Some folks are genuinely offended by it. Some folks are just using the issue as a soapbox to garner a little bit of fame. Some folks take pride in it and some folks just don't give a damn. Regardless of what camp anyone falls into, the government stepping in to cancel the trademarks in an attempt to strong-arm Dan Snyder into changing the name is flat out wrong. To me, that is a far, far bigger issue than the name of a ####ing sports team.9 points

I'm just doing some random thinking here and yeah I know it's scary to some. Anyway since Redskins is offensive, I have to wonder about other teams. Is the name Cowboys offensive to Cowgirls? Or maybe this stream of invaders from Central and South America may be offended by the name Patriots. And of course I'm sure the name Jets offends environmentalists screaming about carbon footpr...ints. What do animal rights activists think of the name Broncos or heavens sake the Bengals since Bengal Tigers are endangered? And are little people intimidated by the Giants? And does the name Buccaneers send the message that piracy is ok? And last but not least I am sure atheists are offended by the name Saints. Maybe the government should do away with sports team names and issue them government numbers. Or hey, here is a novel concept. Maybe everyone should should grow up and not be so easily offended and maybe the government should carry out it's constitutional duties and stay out of businesses and private lives. Just wondering.4 points

"We?" YOU. You can speak for you. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, as am I, and anyone else. I am truly sorry that you're offended by something so trivial. It's ridiculous to see Harry Reid waste his air on something like this, when he SHOULD be concerned over things that really matter! This is insanity.4 points

There have been no "native americans" alive for a good 5,000 years. They disappeared about 5,000 years after the mongols crossed the land bridge and invaded N. America. The exact name that taxonomists and anthropologsts use for the American Indians is "mongoloid". Derived from their Mongolian heritage. Some of us are negroids, some of us are caucasoids, they are mongoloids. Nothing offensive, just good scientific and technical terminology. But it gives you a hint as to their derivations. If the government can steal your intellectual property (patents and trademarks) they can steal you bank accounts, lawn mowers and big screen TVs. Stealing is generally defined as illegally taking your property without permission or depriving you of it's lawful use. If the term were really offensive, the team would fail in the marketplace. The marketplace being a better judge of most things than politicians. There is no freedom to be not offended.3 points

A business man got on an elevator. When he entered, there was a blonde already inside who greeted him with a bright, "T-G-I-F." He smiled at her and replied, "S-H-I-T." She looked puzzled and repeated, "T-G-I-F," more slowly. He again answered, "S-H-I-T." The blonde was trying to keep it friendly, so she smiled her biggest smile, and said as sweetly as possibly, "T-G-I-F." The man smiled back to her and once again, "S-H-I-T." The exasperated blonde finally decided to explain. "'T-G-I-F' means Thank Goodness It's Friday. Get it, duuhhh?" The man answered, "'S-H-I-T' means 'Sorry, Honey, Its' Thursday.'"3 points

Yes, you probably have a warrant now. Same thing happened to a friend except he misread the date on the ticket. Lucky for him, another friend was also in court that day and witnessed the judge issue the warrant for failure to appear. He called my friend who immediately called the judge's office to plead his case. He did eventually get out of the warrant based on the illegible date on the ticket, but still had to go to court and do traffic school. I'd suggest you call the Decatur Sheriffs office and/or the court house and find out what the story is.3 points

Thanks Luke for all the tips....and for trying it first  I was more worried that once I got started, I would go with the wrong color for base coat, not like the design half way through, or have an image in my head and hate it on the rifle. So! I just started painting with no idea whatsoever in my head and went with it. I used Rustoleum flat camo in the following colors: Sand, Army green, and Dark Earth. Sprayed the crap out of it with brake cleaner and let dry. Tape over the trigger and serial number (Not sure why, but I did). First light coat of OD green After 2nd coat of OD green And here is the part where y'all get to cuss me for skipping pictures. (I know, I hate it too) But I got into it, and moved back and forth so many times, I would have had 100 pictures and probably forgot what I was trying to do in my head. So, I apologize in advance. :ugh: All that said, I am extremely happy. The finish is NOT shiny, which I did not want. The dull, flat look is great! Since I didn't take pictures of the leaf procedure (you can see them laying in the box), I will try to explain a little. Probably not much different than anyone else does though. I started with the two base coats of green. Then laid several of the little branches pretty much covering most of the rifle on one side. I sprayed several lines of the brown in different directions depending on how the leaves laid. I need to add that light leaves CAN be moved by the spray! GRRR So I had to adjust once I figured that out. I let that dry, flipped the rifle and repeated as close as I could remember on the opposite side. Then I grabbed the sand and laid about half the amount of leaves I used for brown on the rifle and sprayed 5 or 6 lines mostly vertical and a few on top and bottom of the rifle. I wasn't keen on keeping that much sand color although I love it, just thinking about my area colors. I wanted more green and brown. So I made one more trip around the whole rifle with brown (to break up some of the larger areas of sand color) and then green (A blending type action of all of the designs) again. I decided at the point above that I would stop where I was. Let me know what you think, and if you're pondering it, give it a shot!!2 points

Thoughts? What would be a good price for a 1960 Belgium made model in two tone stainless Blued slide. I would be shooting it once in a while but mainly want to pass it on to my son someday. Would it be a good investment as it appears to be in excellent condition.2 points

I would suspect there is some lag in the system, ie big stack of paper work that takes a few days to go through, then a few more to get them entered etc. That's why your original ticket hasn't shown up yet. I wouldn't let this ruin your weekend. They won't have an all points bulletin out for you so don't be paranoid. Drive correctly and lawfully so as that they won't look at you and you'll be ok. I would call Monday and talk to them and they will tell you what to do. I would hazard a guess that this is sort of a common issue. You won't be the first or the last to do this.2 points

My dad worked for eckerd drugs for 3 days short of 20 years. 3 days before his retirement he died from a complication after going through surgery. While he worked there he was robbed 4 times and held hostage once while in south Florida. I begged him to armor up but he always insisted on giving the store away before fighting back. After all the crap he put up with eckerds didn't even send a condolence card when he passed on. He always told me how anal and stupidly cheap walgreens, eckerds and walmart were. Pharmacy chains are a necessary evil where some deserve every bit of drama and loss they deserve because they only care about money and people. F walgreens and F eckerds. The way they treat their people is a travesty. Bastards..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.2 points

I'm no collector, but I'd consider $650 a great price for a BHP from that era, provided it's in good condition function and appearance-wise. I've seen pristine early model BHP priced upwards of a grand.1 point

Just got mine, late but that was my fault. All in all great knife as expected by what everyone was saying and based on what I read about these knives. One of the gems to me is the way willis68 executed the whole transaction, never met the guy, but businesses could learn from the way he handled everything and making me feel at ease buying a knife of this caliber/price. My most expensive knife is an Emerson I've had for years that one of my Soldiers gave me as a goodbye gift. This knife will be my 2nd go-to blade, I plan putting it through the phases. Once again, thanks willis68.1 point

I have personally inspected and handled literally several hundreds of brand new guns shipped from dozens of manufacturers, distributors, and dealers over the past few years alone. Nearly all of these were never opened new in box and I was the first person to open the boxes. Every single gun that was sold as brand new was in fact brand new (even the cheaper brands or models like Taurus TCP), and it's pretty easy to tell. The box or case usually has a stiff feel free of creases and lacking the looseness that comes with multiple open/closing actions. The guns are almost always wrapped in protective plastic or special treated paper, and all metal surfaces coated lightly with gun grease or oil. There are usually multiple labels or tags attached via easy-peel adhesive or short hang-tag strings. The factory papers are sharply pressed and free of bent corners, creases, or tears. Nothing has fingerprints or smudges, nothing is out of place, all minor accessories are present such as sample oil tubes, desiccant packs, or NRA membership discount cards, and everything just smells new. The first person to handle the gun should be the dealer, assuming he opens it to verify the serial number during logging per federal law, but about half the dealer employees I have seen actually doing the log work just assume they are correct and log them based on the serial numbers marked on the outside of the boxes (not a good idea). Whenever the dealer does open the box to verify, they should be able to do so with minimal intervention such that everything remains new and untouched, as the serial and model numbers are visible through plastic and you can handle the gun with gloves or a gun rag to prevent fingerprints. Unfortunately many dealers do open the guns repeatedly, handle them, put them on display, take them to gun shows, repack them, let customers handle them (usually racking the action numerous times), and in rare cases even test fire them. It is common for the guns to incur at least minor wear during this process, and the pristine new unopened condition is long gone, sometimes with small things being lost, taken, or otherwise going missing. Most dealers (especially smaller local dealers) feel that the gun is still "new" if it was never sold or transferred, but I personally disagree. To me the gun is only brand new in the box if it was never opened, handled, cycled, etc. outside the factory other than the bare minimum necessary to verify serial number during the transfer and sale process. I can spot handled, opened, or re-packed guns a mile away. When I personally buy a new gun I inspect it carefully before completing the background check form or paying, and if it is not absolutely flawlessly 100% brand new then I either won't buy it, or I'll ask for a different one if they have others in stock, or I'll expect at least a small discount. But then I typically purchase most of my new guns from large distributors or internet wholesalers so this is rarely a problem. The smaller local dealers are much more likely to open, handle, inspect, display, rotate, etc. because they maintain smaller inventory levels and sometimes sit on the guns for months before they sell. And I have seen more than a few cases where a dealer accepts a return from a customer and places it back in inventory for sale as new, assuming the customer never shot it or in some cases knowing that it was shot a few times but they clean it up the best they can to avoid taking the financial loss. It is hard to be sure what happened to the OP based on only 2 photos but I would bet the gun was NOT absolutely brand new when he got it, and was probably shot a few times or at least handled a good bit. In any case, let the buyer beware, and you have a lot less leverage if you don't inspect the gun before purchasing or leaving the store. Hope that EW offers you an exchange for a brand new gun, or at least a small discount or store credit. Good luck.1 point

I am not trying to scare the OP, but in my experience with a revoked from a FTA I was not given a stern warning and a chance to call a ride. I was given a ride and a change of clothes. Then I had to call a bondsman. The arresting officer didn't care that I had a revoked from a 55 in 45, all he saw was revoked and hauled my happy little butt off to jail.1 point

One warning if anyone does get these barrels...be careful sliding your gas block over the engraving on the barrel. I was wiggling the gas block on and it just nicked the edge of the engraving raising an edge. A cleaning brush took the edge off but it still bothered me that I almost marred the heck out of a new barrel. When it says .750 it means it!1 point

Didn't you look it over before you bought it? I expect the gun came in a shipment from their distributor that way , and likely hasn't been out of the box until you bought it. Was it in a display case, or did they retrieve it in the box from the back? It IS a Taurus, and not a valuable showpiece. It's a pocket pistol. Assuming it functions correctly and you like it, I wouldn't give it another thought.1 point

Not to make you worry any further, but the issue isn't just a ticket. Failure to appear is a separate offense (sort of like contempt of court). Each judge (not just court) could have a different way of handling it. However, I have certainly seen judges enter bench warrants on this type of thing. I would suggest calling the Decatur Co. sheriff's office tomorrow and see if they can tell you if a warrant was issued. If so, you will need to deal with it (probably have to appear at another court date). I doubt it will be a big deal, but just more of a hassle. However, you certainly need to be proactive. I don't know any attorneys in Decatur Co., so I am not sure that court would issue a warrant or not. Here in Williamson, it would depend on the judge.1 point

The name is a derogatory term. It should be changed. We have discussed it all week at work and I converted three people to agree with me once they understood the facts. The basis of my argument: just because everyone says something is okay, doesn't mean it is. Learn the facts for your and decide. Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee1 point

A winning formula can last for a long time, but eventually you gotta change or die. Harley actually reminds me of Smith & Wesson a bit. S&W revolvers which built the company, are still top notch and their wonder nines were solid as well. But without the diversification into the polymer pistols and the AR's over recent history, they would be a dying company falling into niche market status. It is time for HD to innovate or get left behind.1 point

Not at all, employers should be completely free to employ or not whomever they wish for whatever reasons they wish. But the next bit of that paragraph that you conveniently ignored already answered your question. Mere possession or use of an item does not necessarily result in an inability to function in life. Just as some folks can drink responsibly, some folks can use other intoxicants responsibly. I am stating that drug possession and other mala prohibita "crimes" aren't really crimes at all and should not result in a felony conviction. Mala prohibita IS mala en se. Putting a gun in someone's face is a choice. While addiction may be a reason someone chooses to do it, it isn't an excuse for the action and does not absolve someone from the consequences of that choice. Now, as far as the big gulp goes, the Bloombergs of the world say that obesity is a public health issue that has costs to society as a whole. Folks who are obese consume more health care. That raises insurance rates. Also, the poor tend to have higher rates of obesity. That means the government picks up their health care costs. In my view, if the government is picking up the tab, that means the government is sticking a gun in lots of folks' faces demanding the money in the form of taxation. So if you want to go down that road, what's worse? An individual putting one gun in one person's face and taking the risk of getting their just due in the form of an armed citizen defending themselves, or a group of people accountable to nearly no one sticking lots of guns in lots of people's faces and killing those who resist? You know my pick. All that to say that once again, you attempt to dodge the question. Justify the prior restraint on the individual's liberty that you advocate. What is the moral basis for denying someone the ability to make choices (even bad ones) for themselves that are not a direct aggression on another human being?1 point

A bill of sale should cover you legally in a face to face transaction, I'd imagine. Unless you suspect that someone isn't eligible to own a firearm, ask them to show you a drivers license or carry permit to verify they are a TN resident, then have them sign a bill of sale that lists the firearm with manufacturer, model and serial number. Keep it in the filing cabinet as a just in case. If someone is unwilling to take those two simple steps, I'd question the sale to them in the first place.1 point

At 100 yards, the shooting well part is more about that Shilen match barrel than it is about the caliber. I have that same barrel, and looking forward to shooting it. Don't hate on that scope too much. It's way better than the money you paid for it. You will be able to see your target as far as the Grendel will shoot. I've shot with that same scope at 880 yards, and saw every one of my misses :)1 point
