I have one like Hozzie uses in my big safe along with a meter to keep an eye on humidity and it has stayed below 50% ever since installed. My smaller safe has one of the Eva-Dry https://www.amazon.com/Improved-Eva-dry-500-Renewable-Dehumidifier/dp/B00BD0FN8A/ref=pd_sim_201_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=XE73AD975F3W3YMSW5SQ I just pul it out when the indicator shows it needs to be charges and plug it in the wall over night. I also keep another Eva-Dry in one of my ammo storage cabinet, a small frig, and the dry packs in my other long term ammo storage boxes.2 points

My 11 year old grandson bagged his first muzzle loader buck yesterday! A funny story....lol. It was about 9 AM and he was actually asleep in the stand and the buck woke him up snorting. He was up a tree about 20 feet and the buck was about 10 yards away and could smell him but could not see him so it snorted and woke Logan up. It took Logan a few seconds to realize what was going on and the deer began to walk away. Didn't spook but was headed towards a thicket so Logan hit his grunt and the buck stopped and and turned he got the shot and bagged an 8 pointer. I am suppose to be getting pictures of the deer today but I will probably have to remind Justin, his older brother to send them. Logan called me all excited about hs first Muzzle Loader deer.2 points

The people are going to begin, if they haven't already, expecting their churches to provide security to prevent a shooting from occurring. What I am hearing is the churches that are stepping up to this expectation are establishing "Safety" Teams. The duties of these Safety Teams generally include the provision of First Aid as well as response to any other emergency situation that might arise during church activities, such as fires, tornados, earthquakes, and yeah even active shooters. In my opinion, there is no certain size of a congregation that begins to necessitate the establishment of a Safety Team or at the very least safety protocols. If you are gathering people together at an appointed place and time on a recurring schedule each week, you have essentially told all criminals when and where they can find a group of people to do bad things to. To be frank, this applies to any organization, not just churches. Scout meetings, fraternal meetings, council meetings, and so forth all have the same inherent problem. A person who wants to visit violence upon you knows when and where to find you, so you should have a planned and well-trained response for that. I predict that the churches and other groups that either ignore this problem or willfully refuse to do anything to prepare for it are going to begin to see a decline in participation. People are going to start looking for the presence of "Safety" Teams or asking whether the group has established protocols, before deciding whether to put themselves or their loved ones into the congregations. Should these people be carrying their own guns and first aid as well? YES. But some folks will always rely on others to carry their slack and the desire for personal safety is no different.2 points

This seems to be a somewhat religious event among deer hunters. I'll shoot a rifle every now and again, but not necessarily just before deer season. I don't know about your experiences, but mine always shoot exactly where they shot last year. Is this a problem I've just been lucky enough to somehow avoid?1 point

My 238 was made in September, 2010. The original recoil spring failed after 70 rounds. Sig's replacement failed after 160 rounds. I replaced it with a Colt Mustang spring, over 800 rounds ago.1 point

If figured they fired him before having to suffer the indignity of losing to the Commodores.1 point

Agreed. My wife's 238 started showing some pretty unusual wear on the barrel(metal actually disappearing). I sent pics to Sig. They agreed it wasn't right and sent me a new recoil spring. I'd give Sig a call and they will probably take care of you.1 point

My disappointment comes from seeing occasional great execution. They have some talent and can win. Yes, the players have to perform, but the coach is the person who takes that individual talent to obtain consistent, successful team execution. If Butch and his staff don't have that intangible skill, they need to find work elsewhere.1 point

That is why I’m going to be at the meeting and help any way they see fit. I don’t ask anybody at the congregation to protect me, but I will gladly stand up and protect people that can’t or won’t protect themselves. We are a close nit congregation, I consider everybody there family. I just think it is the responsibility of any able bodied man in the congregation, but if there are still able bodied men that won’t, I’ll do what I can to protect them too.1 point

Only saw one deer this morning. Right at 8am I had a nice 8 pt come in. I thought he was going to walk right to me but veered off and never offered me a shot. Lots of squirrels running around this morning.1 point

Back in the day I use to I guess you could say sight my deer rifle in about a week before the season but I think it was just more of a get together of a few deer hunting buddies that enjoy deer hunting but also enjoy shooting so it was kind of a combo deal for us. Most everyones rifles were all dead on from year before but was still fun to get together.1 point

I would replace the recoil spring and see what happens... leroy...1 point

I suspect that you are correct that a lot of little bucks are being checked as does, and a lot of people are using centerfires right now. I don't know if going back to the old way would help or not, I'm thinking those people probably just wouldn't check them at all. I sure do like the convenience of being able to check them on my phone, but I see it doors open up opportunity for dishonesty.1 point

Everything is WAY overpriced. Online shopping and local trades have spoiled shows for me. Why go to a show when I can come here and find something I want.1 point

Pikesville is definitely worth picking up and priced about right. Tried it at Heaven Hill and went out looking for some around town the next day.1 point

It isn’t at all about legality and rules of engagement, but rather about civil liability. If the church appoints a security team and then that team screws up and accidentally shoots someone’s five year old, the church could be held responsible. If there just happens to be someone that carries do the same, the church would be held much less liable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

And they should have to follow the same laws we do. If I can’t point a loaded gun at a stranger then an officer should not be able to either, without justification. And “I’m scared” isn’t justification unless I can use the same reason.1 point

I finally connected. That big ole doe stepped out at 3:01. The Hornady FPB 300 grain .50 did remarkable. The deer was dead before it hit the ground at 70 yards. I had been running powerbelts in my .45 and did not like them at all. Of the last 5 deer i shot with that load 4 ran over 100 yards. I got this CVA Wolf .50 and really like it. Trying to find the right load to make my .45 a 200 yard gun.1 point

The two buck limit, deer hunting t.v. shows, or something have seemed to finally change the mindset of a lot of hunters here. It seems most of us are now passing up the year old bucks we used to shoot. This is resulting, at least in my area, in some nice mature bucks walking around. I used to think "well, if I don't shoot it, he'll be popped as soon as he tops the next hill". So did most everybody else.1 point

Gun show loophole, isn’t a loophole at all it’s made up. It’s just like any other private party sale in TN. Private party sale in TN, you give me money, I give you gun, end of transaction. Only difference is instead of it being listed online to get an audience, where there is a record, it’s two people meeting face to face with no paper trail or electronic record. The antis don’t care about crime, just having a record of where the guns are so they can confiscate them in the future.1 point

I carry IWB with crossbread holsters exclusively. Took me a lot of attempts to find the right combo. In the beginning, it all feels like this.1 point
