  1. Our son, who is finally back from Africa from deployment, came up with his wife and our brand new granddaughter on Wednesday. They where not here for 4 hours and the baby spiked a fever of 103.Off to the ER. Got admitted to Childrens. And she is still there..They think its a stomach virus. She is so tiny yet and it breaks my heart seeing her with a big ole IV and stuff. Son and daughter-in-law of course are worried to death. She isn't eating right yet, so another night in the hospital. We worry and it just plain sucks...She is soo sweet and right before she started getting a fever ,Gordon was just having a blast with her Looks like Grandpa Gordy needs a shave..lol

  3. Last year LWRC debuted their PDW at SHOT. I ordered one pretty quickly and have been waiting on them and the ATF. I wanted to do something cool with it since I had seen Modern Outfitters do some really cool stuff. The form 3 cleared today and they finished the coating process. Hope you like .....

  7. But what is not taken into account is the numbers of potential victims from underwear, shoe and printer cartridge bombers.  Just because our current victim numbers are low does not mean we sit back and wait until we have another incident which adds a few more hundred or thousand to the numbers before we do anything about it.  I know there is a fine line between safety/security and freedom, but to dismiss all of what they do would be foolish.  I don't have any solutions to this complex situation, but in todays world its wise to be vigilant and quash any threat that we see.

  9. Wow, that does bring back memories.   Sometimes I forget things like that. We, and by that I do mean myself as well, forget how far we've come in our lifetimes.   I grew up living in grandparents homes. They did have electric lights, but heat and cooking was from wood stoves.   That was in the 50's. And for the youngsters among us, that really wasn't uncommon. Although electricity was available in most areas then, there still were a lot of country/ lower income people and families that didn't heat by it.   So for me, that was an eye-opening comment that triggered lots of old thoughts.   Could I go back to that? If I had to, and if I had the stove to do it. There are makeshift options, but pray that I don't see that anytime soon.

  15.   Yep.   It was stuck in 4x4 low.   They said the transfer motor that switches into/out of the low range is getting weak, plus due to the cold weather it was stuck.   We chose not to replace the motor since there's not much reason to need to go into the low range.   (4x4 high is fine to use.)  Another reason for the decision was the high number of miles on the vehicle (225K).      The charge for work was $86 so we are happy about that!    As I mentioned, they did very quick work.     So in summary, I started the post asking for any feedback on Ewing Bass and I'm glad to say that I had a very pleasant and hassle free experience.   I will definitely consider them in the future for other repairs.

  18. I'm a big little Ceasers fan. I eat a LOT of pizza and LC lets me do that without having to cook my own to save money. For $6.00 I'm home with a hot and ready pepperoni and I get two meals out of it. $3.00 a meal for ready made food is a good thing when you're a bachelor with little skills in the kitchen. :D   I'll probably try a bacon pizza, but by and large I've been over the bacon fad for a few years ago. Bacon is good on a lot of things, but for my money I like my bacon on a plate, served with more bacon, and an extra side of bacon. All the bacon ice creams, chips, etc. are meh IMO.

  26. I have waffled on switching to an aluminum lower for my SCAR--that will allow use of PMAGs rather than the proprietary SCAR mags by FN--for a couple of years. There are a few SCAR specific mags on the market now that are an alternative to the FN pieces, but they have had generally poor reviews. I have never really gone wanting for the FN mags for mine. I actually bought 5 back when they were hard to find before I even had the rifle. But they are expensive at around $40 each, and they are still harder to find than PMAGS. I had pretty well decided not to switch to this style lower, but the recent acquisition of an AR-308 combined with the new 25 round PMAGs in 308 finally pushed me to get one. Having commonality of magazines between the SCAR and AR-308 is a strong lure. There are two lowers on the market currently, one by Handl and one by Cavalry Manufacturing. There is also one in the works by Stryker Enterprises that looks amazing, but it has been in the works for more than two years, and in spite of constant teases and promises has yet to see the light of day. If they ever hit the market, I may consider one. It is the subject of considerable conjecture and cause of constant angst on the FN boards. The Handl is a really nice looking piece, but it has received a lot of mixed reviews. I decided on going with the Cavalry unit. It is not fancy and shares the same sculpting as the plastic factory lower, except that it will accept PMAGs, obviously, so it is a bit wider than the OEM unit, and the trigger guard is opened up. It will also accept AR-15 grips, where the OEM lower will not without some modification to either the grip or lower. The lower is slightly heavier than the plastic OEM version, but PMAGS are lighter than the steel factory mags, so it's basically a wash. The more mags you carry, the more it favors the PMAG compatible lower. Anyway, it came yesterday and I got it installed. I thought I would post up some pics in case any of the SCAR guys on the board have been curious. The finish is smooth and even and there are no sharp edges. The fit with the factory parts is perfect. It was very easy moving the factory components from the OEM lower into the new unit. PMAGS drop free with no issues and the bolt catch works as it should. This discoloration on the lower in my pics is just excess oil from the trigger install. My only gripe is that because the lower is a little wider than stock to accommodate the wider PMAG, there is extra width at the top of the gip. You can see it in the second pic below at just above the magpul branding on the Grip. It doesn't really cause any problem, and it exists on the factory lower too (just a little less), but I wish it were flush with the grip. Yes, the gun has green krylon on it. I have not fired it yet because it is 9 degrees today, but I have hand-cycled several rounds through it with no issue. The reviews I have read state 100% reliability, so I am not too worried about it.

  32. I didnt write what is posted below it was posted on FB by another poster, but it hit the nail right on the head, there are more reports everyday true or not that muzlims are being allowed to participate in our Government affairs due to OBO, while we sit back and watch what is going on.  Now I am not that old 62 years young but can remember all of the rioting and protests over Viet Nam, the draft, and how we should not be in other countries fighting their wars, as a nam era vet I have long felt like we should have nuked them when carter was in office and didnt, now we have to deal with the after effects of not doing so, just like if Paton would have been allowed to go in and kick the arses of the rusians we might not have had to deal with their BS either but politics got in the way. The muzlims see us as the enemy and are looking to decimate us one way or another and have been attempting that since the inception of this country.  How we handle the problem now will have consequences far beyond our own life time, and I would like to think that my grandchildren and their grandchildren will be able to live happy, free, lives, like we have been allowed to do without interference from a bunch of wacks that want us to be like them, think like them, or die.    Jesus told his followers to pray for unbelievers, Mohammad told his to behead them There is a big difference! Muslims have been gaining in numbers and territory by torturing and killing unbelievers since the 7th century until the Ottoman empire was broken up after WWI in 1924. They enslaved and raped captive women and children during their rein of terror. They tried to invade Europe many times but were pushed back by Christians and the Crusades. Unless we know history we are fooled into believing terrorism is something new by Islam because of the "terrible things the United States is doing" or because " Israel was made into a nation after WWII". The truth is terrorist are following the teachings of the Quran just like they did during the Ottoman empire. Moderate Muslims are just the ones that don't take Islam seriously. The radical Muslims are the ones who take it seriously because Islam is a radical belief. Islam seeks the establishment of Sharia law that calls for the submission and or death of unbelievers. Our constitution guarantees freedom of religion. Sharia law is, of its own nature, unconstitutional and can not be permitted in order to protect the very freedom of religion it seeks to destroy. The other problem with Islam is it isn't just a religion, it is also a form of government that seeks to replace other forms of governments.

I'd like to see the guy slaughter a chicken before making bold statements about cutting sleeping throats, I doubt very highly he has it in him. Poison, maybe. But I also doubt he has any on hand and I 'd be pretty surprised if he knew how to go about making any either. Also, FYI; Bob Ross was actually apparently a bad ass who went into the painting gig because it involved less yelling than his old job, Air Force Drill Sergeant. "I was the guy who makes you scrub the latrine, the guy who makes you make your bed, the guy who screams at you for being late to work. The job requires you to be a mean, tough person..." 41. The Muslins of America MOA compound or more accurately community in Dover has been there for many years and is well known to area LEA. The people living there are self separated in living style and choice from the city and county. Many adults are drawing retirement  incomes or have jobs in adjacent communities. You need to bear in mind MOA is not the Muslim you read about, see or hear in the Middle East. Most MOA are African American. Don't be paranoid but do be aware. Your greater risk would be a Civil Litigation for a Civil Rights violation. Bottom line simply treat them with the respect you would wish to be treated with and you will be pleasantly surprised. Fear and suspicion exists on both sides so keep and open mind and open heart. I suggest a bit of reading on the Nation of Islam and MOA.

  46. To add on to John 455's fine report, I'd like to add some range reports on two C100's I own. First, a couple of months ago I took possession of two TriStar C100's which I intend to use for carry purposes for my wife and I. The C100 is made in Turkey by the Canik55 firm, and marketed in this country by the TriStar concern. It is closely modeled after the CZ 75 Compact, the most profound deviation from the CZ design being the use of an aluminum frame. The C100 has already been the subject of a multitude of reviews like John 455's, so I won't reinvent the wheel here, except to comment on certain areas of note. We've been freezing our tails off around here, but it got back up into the 60's for a few hours and we were able to confirm zero and test out some groups before the 30 mph winds came in and blew us off the range. Here's what we did. I began by carefully lubing both pistols and firing three 15 yard bench rest groups out of each pistol with three different loads. The purpose was to check zero and see just how well the pistols fed and grouped with different loads. I was especially interested in seeing how the Federal 124 grain standard pressure HST load would perform. Unfortunately, I developed a bad case of "fifth-shot-itis" and threw away every fifth shot in 4 of the 6 groups after having fired a really nice 4 shot group. So since I knew it was me and not the gun, I did not count the wild 5th shot in the group measurements. Here's how my wife's pistol did: (Test results and notes are on the photos.) Here's how my pistol handled the same test: Based on these results, I would have to say in all honesty that these little guns group every bit as well at 15 yards as any of my full size 9mm service pistols have. Included in that statement are a Beretta Brigadier 92FS, a Browning Hi Power and a couple of its clones, a S&W M5906. a CZ 85, two 85B's, and a Bersa Thunder 9 Pro. The C100's, in my estimation, are darned accurate pistols, especially for their short barrels and sight radius. In the next test I wanted to test the pistols' ability to feed and group with the HST loads, to proof one mag per gun with that load, and I wanted to get familiar with their double action triggering characteristics. So here are two 15 shot DAO groups fired standing offhand with full sight alignment, two-hands, at 7 yards. I fired continuously slow fire without lowering either gun. Here's how my wife's gun did: And here's how my gun did - note the "ohpooshot." It was not entirely my best day. ;D Throughout these tests I found the two pistols to have remarkably similar triggering characteristics in both single and double action, but that the single action pull can get scratchy if the sear/hammer engagement surfaces are not lubricated. A drop of oil on the sear/hammer engagement surfaces produced a good, crisp, clean breaking single action pull I'd guesstimate at 4-5 pounds. Most of the reviews of these guns I have read cite a tendency for them to shoot 3" low at around 10 yards. I found that my pistol shoots around 2" low at 15 yards, and a "click" left, while my wife's gun shoots dead bang center at both 7 and 15 yards. I don't worry about a minor elevation deviation in a defensive pistol, but I really wanted to bump the rear sight a hair right to center up the windage. My wife's pistol shot all three loads to the same point of impact, while mine wants to be just a bit fussier. Later in the week, I managed to get up to an indoor range and retest my gun's zero after tapping the sight to the right. The target shows the result while the photo of the sight shows how little I had to bump it to the right to get it to center. These shots were fired at 10 yards bench rest, aimed slow fire. As to magazines, These two pistols were provided with MecGar-made Tristar 15 shot mags. The CZ75 Compact 14 round mags work great, as do the CZ factory 16 shot mags, the MecGar CZ75 17 shot mags, and the CZ 75 SP01 18 shot mags. You just have to live with the larger mags hanging out the bottom of the grip frame, but to me this was a non-issue. Total round count out of each pistol is now roughly 275 rounds each with only one FTF, which I attributed to a bad round. The ammo used throughout the majority of these tests was Blazer Brass 115 grain FMJ and Federal standard pressure HST 124 grain JHP's, along with a smattering of WW NATO 124 grain FMJ. This photo shows the pistol and the case it comes in, although I revised it to get it to carry more gear. I simply took a square of old mattress pad, covered it with fleece and held it to the back of the pad with double sided tape. I think John455 and I agree about the gun's worth. Given its obvious quality of manufacture, fit, and finish, as well as reliable functioning and excellent accuracy, I think the C100 definitely falls into the class of pistol in which a lot of guys will soon be saying: "Boy I sure wish I had bought one while they were cheap." I have a feeling they're going to be "discovered" right soon.
