  1. I just flagged an ad on Armslist for overpriced .22 ammo and got the "the community has spoken, this ad has been rejected" message. Choke on it, reseller scum.

  2. Sounds like they are making these rules retroactively. This is the reason why HOAs are awful. They sound great in theory, but then they end up being another government organization that takes your money and make judgements that suit only their own interests, not the payee. The people that run this HOA company should be hung for their attempts at violating these people. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  5. I have friends in most of the states. Got nothing to do with Yankees and Rebels. It's about liberalism, and what happens when a bunch of those psychotic assholes show up in the same place. It's not just something that I despise, it's something that's downright scary. We have had a few new folks show up this weekend from deep in communist America.   Now, it's not unusual for the folks on this forum to give the new guy a few pokes to see what he's made of. From what I have seen, we wound up with 3 keepers, and one that got all butt hurt and picked up his toys.    If somebody shows up sporting an Obama bumper sticker, somebody is gonna piss on their windshield... doesn't matter where they're from. For example, I'm a huge supporter of the folks in CT that refuse to register their AR's. In fact, I look up to them.   Being a bunch of folks that play with guns, with lots of Feinstein's favorites mixed in, some folks may play a little rough. If it's too much to handle, there's always ARFCOM... the kinder, gentler gun forum :)

  6.   This was exactly my first thought when I heard the news. I was there when some of his "followers" came to my town a few years ago to protest because five local high school cheerleaders burned to death in a car crash. For more than a week before the protest, Westboro made dozens of online posts about how the teenage girls were all burning in hell for being "sluts & whores" trying to get media attention along with making people angry. About 250 pissed off citizens (some of them armed & carrying bats) showed up. Our county sheriff already had S.W.A.T. & members of the TN Highway Patrol on hand because of the huge number of death threats posted toward the Westboro church members. The terrified Westboro church members got out of their van, formed a circle & said a short quiet prayer & then quickly got back into their van & drove straight out of town. I can only hope his cult quickly follows him into oblivion. Good riddance!

  7. No offense but the Civil War is over. And since then the American people have fought many other war's as one Nation. WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam...the list goes on.  The pity is that so many American's had to die for their political beliefs at home way back then. However, we are united as a Nation and will continue to do so to protect our shores.    Our biggest challenge is not the Russians but the modern American politician who is representing themselves and not the people of the USA.

According to Scott’s grandfather Joe Scott, his grandson suffered an event at age three that left him with post traumatic stress disorder."   Gee, I reckon that makes it all OK.     I'm sure all of us who have experienced what Teddy Roosevelt called "that crowded hour" will completely and thoroughly understand the poor young fellow and he will now be a source of inspiration to all of us combat vets.   NOT!

  15.       I like Yankees!  They are the only people who talk funnier than us Southerners. I work with a fellow from Boston. He once told me he had a Golf Cat. I thought he had a cat that was trained to find golf balls. I married a woman from New York City, we have been happily married for 21 years. As far as the Russians, I liked them better when they were the USSR. At least then we didn't have to pretend that we liked each other.

  18. HOAs are toxic to Ham Radio also.   You sign the contract, and you have signed rights away.   Funny story - I built my house about 20 years ago, and proceeded to put up 3 radio towers (and later a 4th).  The HOA went absolutely apesh!t.  I let them rail and threaten me about it for ~18 months, before pointing out to them that they had not read their own paperwork (I had).  My part of the hood was never annexed, and I was ~150' outside of the HOA bounds. I am still pariah.

  32. I don't like the idea of any "real looking" rounds around my dry fire practice area. Peraonnaly I ONLY use empty mags for dry fire. In the grand scheme of things, there really isn't that much difference.

  35. I practice drawing, starting out slow and smooth and gradually increasing my speed. At the end of the draw stroke, I then employ my dry-fire practice.   I figure I need as much "muscle memory" when presenting my weapon as I do pulling the trigger - I carry it for self defense so if I every have to draw, I can't be fumbling around, having it get caught on my cover garmet, etc.

  44.   Well there is a big difference between the types of shooting people do.  I see most folks at the range shooting like they're Aaron Burr lining up Hamilton.  When you take your time to aim and make pretty little groups, you don't have to focus on things like muscle memory, so shooting is nothing more than lining up the sights.    For folks like me, we practice combat shooting.  Accuracy has to be balanced with speed.  In order to be fast and still retain acceptable accuracy, you have to build the muscle memory of lining those sights up.  That doesn't happen overnight, and it doesn't happen easily if you've been conditioned for years on something other than Glocks.  I hated Glocks for this reason, until I had to be a good shot with one to earn my pay.  They are actually way, way more ergonomic for building good muscle memory due to the grip angle, it just takes some getting used to for folks who have grown up with standard angled pistols.  It took me two days and several dozen mags, as well as a couple hours at night drawing with a blue gun Glock before I broke my old ways.   I get what you're talking about with point shooting.  It is an effective technique.  Accuracy is more important to me, so I pretty much shoot the same way you're describing, the only difference is my sights automatically line up without though, so I'm not losing any time on my shot, and I'm putting all rounds into something the size of a 3 inch dot.  Everyone here can accomplish that, but it requires practice of repeatedly presenting and lining up your sights.  Once you get that muscle memory down, then it's time to start using live rounds.

  45. I guess I am lucky.  None of that has ever bothered me.  Line up the sights, focus up front and fire.  Shots go on target.   I actually prefer to practice point shooting.  That and aiming without sights.  I might not his the bulleye, but i hit center mass at a reasonable distance.

  47. I am an engineer and have designed a few springs.... A properly designed spring will not weaken by being left compressed. And by "properly designed" I mean designed such that the stress in the spring when compressed to the max in its application is low enough that the material doesn't fatigue significantly over time/cycles. Sometimes it's not physically possible to do that. The requirements of packaging, rate, etc. may be such that you simply can't get there and the spring will eventually fail in one way or another. And while a spring may be designed for "infinite" life, sometimes they don't get made correctly. The temper may be off a bit or it may have some corrosion or something like that. When people disassemble anything with a spring in it, they tend to like mashing the spring completely flat into "coil bind". That's generally a really bad idea. If the spring doesn't go into coil bind in its application, it's likely you're over stressing it by doing that and causing permanent damage to the spring. The same thing goes with extension or torsion spring. Stretch or twist them too far and you'll ruin them.
