Well folks, I went and got my Colt back this morning. I must say it was a nice place. It is in Pulaski on a 35 acre farm. Very nice man and woman. It seemed to me to be on the up and up. I didn't even want to leave lol. They had a big nice cabin and a barn and a couple ponds. He was taken good care of. They actually have there a camel. Yep, an 8 foot tall camel that Colt had befriended in his last few months there. I am glad I got him back. They actually didn't even ask for a fee but I went ahead and donated generously. He is back home doing well. We are sitting outside by the fire as I type. I am going to get him chipped next week when I take the smaller dog in for her second rounds of shots. Glad he is home.5 points

I was driving by the far end of the property this evening on my way home and against my better judgement I decided to swap memory cards in the camera. I've been trying to leave them for 3 or more days between visits to minimize the chance of being seen and then only going in around noon but I figured I would pull this one while I was close by. You can't tell a lot about the deer but thought it was cool that he got right up against the camera to pose for a shot not to mention he was in there about 20 minutes after a group of doe left during day;ight so it makes me think that they are starting to rut. anyways, here's the pic, I have been pleasantly surprised at the number of mature bucks that I have on the property this year! I saw a 10pt coming across the road heading towards the camera that this pic is from a few days before but he never stopped in for a photo session. This one makes 5-6 (two of them may have been the same buck but I couldn't say for sure because of the camera angles) "shooter" bucks that have walked by a camera so there could be more. Al have been outside or close to outside the ear width 8-10 point deer so here's to hoping for a great season!4 points

Just got my Ruger super Redhawk back from Ruger. The hammer was worn and could be pushed forward with your thumb. Ruger fixed the gun, adjusted the barrel gap and headspace, gave me new grips and sent the gun back in a new box. All of this cost be a grand total of 0$. Probably one of the best experiences I've had with any company2 points

Why do some of you guys go around picking up dogs that don't belong to you? As far as this thread goes, that seems like the larger problem here. If the guy would have simply left the op's dog alone, we wouldn't be having this discussion.2 points

What is wrong with being concerned? Nothing. You absolutely should be concerned. But you sell yourself as having the inside scoop on everything with your "I talked to so and so..." and "I'll make a call and find out..." and people respect you as a "subject matter expert." So you saying that this looks like it's going to happen makes people think it's a done deal. It's not. You put this out there without also adding in all the other available info. As a "SME," you have to remember that people will blindly follow your every command and take your word as fact. But these types of posts and scare tactics have driven ammo prices to double in the last 6 years and in some cases, ammo is still hard to find. At least the AR market self corrected but ammo probably never will.2 points

That's a good deal for pretty much any functioning AR but a great deal for one coming from a reputable company! Dave it will be tough to beat this for a first AR. Put a decent free float handguard on it and you're good to go brother!1 point

Yes, was glitch in SIG's order processing system. Significant oopsie really. As Dolo says, you can see what your gun store is making off you, and what some government agencies and police depts bought and whatnot. Nothing too earthshaking national security wise or anything I don't guess, but embarrassing for a govt. contractor to let it get out surely. - OS1 point

Never heard of a broken Glock frame from normal use, even from quite heavy abuse. However, there are MANY polymer AR lowers that have cracked to pieces with no abuse whatsoever. It's far from just an "opinion". https://www.google.com/search?q=broken+ar+polymer+lower&newwindow=1&client=firefox-a&hs=hEg&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=NwZDVMbAPJLDggTb2IKgBQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1446&bih=642 ps: I had an Omni break myself. Not catastrophically, but still cracked and piece of the takedown detent/spring channel broke out, exposing part of both of them. - OS1 point

Never surrender. Discussions like this help me more than anything than what I can pick up otherwise. Every group has an agenda to push, sorting out the details, like we have here, makes it more clear to me and I could care less about the brain dead voting. I did my part. (Posting through my mobile app works without a hitch, my blank posts above are another issue, definitely need a nuke button added to edit options.)1 point

I see no need in bobbing hammers; they can be benificial for more than just s/a shooting. My grandfather showed me how to draw from the pocket to where it will never be an issue. If you will tuck the edge of your thumb under the trigger it will never snag pulling from the pocket. All you have to do is practice it a few times. If you ever decide to belt carry the hammer will be helpful for retention with a thumb-strap.1 point

As OS has reported, the governor and legislature have been seating the judges anyway for the last several decades and we have the vote to keep them or chuck them. Very few, if any, have been tossed by popular election. However, we still retain the right to elect our governor and legislature, so it's not as if we have a limited voice. I also don't live with the fantasy that today's voters are of the same intellectual or moral caliber that they were in the golden era when all was seemingly right with this country and we were united in pride for our nation. You can buy votes by giving out free cell phones and EBT cards today or get a riot started merely by saying that it's happening. Perhaps when citizens once again think responsibly and common sense becomes more common, then we can confidently believe that we can elect a government of, by and for the people rather than at the people.1 point

Here's how I voted and why: Amend. 1--Yes, because every organization that admitted or even smelled of Democrat is against it. Amend. 2--Yes, because whatever voice you give to the people, the political bastards are going to skew it to suit themselves anyway. Amend. 3--Yes, to make sure they can't threaten us with an earned income tax, but they'll bleed us dry with sales and property taxes. Amend. 4--Yes, because it's a crying shame that our vets come back disabled and we have to pass the hat for their care. Give these heroes what they need. Grocers selling wine--No, because it'll make Mike 357's day if they can't.1 point

Nonsense, not everyone exposed to any virus contracts it. The fact that everyone in Africa isn’t dead doesn’t mean it couldn’t be airborne. Have you read what different medical professionals are saying? No one can prove that it is or is not contracted through the air. I have no want or desire to believe one way or the other but I know BS when I hear it, and we aren’t getting good information form the CDC or the white house.1 point
-
If it was airborne there wouldn't be anyone left alive in Africa. Sneezing and exhaled breath are still considered close contact infection. I've seen no credible source of anyone that says it's truly airborne. So yes it is about what people want to believe1 point

It's been explained. He is the safety protocol supervisor. He isn't suited up because it obstructs his view. He is observing those who are contacting the patient while he is at a safe distance. He is trained to not make contact and has a suit ready if a situation were to warrant him putting it on. He observes the transfer of potentially contaminated material in biohazard containment bags and then boards the plane. Regardless of what people want to believe, this disease isn't airborne, keeping a distance from infected patient is a perfectly reasonably safety measure. I read a story if how reporters in west Africa are safer NOT wearing suites because the potential contamination when removing it is high. It's better to not wear the suit and keep you distance from anyone who might have the EBOLA and basically don't touch anything and disinfect continually.1 point

THE SECOND COMING Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand; A shape with lion body and the head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born? Things like work and school wouldn't be calculated into the plan if it was that bad. Quite simply, I wouldn't leave my house and would survive on what I have stored for as long as possible. All entry points would be barricaded appropriately and there would be signage warning people not to enter my property or deadly force would be used. In a pandemic scenario, things like that may be common. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I used to live in a very rural area. I learned my lesson about letting my dog run loose when I had to tell my wife and kids that he was run over. He was a Great Dane so it could happen to any dog. I also had a beagle get loose and got a call 3 years later from a vet clinic saying they had him. I drove 500 miles to get him and gladly paid his vet bill. I guess according to some people here I should have just called the cops and claimed my property? Personally, so long as the rescue appeared on the up and up, I would pay the fee and thank the guy for taking care of my dog for the summer and go home. Then keep him contained to prevent much worse things from happening.1 point

Heck, I even let my kids go outside and play! :shhh: Not chained or penned or anything. Sometimes they get together with neighboring kids and play. Sort of the same as my dog.1 point

You'd probably need to come see where i, and probably glowdotGlock live. We don't all live in a subdivision or apartment. My dog stays in the house most of the time, but goes out as he pleases. Most of my neighbors have dogs who aren't chained as well. It is very rural here, and we all know each other like family. I know every dog in our neighborhood, and all their names. I think our situation might be a bit different than what you're accustomed to. My neighbors' dogs will occasionally come get mine. They'll all go swim in a pond, dig for moles, and wrestle and play about the place. Later, they'll all divide up and go home for a nap. Doesn't seem like a bad life to me.1 point

The notion of letting a pet run loose is sometimes viewed as natural or traditional, especially around more rural areas. Some owners feel it is only right to let them have their freedom, and some folks enjoy having stray pets come to visit once in a while. These folks may have been raised in a culture that pets were only outside animals, not much different than birds or squirrels that you enjoy seeing and occasionally feed but otherwise don't do much about. Other folks have a romantic vision of their pets going out to play, making friends, visiting neighbors, communicating with other animals, and generally having a great time and then always finding their way home at the end of the day to rejoin their loving family after a fun day of adventure, similar to the crap that you see in the Disney movies. But the harsh reality is that a loose pet will usually just be searching for food or sex, or most often just looking for some loving attention from other animals or humans that are willing to pet and play with it. And if you leave a pet outside during rain or hot/cold weather then he is often just looking for better shelter. So if you really care about your pet (and your neighbors and their pets) then you would never let your pet run loose at large. Doing so exposes them to many, many hazards including being hit by a car, attacked by other pets or predators, shot at when trespassing on other properties, poisoned by all manner of toxic things he might eat or drink, chased or tortured by kids or twisted people, pelted with rocks or BBs or whatever, exposed to ticks and fleas and other diseases, injured by crossing dangerous areas such as steep hills, broken glass, becoming permanently lost, getting picked up by Animal Control or adopted by someone else that sees him as homeless, etc. And it can also cause a lot of inconvenience for your neighbors if your pet harasses their livestock or pets, craps in their yard, barks at night, bites one of their kids or pets, etc. Most pet owners who let their pets run loose are either ignorant of the facts above or they just don't care enough about the pets or their neighbors to do any different, and in my opinion these folks shouldn't have pets, which is why I fully support the legal capture of strays and placement in shelters where the pet will at least have a chance of being placed in a better home. Other pet owners aren't willing to go to the expense of properly tagging, chipping, and containing the pet to their properties, in which case I think they should only have inside pets that are only let out in a fenced area or on a run or leash.1 point

So the guy takes your property, that wasn't really lost. Holds onto it for 6 months, all the while trying to sell it to the first respective buyer. You catch wind due to your own efforts not the efforts of the rescue. And you are supposed to be thankful and pay him to get your own property back that never was really lost to begin with. Why stop at dogs, how about all livestock, automobiles, and children...lost cell phones and wallets... If you lose your keys and I find them, can I turn around and sell your car? Now I am very pro rescue. 3 of my dogs have been rescues, but they were owner surrenders or picked up from the local animal shelters by the rescues. I know the polite thing is to be thankful, pay the $80 and live happily ever after. And that's exactly what you should do. But it just rubs me the wrong way to think someone can just pick up any random dog walking down the street and essentially sell it.1 point

Did your dog have tags with your contact info (or a microchip) when he was picked up? If so, wouldn't that be theft and possession of stolen property since he agreed it's your dog and admitted to taking him from near your home? Turning over the dog in exchange for you not pressing charges might seem like a pretty fair deal to him. If you don't keep tags on him, then it would be a reasonable assumption on his part that your dog was a stray. He very well could be a dog lover who didn't want to see the poor guy out on his own. On the plus side, you haven't had to buy dog food for 6 months, so maybe that could factor in to the "re-homing fee"?1 point

Maybe someone more tech-savvy than me can check this, but my sources say this draft was created in August of last year, shortly before the time the Proposed Regulations were published (Sept. 9, 2013). I suspect someone who knows how to do it could check the metadata of the PDF posted on the Fed website. But in any event, I know there has been a draft of this form since at least August of 2013.1 point
