  1.     Yup.  The state trooper did tell her she was lucky, that a week ago he worked a similar wreak with a fatality.    I am doing my part.  I am eating cows as fast as I can but I am only 1 man.

  2. Cows are dangerous killers. Anyone wanting to own one of those horrible things should have to pass a background check and register it. We have to do this for the children.

  5. They are not stealing these animals to run through a slaughter house.  They will probably be driven a couple of hundred miles, split into smaller groups, and run through a sale barn within 48 hrs.  Unfortunately, there is really no efficient way to track stock like this. They obviously do not have microchips or any such device, and ear tags or sale stickers are not unique to just one animal.  I suspect the only way these folks will get caught is if they are caught in the act.  Me personally, I hope somebody shoots their ass.  Farmers work way too damn hard to have some jackass thief come take their property.

  7. Maybe, but much better than ignoring the whole thing.  Just because the man/company has money does not mean his act is not a good deed.  And I bet our being impressed or not hasn't even crossed his mind.

  8. I disagree, I think it was not required for Papa John's to do anything about this situation in a locally owned store.  The fact that he went out of his way to show up in person and pay for ANYTHING shows a lot of class.  IMHO, Papa John's had nothing to do with this situation.  That SOB is to blame for it and should be made to pay for it.  Same goes for any business that has one of their employees killed by actions of some criminal, it is not the business' fault for something like that.  Now, faulty equipment, dangerous procedures in the work place or other things they can control is another thing.  One can argue that he should not of been alone, but all that would of done is created more victims.

  13. I use a YHM Phantom M2 suppressor with that same setup (10.5 inch Rainier Arms barrel though) and it has worked very well. Not sure about the shorter barrel but I've had no stabilization problems with subsonics.

  14. most of the SEC mess will play itself out before the season is over.     The whole thing kind of makes me laugh anyway.   Last year and previous people would bitch about who was #1 or #2 and why #3 deserved a chance,  now we will bitch about why #6 is more deserving than #4.  When it goes to 8 teams then people will argue about #10 being better than #8.  It never ends.

  17. Well,,, I don't want to jinx myself but we FINALLY got the last 2 cows off of our place and back onto the neighbors. The neighbor is happy and I'm happier! I am getting firewood out of it which doesn't come close to covering my time and the damage the cows caused but hey, it's solved a problem that I hadn't cured yet so it's one less thing to worry about. Another guy came to help us run them back through and his farm is joins the other side of the neighbors place. He was showing me some trail cam pics and pics of bucks that he's taken just down the road and all I can say is wow! The 10 he killed last year was a monster! I will get him to send me a pic and post I here for everyone to drool over.

  26. I am making my own suppressor and hoping it will be effective. I am using titanium, stainless steel and possibly aluminum if I can find someone local to me to anodize the aluminum parts. If not I will use titanium. Aluminum is lighter but titanium is stronger. The outer tube will be titanium and the end caps will be 316ss. Dimensions are 1.5"x9".   It will have a 1" tube full of K baffles on the inside and that will be encases in 1.5" outer tube. The inner tube will vent its blast baffle into the area between the inner and out tube. Any excess gas will be forced through the K baffles.

  27. I've got a 9" AAC barrel that works well with both sub and supersonic ammo, haven't managed to get a suppressor for it yet. I did have to upgrade my CMT bolt to an extra power extractor spring to get it to eject properly.

  30. Last time I went to one of those I was only allowed to shoot once and won a Country Ham but was asked to leave. I asked if I could just put my gun up and watch and the guy said yea but when your watching folks shoot and the hair on the back of you neck keeps standing up from folks looking at you, you figure it's time to leave. I went there and met my little brother there cause he shot at this one in Greenbrier Fire Department Turkey shoot often. I told him to see if he could find out why I was asked to leave. He told me later that it is seldom that a shooter shoots a gun at the paper target and it cuts the center out of the target and cuts the target stick in half.   He said that indicates a Sleeved gun and they are illegal at Turkey Shoots. Well since I use to shoot turkey shoots up north at gun clubs but we shot clay pigeons coming out of trap houses it was a different situation. But with that said I was not using my  clay bird gun either. I was using a gun I got from my older brother in a trade for an old hump back Browning semi auto I had he wanted. It was a gun made in Brazil and was a 12 gauge 2 3/4- 3 in chamber O/U 30" F&F duck gun. Until that day I had never fired the gun and had no clue what kind of pattern it shot.     Later on that Fall when duck season opened up I was invited to go duck hunting with a few friends and I took that O/U and bought 1 box of 3 inch and had a box of 2 3/4 HB# 4 shot. I was knocking down ducks with the #4 shot rounds that the other guys were having trouble reaching with 3 inch magnums. After the day was over I think I bagged about 11 ducks of assorted breeds and everyone got birds but I had this one buddy that walked up to me and asked if I would sell the gun. I mean this was a beautiful O/U all engraved with really beautiful wood, gold trigger with select safety to choose which barrel you could fire.     In all honesty I have never been into pretty guns but more into guns I don't mind scratching or using without worrying about them. He was a buddy and a metro Police officer and at first I stumbled about throwing an answer out and he said I will give you $900.00 cash for the gun. I shudder a second and he went to a grand and I handed him the gun but I was going to hand it to him on $900.00.     I didn't really have anything in the gun. My brother gave me the gun and $300.00 for the Browning Humpback that I had $150.00 in. I spoke to him about a year or so ago at a pawn shop that a mutual friend of ours owns and he still has that gun and shoots it every duck season and I think we made that deal back in I want to say 87 or 88. I had to laugh when he told me he took it the a Police Department Fund Raiser Turkey shoot for Toys for Tots and was disqualified and had to go home and get a different gun and come back. I said yea i should have warned you about that................   We had a good laugh over that. That was the 1st and only time going to a meat shoot down here........

  31. So, I don't have a recipe - I just add till it tastes right. That being said:   I really enjoy using more than one type of pepper. Usually goes something like this for an all meat chili:   1. Brown white onions and fresh crushed garlic in a skillet with some butter.   2. Brown ground meat (venison, sausage, beef, whatever) in the skillet with the onions and garlic, add salt and black pepper(easy on the pepper) to taste   3. Transfer the meat and drippings to stock pot (or crock pot). Add tomato sauce for liquid. If you've got some homemade- awesome, if not, hunt's does ok too. Don't add too much, the tomato will mess up your flavors!   3b. Begin the simmer. Add some chopped bell peppers if you want some sweet flavor.   Spice it up! Add your chili powder to taste. Or, make your own. I use these combos:   - For some awesome flavors, try adding Guajillo, Ancho, and Poblano peppers. You can chop them up, or just add the dried powder (available in international section of most grocery stores).   - Turn up the heat - cayenne.   - Add some savory - Cumin, oregano, bit of paprika (easy with this, you're not making meaty ketchup!) if you care for it.   Venison has low fat content - it may be helpful to add some ground pork or hamburger. Something fatty. Fats bind capsaicin, preventing it from burning your mouth as badly, which will allow you to add more hot pepper flavors without adding too much extra heat. Be careful, it's easy to get carried away with all these different peppers. Small doses make big differences.   I usually end up using .5 - 1 oz of whatever chili powder mix I've concocted per 1-2 pounds of ground meat.   Make sure you cook it at least 4 hours on a low simmer.

  32. Baseball is a funny game.  To win the World Series a lot of things have to go right.  I love the style of ball that San Fran is playing, they are a complete team in every facet which is why they are competing for their 3rd World Series Championship in 5 years.  The Royals aren't as flush with talent as SF, but they are playing their hearts out and I think their home crowd might be the factor that has them hoisting the trophy tonight.  Impossible to root for a team that has that special kind of magic the Royals have this year.  I know what it feels like, I'm a Red Sox fan and we had the same stuff last year for our improbable run.   It's been a great series so far, and the LCS match-ups before that were good as well..  The blowouts are still fun to watch until it gets out of hand.  I don't have a favorite, I just want to see one last game of good baseball before I'm forced to go without for the next 5 months.

  34. I would like to thank each and every member for supporting me in their choice to buy a Pizza from Papa Johns this weekend. I do realize there has been a history with employees with the company and I know that you can find those same issues with every company in that type of business. None of them are without fault. I know the issue was recently mentioned from a former employee that Papa Johns has a great and powerful PR firm but so does every other company that deals and depends on the public to survive. Like I mentioned earlier I lost a close friend in a robbery similar to the one last week and he worked for Bellisarios and there was 3 other employees killed with him and no one from any of the families heard one word from the Bellisario's. There was two Dominoes drivers robbed and killed and not one word to the families from Dominoes to either family. Now of course Papa Johns has a Collateral damage team in their PR section and they could have sent any higher up representative to cover the PR issues. I'm sure it was not the PR firms idea that John Schnatter(Papa John) himself be the one to go. He runs the company and could have sent anyone but chose to go himself. For that the man has earned my respect. Below is a part of the interview with the young mans sister. She didn't expect this either and I feel the same way the family did. Interview: We never once imagined that this would touch anyone high up in the Papa John's corporate office, let alone, John Schnatter," Devan Cronin wrote. "He was visibly distraught when speaking to my family about the tragic loss of my brother and it was apparent that he didn't come just to pay lip service." Cronin said Papa John's also paid for Schaffer's funeral service and medical expenses. But, she added, "this display of support was so much more meaningful than any monetary donation."

  39. Ok, I am willing to admit that there has been issues in the Papa Johns Organization but so has their been in every one of the Pizza delivery companies. No denying that. But I had a very good friend killed during an Armed robbery of the Bellisario's Restaurant which also had the no gun policy and my friend Chris Karis and 3 other employees had their hands tied behind their backs face down on the floor and after the bad guys emptied all the money locations one walked up and shot each one of them in the back of the head and executed them. The restaurant had been closed about 15 minutes and they came in when one of the employees took out some trash. My friend was killed because the men and women that robbed the place were ex employees and knew the routines and knew the back door would get opened. Chris was getting married in a month and was just moved up to manager 2 weeks earlier and moved to that store.  Yea they caught all  the bad people and they are all in prison and will be until they are dead I hope but with politics as they are they could all be free with the next change of the Governor. Ray Blanton was prepared to release 34 inmates on his night before leaving office. Only GOD and a few words in Lamar Alexanders ear prevented that from happening.  There is probably a few here that remember those days. The only good bad guy is a dead one killed by a good guy.....................I will still be buying a Pizza Friday night.

  40.   As has been said, it's on her insurance company to make restitution to her.  Company will take it from there if they think they have recourse to recoup any of it.   The only way it's "on her" is if she's not covered for what she considers full recompense and wants to sue the landowner directly.   - OS

  45. Your absolute best bet is to go directly to Glock itself.    Go here for the form, print it out, and just write "Glock night sights" in the instructions, along with the model and serial number above.    I recommend sending the slide only in good packaging via USPS Priority in one of the small flat-rate boxes. For $57 plus your cost to USPS it to Georgia, Glock will supply the night sights, install them, update anything that is out of spec in your slide, and ship it back to you via FedEx. $57 total. It's an unbelievable deal. Takes 1-1/2 to 2 weeks round trip from my experience.

  46.   Succinctly put, the legislature wants to legalize the procedure they've been doing illegally for decades.  The only plus I can think of for voting Yes is it keeps out-of-state money from influencing the election of judges.  This is the like the mess that began when the U.S. 17th Amendment was ratified and took election of senators from the hands of the legislatures and put it up for popular vote.   I wouldn't want George Soros' money fueling a Tennessee Supreme Court election.
