my "Infidel" slide plate cover, so... Made a nice down payment for a Glock 26 and now to dress that one up too.2 points

Back when I was an Army SEAL sniper I used a matching numbers SKS to take down an enemy sniper at a thousand yards. He was driving a '71 shortbed. Strange coincidence huh? *sorry, can't tell you any more about it, it's classified.2 points

I can't believe they so willingly stood in line to register they arms and magazines. I have friends there and they are terrified of Bloomberg and his Safe act. They easily and willingly stood in line this week to register their guns. Just wait for the police to start kicking doors on those who didn't though. What a terrible breaking of constitutional law. Damn them.1 point

Again, you're assuming every situation is going to allow for a proper full grip on the weapon. If it means life or death, I don't care if the only part of my body touching the gun is my trigger finger, I'm pulling the trigger.1 point

Lumber_Jack, that was my intent and not too clear. Thanks for the clarity. I like the looks of the R51 but I'll wait for a while on this one. I jumped on a couple of guns in their first production run and wasn't real happy.1 point

Yep, from GunBlast, "The R51 is constructed of aluminum and steel; no polymer frame on this one." http://www.gunblast.com/Remington-R51.htm Really looks like a nifty heater, for sure. - OS1 point

The mistake that most people understandably make is thinking that Sears is a retail outlet. They are not. They are a credit card operation. Their money is made from their credit cards, which is why they (almost) always ask, "Can I put this on your Sears card for you?" Once you understand that, you will understand where their motivation comes from. I no longer shop at Sears either because they pretty much peddle junk nowadays. I can get junk cheaper elsewhere.1 point

I think you are painting with an awfully broad brush. Yes; everyone should do what they can to protect their rights (assuming they care about them in the first place) but everyone also has to decided what is best for them and their family; maybe that will be staying and fight or maybe that will be leaving to find a better place to live. I see the process as being no different than deciding whether to eat or not eat at a particular "posted" restaurant...the right decision for one person may be wrong for another. Once a state has reached the destination of NY and CT I think it's probably time to get out because I suspect they are much too far gone to be saved...better to let them wallow in their own liberal sewage.1 point

Bloomy started it. I think he's been after this for for a few years. cuomo is to blame. But that damn Bloomy has the money to personally help fund this crap. Either way, I don't see TN residents caving so easily. There would be an uprising.1 point

I wish I could be that way when selling items but I have an issue of when I am selling anything I point out all the flaws it has and then let the person make a decision if they want to buy it or not. I was taught as a child that your reputation is who you are and I want folks to leave my home with a good taste in their mouth if they have purchased something from me that I told them if the item had any issues I didn't hide them............jmho1 point

I have to agree w/you Bersa. Memory is too cheap to assume all those searches are deleted. I know they are legally required to delete them. But seems like legal requirements are merely guidelines lately. If the NSA can monitor the entire verizon network, facebook, and google. It's not beyond logic they they monitor the TICS system as well. Crap where is my tin foil hat....1 point

I think all those estimates are too high, myself. 1. permits per household is pretty shaky stat, for a variety of reasons, and of course, percentage of total population is too. You really need to know the number of >21 year olds vs permits, and that would give you the most accurate number. That available from last census? 2. Is that 449,419 permits simply all permits ever issued? If so, the actual number of current ones would be significantly lower due to deaths, non-renewals, folks moving out of state, etc. 3. No accurate statistics, but I'd posit just from what folks say about their carry habits, that half or less of all permit holders are likely to be packing at any given time. Indeed, I'd posit that at least 25% never carry at all on their person. etc. - OS1 point

I got no beef with Amazon. I understand how the game works and as far as no sales tax goes, it was good while it lasted.1 point
-
Joe Average needs to understand that Amazon now has distribution centers in Tennessee. They are a TN business. Ergo, TN residents must pay sales tax. Joe Average also needs to be aware of who he votes for. Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker are huge supporters of Internet sales tax. Thanks to them you'll soon start paying taxes on all online purchases, regardless of the origin, and it will not be voluntarily.1 point
