Look at these two douche nozzles. They needed to be dragged outside and beaten with their own guns...10 points

Yeah, I don't know what scares me more; the idea that anti-gunners may be using 'plants' to damage firearms rights or the idea that these dumbasses might really think they are doing something good for firearms rights. Of course, there is a third option that is just as likely. It is entirely possible that they and others like them are a simply a bunch of attention whores who have attached themselves to 'gun rights' like a cluster of barnacles.5 points

You know, although I don't think it is appropriate in all situations, open carry of a handgun is one thing and I can kind of see that side of the debae. Strapping on a long gun to go eat a taco is just stupidity, no debate needed.4 points
-
And let's also note that it was some guy open carrying a rifle that pushed this issue to where it is. Just because you legally have the right to do something doesn't make it a good idea. Stay under the radar and CC and there are usually no issues. Come in and show our ass declaring your rights and more business will respond by declaring their right to post their business.4 points

That should include the ones with an R after their name.4 points

I support open carry. I also support the right of private entities to set their own policies with regard to whom they will serve without any government interference. All that aside, I am having great difficulty squaring my belief in the Non-Aggression Principle (NAP) with my desire to buttstroke these two asshats with their own rifles.3 points

And Chipotle only posted after some open carry yahoos thought carrying AR's to eat would look cool.3 points

Makes me wonder which side of the issue the "gun owners" were really supporting. It doesn't take a genius to know that carrying any long gun into a restaurant in Dallas will cause a high profile reaction, particularly if you have it well planned. I see a lot of potential "news value" for the anti-gun folks if they staged this. I can't see much upside for a pro-open carry event at a business that already allows firearms on the property.3 points

I fully support the right to open carry, but I really wish these guys would stop doing this.3 points

It's acid dipped and stone washed 1084 carbon steel professionally heated treat to 59-60RC. I also gave it the flame accent at the blade edge and added a "cave man" look at the top and sides of the spine and has jimping on the spine as well. It has green canvas micarta scales with yellow G10 liners with stainless corby fasteners and a stainless lanyard hole.2 points

Fools like this really force an owner's hands. I eat in Chipotle a couple of times a week. At noon, the line in my local Chipotle in Brentwood is generally 30 people deep. I would be willing to bet good money that if Jabba the Hut and his fashionable friend walked in every day at the same time, their lunch sales would be down 30% in a week. Heck, I run a gun forum and I'd consider heading for the door if these two walked in. How are they going to sit and eat with those rifles hanging without muzzle sweeping someone at some point? Duck boots over there may just ND when he trips over his laces. It's ridiculous. They're all but forcing the owner to post to save his revenue stream.2 points

This has already been posted in two other threads, but I vote for this one to stay because it's the only one with a explanitory title.2 points

I prefer to not assume that both of my hands will be free. If you carry with an empty chamber, at least practice chambering a round one-handed.2 points

Today was an inaugural day for me: Several years after getting my permit, I finally bought my first handgun! Since the seller was kind enough to include a nice holster, I decided to do the "Wally Walk", too. :D I bought some ammo to commemorate the occasion. For the moment, I'm mostly wearing it around the house & carrying it unloaded until I get comfortable with handling it in a safe manner. Thanks again to forum member Sonny for a great purchase, and a nice piece, too!2 points

Forgive my dissent. Recognizing it is "harmless fun", I still do not believe continued annoyance of a WW clerk (who has to reset the inventory) is placing our best foot forward in support of 2A.2 points

Nowadays, they don't have much fear. I have seen them walking down Pellissipi Pky. They probably just trot up the middle of the Kingston Pike or anywhere else they choose, especially at night. We had them walking through the courtyard at Oak Ridge National Lab. Management actually sent out an email...."don't try to pet the doggy" (or some STFA message)1 point

I'll put it this way. If I owned a business, restaurant or other, and these two fools walked it, I would not so politely escort them to the door immediately. What gives you any indication that two people who look like that wouldn't fire those rifles, negligent or otherwise?1 point

:panic: Those two yahoos in that report could not look "COOL" with or with out the weapons even if they were standing in a Blizzard condition snowstorm in upper Alaska wearing only their Fruit of the Looms on New Years Eve while being frozen so stiff a Polar bear wouldn't even attempt to dine on them..................jmho   :whistle:1 point

Yep. I think it's important to remember that there are a lot of Dems out there who support gun rights. Even if you don't agree with a lot of their other policies, it's possible to find common cause with this. Especially against their more lunatic fringe.1 point

I am beginning to believe a lot of this may be going on by anti gun groups just to help promote their agenda's. I do fine it hard to believe that these two individuals in this restaurant just up and decided this one their own. I mean neither one of them by their appearance would seem to be wound tight upstairs to begin with so the worse the individual appears to be the more help would go in the direction of the anti gun grabbers.............jmho1 point

at least now if someone asks me if I have ever been to a Chipotle I can give them a reason as to why not other than just shrugging my shoulders and say burritos aren't on my food radar. And I am sure criminals will honor their no guns signage.1 point

That's how insurance has always worked. The insurance company pays x for x procedure and the health care facility either accepts a certain insurance and agrees to accept that fee or they do not. However, the "billing you for the excess" part is bunk AFAIK. Matter of fact, for the last 10 years before I assumed official geezer status, the ONLY thing my insurance did for me was that I paid the insurance rate instead of the walk-in price (often close to half the price) since I never hit the 5K deductible to where insurance would pay for anything at all. So they had to charge me the insurance rate, as it's part of the contract when they accept a certain insurance. You never notice the "write off" or "allowed charge" on a medical bill? That's the difference between what the provider would charge an uninsured person vs an insured one they accept. Of course, you'll pay out of pocket for whatever deductible and/or a certain % more until you hit the yearly total out of pocket. Which is nothing new either. In short, what's new here, except that the insurance companies/Medicare are paying less as time goes on, and of course gummit intervention in making a more universal contract among insurers who agree to participate in ACA. What's new are some of the author's claims, but I think he's simply quite uninformed on medical health insurance facts and don't believe some of his statements are accurate at all. If a health provider accepts your insurance for the needed procedures, it also accepts the fee structure that your insurance will pay for them, and doesn't "bill you for the extra". And sure, it could be that you won't be able to get your bypass done at Vandy, if Vandy doesn't accept your insurance. But if they do, they'll do it for the price agreed upon in the contract. Now, if anything has changed regarding what I've said above, I'd like to see documentation, as sure, I could be wrong -- there's probably no way to overestimate the devastation that ObamaCare is gonna have, but I don't see this as part of it. - OS1 point

Also, maybe have a place to put it when ur at home so it's not on you. This way there's no worry with your daughter. Great idea above. Or even, carry it without one racked for a while so you can get used to the idea of carrying. Gradually you will be more comfortable. If you're like me you went a long time without carrying anything. It takes a little time.1 point
-
Carry it cocked without one in chamber. Check it every couple of days to see if it's still cocked. After x amount of time, you'll be convinced it ain't gonna fire unless the trigger is pulled, and you'll keep one in the chamber, as of course you should. - OS1 point

At first I was going to build something along the lines of this: Then, slowly, it turned into this: But now, I'm more of an ak guy, so I am slowly gathering parts for this and my new ak at the same time. IF you look around, you can find some really good deals.1 point

My advice... buy a basic, complete upper and lower (or whole rifle) and shoot the piss out of it until you notice improvements that can be made by changing out parts for reliability and ergonomics. I promise that within a couple years (or less) that rifle will be part of you... then, you'll know what you want to build. Sounds like a lot of time invested, but that's way better than spending a ton of money on a setup that doesn't work, or fit you, before you are accustomed to the platform.1 point
