Remember this was a guy who was member of Bloomberg's MAIG when mayor of Knoxville, then resigned from that and took out lifetime NRA membership in time to run for Governor. Takes a while to decide which side of the bread has the most butter. - OS5 points

As someone who's been self employed for 25 years I am always amazed when folks talk about getting money back from Uncle Sam. Like it's a gift or something.4 points

Here's a few I've had. Many are in other members hands now ;) There have been more but, this is all I have pictures for. My first Saiga conversion, when they were cheap. :) Red Jacket did the front end work on this one ... before their show started ;) A couple more Saiga conversions. This is one with a Tantal side folder. Pain in the rear to get to work. Same gun different setup. Polish Tantal. Couldn't pass it up when Classic was blowing them out under $400! One of the early Vepr's when you could buy them for under $500 unconverted. Wish I had this one back. Threaded the barrel on this one. Actually the only Wasr, I ever owned. Great gun. Mak90 with Ironwood furniture that I finished myself. Beautiful milled Mak. Had to thread the end of this one too. Saiga .308 14.5" barrel with pinned '74 brake. Incredibly fun and accurate gun! At least I know the guy who ended up with this one. If the kids didn't eat so much I'd still have this one! :) Traded the Mak90 for this Saiga 12 and then traded this one for a PSL. I have a habit. Draco SBR. One of the most fun projects I did and a one of a kind with the handguard. Current M92. Waiting to be SBR'd. Also added a Manticore Arms NightBrake. Waiting on Manticore to release their HG!4 points

As long as it passes and becomes law, I'm fine. We can address re-election potential soon. We have quite a few folks that need replacing. :cool:3 points
The Army didn't trust us anymore......
As a senior NCO I led US and foreign troops in combat, free of any direct supervision other than my own. I fired my rifle, .50 cal machine gun, grenade launcher, threw frags and called for hellfire strikes, with missiles that cost more than the average house in Tennessee. Yet when on leave I had to fill out a 7 page risk assessment to drive back to my home state. I had to be lectured, like a child, on what not to do on the weekend. I couldn't so much as go on a simple PT jog without being wrapped in a friggin VS-17 panel without getting stopped by a half-wit E-9 who can't remember a time where people looked both ways for traffic. These are the measures that our zero defect military has taken, and the results are a bunch of helpless weaklings who aren't held accountable for their own f-ups. Instead there is a 15-6 to investigate how the command failed to take appropriate risk mitigation steps. America, this is the path of your armed forces. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk2 points

Meh, looks like his douchey life is punishment enough. Plus he has to climb that mountain of Walmartian fatty every so often. I suppose if he suffers from little wiener syndrome to the point he has to fake being in the military, those big flabby thighs he has to put it between aren't helping the presentation of the goods. Like a Vienna sausage between two Christmas hams. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk2 points

In the article linked in a previous post, Goobernor Haslam talks about 'property rights' and claims that the local officials should have the ability to regulate firearms on property that their local constituents paid for. Ummm...no. We aren't talking about private property here. We are talking about public property and local officials should not have the right to make the same type of decisions they can make on private property. The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution says that the government does not have the right to infringe. Just in case that isn't clear enough, the Tennessee State Constitution goes further in protecting the right not only to own but to bear arms. Even the specious activities of regulating the carry of arms by state level officials under the 'view to prevent crime' clause doesn't seem to me - a lay person - to grant local officials any right, whatsoever, to do so. So, no, Goobernor Haslam, local officials should not have the right to limit firearms carry on PUBLIC property. Instead, they should be required to follow the Constitutions of both the country and the state by not interfering with the right to keep and bear arms that is outlined in both. God, it makes me sick that I let myself be talked in to voting for that guy by the 'lesser evil' crowd.. I'll write in my dog before I'll vote for him, again.2 points

I can not wait. I have read the first two books which were great... however I think for the first time I like the show better than the books. Who is everybody's favorite overall character? (trying not to give any spoilers)2 points

Rush to market with what you advertise as a "game changer" with a great price point which means lower margins... While not a good comparison, Jeep advertised release of the new Cherokee for late 2013; didn't appear until 2014. Problems with the 9spd auto, but since they wanted to make a statement and introduce a "game changer" in that segment, they waited in order to refine and perfect. Now Remington will be overloaded with warranty work, phone calls from irate customers and severely damage the desireability of the R51 specifically and Remington ownership in general...incurring additional expenses and loss of sales revenue on a product with already has a pretty slim margin based on it's price point. I almost forgot about the tooling, training, packaging and marketing costs to bring it to market. Yikes. Didn't anyone think to torture test a few dozen of these things from different lots to see what would happen? Wasn't anyone remotely curious? You make guns, I'm sure you could have found at least one employee who would have volunteered to shot for free if you provided the ammo...I'll bet a dozen or so TGO-ers would have round tripped if Remington posted "looking for proficient shooters to blaze through a few thousand rounds, we provide guns, ammo and targets." Epic Fail on so many levels for a what I think could still be a great compact platform.1 point

Yes. At least then people who truly believe in a more right-leaning position could hopefully be motivated to replace him in the next election. As it is, we have a left-wing RINO and, because he plays under the Republican name (which is more important to those who think that political elections equal the Superbowl as in actual policies and beliefs don't matter as long as your 'team' wins) there will be no, real impetus to move away from him or his brand of bait and switch, "Talk out of the right side of my mouth but work with my left hand," bull crap. Besides, I will say, again - we saw more advances in laws regarding self defense and carry rights under a New Jersey Democrat governor (Bredesen) with unapologetically anti-gun Naifeh as Speaker of the House than we have seen under the "good Republican" triumvirate of Haslam, Harwell and Ramsey. The Republicans rallied support in the last, few elections with the cry of, "Oh, my God! The other side wants your guns and your only hope is to vote for us! We will support and expand your rights!" Well, no two ways about it, they lied. The three of them even keep saying that they don't even want to deal with any such legislation.1 point

The main thing is clears up is an incompatibility with existing "castle law". You are given the same presumption regarding using deadly force in your vehicle as you are in your home, yet you are not legally allowed to carry in your vehicle without buying a privilege to do it. Since the permit is not necessary for home protection, this seems rather a logical step to me. - OS1 point

I would have to agree with you on your picks. Tyrion is just plain cool. And The Khaleesi...What's not to like about a georgeous chick who commands dragons? Seriously though, I do enjoy the show. My wife, however, is just plain bonkers over it. She has asked and complained about the "long" wait for the show to return. Asked me the other day when she could buy season 4. This woman is hardcore.1 point

I saw that this morning. One hell of deal. Too bad this would force me to build three more rifles with those lowers hanging out. Taking up space. Silently mocking me for not completing them. And my 1911's are already fighting one another. Dont need more turmoil in that department.1 point

PSA seems to run stuff at "lower" prices randomly for a few hours and then they get jacked up… This morning they had a Sig Tactical 1911 (w/rail) + 3 PSA (non blem) lowers for $799!! Thats a steal in my book and right now its back at $999 … If you were to purchase at $799 minus the cost of 3 new lowers lets say $75 a piece … Thats a $574.00 sig 19111 point

I would have to say Tyrion is my favorite character, followed closely by Khaleesi. After watching her go from, in the first season, an innocent almost shy quite type girl, to a power hungry dragon toting queen has been fun1 point

I wouldn't continue with XP due to the perceived/real vulnerability. Upgrade to Win7. It's got some nice features that may or may not be any better than XP, but its been fine so far. You should be able to find an OEM install disk for under $100, that's what I did. Same as above, I've heard that Win8 is great if you've got a touch screen, but not so great otherwise.1 point

It's bullcrap. It assumes no one was an unstable nutbag before they joined the military. Having seen a person kill themselves after being in the Army for less than a week, I'm gonna assume law of averages when you have an organization that has employed millions and millions of Americans in the past decade and a half. Lieutenant General Mark A. Milley just held a news conference. During the question and answer segment, a reporter asked about concealed carry on base. Milley informed the reporter that is was not legal for military personnel (or anyone, I suppose) to carry on base, and that he did not feel concealed carry should be allowed. About that time, someone asked about the response time of the MP's and other law enforcement officers, to which Milley said 10-15 minutes. The reporter who initially asked about concealed carry jumped in and basically tried to make a point about how CC could have been beneficial when it takes 10-15 minutes for help to arrive. He wasn't interested in debating the reporter, so he took another question. It was nice to hear a reporter with some common sense.1 point

I think the best argument to a business owner is the folllowing: Posting a "no guns" sign does nothing to dissaude the criminal element, and in fact coupd serve to encourage that element. Additonally it is negative message to lawful firearms owner and HCP carriers. Not posting provides the exact same relief against the criminal element and doesn't discriminate against lawful gun owners and encourages a wider customer base. Tell me one person who chooses to only eat/shop somewhere ONLY if there is a posted sign? Now tell me how many gunowners will refuse to do business with a posted place? And lastly, there is no legal protection to the business for posting a sign vs not posting. Not posting - its the smart business decision1 point

I used to jump on TGO and head straight to the "ammo and reloading" section but for the longest time now it has been mostly filled with .22lr rants so I've avoided it. Gives me a fuzzy feeling to see some good threads starting to show back up! As for the RCBS hand primer, I have the regular RCBS hand primer with the round primer tray rather than the universal but have used both and prefer the non universal model. If you're loading for a caliber then you are already going to have the appropriate shell holder so unless i'm missing something you don't gain anything with the universal model. As far as .223/5.56 component costs goes, you won't save much if you buy small amounts of commercial bullets and powder but if you'll get hooked up with David and get 55gr pulled bullets and surplus powder from him you can save a substantial amount of money. I've used every common brand of primers and haven't had any real trouble from any of them. A friend had a couple of light strikes but I think that was more due to his rifle than the primers. I think I've had maybe 3 failure to fires out of 4-5,000 Remington SRP's. I've had zero problems out of CCI or Winchester SRP's but have only been through 2-3,000 of each of those. I will say that if given the choice of small rifle primer I will buy Wolf/Tula as I've never had the slightest bit of trouble and I've been through 15,000+ of them and that's a good track record IMO. Enjoy the journey and Like Red said, "casting is the addiction"!1 point
