  1. If need be I can come out of retirement but this is not it. Waiting for the right one to make my return as epic as possible.

  2.     Yep. That's why a smart person gets a lawyer and sets up a blind trust, gives the ticket to the trust, then has their lawyer claim the prize on behalf of the trust. Then there's no mention of your name in public at all.

  6. If I won very little would change except I would help more. No way I could ever spend it all so I would be helping more than I do now. My wife and I have dreamed about starting a rescue of some sort and the winnings would ensure we would be able to do good on a much larger scale.

  7. This movie is exactly what I hoped: ridiculously extravagant special effects and crazy vehicles and even a guitar player swinging off the front of Bigfoot on steroids with a guitar that shoots flames. Very little talking or plot, just action and fighting and explosions. And yes, I am a lightweight.

  9. I think if I were to win a lottery this big, it would ruin my life as I know it.  My family might be able to start a new life, but I have a feeling it would end up driving a wedge between us and friends or family.  I always tell my wife that I wouldn't mind winning a "meager" $500,000-1 million; enough to pay off all our debts, give some to charity, and be modestly set for retirement if invested correctly.  I think winning too much in such a short time might have a negative effect on my character, and it would probably effect my children in ways that might be undesirable (based on all those reality show people who are famous for just being rich).  I admire the rich who worked hard for their money, and the ones who inherited money and multiplied it through hard work or business savvy, but some people who never had to work a day in their life are probably missing something in their soul that can't be bought.  I wouldn't want my children to be one of those.   I also tell my wife that we will play the lottery if either of us as a dream with concrete, unambiguous numbers and date to play, or I found a frog with a pattern on its back that looks like numbers.  Neither of those have happened yet.  Anything else is just gambling, and I have terrible luck at gambling and contests.  Or if I do win something, it is like fifth place and I just break even.   Having unlimited money would definitely make life easier and possibly more fun, but I sincerely think it would not be worth it in the long run unless it was earned in some way.  Maybe I'm afraid that I would feel to guilty about winning and just give it all away, so I don't play at all.

  10.   You can draw out what you want, but you will still be sued and some of those will be from your best "friends" and "family".  People have such a sense of entitlement that they believe they deserve part of your winnings too, after all... what did you do to earn that money?   Check out that TV show the lottery destroyed my life or whatever it is called, the tips they all have is tell everyone no (I'm at expert level on that one), move away, don't invest in things you don't understand.  Almost every single one of them say your friends and family are what cause the biggest issues.

  13. That guy with that bat looking thing got way to close. Had that happened here to me I would have upholstered and been reading to sling hot lead down range starting with the closest and going from there to any that were still coming towards me and not running away. He had Video evidence that his life was in fact in being threatened and he gave more than adequate warning that he would shoot them..............jmho.

  17. You'll do very well.   A couple of things impressed me with CommsNBombs.   A battalion commander (Leads about 1000 folks) asked him if he new how a piece of communications equipment worked that was in a truck.  Comms was able to impress him to the point that the commander asked him to be his right hand man for all of the communications systems.   That tells me that he is sharp and gets things done.    Also, he's much closer to the beginning of his career than many of us.  Leaders have been concerned about millennial's relative to work ethic and ability to accept criticism.  It's clear to me that neither of these would be an issue.   Next, there is significant disconnect between IT and the business units, which is due in large part to differences in the way most techies and business people think and make decisions.     I think he can grow into a role where he bridges the gap and helps both the business units and IT get what they need.  Tech leaders that excel at this will be able to do anything they want to do.   I wanted to meet him in person before I start connecting him with my customers, who are tech leaders and have no concerns at all.

  22. I posted on the other thread but oh well. I would right off the bat give money to friends and family. I would try to convince my 2 lifelong friends with a few million a piece to leave their jobs because who wants to be rich alone? I would concentrate on an underground bunker that can hold 20 or so people. It would be huge and would have storage for food, guns and ammo, medical supplies and so on. I would find some smart young Asian kid and send him to med school to have as backup in the bunker for our doc/surgeon. I would shoot, shoot, shoot everyday and build elaborate ranges and scenarios. I'd be getting .223 and 9mm delivered by the pallet. And I'd probably go all out and buy a lifelong benefactor membership on TGO.[emoji14]

  27. Maybe I'm just an old country boy that doesn't know any better, but I don't think I could spend $930,000,000, as mentioned earlier as the cash payout. A couple mil, easy. A few mil, likely. But, 930 mil, no way I could ever conceive a way to spend that much. Heck, you could buy more gold than what is supposed to be in Fort Knox. On second thought, I might just buy Colt, seeing how they need a buyer right about now...

  28. Another consideration to take is how do you carry them. And practicing with said method. I know dudes love running plate carriers or battle belts, or couplers or other wierd high speed CAG Operator techniques. I personally shove things in my pockets. I guess I would wear my plate carrier if some stuff went down - but that is not for everyone. Ammo gets heavy, in a dismounted situation if I were to carry a rifle, 7 mags, my Glock 20 with 3 mags weapons and ammo alone is nearing 15-20 pounds plus my plates and ruck full of crap and more ammo. You can tell when people just buy that stuff on a whim, I see heroes in full kit at MCSC all the time and they move around like pregnant whales - spending 400 on a chest rig doesnt make you an Operator same goes for drop leg ammo bandoliers and Gunfighter helmets. My $0.02, baby is asleep and I felt like venting. Yall know me and my hate of everything tactical Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

  30.  I didn't want to derail the lottery tax thread with this question but what do you do with the check?   If you're handed this little piece of paper with $500M printed on it, what do you do with it, just walk into your local branch of First Tennessee and say " I'd like to deposit this".   I really need to know before I pick up my check  :D

  31. I was walking down the street when I was stopped by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless man who asked me for a couple of dollars for a meal.   I took out my wallet, extracted ten dollars and asked, "If I give you this money, will you buy some beer with it?" "No, I had to stop drinking years ago," the homeless man replied. "Will you use it to go fishing instead of buying food?" I asked. "No, I don't waste time fishing," the homeless man said. "I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive." "Will you spend this on hunting equipment?" I asked. "Are you NUTS?" exclaimed the homeless man. "I haven't gone hunting in 20 years!" "Well," I said, "I'm not going to give you money. Instead, I'm going to take you home for a shower and a terrific dinner cooked by my wife." The homeless man was astounded. "Won't your wife be furious with you for doing that? I replied, "Don't worry about that. I want her to see what a man looks like after he has given up drinking, fishing and hunting."

  32. Pressure can build in both cases. Wuth the bullet seated deeper there is less space for the powder to expand into before the bullet moves. If he bullet is already touching the lands it is much harder to get the bullet moving so pressure goes up. Many factors can effect pressure some are more obvious than others. Read, ask question, learn.

  33. Before I let this get ahead of me I want to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed thus far, and sent me PMs/Emails and other sets of advice, I knew we had a decent amount of IT folks - but not this many, so that is good.   Had the opportunity to talk to Pete123 in person today and networked with some other people, it has already been an awesome experience and makes me more and more glad that I reached out to all of you here on TGO for advice/help.   Will begin searching for an accelerated program in Computer Science for Network Admin stuff, trying to set my 25m goals accordingly and not try to jump into some directorate position (not like that'll happen anyway lol)   Enrolled for Feb w/ Syracuse to knock out my CCNA cert - I think they also offer CISSP, have to double check the program but I will try and go for that instead if they do have it - more for the fact that they pay for one exam, might as well make it the most expensive/relevant one   Hopefully the connections/advice I have gotten can translate into a job offer(s) God willing in the next few weeks so I can make a quick transition - as my family is my number one priority.   Also didn't realize how important LinkedIn was until today lol

  34. That is interesting. I have a load for each of my Ar's based on TSX projectiles. I have one gun that oddly likes 62gr and for it I use the TTSX but the rest are all heavy TSX's. My sig 5.56's especially like heavier rounds.   The performance through glass was pretty interesting. I did some testing through auto glass and had better results but I was shooting into old books not gel...   I have a friend that works in a larger PD in Georgia that has done a bunch of ballistic work with the GBI. He said that for precision shots through auto glass his team was moving back to 5.56 from 308. The 5.56 did a better job when they needed to put a round in a specific place. The 308 tended to shred everything in sight after going through a windshield.   Since I'm not too worried about a precision shot through windshields I built several 308 AR's. I figure if I need to fire into a car pretty much everything inside is a threat...   I'm really hoping to get my range set up this year. If I do I will have to try some of these factory loads and see how they perform. I wish I had the patience that these guys on AR15 do when doing tests like that. I am too easily distracted...   BTW, I've been happy with Wolf Gold in training classes.   Mark

  41. I have had one for about 7 months. My pistol is tan and my first of color. lol   I find it to be a very accurate, comfortable to shoot pistol. I personally prefer it over the VP9, but that's my opinion.   It has a very smooth, short trigger with a distinct break point that I'm estimating at about 3.5 pounds. And a very short, very audible reset.   Follow up shots are ridiculously easy with this pistol. I absolutely love it. My only complaint with it is finding extra mags for it. Strike that, make it was.   I found a dealer on GunBroker who has them. Goes under seller HotRod. Or just search for Canik and you can find him. Mags are priced about like every other one these days...30 bucks apiece. And he even has some 32 rounders for them. lol   I'll stop just short of saying I like it better than my PPQ 9, but the 2 are darn close in all areas.   If you are considering one...don't hesitate. You won't regret it.

  42. Thanks to my neighborhood gun shop, I am the proud owners of a new model pro 60. I had been on the look out for several months and got a call that one had been found. To make a long story short. Or short as I can make it. I got it. It sat in our safe for a couple weeks until this past weekend when my wife and I got the chance to have a date night at the range. I eagerly packed it and several boxes of 38 and 357 ammo in the range bag and away we went. We got to the range and got in right away. I unboxed it and loaded the first cylinder with standard 38 specials. The wood grips fit my small hands perfect. I squeezed off the first cylinder D.A and the target was about 15 yds. For my limited experience the revolver was smooth. The trigger was clean and crisp. The recoil with 38 was minimal. I am not sure how to gauge trigger pull but DA was easy and controllable for me. The next rounds were 38 as well that I fired S.A. Once again the trigger was clean and crisp. Both times I printed just a little low but the grouping was close. For me anyway. From then on we ran full bore 357 Fiochi 158 grain ammo. The recoil was more but very manageable. The sights were easy to pick up and I liked the sight plane. Sharon even shot several rounds through it and shot it well. By the way, she always out shoots me. Lol The biggest thing for me to get used too is my middle finger is a little uncomfortable against the trigger guard. I am guessing I will get used to that though. We ran 2 boxes of ammo and it performed flawless. All in all I really like it. If you have been on the fence on one of these you might want to start looking for one. It could take some time? I will keep you updated as we can and post a couple of pics. Thanks Doug

  46. I'm 60 now, and have never liked heavy recoil, rifle or handgun, causes me to flinch after just a few rounds.  I avoid shotguns as well.  I shoot +P in my 357 when I do shoot it, and 223 is enough for me, maybe 243.  Getting older is not for sissies.  LOL

  47. I think the idea here is that Hickok45 himself does not spread his name. You list two sites which divulge his identity. Great. But those aren't Hickok's site. HE isn't going around telling everyone who he really is where he lives, and when is the best time to stop by for a chat. Can you probably look around and find the info? Absolutely. Is Hickok the one providing it? No.
