People think it's their right to drive slower than normal. What they need to be made to understand is, You DONT have a right to inconvenience others around you. Not keeping with the flow of traffic is just as deadly as some mad speedster. Doesn't matter what the actual speed is.

You can pick your friend's but not your family. Their house their rules. Leave the gun in your car and enjoy their company. Life is too short to alienate your family.

    it is your brother.  To steal a line from "Tombstone" you back your brother's play.   Talk to him and let him know you want to carry concealed when you visit.  If he is against it you back his play rather then him back your play.     I ask,  do you feel unsafe in his hood?  Do you really feel you will be invaded upon in his home?   Life is not always about the damn gun.

Carrying a firearm on someone else's property is not a right, Constitutional or otherwise. It is a privilege extended to the guest by the property owner. This has been common law since the Magna Carta. As far as in laws go I would put it on him to be the bad guy. I would let him and her know that you carry to protect yourself AND them. Then tell them that if they insist that you still not carry in their house then tell that is not possible and that you prefer they come up your house instead.

Some of you folks need to take a chill pill. This is how some road rage incidents get started. If you want to drive competitively, do it on a track. And put the damn cell phones down!

Yours too Spots.  Gordon's post reminded me some points that make total sense.      I guess I am lucky in a way that none of my family forces me to make a decision about guns.  I disagree with some on other things, but If I have to be around them I can deal with what they want if I have to.   Ha,  I bet I am about the first person on this board to have their mind changed by points made by a few others!   You sure don't see that much around here.

You've already answered your own question. How you choose to protect yourself and your family is no ones business but your own. If you're carrying concealed no one is the wiser. as some of you know, last year i broke my neck last year. i hope to continue in the action shooting sports hoping for my 1st try in May. any way Blade-Tech told me to try there TMMS and see what i thought. i already had the black ice holster and have it working nicely. still need need a idea for placing mag pouches. the first pic the female piece is mounted to the chair and the male is on the holster. and yes i have some extra weight on

It can be done by cutting the grip frame, drilling for the mainspring housing pin, replacing the mainspring housing, replacing the grip panels, buying smaller magazine's, but why since officer size 1911's are available. If it were me, I would sell the commander and buy an officer size 1911 or just keep the commander and buy an officer 1911.

I suppose we part ways on this one Mike. I washed my hands of the majority of my "blood relatives" many moons ago. I had had enough of their narcissistic, deluded over inflated ego. To me, family ain't got squat to do with similar DNA markers and common blood types. If it DOES and I'm wrong, then piss on the paradigm of "family". Life is too short to be tormented over some silly sense of loyalty to a bloodline. so If you had been there would it have made a difference?   It is not like he was shooting anyone else.   He shot someone who made him feel fucked over.  So a guy shoots someone,  are you gonna pull your piece and shoot a guy who blew a person away even though he threatened no one else?   there are always going to be nutbags.

    wish I could dislike this.  Family comes first.  You don't get to pick them.  You do get to pick what you prefer to do. Live with all consequences.

What if my level of feeling protected by a gun is complicated by their views of them being anti gun and I have to be around them. In a perfect world I would choose to be around like minded people but I'm talking about a few family members who are liberal and yes its my brother and his wife. Do I conceal and not let them know I carry or do I just leave it in my vehicle until I leave? I'm leaning toward not telling them as if it is concealed then nobody should know but me.

When I was in HS the biggest lineman was 6-2 and weighed about 245. Most were in the 220 range. I was a fullback and I weighed 205. My school was a AAAA school...one of the biggest in the region.   I went to a HS game the other week and it was between two small schools. They had 280 linemen and 230 pound RB's.   I'm convinced that over all the kids today are much bigger.......and faster. When they collide it isn't always pretty even with all the improved equipment. It's like getting hit my a car. And the NFL well......it's like getting hit by a train. The human body just isn't equipped to take that kind of punishment over and over again. Something has to give and usually something does.

To a point, if you follow at the recommended distance some asshat will cut you off barely leaving enough room to stop if the guy in front happens to brake.

Yea, I get a lot of that on my way to work.  I can get a new truck at least once a week.

These drivers are a PITA, but just last night I had someone pull the 'ol pass me in the left lane, then exit the road we're on right in front of me rather than fall in behind me and THEN exit.....and we are the only two cars on the road. 

I dunno if I could shoot him if he did not threaten me.  I agree with having the pistol handy in case he did point it my way.   The whole thing is awful.  Sounds like he had more issues than being allowed to smoke.

There are irritating drivers in every state and they are from every state.... Yeah passing on the right is irritating but what if the car you claim is hogging the left lane is doing the posted speed limit?

You can run a Officer's Model slide and barrel on a Commander frame if that's what is intresting you. But if your looking to convert a Commander frame to an Officers Model frame it's economically unfeasable. If you truly want an Officers Model frame then either trade or sell your exhisting Commander frame to obtain an Officers Model frame or purchase one outright.

 I guess it would help to explain my motivation for this but I won't go into detail. I have a very complex family story but long story short I was legally adopted by my daddy and thus now have his last name. My daddy did have firearms but I do not believe I will be getting any of them. He loved me and all but circumstances may prevent me from getting any of them. Even if I could get them at this point I'm not sure if I want them. I am wanting something that will remind me of him each and every time I shoot it. I have decided that will be something by Ruger.   He didn't shot competitions or shoot a lot for that matter but he just swore by Ruger guns and loved owning them. My motivation is a combination of something that will remind me of him but at the same time something I will enjoy and be able to pass down to my children as a symbol of what I enjoy. I guess since it's not something he actually owned I am just thinking of what he would have enjoyed owning.   I can tell you he would not care for a single action revolver. :pleased:  As pretty as they are.   I do plan to get some form of customization done to it whether that is engraved grips or metal engraving with my last name. That kind of has me steering away from a match champion and maybe towards a regular GP100 or SP101 with less engraving.

I love movies on the big screen, I will never go to Knoxville again now that we have this theater. I lover new 70 MM projection and sound. People that dont go to movies now dont know what their missing.  Movies on a TV just dont cut it.......even for this ole fart.  Plus i had to travel 100 miles round trip tp knoxville..........I'm about 10 miles from this new theater......and the price is right $7.00 all day.........Amen.

  Lots of  great choices in the Ruger line.   Pistols, rifles, single actions, double actions, autoloaders, etc. It would be hard to go wrong with about any choice from Ruger.   I don't think you said, but if so, I'm sorry; I may have missed this.   What did your Dad like to shoot?   I would look for something that he liked and hadn't bought for himself, and make that my pick. Just my opinion.

He is 84 years old, and has killed 3 deer this season.  If it makes him happy, then who cares.   BTW, he stays in the woods 3-4 days at a time. Can't hunt post sundown.

My only suggestion is to stay out of the woods. Really, a TV?
